The Lafayette Rotary Club’s Annual Concert at the Res is this Saturday, May 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is the first year that the concert will be held on the new permanent stage at the Lafayette Reservoir.
The event is open to the public and free to attend. There will be a raffle where proceeds will go to the local school bands and the Lafayette Rotary Club’s service projects.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on to watch the performances and can bring a picnic lunch to enjoy as well.
To get to the stage, walk east (to the left when facing the reservoir) along the reservoir trail for approximately 150 feet from the parking lot.

The St. Mary’s college baseball team started their season well, but the Gaels have struggled recently. With a 22-23 overall record, the Gaels look like a longshot to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. The Gaels are 6-12 in the West Coast Conference with six conference games remaining (three at Portland and three at home vs. USF). They also have two non-conference games left against Sacramento State and UC Davis.
The St. Mary’s softball team has had a successful season and are set to play in the PCSC Championship Series this weekend against Portland State to determine the conference champion. The Gaels are 26-21 overall, but they stormed through the PCSC to compile a 15-4 conference record.

Stanley Middle School will be hosting the annual Lafayette Jazz Cafe on Friday, June 1, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.
The night will be filled with musical performances fromÂ The Stanley Groove Merchants, The Dominant 7, The Stanley Thundering Herd, The Gypsy Chix, The Stanley Jazz Messengers and The Acalanes Jazz Ensemble.
Chef’s Touch will be selling food, beverages and desserts throughout the night. There will also be random drawings for prizes for all in attendance.
General admission is $10 per person. Children ages 6 and under get in free. All proceeds from the event go to the Stanley Jazz Department.

The Acalanes Union High School District Governing Board officially approved the appointment of John Walker as the new principal at Campolindo High School at their meeting this week.
Walker is currently the assistant principal at San Ramon Valley High School. Walker has also previously worked as a teacher at San Ramon Valley, St. Mary’s High School in Berkeley and schools in the Boston area.
Walker will officially become the principal on July 1 after the current principal, Carol Kitchens, retires. Kitchens has spent the past 12 years as the Campolindo principal and the past 39 years in education.
There will be a reception in the Campolindo Library on Thursday, May 10, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., for parents and students to meet John Walker.

With the help of chef Curtis Stone, Chef Cat Cora will co-host the new Bravo TV series “Around the World in 80 Plates.”
While it may not be what Cora is most famous for, many local restaurant patrons may remember her work as the former executive chef at Postino in Lafayette. Cora actually helped start Postino with the help ofÂ Michael Chiarello in 1998.
With the success of Postino and her own individual success as a chef beginning to blossom, Cora went on to open several restaurants around the country and start her own Greek food line. She is most famously known as being a regular chef on the show “Iron Chef.”

The Moraga Art Gallery’s current show is called “BeautifulÂ America” and features the work of local artists Ginny Ruble and Linda Hanford. Ruble incorporates a variety of ideas into her oil paintings, while Hanford’s art focuses on landscapes and seascapes. The show runs through June 2.
The Lafayette Gallery’s current show, “Imagine,” runs through the rest of this week and features artwork from a variety of media, including paintings, photography and ceramics.
Gallery 83 in Orinda is holding an artists’ reception tonight from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. to celebrate the new show featuring the work of Zachary Roberts. For more information, emailÂ email@example.com.

A power outage this morning left approximately 2,000 Lafayette PG&E customers without power for an hour this morning.
The power outage was reported at 9:00 a.m. this morning, and PG&E was able to restore power to all of their customers by 10:00 a.m.
As of tonight, PG&E had not reported the cause of the power outage but did ensure that they were investigating what could have caused it. No major problems were reported as a result of the outage.
The outage affected nearly 30,000 additional PG&E customers in Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill and Alamo.
