According to an ESPN report, the Saint Mary’s College men’s basketball program is under investigation by the NCAA for potential recruiting violations.

Details are not being released by the NCAA or Saint Mary’s as to what alleged violations are being investigated, but both organizations have acknowledged the ongoing investigation.

The ESPN report confirms that former┬áSaint Mary’s assistant coach David Patrick was interviewed by the NCAA. Patrick was the key recruiter in bringing in many of Saint Mary’s top players from Australia.

The Gaels have made the NCAA tournament four times since Coach Randy Bennett took over the program in 2001. They won the WCC title last season.
