Small earthquake felt in Orinda

Orinda residents reported feeling a small earthquake this morning around 9:25 a.m. According to the U.S. Geological Society, the earthquake measured in at a 2.7-magnitude.

The earthquake was centered along the Hayward Fault near the Oakland-Berkeley border just on the other side of the hills.

According to police, there have not yet been any reports of injuries or structural damage, which is not uncommon for an earthquake this size.

According to the USGS, a separate 2.3-magnitude earthquake hit less than a minute before the 2.7-magnitude earthquake.
