The Acalanes baseball team sits just behind Campolindo in the DFAL standings with a 3-1 record in league play. The Dons are 10-3 overall, outscoring opponents, 61-42, this season.

The Miramonte baseball team is currently in fifth place in the DFAL after going 1-2 in their first three league games. The Matadors are 6-3 overall this season and have outscored opponents, 52-17. The Matadors have relied on a solid pitching staff during a lot of low-scoring games.

High school softball update

The Campolindo softball team is looking to continue the program’s history of success. So far this season, the Cougars are off to a good start with a 5-2 overall record. Miramonte girls fall in NorCal final

The Miramonte girls basketball team’s incredible season came to a disappointing end Saturday, as the Matadors lost to Bishop O’Dowd in the NorCal Regional Final of the state basketball playoffs, 70-51.

The Matadors finish their season with an impressive 31-2 record. Unfortunately for the Matadors, both of their losses came in finals at the hands of Bishop O’Dowd.

Bishop O’Dowd beat the Matadors, 73-49, two weeks ago in the NCS Division 3 championship game.

The Matadors were the most dominant basketball team in the Lamorinda area this winter, going 12-0 in DFAL play. The Matadors outscored their opponents by an average of nearly 30 points a game this season.

Saint Mary’s out of NCAA Tournament

The Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament Friday night, as the Gaels lost to Purdue, 72-69.

Purdue led for the majority of the game, and it looked to be out of reach for the Gaels when they trailed by 11 points with just over four minutes left in the game. The Gaels went on a 14-2 run to take the lead with 44 seconds left, but several key plays from the Boilermakers in the final seconds were enough to win.

Although the Gaels had a great season by winning the WCC regular season and WCC Tournament titles, there is certainly some disappointment from a team that expected to advance.

Saint Mary’s ready for March Madness

The Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team will kick off their NCAA Tournament with their first game on Friday. The Gaels are playing Purdue in Omaha with a scheduled tip-off time of 4:27 p.m. The game will be aired live on truTV.

The Gaels are the #7 seed in the Midwest bracket, while the Boilermakers are the #10 seed.

The winner of the Gaels’ first round game will advance to the Round of 32 to play either Kansas or Detroit.

The Gaels missed out on the NCAA Tournament last year, but they made sure they’d be in it this year by earning an automatic bid when they won the WCC Tournament.

Miramonte girls advance to NorCal Final

The Miramonte girls basketball team kept their season alive with a 71-64 victory over Sacramento High School in Sacramento tonight. The win sends the Matadors to the Northern California Regional Final and a rematch with Bishop O’Dowd.

The Matadors will face the Dragons for the second time in two weeks when they play this Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Power Balance Pavillion, home of the Sacramento Kings. The Dragons handed the Matadors their only loss of the season in the NCS championship game.

After a convincing win against Miramonte in the NCS final, the Dragons have won their state playoff games easily by scores of 68-39 and 76-46. The Matadors will look to play the role of the spoiler as underdogs on Saturday. The winner of the game will move on to the state championship game.
