The Red Cross blood drive that was held at Springhill Elementary School in Lafayette in memory of Rachael Wenger collected 45 units of blood from 54 people who registered. The blood drive last year collected 42 units of blood.

Five additional people have donated blood to the cause by going to the blood center in Pleasant Hill, and Rachael’s family is asking that anyone who would like to support the cause do the same.

To donate blood to the cause, call 1-800-RED CROSS or log on to and enter “Rachael Wenger” in the “How were you recruited today?” column.
