Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011 at 11:50 pm in Lamorinda.
A 3.6-magnitude earthquake shook the Lamorinda area at 11:36 p.m. Tuesday night. While it wasn’t as big as the earthquakes making national news today on the East Coast and in Colorado, it was definitely noticeable for anyone still awake.
The earthquake was centered approximately 4 kilometers northeast of San Leandro and struck at a depth of 9.1 kilometers.
A smaller 2.3-magnitude aftershock, which struck five minutes later at 11:41 p.m., was centered in almost the exact same location as the 3.6-magnitude earthquake.
