Three local girl scouts from Lafayette’s Troop 31883 recently earned their Gold Award, which is the highest honor a girl scout can receive. The new Gold Award recipients,┬áDayna Silvani, Kelly Williams and Molly Pines, completed community service projects as part of their requirement for a Gold Award.

Silvani worked with Concord nonprofit, Shelter, Inc., to build a play structure at their facility. Williams worked with the Walnut Creek Parks and Recreation Summer Camps to develop a music program for special-needs children. Pines focused on fighting illiteracy in the Dominican Republic by recording Spanish speakers reading books. She turned these recordings into books on CD, which she gave to an orphanage.
