Lafayette schools to get surveillance

The Lafayette School District board has approved the installation of four surveillance cameras at Lafayette Elementary School and Stanley Middle School.

The school district hopes that the installation of these cameras will deter some potential crime and vandalism from occurring.

Despite insurance covering the cost of much of the recent vandalism and crime at the schools, the school district has still had to spend $14,000 on insurance deductibles to cover the incidents.

The Lafayette School District has allocated $30,000 of the budget to surveillance equipment, although the system they are likely to put in to place will cost $16, 542.

Campolindo girls basketball removed from NCS

Despite being named as the fourth seed in the NCS Division 3 girls basketball playoffs, the Campolindo girls basketball team was removed from the playoffs Monday when officials realized that the Campolindo team did not actually meet playoff eligibility requirements.

One of the requirements states that for a team to be eligible for the playoffs, they must have more wins than losses in one of three categories: overall record, division record, or league record. The Cougars were 11-14 overall and 6-6 in their division and their league, making them ineligible.

The removal of the Cougars from the playoffs bumped all other teams up one seed, including the Acalanes girls who are the new number four seed and will now host a quarterfinal game.
