During the trial of two men accused of stabbing Moraga resident Hamed Mirabdal, one of the men, Nicholas Flatbush, of Oakland, admitted to being involved in a botched robbery. While Flatbush denied being involved in the stabbing portion of the crime, he admitted to his involvement in a planned robbery of Mirabdal with Blake Mastro in the Berkeley Hills three years ago.
Flatbush claimed Mastro began stabbing Mirabdal at the scene of the robbery without him being aware of the plan to inflict any violence.
Mirabdal was stabbed more than two dozen times in the attack, requiring open heart surgery before falling into a coma. After awaking from a coma, Mirabdal admitted to meeting up with the two men to purchase a handgun when he was attacked by Mastro.
