Louis Zamperini, the subject of the New York Times bestselling book, “Unbroken,” written by Laura Hillenbrand, is coming to Lafayette for a special event this Sunday, April 17.

The event, which will take place at the Acalanes High School Performing Arts Center starting at 4:00 p.m., is currently sold out; however, unfilled seats may be available at the event.

Zamperini’s life story is one of a kind. He finished 8th in the 5000-meter race at the 1936 Olympics, at which he also had a personal meeting with Hitler. He later enlisted in the military during World War II. When his plane was shot down over the Pacific Ocean, he spent 47 days floating on a raft in the ocean before being taken as a prisoner of war by the Japanese. He has been a nationally-renowned inspirational speaker ever since.
