Best bar manager, an Oakland hombre
SF Magazine’s best bar manager is Thad Vogler of the new Camino on Grand Avenue and Beretta on Velencia Street across the Bay because “he sprearheaded a renaissance of traditional cocktails and small-batch artisinal spirits.” His resume also includes Flora over here and other high profile restaurants in San Francisco. Several other East Bay restaurants were on the magazines “Where to eat now” list: Vics Chaat House, Sea Salt, Angeline’s Luisiana Kitchen and Maritime (thankfully they have painted over the hideous aqua blue and green stripes on the facade) in Berkeley, and in Oakland Cafe Madrid, Cesar, Di Bartolo, Flora, Franklin Square Bar, Jojo, Levende East, Mono, Oliveto (with a scathing review), Pizzaiolo, Seoul Gom Tang, Somerset and Wood Tavern.
