The City of Lafayette is planning to install new parking meters that will accept credit cards instead of coins. The installation of the new parking meters comes from a decision made by City Council after the city’s auditor suggested that the city try to move away from having so many cash transactions.

Several of the new parking meters will be installed at the Lafayette Mercantile and will be part of a three-month trial run. At the end of the trial run, City Council will determine whether the city should invest money into installing these new meters throughout the city.
