Similar to the Campolindo football team, the Campolindo boys soccer team was not expected to encounter much success this season after losing many top players to graduation last year, but success is exactly what both teams have in common.

The Campolindo boys soccer team successfully defended their 2010 Winter Soccer Classic title by repeating as champions with their 2-1 win over Dougherty Valley in the Winter Soccer Classic final Saturday night.

Senior Scott Guelfi scored 20 minutes into the game to give the Cougars a lead. Freshman Ryan Donat added the second goal 10 minutes into the second half. A very late goal by Dougherty Valley wasn’t enough, as the Cougars secured the 2-1 victory.

The late goal was the only the Cougars allowed in their four tournament games, as they won their group games by scores of 4-0, 3-0 and 6-0.
