Walker matter under review

A Raiders spokesman said “We are in the process of gathering information,” regarding the status of wide receiver Javon Walker, who was reportedly found unconconscious in Las Vegas with an orbital fracture Monday morning.

Walker, according to Fox affiliate KVVU-5, was listed in fair condition.

The Las Vegas-Review Journal reported Walker was spotted at the nightspot “Tryst” at the Wynn “spraying the crowd with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignone Rose champagne he ordered.”

Walker signed a free agent contract with $16 million in guaranteed money in the offseason but was still rounding into shape following knee surgery. Coach Lane Kiffin said he wanted Walker to lose weight before the Raiders went to training camp in Napa.

A report filed with the the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified Walker as the “victim of an early morning crime.”

The statement read as follows:

“The victim of an early morning crime near the intersection of Winnick Avenue and Koval lane has been identified as Javon Walker. Officers responded to a report of a man down at that location at approximately 7:19 a.m. this morning. When officers arrived they found an unconscious male, who appears to have been the victim of a robbery. The victim was transported to an area hospital with siginficant injuries. Late this afternoon detectives were able to positively identify the victim as Walker.

“Walker remains hospitalized at this time and this investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information concinering this event is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.”

Ok let me make it clear first i did not read all 640 some odd coments but I read enough to know some of you who posted on here have a real distorted since of what important. Come on guys show some F’ en class

The guy got beat up for crimesakes and all some of you can say is he was a lousey signing or he was this or that.

None of that matters the fact he was beat up is what does matter somebody in the to 15 made the point thaty maybe he was where he should not have been and maybe he was doing something he should not have, butr that he certainly did not deserve this.

Well thats true if he was indeed a victim of a crime then no he did not deserve this.

I am just very disapointed in some of you on here all you can come up with is how he never should have been signed orhe was the bigest ??? what does that got to do with anything right now!

Its no wonder raider fans have a bad rep.

Ok fine i am getting off my soap box but some of you that took the time to post on this topic really need to take a look in the mirrior football is not the end all be all not when you are talking about a persons life.

  • Exlaraiderseasonticketholder

Wonder if he was found with the watch?

  • Raider4life

Will the “orbital fracture” effect his sight and ability to catch the ball? Al should cut this dude and take away the signing bonus.

  • RaiderTay

This guy definitely may never play again. Atleast not at a high level.

Most of these big contracts come with insurance policies in case a player has a major injury. The only bad thing about the ins. policies is that its voided once the player steps back on the field.

It will be very interesting to see how the Raiders respond to this situation.

  • La Milicia Negra

or as I the cynic guessed, javon passed out hit the curve and smashed his eyesocket… and lost consciousness…

I saw something like that 2 years ago, a tourist that couldn’t handle his liquor… I just think this mugging is too convenient… Las Vegas should be packed with cameras, so we will know soon… But the mugging should be on camera somewhere, especially since it happened in vegas…

  • raider4life

This guy is almost 30! These idiot’s should grow up! But hey, you know what they say about a fool and his money….

  • Silver&BlackBleeder

??? and Dakota seem like the only two making sense on here this morning. You other guys who claim to be Raider fans need to look in the mirror and make sure you’re human beings first. Nobody deserves to be a victim of a crime, and we know from the pictures and various reports he partied hard from his private booth, just like any other rich young person would do in Vegas. We don’t even know the facts and ya’ll are screaming he deserved it.

D@mn, can a brother kick it without deserving to be f’d up…..

  • La Milicia Negra

where are you????? please enlighten us =)

  • RaiderTay

Well this may be a good sign. Looks like he is being released fom the hospital.

  • Well, this whole thing sucks for the team but I agree with Dakota´s position on post 631.

  • Eyepatch

Walker definately poses a chemistry problem now, especially with Russell and McFadden trying to stay away from this kind of behavior.

  • MeMeME

The reports of him being mugged are overblown. I hear he slipped on a McDonald’s wrapper.

  • La Milicia Negra

o/~ The Number Of The Beast o/~

  • Eyepatch

He would not have been a victim of a crime if he had done what most of the team is doing and thats playing it low in Oakland and getting into playing shape. If Walker can’t help the team grow and win, he needs to go.

  • La Milicia Negra

Walker might need to borrow your nick….

  • ???

Thankyou #660 Glad somebody else on here agrees with me.

Its a real sad day when somepeople loose sight of whats important if it was indeed a crime nobody deserves to be the victim of a crime in particular a violent one!!! Rather or not the man plays again and plays at a high calibar takes a far back seat to a persons life>

I am almost ashamed to call myself a raider fan given the number of idiots that have chimed in on this topic today. 🙁 Very Very disapointing and shame on all of you who cant see the stupidity in your coments! 🙁

Of course I knew this blog was going downhill the other day when some so called raider fan said he supported Obama so he could end up like JFK. Talk about no f’ en class!!

  • Raidermot

Maybe he can get a room at in the Barret Robbins wing at the hospital.

  • La Milicia Negra

    read post 554 please…

    Heyes Daze said it best

  • Philo Beddoe

They should have used the Javon money to sign Nnamdi. There is no question about his character.

  • Raiderrave

“Mr. Davis……..Chad Johnson on line 1”

  • RaiderTay makes a very good point. This is a pretty serious injury, and given that Kiffin sounded disappointed in his conditioning during OTA’s, and we have a lot of WR’s trying to make the roster this year, you gotta wonder if there is a clause that will allow the Raiders to wiggle out of this contract, now that he has sustained an injury off the field. This signing is just feeling more and more like a MAJOR mistake, and I would hate to see a talented rookie like Chaz Schilens or Arman Shields get cut to make room for oft-injured Javon Walker.

  • Eyepatch

You guys have too much sympathy for a man that can afford to have armed security 24/7 and yet seems to sniff out violent offenders. What else has he got to do before we realize he is fools gold unless he changes his lifestyle?

  • ???

I agree with #667 on where he should have been and should have been doing. But that does not excuse some of the coments that have been posted on this blog they are discusting and should not be allowed on here people that make coments like that make us all look bad. The need to take a closer look at themselves and think about what they are saying.

  • Eyepatch

Just prey he doesn’t rub off on anybody else. They start to penalize teams for players conduct sometime in the next couple of monthes.

  • Big Chill

You know it sucks Javon got beat up and robbed, i’m glad he is not seriously injured for his quality of life, but he is stupid, why the heck are you partying 1 month before training camp spraying champagen bottles over the crowd, come on that’s what dumb rappers do, your a football player your supposed to be better than that, Al wasted his money and now he will probably blame Kiffin for it, this is just more negative press that the Raiders did not need, and another thing why wasn’t Jamarcus at that raider event on the website with ceo’s from the bay area, Mcfadden was they should of had both representing the team for the future, i really looking forward to this coming up football season but this news of javon just upsets me, i still think they will be a decent team though. but with javon’s kind of injury who knows if he will play, man i like kiffin but he is getting a raw deal also i didn’t see him in any pictures for that raider event either, knapp, and rob ryan were there. anyway this is my take on the state of the raiders, wasted money on javon……..

  • Eyepatch

Its a team sport, Javon needs to learn that.

  • Dakota

Well, if he is getting released from the hospital today the injury couldn’t be that serious could it? I am sure that if he had had surgery on the eye he would not be getting out today would he?

He will probably be just fine by the time training camp rolls around.

  • darkknight01

Thank god he is alive and seems to be doing alright. At least it sounds like he is alright if they may release him from the hospital today.

All I got to say that there are some serious low life losers in this world. I wouldn’t be surprised if this “robbery” was pre meditated. Cowardly act for multiple people to jump on one guy. Freakin punk a$$ LOSERS!

When it comes to Walker he needs to know better….especially after the tragedy of Darrent Williams. You can party but party incognito and be low key about it. Lets hope he comes back from this stronger and wiser.

People, People!! Anybody here ever go to Vegas and get really, reeeeaally ripped? Of course, many of you have. Whether he had a blue-collar $500 bankroll, or a rich man’s $50,000 wad, he had the right to go party on his vacation. He had the right to stay up all night, and he had the right to go anywhere he wanted — whether he was being smart about it or not (and we still don’t know how he got where he ended up).

Other than assuming he was doing something stupid, I’ve got no other reason to think he was anything but a victim at this point. A stupid victim, knowingly putting himself in a bad situation? Maybe, but I hope not.

As for the $15,000 tab for 15 bottles of Dom Perignon — the rumor mill is running wild, folks. Assuming he was spraying the crowd (if he did this) with “standard” Dom, his bill for 15 bottles would’ve been more in the $2,000 range — a far cry from $15K.

The best news here is that Walker’s alive. Not knowing how his knee/s are for a few days is a huge concern. If the eye heals, he’ll be good to go.

absolutely best post since I went to bed!!1

I’ll re-repost this, because it says it all, it might be stupid of him to be in that position, but it can never be the victims fault…

    hmmm just like a rape case… i guess….

  • Eyepatch

They get you out of heart surgery in 3 days now so yes it could be serious. Double vision for 3 monthes would not be good.

  • La Milicia Negra

if he was mugged, that is, if not its just a good cover up =)

  • Eyepatch

He makes too much money to be that stupid. The best we can hope for is that he is alright high tails back to Oakland and stays there with a new attitude.

  • La Milicia Negra

his hand to eye coordination will be gone for some time… he cant lift weights because that will ruin his recovery…

the only way for him to loose weight is to jump the stationary bike, and pump those pedals as he was going to peru…

  • darkknight01

    Bart Bridge,

i don’t think his injury is too serious if he is being released from the hospital today.

    Which is a good thing…

  • If you were 29, single and had collected almost 13 million the past 2 years with another 16 coming to you, would you not spend a few weekends in Vegas partying hard and getting wasted?.

I certainly would, that´s all I´m saying, maybe its not very wise, but most normal guys would. Walker just has some terrible luck or depending on the circumstances, maybe a death wish.

  • La Milicia Negra

errrh the rich can afford to be stupid, the poor can’t… not the other way around, I don’t follow your logic.. or lack thereof

  • Dave

Take Walker back and get a refund, what a complete moron this idiot is, his supposed to be into football after his injuries, at the OTA-S, but he is in the hospital, fu$$$king ahole.
Al Davis has put out alot of money trying to bring back the raiders to the superbowl, i hope he can find a good free agent wide receiver before trainig camp.

  • La Milicia Negra

    Darkknight 01…

to be released doesn’t mean you as good as before.. it jsut mean there isn’t any medical reason for you to be at a hospital

  • La Milicia Negra

    I agree

  • Peter Griffin is a dumd a$$ on the cartoon and so are you on this blog DUMMMMMMMM A$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!

  • Eyepatch

If you were poor you would not be wearing the above watch on a vacant Vegas street at 4 in the morning, get my drift?

  • Thec

IF you are an NFL player in the month of june you should put a curfew on yourself…

Other requirements would be no drinking period….
I have heard some of the top atheletes dont drink at all so during this time period of camp zero drinking would I indulge in.

Staying in shape, a prereq to playing the game should be “automatic” cause this is what i do for a living.

How committed am i to a team if i dont take care of myself. I am not blaming him for getting jumped or beating or whatever, what about his fiduciary responsibility to the Raider NATION? You have plenty of time in the offseason if you desire to indulger but come on man you play a game and get paid hansomely for it the least you could do is keep yourself to succeed.

We are in a recession, money is very tough to come by, so when “opportunist” see someone they will pray on him/her to no good end.

I would like to reiterate I am not blaming Javon for what happended, but I am questioning his committment to the NATION.

  • ???

At least you understand Big Chill he did not deserve tyo be a victim of a crime.

Is he a idiot yeah for one thing he should have had a body gaurd but to many people on here are implying he some how deserved this that is what disturbs me.

Its no wonder this world is so F’ed up. 🙁 As for rather or not he will be missed on the field who knows his health was still a question mark anyway because of his knee. There really was no gaurntee he was going to have a positive impact anyway.

The questions surrounding his football health before this made it a risky proposition and yes davis over paid him for that reason.

But that is a seprate issue over what happened to his yesterday. The fact that some would even Impply he had it coming is just damn wrong and is disturbing. 🙁

  • RaiderMight

Does all of the news media use the same exact news feed? I have Google News Reader and been getting the same exact news article from ESPN, NFL.com, SI, on and on and on… Same exact thing.

    Anyone else notice this?

  • All the people blameing Walker for geting attack really shows your education level or lack there of!Idiots!

    I agree…

  • Eyepatch

He is supposed to be rehabbing his knee and getting into shape and you want to give the guy a free pass for getting bombed and beat up in Vegas? You guys will see another loosing team this year with professional commitments like that.

  • La Milicia Negra

who here besides MR and Darkhorse blamed Javon?

  • ???

Very good Mr. Money you get the gold star for saying in one sentence what took me several to say. Good Job!! 🙂

  • Philo Beddoe

God, all of the grief that Ocho and T.O. get just for being kind of jerky. At least they’re not STUPID. You never hear their names attached to incidents like this. Because for all of their, uh eccentricities, they are still focused. That’s why they are considered the best at their positions. That’s why Javon is middle-of-the-pack at best.
