BART will be on hand Tuesday to show the Lafayette City Council photo simulations of what their proposed “solar carport” project will look like

The transit agency plans to cover a fair chunk of the Lafayette BART station parking lot with solar panels. BART says this will provide shade for parked cars and energy to power the BART system.

But this, of course, is Lafayette, and views and hills are involved, so I;ve got to think there will be some folks who don’t think it’s all that great of an idea.

The council meeting starts at 7 p.m. Tuesday (not Monday, because of Columbus Day) in the Arts and Sciences Discovery Room (location change) at the Lafayette library. More info here.
