That strange atmosphere of uncomfortable tension that arose as a result of the arrest of Stanley Middle School teacher Michael Merrick for allegedly molesting one of his students continues to linger, as the teacher’s trial has been pushed back until at least May.

What is believed to be a, and possibly “the,” key piece of evidence in the case is an item from Merrick’s classroom office, which is being tested for DNA. The DNA has not been tested yet, which has resulted in the case being delayed.

Merrick will return to court May 24 to have his preliminary hearing date set.
