Web exclusive: Short passing game OK for Russell
By Jon Becker
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008 at 5:39 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Some Raiders fans may not want to hear this, but Jerry McDonald says the short- to medium-range passing game suits JaMarcus Russell just fine. You can also find Jerry’s web exclusive column on our sports page.

REPOST from previous entry:
The more I read/hear of Javon’s onfield reactions to his level of play, the more I am thinking there is something really wrong with this guys mind. I’m certainly no doctor, but I have a cousin that has some mental instabilities, a lot of depression and a paranoid personality.
Some of the quick hit description of his short antics after a failed play, he always has some little tantrum action as to show to the coaching staff that he is aware he f*ed up and he is punishing himself already so he doesn’t get punished. Instead of simply getting back into the play and trying to fix it in the next snap.
I’m kinda worried this guy is going to hurt himself eventually. I mean, we are screwed regardless since it seems Kiffin and the staff are already planning for the possibility that he wont play in the starting position. If that’s the case, it really doesn’t matter if he is on the team or not.
I wish they would have allowed this guy to leave when he requested to retire. If he was to get his head on straight and want to unretire, his contract would obviously belong to us still so we would get first crack at him. But allowing him to stay on the roster, make the most money on the team and be allowed to f* up while everyone works their arse off, doesn’t create much of a locker room confidance.
I just hope the other guys can pick up the slack and Kiffin just uses this guy as a straight decoy until he gets his head on straight.
We shall see how this works out. Maybe the Bronco game will work as a trigger to get him into a much better focus.
Too many maybe’s, if’s, hopefully’s with this guy.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
yeah no 1stsss
August 19th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Russell is going to be a star in this league no matter what kind of offense he runs.
August 19th, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Anyone who disagrees is essentially wishing for Kerry Collins and Randy Moss to come back. I’m personally longing for more Rich Gannon and Charlie Garner-type production.
August 19th, 2008 at 6:09 pm
SNB666
You get mentioned again, what a powerful mind you have.
The analogy works best(pittsburgh) this year and I bet as the season moves along the passing game will increase also.
I thought you said the mod was against you.
August 19th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Joe Horn just got released from Atlanta ??
August 19th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Collins and Moss never worked for “us”… Gannon and Garner were a wicked combination… I totally see Russle/DMC/Bush in that Gannon~Garner Mode… and in 3 years…w/a proven WR… it’ll be that much better… until then… Through it to The Truth Miller
August 19th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
No doubt about Z. Miller.
As soon as I heard about Joe Horn getting released today I thought “Hmmm…” and then about two and a half seconds later I was like “Nahhh…”
August 19th, 2008 at 6:25 pm

August 19th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
Is there some reason that pipsqueek Laney is still the coach? What a joke. You guys keep saying “bring on denver”,…well guess what, they are coming, and will probably dominate the Raiders, seeing as how we cant stop the run,…right after the game Laney is canned. Bring on the Lofton era,..James Lofton would NEVER run to the media to cry about how much money certain players are getting. The players now hate him and so do I.

IMO I think Joe Horn is exactly what we need to wake up our WR position. Our WR are too comfortable with their starting roles. Joe would put a fire under Javons a$$.
August 19th, 2008 at 7:06 pm
Kiffin is hiding all the options available for MaFadden, he doesn’t want Shanarat to see anything outside, anything long. Al has probably stressed to Kiffin that a win against the RAT is considered as TWO wins, and it a must priority. If Kiffin can beat Shanarat twice, KC twice and split with the dischargers, he’ll be in Al’s good graces. Those five wins would be considered as (7 wins), plus five wins from the remaining ten games and Kiffin has (10 wins and a new 4 year extension).
Don’t be surprised to see a trick play such as faking a hand-off to MaFadden going right, off tackle, and then
McFadden swings left and take a 45 degree angle to the
side line or open area across the field.
Russell, after the fake to MaFadden, throws to Bush in our left flat running left. Bush being Left handled then throws to McFadden or an open receiver or run with the ball down the left side line depending on the situation.
The trick play might not even be near this senario, but you can rest assure there is going to be a trick play or plays some where. Both Bush and McFadden played QB and both can throw the ball.
McFadden and Bush are going to shock the NFL on 9/8/08.

I stash all my “whacky” tobakky in Whitney’s ass cracky. Hell yeah, now that’s a rhyme…
August 19th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
With the first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft….The Oakland Raiders select…..Brown Trafton……women’s Gold Medal discus thrower in the 2008 Olympic Games.
Al Davis says: “At 6′4″ she stands tall in the pocket, performs well under pressure, can hurl the disk over 60 meters, and had great measurables at the combine. She will take over as starting quarterback for that bust (Jamarcus Russell) our last coach (Lane Kiffin) drafted a couple years ago and I will be rightfully hailed as a visionary and a groundbreaker for having the first female quarterback in the NFL”.
August 19th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
That would make a WACK title for my next hit song!

LANE KIFFIN= NAILS
August 19th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
The players know and respect the head guy, period…for all that Gruden the supposed “boy wonder” did for the Raiders, he only produced two playoff victories in his four seasons, something that Lane can accomplish in one good year..
August 19th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
AL DAVIS= HAMMER
August 19th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
It must be funny time because we have the resident outsider/Charger fan who knows nothing about his team’s lastest dratf pick coming in here because he’s bored..too bad San diego gave up its chance to win a Superbowl when they let Drew Brees walk..rivers never won in college, never won an ACC division title, nothing in college…a talent, yes, but winner, NO
August 19th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Umm…Nails is Slain backwards. Wow. Anybody want to post a good ol’ football opinion? I appreciate the trick play post but, dude, I got lost at some point after the 45 degree part. The Donkeys suck man, it’s not even as much about beating them as much as it is about winning a game to open the season and doing it on Monday night. Raiders destroyed the Broncos last season, how could you forget?

why not trade walter for boldin. matt leinert hasn’t really shown he’s the guy, and i’d say AW’s stock is as high as it ever going to get.
August 19th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Lane should call dude out…he’s making 11 mill and thought he could just walk in and do it his way because of what he’s heard around the league about the Raiders, but it’s a new time now, and Kiffin let him now about it..because he went to the media about what guys make don’t matter at all, you hear all the time in the media what players make nowadays..
August 19th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
damn Madden Raider, just how many monikers do you really have? You must be like Herschel Walker.
August 19th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
This thread is awesome. Good night kiddies. One last note, James Lofton would have BEEN a head coach by now if he had what it takes, Big Al chose Kiffin over Lofton…Art Shell kept his mouth shut, who wants him back? Lights out on the East Coast. Keep it real retards.

Kiffin is gone. Al is next. The Raiders are circling the drain.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
The 9ers will win a Super Bowl long before the Raiders will. As long as Al is running the team, the Raiders have no chance. Go Niners!
August 19th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Ezikial please go to bed now we adults are talking football not breast feeding!

August 19th, 2008 at 8:19 pm

August 19th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
ZZZZZZZ
August 19th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
I’ve seen a lot of soft predictions concerning are total outcome during this 2008…many 7-9 as that’s a safe way to go. I had predicted from 9-7 to 13-3 but the more I think about it…the more I realize that we can’t really make a sound, prediction, on what we’ve seen and we haven’t seen the whole complete picture.
Think about it. JR came in early and he’s progressing better than anticipated. Al brought in big time help on the defensive secondary, and BUSH is better and more fluid and more powerful than expected. As for MaFadden, he’s the best they’ve seen, much better than they ever
imagined.
Al’s first item on his dream list is slamming the donkeys and shanarat into mental shock and humiliation.
THEREFORE, we have not seen all the weapons that KIFFIN
plans to unleash against the donkeys. McFadden in “open-space” is one key element that will be awesome for us. There is no line backer that can keep up with him, let alone stop him.
After we seen the weapons unleashed on 9/8/08, then I believe we’ll all be able to make better and more accurate predictions as to how we’ll fare during the
season. I believe that all of us will have our wins in “double-digits.”
August 19th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Don’t blame me for Ezekial his father is still unkown but Jerry springer is on it!
August 19th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Hopefully in next years draft we get a reciever like micheal crabtree or jeremy maclin. I would be exstatic if we do.

August 19th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Brien!
August 19th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Riverside that’s fair……….I’m sticking with 10-6 or 11-5………IMO this team wont lose more than 8 games for heaven’s sake look at the schedule and whenthe games are played……we avoided all ofthe back to back eastern time zone games and have only one chance at a cold weather game and it wont be against a playoff caliber team….we start off with den and kc…..two teams with garb d line and questionable olines
August 19th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Brien…you’re absolutely right about the schedule based on those teams when you look at their 2007 record. Some will improve but some will also slip down and it evens out. So ya, that’s a big help. With our coaching staff basically in place for our second year, an upgrade with Lofton and Brad Roll, and Kiffin’s knowledge that he MUST WIN now or get his walking papers…Plus the unknown limits of MaFadden, Bush and Russell, it’s hard to imagine a losing season. And, as previously stated, Kiffin is hiding the things they plan to do with McFadden.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
oh yeah what else was I saying?
August 19th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
So bored- it is all Al Davis’ fault yes it is he should sell the team to a spineless owner who will let the Raiders have zero identity I got ya
August 19th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Hey 408 Raider, I have been screaming 4 2 yrs now, we gotta turn T Howard loose. This guy could b a friggin monster if they utalize his speed properly. I would blitz this guy from every angle on the field, and the end result would b a $hitload of sacks, fumbles, and interceptions. When the defefense scores, and this one will, trust me, it’s gonna b a long, long season 4 all the haters.

Tyson Gay, USA sprinter: Al Davis next real fast receiver, taken with 2009’s 3rd overall draft pick.
Niners get 1st overall pick, Broncos the 2nd overall pick.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Al Bundy Davis has got to sell, and take Walker with him. It’s about time The Cancer-man has to put his inept management aside, and take the blame for his WTF preseason signings, that so many Faider Fans know were soon to be busts……Amazing, year after year how the Cancer-man man can totally f/u a team.
Just Sell Baby………and so it is !!
August 19th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Here is the video of Kiffin leaving Alameda after resigning. Good riddance.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp08/news/story?id=3543517
August 19th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Brien…if you have the weapons and they can help you win now, why would we wait until mid-season to unleash. If anything, we would be sitting really good if we go into our bye-week at 3-1. With 3 and 1 and our schedule, as you pointed out, we can pick up another 7 wins, minimum, from the remaining 12.
I understand you’re probably going by this KIFFIN thing that we’re going to run and check off short and play that conservative game…like the Steelers with Big Ben. But, I believe that more of Kiffin’s misleading our opponents and putting them to sleep. What kiffin says and what he’s going to do are two different things and we’ll see it against the donkeys and shanarat.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
What if the Raiders trade for Boldin? I think by having Walker in the fold the possibility is slim.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
Al Davis missed so many tackles last year
August 19th, 2008 at 8:55 pm

August 19th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Brien #131
If it’s identity you want, the Raiders got lots of identity.
The identity of a team with five pathetic losing seasons in a row, who no established coach wants to work for, run by an out-of-touch 79 year old owner with a walker (due to spine problems), with a dysfunctional front-office staff that is uncooperative and hostile to the media, that is always threating to move the team somewhere else….Yeah, the Raiders do have lots of identity.
August 19th, 2008 at 8:58 pm

Anyone ever read packer and broncos boards?
August 19th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
do you know what they say about walker?
August 19th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
Walker has a history of drops in training camp and usually looks bad
August 19th, 2008 at 9:02 pm
The value of having a “GOOD” owner can best be demonstrated by the exodus of Eddie DeBartello and the emergence of the “I could care less” York family. Since they took over, the Forty-Niners have had the worst overall team in the NFL.
At least AD gives the impression that he cares and wants to win. He puts his wallet where his mouth is. Unfortunately, some of those decisions smack of questionable judgment. Things definitely could be worse for us. We could be owned by the Yorks and be TOTALLY SCREWED. I just wish AD would trust in his initial gut feel about Kiffin and give him the tools he needs when he needs them. AD needs to realize and accept the fact that school’s out and there should no longer be scholarships out there taking up valuable space.
Give Kiffin the support and tools he needs now. He will bring us back to respectability.

Believe me, you have to know someone to get the 600.

August 19th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
yeah jhill thats what i dont like about SoCal…….people always with this you gotta know who to get it from……….total reversal up here…….brothas it at all corners, blocks and ever radius trying to get them sacks off……600? Never in our lives will we do that
August 19th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
Jhill you seen last week’s game? Wade messed up with Haynesworth one play but was pure magic on that TD drive
August 19th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
I did see the game … Wade was decent. I don’t know about magical. JR was making plays rolling out and hitting quick hitters. It’s not like there was this helluva pocket for him to sit in.
C’mon B, you’re reaching. Maybe it’s that GDP you’re bragging about?
August 19th, 2008 at 9:27 pm
They can have my IP address …

August 19th, 2008 at 9:32 pm

August 19th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
the pocket goes bad from the outside especially green’s side
August 19th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Brien?
August 19th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
I think its time big Al pulls one of his mega trades he always pulls out of nowhere. This team is looking to be the best we have had in years and we seriously need a #1 wr. If walker really does not have it in him to play then we should let him retire and take the signing bonus back and attempt a trade for Boldin who wants out of the desert? Any thoughts?
August 19th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
dont worry jhill you will be on my side by the first quarter of the season
August 19th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
I told you I delete the game by accident.
Ok, so if he was so magical, why is he not ahead of Grove?
August 19th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
Brien,…the local loser in this room likes to use mine and others names in here so dropped last one,…hows it goin?
August 19th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Walker is playing oakland for 2008 accept it
August 19th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Again, you’re completely ignoring Grove’s play prior to him being hurt last year.
What happened between you two? It sounds personal!
August 19th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
We will see Grove whiff on blocks and get overpowered…….Wade left Tampa because they got a PRO BOWLER in Jeff Faine
August 19th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
man grove played well only against denver week 2 last year
August 19th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Goin saturday night Brien?
August 19th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Grove sucked against Detroit when NewBerry got hurt in in the 1st quarter
August 19th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
If you say so …
Again, what happened between u 2?
August 19th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Jhill it is personal with me him and gallery!!!
August 19th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
2004 draft is the real reason for the muck……..2003 was the old man brigade trying again and that got dismantled but then who do we draft in a row……….Gallery, Grove and Schwiegert= Team Ultra Charmin
August 19th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
U should reword that …
It just doesn’t look good.
August 19th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Noshadowking #191–
Yeah, trade Fargas and a draft pick for a good receiver. What other good player can the Raider’s afford to do without? They aren’t going to get a good receiver for nothing. McFadden, Bush, Reankin, and Echemanu are as good as most team’s RB’s. They’ll ge it done.
August 19th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Brien?….that you or the loser who has no identity of his own in here or the real world…
August 19th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
The 2004 draft went so bad and that crippled us……..remember Al got two olineman because Norv said they were perfect for his scheme……..al the dictator listened to someone and look what happened
August 19th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
This is the one and only Brien
August 19th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Ok then,..tell me about our tailgate for the niner game please.
August 19th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
I’m not quite sure what you’re looking for. Our line is boderline dominant in the run game, and more than adequate for a guy like JR. I don’t see many guys blowing through our line and putting pressure on our QBs. Didn’t we have a 6 game stretch towards the end of last year where we didn’t allow a sack? How many of those games did Grove play in? Did you see him manhandle Ted Washington in the Cleveland game?
Much to do about nothing ….
August 19th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
I’m watching the Olympics and the USA just won a Silver Medal in the 800 meter mixed-doubles three-legged sack race.

August 19th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Jerry, the part of the column I liked best was the observation that a necessary compliment to a run-heavy attack is a strong rushing defense. That is why we won’t yet dominate using the run alone, and why the Pittsburgh/Big Ben analogy doesn’t QUITE hold water. Russell sounds like he knows what he’s doing though, and scrambling to pass, and avoiding turnovers, is the way to go. Give him some steady targets, and something that resembles an NFL-level run D, and we’re going places. Russell and McFadden … looking forward to seeing the combination in action and developing!!!
August 19th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Brien #210—
Jamarcus Russell to a wide open Javon Walker in the end zone. TOUCHDOWN RAIDERRRRS! Oh, Wait… He juggled the ball…. and dropped it. It’s ruled an incomplete pass. He was a all alone and dropped the ball. I DON’T BELIEVE IT! The Raiders lose on a last play incompletion to Walker. I don’t believe it. The ball was in his hands. The Raiders lose. I don’t believe it. This is Greg Pappa signing off.
August 19th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
Finzel………the NFL has never seen a combo like Russell-Mcfadden ever
August 19th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
They also have never seen a RB combo like McFadden/Bush
August 19th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Finzel ask Jhill……..i spoke on this late in the season in 07 about this is perfect for what kiffin would like to do if al hired him based on the USC thing
August 19th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Jake the Fake- still upset that Plummer is still trying to find his Neanderthal roots instead of playing football?
August 19th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Brien, dude, I hope it’s that good. I’m really starting to get excited for this to get rolling, pinching myself to make sure I’m not dreaming. I was jazzed for 2005 with Moss, and 2006 “The Return Of The Old Raiders” but I’ve been wrong before. 2006 especially hurt. I never wanna see that again!
Maybe it’s the promise of anticipation. We WILL be back.
Looks like we’re the only ones awake. I think Jerry is around too, a bunch of posts just got deleted.
August 19th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Trade the entire Raider team except Jamacus Russell for Anquon Bolding. Then JR will have somebody to throw to.
August 19th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
Finzel we are fine…….every franchise has dark periods…..remember the cowboys years? hey name the last timethey won a playoff game…….Clinton was in office and it was before lewinksygate
August 19th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Jerry keep up the good work. Russell sounds like he is a smart coachable player. I love that the kid just listens, works hard, and grasps the enormity of situation. There will come a day when Russell has to take control and start carrying the team on his back, and he knows that. For now he just has to listen to his coaches: Lane, Knapp, Lofton, Hackett. He has a wealth of knowledge to learn from. The receiving core is a bit lacking, but compared to what VY has or Flacco, Matt Ryan, jay Cutler, …ill take my chances with the Raiders line up.
Al and Lane should collectively snatch up Joe Horn and Marcus Pollard. For a team that will rely on the run so much, we are incredibly thin at TE. Stewart cant even locate the 1st down chain. Horn could shore up a shaky unit: Walker, Carter, curry, and Horn can all play at this level, and are solid vetrans for a young qb.
August 20th, 2008 at 12:29 am
Guys, any idea why 3 posts have vanished, zero swearing, etc
August 20th, 2008 at 12:31 am
OK,its Biff
August 20th, 2008 at 12:36 am
Im saying its time for back to the 70s and 80s,Team of the decades, the Greatness of the Raiders is in the Future

August 20th, 2008 at 12:59 am
I hope Kiffin gets to be GM and Al Davis leaves. Then we can finally have a good team for once
August 20th, 2008 at 1:01 am
Biff this isnt the 70s or 80s when football was archaic….this is a new day and that type of football doesnt work….we still runthe Al Davis offense
August 20th, 2008 at 1:05 am
Brien
ur a brotha……thought I was alone for a while. To anyone that will be there, I’m going to the game Nov. 30th and am sitting in sec. 116 row 9 seat 10. Any of the bloggers should come holla at me. Btw I saw a couple of press conferences where al missed some tackles….u would think a veteran like him would have better technique, he got a bit sloppy.
Barring injury Walker goes for a 1k this year at least, and no Whitney not that kilo. For people that want him gone imagine our receivers without him, pretty grim.
Kiffin wants talent and competition but is ok with releasing Ed Hartwell??? He must be off that purp.
Let Walter kill the last presseason game and matt schaub him and fargas….we could get a 3rd for walter and prolly a 4th maybe a 3rd for Fargas. Some team will get desperate for a Qb around week 3 and the texans have no legit starting RB. They are running a similar zone blocking scheme that we are and the godfather Alex Gibbs there. Fargas has proven he is effective in it so they may feel a need to part with a pick for him.
August 20th, 2008 at 1:11 am
For #168 Garthraider – In answer to your question, you kinda had to be there. I mean, I SAW it, but I can’t really explain it. Sort of an absolute for the blog … something … HAPPENED. Good night.
August 20th, 2008 at 1:11 am
Severe I was in the north endozne during the 49er game…….I was the dude with the Dreads who stood up in his seat mocking the 49ers fans!!!!
August 20th, 2008 at 1:13 am
Garth brien was representing to hard thats all
August 20th, 2008 at 1:26 am
Trade for Boldin now, for a 1st rounder because we won’t be able to pay another unproven Top 5 Draftpick anyway!!!
Chaz Schilens was the only WR which makes some plays right now and he won’t be able to carry us to the Playoff’s, but Boldin will!
August 20th, 2008 at 1:30 am
This would be my 1st game… Pretty sad for 21 year old fan, I know. Hey B were u on tv??? I didnt DVR the game so if they showed u I missed it.
August 20th, 2008 at 1:31 am
Chaz Schilens sure kills those guys who will be out on the street this next week huh
August 20th, 2008 at 1:32 am
Severeraider–
What good would trading Fargas and Walter for draft choices do for this years team? Aren’t some guys who can play what we are needing right now? Or do you think we are just in great shape right now? Evidently the teams coach doesn’t feel that way.
August 20th, 2008 at 1:34 am
If Kiffin doesnt shape up……Al don’t get anymore USC trash coaches or players. I’m sick of these guys already
August 20th, 2008 at 1:37 am
Brien-
Your first post was at 7:47 pm tonight. Working hard tonight, huh buddy?
August 20th, 2008 at 2:15 am
The Raiders will not have another winning season this decade, and probably much longer, if Kiffin isn’t given 3 years. Mark my words.
August 20th, 2008 at 4:12 am
I have a feeling that Jevon Walker will come through. The main weakness he had was his knee. He’s creating “separation” and seems to be running well.
He’ll get his head together and work it out with Jammy.
Walker is still an overpriced head case, but he could come through! Don’t give up on him without giving him a chance.
August 20th, 2008 at 4:53 am

August 20th, 2008 at 4:58 am
C-Fan…
do you think its BS from both Javon and Kiffin’s part? they just pretending that Javon has some problems..?
August 20th, 2008 at 6:01 am
Endless speculation, thats all we have at this point. Anxiety is running wild here. The only way we know for sure is after the results of the first three games, and then we will see clearly the direction of this team. Until then we can only speculate.
August 20th, 2008 at 6:08 am
Drisan James, Michael Waddell, Rashad Baker, Chris Johnson needs to be cut, very soon..
I like Branch gets to return kicks with one hand, if he can that, when he gets both hands back he will be even better =)
I’d like to see what Rankin could do as a returner..
August 20th, 2008 at 6:57 am
Chris Johnson is our #4 CB and has had a good camp.
LMN, who do you see as our 4th CB if Johnson is cut?!
August 20th, 2008 at 7:03 am
Al Davis knows that Lane Kiffin is a young maverick. What’s the reason that Lane Kiffin is STILL STANDING and is leading our Raiders in the right direction. There’s a method to his madness and it shows. It’s Als job to keep his young maverick on his toes which trickles down to his team. It’s a breath of fresh air to see that no ones job is safe anymore. It’s been a long time coming.Coach Kiffin and our Raiders are made of hard rubber and THE HATERS are made up of glue, everything bounces off of them and sticks to YOU.Hi HATERS Bye HATERS.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:09 am
Per PFT, Shawn Merriman went to visit Dr James Andrews in Alabama for persistant knee pain. Too bad. May need to have debris cleaned out.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:11 am
BSJ..
“Chris Johnson is our #4 CB and has had a good camp.”
what do you base this on? I mean, where have you heard positive news about this kid?
He drops the ball faster than JLH and is too skinny for my taste..
lets keep him then, I just never heard or watched him do anything useful, I like this Sanchez kid, I think he could be good, but this season he is just too green..
Hiram Eugene if he got cut, wouldn’t hurt my feelings either..
August 20th, 2008 at 7:14 am
DDawg, DHall, Morrison, Burgess, Namdi, Kiffin, Knapp, Papa, Kwame, Howard, Lechler INTERVIEWS…
http://www.sports1140.com/pages/1933345.php
August 20th, 2008 at 7:19 am
LMN—Sanchez is horrible. Too slow & too small. Other than that he’s great. Reminds me of Lil Stui. Eugene isn’t much better. One who has impressed me is Kwame Harris. Not only is he a very smart guy he has taken to Cable’s system and will be a huge improvement over BSims. I really think Walker’s days are numbered. Kiffin doesn’t like him and is going to push him over the edge. Watch for the two guys with butterfly nets driving the truck with square wheels to come get his azz.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:29 am
LMN,
Our CB depth chart has been an occasional topic throughout camp following the Fabian trade and Branch draft. I don’t have any specific quotes, but I recall a few instances where Johnson was noted to be playing well. In the games he has looked better then Waddell, Eugene, and Baker – all 3 of which should not be on our 53.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:35 am
BSJ..
I agree with post 199, 100%..
August 20th, 2008 at 7:35 am
And I hate to admit it, but Carr was a pretty good 4th CB himself – underwhelming as a returner and safety, but quick to the ball in man coverage.
At least Johnson has a little more experience this year in our system. We’ve got to keep at least 4 CBs, so the real point is: KEEP ASO, HALL AND ROUTT HEALTHY.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:35 am
Bolt smashes 200m record for Gold. AD, sign him up. He’d get separation ala Bullet Bob Hayes. Then we could see JaMarcus’s true arm strength. lol
August 20th, 2008 at 7:37 am
I agree. Johnson has looked alright in preseason. Even if you think he’s not that great, he’s our best option right now at #4. We need at least 4 CB’s.
Waddell gets burned too often, even by 2nd and 3rd string competition. Eugene and Baker are safeties. They’ll probably keep one of those two (along with Cooper). Most likely it will come down to special teams.
Like much of the roster, there is very poor depth. I hope they stay healthy. I hate having the bye week so early.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:38 am
exLA..
problem is he would reach the endzone before the Center hands over the snap…
August 20th, 2008 at 7:39 am
Bo—CJohnson has actually done a fairly good job and I am certain he makes the 53. Baker may or may not make it. Waddell, Eugene, Sanchez and Bowie all will be waitin tables somewhere come September. Why does Kiffin still keep insisting that DeAngelo’s hand is just bruised when all other reports say something is broken? I like our secondary this year and I think it will be top 5 in pass defense.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:40 am
okay.. i was a bit too fast dissing C-johnson, but the rest of the bunch should be released asap.. I fear they drag the rest of the team in their direction..
Drisan James, Michael Waddell, Rashad Baker and Hiram Eugene..
Cut’em, cut’em now..
August 20th, 2008 at 7:41 am
LMN,
Bolt can’t release before the center snap. No problem. lol
August 20th, 2008 at 7:41 am
Post# 203. Actually, I forgot about Branch. They want to see what this kid’s got. Unless they keep 5 safeties, both Eugene and Baker may go. Keep Cooper and Branch.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:43 am
Raider4life – where have you read that it’s broken? Just curious…
From all reports I’ve read, his doctor said he had torn ligaments and the Raiders are expecting the hand to be ready to go by the opener.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:43 am
Add Bowie to the cut list LMN.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:45 am
Branch is a keeper.. he is already out of the group; “need to prove something”
Branch is on the 53man roster..
August 20th, 2008 at 7:45 am
We should look at cuts around the league at the 53 cut down, if we want a 5th CB.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:48 am
Sac—You are correct. “Torn” ligaments is actually what I heard, but Kiffin seems to think he is fine. Not sure how serious torn ligaments in a hand is.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:49 am
BSJ..
yeah shame on me, how the heck could i forget him.. oh well I guess he is easy to forget =)
John Bowie. Grant Irons, Drisan James, Michael Waddell, Rashad Baker and Hiram Eugene..
I’d like to cut Cooper too, but he is still to important on ST, hoped Adam Achooo would have taken his spot..
August 20th, 2008 at 7:53 am
Raider4life – Yeah, I’m not sure either. They haven’t expanded a whole lot. You would think they would sit him but, who knows…maybe this is some kind of lesson on being tough. We’ll need our guys to be tough this year since there’s such a drop off from the starters to 2nd stringers.
August 20th, 2008 at 7:57 am
nobody knows what Halls injury is before we get the medical explanation.. so far we have heard 5-7 different injuries to his arm.. we don’t know if its his arm, wrist or elbow..
So its pure speculation..
talking about injuries, what about Nnamdi’s foot?
August 20th, 2008 at 7:58 am
OK, now I’m on record for our final roster if we don’t sign anyone new (which would be a BUMMER). Madsen, Alston, Joseph, and Archuleta are my notable cuts. Had to keep Wand for OL depth and Wakefield for TE/OL depth, unfortunately. Without remorse I would dump Wand, Williams, Echemandu, Ekejiuba, Schilens, Wakefield, Stewart or Henderson if a better player becomes available after cutdowns.

Morning NATION!
LMN your guys are down by 1 in team handball.. that ishts kinda cool to watch…
Jamarcus will be fine! It is his destiny to be a superstar for the Oakland Raiders!
August 20th, 2008 at 8:25 am
408..
yeah we lost that one.. sad, first time in our coach career he didn’t get any metal..
but our offense hasn’t worked as it usually does..
Our coach, the dude that looks like a girl, is the best coach ever, everything he touches he usually wins..
I was thinking Al Davis should offer i´him a trip to Oakland =)
August 20th, 2008 at 8:28 am
408..
I hope someday Handball will have success in the US, its more american friendly than other european sports, because its fast paced, lot of goals..
I was thinking all those who isn’t good enough to the pro leagues (Basket, baseball and football), would have a professional sport for them here..
August 20th, 2008 at 8:29 am
Raiderhomey Says:
August 19th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Hey 408 Raider, I have been screaming 4 2 yrs now, we gotta turn T Howard loose. This guy could b a friggin monster if they utalize his speed properly. I would blitz this guy from every angle on the field, and the end result would b a $hitload of sacks, fumbles, and interceptions. When the defefense scores, and this one will, trust me, it’s gonna b a long, long season 4 all the haters.
…………….
I hope our D scores and scores alot I feel we’ll need them to do just that and well be a wild card team!
August 20th, 2008 at 8:33 am
LMN
I’d pay to go watch that live! All they need is some hott chearleaders and lots of beer and I think we’d have a hit! Way better then soccer IMO
August 20th, 2008 at 8:35 am
I really think, its a mistake still keeping Kiffin as our Head Coach, to me its clear hes not commit with ou team.
August 20th, 2008 at 8:37 am
Al davis try with all his money to make this year a better team , and the only thing i hear from kiffin its complains
August 20th, 2008 at 8:37 am
LMN
the troll was posting as you again yesterday! But I knew it wasnt you he had 666 fooled tho!
August 20th, 2008 at 8:39 am
408..
can you see, those aren’t skinny, small guys?
I have a dream to get about 12 colleges to start a program, then you guys later could compete in the World Cup.. and OG.. 12 schools, and seed is there..
So if I ever become rich, I’ll pay those schools to start a program.. its a great TV sport..
August 20th, 2008 at 8:39 am
ENP
I dissagree brethren Kiffin is excatly what this team needs! He has the guys buying in to the system and playing harder then they have in years! IMO
August 20th, 2008 at 8:40 am
You cant complain against an owner who invest more than 100 millions in the team.
I mean I didnt like all the adds, But to my vision, I cant complain about the owner
August 20th, 2008 at 8:43 am
408..
one of our best guys’ appendix broke, just as they got to China, so he was sent to the hospital, and then home.. our team then on was a bit amputated offensively :/
But we won over Germany and Russia, all very very close games =)
August 20th, 2008 at 8:43 am
LMN
yup them dudes look athetic! If you ever get rich and start your dream can I be in charg of makeing shure every team has hott chearleaders
August 20th, 2008 at 8:43 am
408,
A lot of times i didnt like what Davis do with the raiders, but all this drama, and the way Kiffin its acting, i just disagree, he is puting himself in a position that he is gonna win, and the raiders are going to loose
August 20th, 2008 at 8:47 am
Los…
Justin Fargas will fall to 3rd on the depth chart before long…might as well keep Rankin as a 3rd stringer and trade Fargas for some value now…deal from strength.
Boldin is a quality young receiver…Overall talent is improved with Boldin at WR and McFadden, Bush, Rankin at RB instead of Walker at WR with Fargas, McFadden and Bush at RB.
IMO
August 20th, 2008 at 8:47 am
ENP
Keep the faith! Mr Davis is a hard man to please and I think its refreshing to see the way Kiffin is handeling the job. He is a Raider going against the grain standing for his beliefs.. IMO but I am Kool-Aid drinker #1

But in reality…Walker’s contract makes him virtually untradeable.
P.S. I never said Rankin was better than Fargas, he just makes more sense at 3rd string, financially and depth-wise for the future.

“You cant complain against an owner who invest more than 100 millions in the team.”
Well if he spend the 100 on cheerleaders and not on real players, I’m pissed.
“and the way Kiffin its acting, i just disagree, he is puting himself in a position that he is gonna win, and the raiders are going to loose”
The only way we can lose, is if we let Kiffin go.. but if you buy a chef discount groceries, you can’t expect a Michelin meal…
Kiffin is putting the TEAM ahead of Al Davis’ EGO, ahead of the FRANCHISE.. its make or brake for him, and I’m so on page with him.. We are not great!! if we think we are great, the reality check will hit us so hard.. If we realize that we are a upcoming then it will be mentally easier, but physical hard..

408,
your right if we (the fans), loose the faith, our team its doomed since the start of the season.
Its just that, i dont hear nothing good from my team since 2002, and at times its hard.
Apparently Mc Fadden its the real deal, and I believe he can change the course of our team.
Keep the faith Raider Nation!!!!!!!!!!

Kiffin isn’t looking for excuses. He already said that he’s happy with his starters. So, if he loses with his starters, there are no excuses.
Also, this is exactly what the Raiders need. Davis likes coaches that challenge him – Gruden even said so. It reminds Davis of himself. He doesn’t want or need a pushover or yes-man. We need someone that demands excellence and settles for nothing less. Gruden also had his differences with Davis and happens to be the most successful coach the Raiders have had in RECENT history.

Al should have had his people do their homework on Walker before giving him all that cash. No other team was gonna give him anything close to that kinda money. Plus they should have had a head doctor check him out after what he went through with Darrent Williams. Now the only way we don’t get killed in the cap and be able to sign a true #1 is to force him to retire and go to Bellevue. Tommy Kelly may still surprise us and live up to the contract. The Pats just cut TE Marcus Pollard. Okay, Pollard is now 36 and past his best but, this is a guy with 40 TDs and over 4,000 yrds reception. What a great back-up and mentor for Zach Miller and still a serious upgrade on Stewart and Madsen.

Because of the injury, Clemons may be in danger of not making the team out of camp.”—

And Luke Petitgout, the ex-Bucs OT, is still available – and we certainly could do with his experience on our roster. We have nothing behind Harris or Green.
We should be getting guys like Petitgout and Pollard into camp, doing evaluation and putting them into the competitive mix. Nothing to lose, plenty to gain – and that is why Kiff is getting so frustrated.

Jerome McDougle is a beast when healthy. The Eagles know his injury history and may not keep him though he’s better than Clemons. Also they know it’s a contract year.
——————————————————-
“A source close to the situation has said the Eagles are talking to agent Drew Rosenhaus about restructuring the contract of one of his clients, 2003 first-round draft pick Jerome McDougle. Apparently, the team wants McDougle – a long shot to make the team this year – to take a pay cut. McDougle is scheduled to make $950,000 in the final year of his rookie pact.”

I wouldn’t hate the dirt in the middle of our teams home field if it gave us any kind of advantage, but it clearly does not. Our receivers slip in it, Jano always wiffs when he kicks from it and the backs can’t get traction in it. Defense is affected too. The Raiders need some new digs for sure… But that won’t happen until we win… Money has a way of flowing to winners…
Can they at least paint the dirt green? So damn ugly…

Boldin-Cardinals relations getting ugly
Posted: Wednesday August 20, 2008 07:17AM ET
Anquan Boldin stood outside the building on a serene college campus, praised the Cardinals for signing him to a contract extension and called it “a tribute” to what the team was trying to accomplish. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, that was a different time (three years ago) and a different place (Prescott). Now, Boldin is in Flagstaff calling team officials liars and saying his relationship with coach Ken Whisenhunt has soured to the point that he doesn’t talk to his boss. Those are damaging words from a player whom coaches, management and media have propped up as the new icon of the organization. Team officials pointed at Boldin and told scouts that this is the kind of player they wanted. They pointed at Boldin and told players that this is how you practice; this is how you conduct yourself off the field. Now the relationship has devolved into accusations and denials. The Cardinals have been adamant in their refusal to consider trading Boldin, at least for now. The Eagles, Redskins and Cowboys supposedly could use a receiver, but the Cardinals aren’t likely to deal with those teams, which happen to be on the Cardinals’ 2008 schedule.
August 20th, 2008 at 10:23 am
First off, I have heard 32 coaches complain about the “depth” of their rosters. Depth is a problem in the NFL. Name one team, any team, that if something happens to a player, they’re fine. What if Ladanian goes out??? They don’t have Mike Turner any more. Who’s backing up Jay Cun*ler in Denver?? Of I forgot. Jay Finnerty is. How bout Tom Brady’s back up?? Reed Doughty stepped right in for the dearly departed Sean Taylor, RIP. Everyone has problems with depth. Kiffin said he was fine with the top part of his roster. Thank God for that!
2ndly, Pettigout is under a 4 game suspension from the NFL even IF a team picked him up.

August 20th, 2008 at 10:32 am
If Al Davis was as controlling as he is accused of being then why doesn’t he get Raiders staff write about the talent of Rusell? There are many teams that have had average receiving corps that took chances downfield. John Elway made the receivers better with his talents because the Broncos never went after top receiving talent in Elways first years as starting qb. I feel the Raiders are making it hard to win games for themselves by making the Raiders predictable. The short passing game is good but a deep attack will keep defenses honest.
August 20th, 2008 at 10:33 am
SnB666…
well KoolKell has a point.. its Coach VS GM – Kiffin vs Parcells..
It would had been more comparable if it had been Davis, whom had said our team wasn’t good enough.. but that sums up our exact problem. Davis thinks every team we had since 2002 was able to win the SB.. Kiffin speaks the truth, and I think Al is getting more realistic each day he is around Kiffin..

Edward,
I agree, in order to keep defenses off-balance, you have to be a threat all over the field. But Kiffin is saying that’s not possible right now. Russell has to learn checkdowns first ???????? Then downfield throws??????
August 20th, 2008 at 10:38 am
The lack of depth on these rosters is going to force these apparent FL coaches to actually coach this season…
Thats why the Raiders have no hope!
August 20th, 2008 at 10:40 am
Kind of like Kiffin needed to learn how to lose before he could learn how to win…
Kiffin is a fool….
August 20th, 2008 at 10:40 am
Edward I don’t think you can say that at all. We don’t know what the Raiders are planning offensively with Russell other than the fact that he is being groomed to take the check downs if things are not there. Guys like Jam are going to try to make plays downfield and rifle a ball in between 6 defenders. That may work in college but that is NOT going to work in the NFL. Balls will get tipped, picked, and returned that way. That is not going to work for Lane Kiffin I can guarantee you that.
August 20th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Luke Petitgout was suspended for the first 4 games of the season.
I thought it would be a good idea to give him a shot before but when you couple injuries with a suspension, it´s probably not worth it.
And Marcus Pollard?…come on.
Besides the fact that he´s 36, he can´t block and he won´t play special teams.
Stewart, is not flashy bu he´s a decent back-up who does what back-up TE´s usually do which is block and play special teams.
I´d rather keep 25 year old Madsen, whose game, like Pollard´s is limited to pass catching.
In fact, I would rather give a chance to rookie free agent Darrell Strong who has made a few plays in camp.
August 20th, 2008 at 10:42 am
What strong armed QB’s cannot fit balls into small places in the NFL? Since when?
August 20th, 2008 at 10:43 am
Of course you have to learn the checkdowns first!!! It’s called reading a defense. If a play is not there, what do you do??? Dance???? Take a sack???? Play hopscotch????? Jesus you guys.
August 20th, 2008 at 10:45 am
KK, I am not disagreeing with you. Any team HAS to go down the field to stretch a defense. But those are ALWAYS low percentage plays. Kiffins offense is designed to get positive yardage on EVERY play.

Do we even have the cap room to go after Bouldin? I doubt another team would accept him in a trade.
I would agree to trade Fargas and a 3rd for bouldin.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Fargas and a 3rd wouldn’t get you Boldin’s shadow…
August 20th, 2008 at 11:01 am
I would rather beef up both lines before giving up a 1st and a third for Boldin, although he would be worth it.

So, on 3rd & 10, we should throw 5 yards, because it too risky to throw it behind the stick?

Or trade Hall for him since most people think Hall wont cut it.
Doesnt AZ need a cornerback?
August 20th, 2008 at 11:03 am
The “low risk” play calling sounds a lot like “playing NOT to lose”. A “prevent” offense so to speak which the lauded Gruden employed too often. We all get to see how Ryan’s “prevent” defense fares on a weekly basis.
Man, it ain’t metaphysics. Run the ball, tackle the ball carrier, block like hell and air it out occasionally. Have some swagger!
August 20th, 2008 at 11:04 am
If Walker doesn’t show signs of the old Walker (GB) on Sat. nite Kiffin should put the screws to his head and force him to retire. Then we do whatever it takes to get Boldin in a trade from AZ. Not sure if I would give then Fargas, but would give them next years #1. If they get Walker to retire we should have cap room for Boldin.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:04 am
Fargas, Javon Walker and a 4th -> for Boldin
August 20th, 2008 at 11:04 am
Did some of you guys NOT watch the two preseason games????? A lot of that were things of beauty. They were setting themselves up for third and short. Especially with the ones. That, I thought, was incredibly positive. Now, on a lot of occasions they did not convert those third and short, but KK, they are setting themselves up for a 3rd and two, where they have converted a couple prior 3rd and shorts, the defense bunches up and they go over the top. If it’s not there, have a contingency plan. It’s a well designed offense.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:04 am
Besides Walker is gonna earn his paycheck this year.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:05 am
Post 327 talk to John about your lack of respect, you have a franchis that has reached 5 Superbowls, one as recent as 2002, and you want to whine about it? Get real. Now say a Browns fan may have reason to whine so much about the ownership yet they don’t even do it because they know it makes no difference.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:06 am
Why are all of you so quick to want to cut players?
You sound like Kiffin….
Kiffin needs to treat his players like they are a solid piece of marble….
He doesn’t need anymore items to the masterpiece, all he needs to do is chip away the rough parts and uncover the team thats already inside….
The problem is, Kiffin is no artist!
August 20th, 2008 at 11:07 am
nobody nobody nobody wants Javon “champagne” Walker…
nobody…
not even you… and you know who you are…
August 20th, 2008 at 11:07 am
Fargas is far to important in the locker room to trade him and he has a good contract for a backup and is happy to take a back seat.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:08 am
How many games has Boldin missed because of injuries?
August 20th, 2008 at 11:10 am
I’m not a fan of throwing short on a 3rd and 10 play. I think you should always go beyond the sticks. However, I also believe that you should take what the defense gives you on 1st and 10. How many times did Shell have his QB drop 7 steps on 1st down and try to go deep, only to either lose yardage or wind up 2nd and 10? That is foolish play calling. Why not try to get to 2nd and 5? Then you have the whole playbook to work with, including taking a shot deep. Even if it falls incomplete, you only need to pick up 5 yards. It’s all about playing smart, not who can throw the ball down the field the farthest.

August 20th, 2008 at 11:13 am
#324 is right on. Apparently it’s hard to understand things like high-percentage vs. low percentage. High risk vs. low risk.
Some of you are taking shots but Oakglenn is just saying that this offense will be built to simply move the chains. As opposed to an offense that punts more often (and is more turnover prone) but has a quick strike every now and then.

With Kiffin’s Offense, teams will run against ours, which happens to be our weakest part. Maybe if we attempted to score points this season, teams might, just might pass on our defense, which is our strength….
Doesn’t matter though, this team is going to get beaten up this season….they’ll follow suit along with their head coach….
“I’m more afraid of a 100 sheep lead by a lion than a 100 lions lead by a sheep”

August 20th, 2008 at 11:21 am
Look, the only way we can get a TOP WR this year is to trade a good player and a draft pick. We and three running backs that we know can start on most NFL teams.
I love fargas, I would be willing to see him go to the NFC if it means we can get a really good wide out.
We don’t have enough depth to trade from any other position.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:25 am
Winning the SB is always the goal for every team, every year.
I gotta be real here, after the last 4 years we have flushed our roster. Now we have a very good young core to build around. Lets see what we got this year, and put it all on the line next year. Not to say this team can not make it to the big dance and win it all, but as bad as it has been “pre-Kiffin” we as fans should look at the big pictur and see within 1-2 years we could be unstopable.

Trade for who? Kyle Brady is FA, but the point is moot, we are not bringing anyone an older vet at TE, we don´t need to. But if we would, Brady would be much better than Pollard for what we do.

Well, obviously not, but that is the goal. If you have 3rd and 2, 3rd and 4 consistently, good things are going to happen. Again this offense is designed to move it, grind it out. Look at the first play of the first preseason game. Jam was instructed to go on a hard count, and if they jumped heave it down the field. This is exactly what I am talking about. They’re going to heave it down the field, but set themselves up for manageable downs and distances.

August 20th, 2008 at 11:48 am
Sith — All due respect to a fan, but…I guess one out of three of your statements about Fargas isn’t too bad. Fargas is a great lockerroom presence…but, $3M-per is not a good salary for a backup (it guaranteed his remaining here, though); and, he certainly isn’t going to be happy sitting on the bench (sharing carries, yes, but not just sitting).
Gruden’s Desperate Housewife — The simple offense Kiff employed last year — with the disastrous play at QB, and all the other things that went bad — still had the team in position to win numerous games in the 4th quarter that they ultimately lost (thanks to RR’s schemes and players who didn’t do their jobs).
Kiffin’s not teaching a simple offense, he’s simply teaching basic offensive football. Given the right pieces, no one knows how Kiffin’s going to call the offense. High risk plays, or low risk ball-control, it doesn’t really matter. What he expects is for us to protect the ball, period.
JaMarcus must know how to check-down. Having figured that out — and with his growing confidence — expect JaMarcus to check-UPfield on numerous broken plays this year. For that to happen, though, the rest of his receivers need to learn to find the seams like the future great Zach Miller already does instinctively.
Kiff knows how to put the team in position to win. Time has come for the other coaches and players to do their jobs.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:49 am
Oakglenn, you tell them, bud. Every team in the league has depth issues. Of course, none of those teams are 19-61 in the past 5 years, either. But your point still stands. Sort of. I guess. Ahh, what the heck. You’re a great fan, so I support you no matter what. No matter how wrong you are. That’s what the Raider Nation is all about. I will!

The Raiders haven´t game-planned for a game yet, Kiffin said he´s gonna put together a game-plan for the Cardinals game.
We´ll get a better look at what´s coming after that game.
We need to have ball security, last season the Raiders ranked among the league´s worst with 37 Turonvers and a -11 differential, I´m on board with any game-plan that will lead to improve those numbers, which will translate into more winning.
August 20th, 2008 at 11:53 am

August 20th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Just to reiterate what I said earlier…
Personally, I think Kiffin is going to be gone anyway. And, we’ll probably go no better than 4-12 for the next few years. But one thing about being a Raider fan is that we don’t care. We’re going to stand by Al Davis and the Raiders through thick and thin. Talk to you guys later. Any posts under my name after this are you know who.
