First I have to say that The Office got robbed at the Golden Globes this year. I could go on and on about how the Golden Globes are just a fashion show or that the HFPA doesn’t know what’s it’s talking about, but what really matters is that the show got robbed.
But at least I can say that the cast of The Office give the best interviews. While other stars were being asked the same questions (Who are you wearing? How does it feel to be nominated? Did you hear that Brad and Angelina are coming together?), John Krasinski (Jim Halpert) was being
bombarded with these by co-star Jenna Fischer (Pam Beasley): “Where do you live? More specifically, what street?”, “What kind of underwear do you wear?”, and most importantly “If I followed you home, would I get arrested?” Oh yes, the important questions have finally been asked.

A few Sundays ago, my grandma told me about this new Jane Eyre mini-series from Masterpiece Theater. The first episode aired that night and on a whim, as well as an attempt to avoid studying for finals, I tuned in. Let me just say, I can not wait for it to go on DVD.
I’ve seen the 1996 movie version and while it was OK, it didn’t leave me fully satisfied. This version, starring Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens, has made me realize all that was missing earlier. The two leads are perfect for their parts and I felt like running up to my room and rereading the book that night.
If you’re a fan of the book, I recommend watching the second episode this Sunday the 28th at 9 p.m. on KQED. If you’re not a fan, I suggest you try it out anyway. Right now it’s the only thing getting me through finals week.

While some may say this is the year of the Pig (and technically they’re right), I’ve decided to call it the year of Books-We’ve-Been-Looking-Forward-to-For-God-Knows-How-Long So-the-Series-We’ve-Been-Following-For-Years-Will-Finally-Finish-Already.
Yeah, not as catchy as the year of the Pig, but it’s true.
For me, it all started with the announcement of the release of Meg Cabot’s fifth and final book in the 1-800-Where-R-You series. A series that began so long ago that she was still writing under the pseudonym Jenny Carroll. To say I had lost hope in ever finding out what would happen to the psychic Jessica Mastriani, well, let’s just say that’s an understatement and leave it at that. The end of the year could not have come soon enough.
Then came the announcement of the fourth final book in the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” series; a series which has to end soon for my own sake. I fell in love with the first book, freaked out the sequel would ruin it, fell in love with the sequel, had a near aneurysm that she was pushing for a third, and finally elected the third as my favorite. Call me pessimistic, but I just can’t handle ruining a good thing and I’m once again freaking out!
But then, a few months after both of these announcements came the big kahuna, the book I have waited for since the third grade. The book that I may be a little too excited for, but it’s okay because I’m far from alone. That’s right, Harry Potter number seven. Rumors of its release in 2007 clinched this year as the year for Books-We’ve-Been-Looking-Forward-to-For-God-Knows … you know what I’m talking about.
In the mean time, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all those other series I’ve been following over the years that I just want to know what happens already!
