The St. Mary’s men’s basketball team isn’t the only one on campus making it into the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament anymore, as the men’s soccer team made it in with a huge upset win over UC Irvine, who was ranked seventh in the nation. The Gaels earned a 2-1 victory over Irvine in overtime in their second round game, following a 1-0 victory over Cal State Bakersfield in the first round.

The Gaels will visit Brown University for their Round of 16 matchup. The game kicks off this Sunday at 5:00 p.m. A win over Brown would send the Gaels to the quarterfinals where they could meet North Carolina, who is currently ranked number one in the nation.
