The fans in McKeon Pavillion this afternoon were shocked and disappointed as the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee decided that the Gaels’ resume just wasn’t good enough to earn an at-large bid into the tournament. Many college basketball experts had the Gaels projected to make the tournament, but that wasn’t the case. The Gaels are expected to be a top seed in the NIT (the top tournament for teams who don’t qualify for the NCAA Tournament).

The Campolindo girls basketball team suffered a season-ending loss Saturday night, falling by a score of 58-54 to Sacramento High School in the quarterfinals of the CIF Division III State Championships. With a win, the Cougars would have earned a rematch with Bishop O’Dowd who beat them in overtime of the NCS final.
