Red flag fire warnings from the National Weather Service will go into effect for much of the East Bay, including parts of Lamorinda, beginning tonight at 10:00 p.m.

The red flag fire warnings are expected to last until Thursday at 6:00 a.m.

The warnings are in effect due to a mix of warm temperatures, low humidity and strong winds. Warm temperatures and low humidity have been common recently, while the winds picking up are what are causing the change.

The National Weather Service expects winds to gust up to 40 miles per hour during the time frame of the warnings.
