Kiffin still here

Reports by ESPN.com and Fox News to the contrary, Lane Kiffin appeared at his weekly press conference Monday, addressed the issue of his job secrurity again and said he has no intention of quitting.
Kiffin said he will continue coaching the Raiders until told otherwise by Al Davis.

It is beyond belief that Kiffin and Davis haven’t spoken since before the Denver game. Just ridiculous.
Mind you, Rob ‘4th Quarter surrender monkey’ Ryan hasn’t apparently spoken with Davis either.
Perhaps Davis is dead – and Trask and Herrera are just propping up the body in a chair – with a white blanket covering the ropes.

The players need to be responsible for there actions on the field not executing! I was watching Monday night last week (dallas & philly)and the late game last night and WE dont have any playmakers or game changers. I remeber waaay back when WE knew we had a chance down 14 or 21 we didnt give up. Game plan to basic we dont attack!

It’s hard to have continuity when you change a coach every other year. The defense, just like last year, broke when they needed to bend. Part of that is due to the lack of time of possession and points by the offense, and the other part is the defense is not that good.

BlandaFan – 23 points DOES get you something – a nine point lead instead of an 8 point lead – with an 8 point lead you can be tied by a TD and a 2 point conversion – a one score game – if we went for 2 and failed, the bills could have tied us with one touchdown and the conversion – the call again was correct – these things are all on charts anyway, if a coach made a dumb decision in either going for or not going for a two point coversion, it would be all over the media, but this was absolutely the right call.

My question is when is Al Davis going to die. He has taken my belvoed franchise and turned it into the joke of the NFL. We have a coach trying to turn things around and he can’t even take a piss without asking permission. How they hell does that breed an environment of success? Al is detrimental to himself and all these “yes ” men in the front office need to grow a sack and tell him he is wrong. Until we get someone with some balls to stand up to Davis we will continue to be the NFL laughing stock. I guess we are about to fire one more coach and watch him go win a superbowl and become a perennial playoff team. Hey Al take yourself off the oxygen tank and do all of us Raider fans a favor.

It was around the time that Jerry began reporting that Al wanted Kiff to resign I decided not to renew my season tix. This has made me decide not to get a 3 game plan. While I may have not agreed with some of Kiff’s moves (to much run, not going dor 2 against the Bill’s) he has been truthfull with the fans and Mr Davis. One should not lose your job for wanting to improve an organization and being truthful about the process needed to do that.

Well I must say that Im surprised that Kiffin is STILL IN, but its almost like they are delaying the inevitable. Look,, Im one of those thats been pulling for Kiffin although he hasnt been without fault himself. But he’s a young coach who was expected to make some mistakes that a young coach does make. Funny though,, the one thing all the coaches have in common is that they never last more than 2yrs working for Al Davis and the one coach (Gruden) who turned the franchise around started winning was recieving the credit Al Davis thought belong to him, and was becoming the face of the Raiders so when it was time to pay the man what does Al Davis do? Trades him to the Bucs. We have to be the only team thats ever traded a coach. When Kiffin is gone, what credible head coach will wanna work for Al Davis? That why we’re always the last team to hire a coach in the coaching carousel because the good ones dont even want to interview for the job. So at what point does Al Davis asks himself “what am I doing that has everybody calling the Raiders a dysfunctional graveyard?”

After the last couple press conferences, I don’t see how anybody can still say that Kiffin wants out of Oakland.
Last week he said that he wanted to be part of the neat story that would be bringing the Raiders back to respectability, and today he said he wasn’t in it for the money, that he wasn’t going to quit, and once again stated that HE WANTED to be here.
The argument now will be that he is only saying that because it is the right thing to say in order to keep his options in good stance with other teams. If that is the case, he would be lying to the press, the players, and the fans. From what we know about Kiffin, he is everything but a liar. If anything, he is brutality honest. Which is why I don’t buy into this theory.
I think Kiffin wants to be here, he is making progress, and he deserves every chance to try to make this team a competitive one. He’s close to doing that. He just needs more time with all the NEW players he is working with. Yea, let’s not forget that this roster, in essensce, it’s a brand new roster. Once upon a time there was something called “team chemistry” which was needed in order to win football games. We are getting the formula together, and pretty soon we will begin to see the effects of that chemisty. Give time, time…
PS – team chemisty is something Al Davis doesn’t believe in by the way…

If Al is just playing mind games with Kiffin to force him to quit he is even more vindictive than I thought, and for the record, I thought if you looked up vindictive in the dictionary, a picture of Al Davis would be there – he’s taking this to new lows.
Al – if you want the coach gone, fire him – he’s not giving in to you – it’s a pissing contest and you’ve met your match – congrats, you found a good coach, and this proves it – he’s got a pair – Al has nothing to lose by firing Kiffin other than in his own mind – we know Kiffin is not going to resign, so Al, you are paying him one way or the other – if you fire him, you can promote one of the assistants to Interim Head Coach and pay him the same amount you are already paying him. Now that we’ve established this can’t be about pure money because Al has to pay him one way or the other for the rest of the season (remember the third year of the contract is a club option, so al doesn’t have to pay that), we know this is purely about ego. And what a baby Al is being, not talking to his head coach for weeks – if he says something you don’t like to the media, call him into your office and tell him his complaints have been duly noted privately with regards to the defense and personnel and by not resigning in the off-season he has agreed to live with the situation and to STFU about it to the media – dirty laundry stays in house. I’m sure if it was put in respectable terms, Kiffin would acquiesce – if he didn’t, then you could fire him for cause, just like in any other corporation – write him up, council him, and fire him if he does it again. Instead, Al makes it worse with all the bogus speculation and media pressure he’s trying to put on Kiffin – I think Kiffin personally enjoys it, not for the sake of the team as he has talked about, but Al’s already made it clear to Kiffin who this team REALLY belongs to, so Kiffin is in the same dysfunctional ship better known as HMS Al Davis. The next time I go to the HOT, I’m really going to appreciate, in a new way, when they play Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” because that’s what this is.

I am more interested in hearing in happens, not what is speculated to happen by “sources.” It might be nice to report that the Raiders, 10 point underdogs, were leading by 9 midway through the fourth quarter, and Buffalo had to scramble to win.
I’m proud of the way the Raiders took it to Buffalo most of the game, not simply “staying in it.”

Scott is absolutely right, it makes zero sense to go for 2 when you could be left with an 8pt one possesion lead. AlisGod, Just say my bad instead of just trying to stick the knife in Kiffin. Kiffin did screw up by not calling timeouts at the end of the game though. If he would have called time outs and if we could have kept them from getting a 1st down(a big if), we would have had just under 60 seconds with no timeouts to try and get in field goal range. We would have had a shot. So if kiffin blew anything it was clock management.
The real reason why we lost is our defensive playcalling and our defense still cant step up at the end of a game against a good team. Those last 2 drives even Nnamdi was getting beat. Hopefully Al keeps Kiffin and we can continue to build, instead of starting from scratch and wasting 2 years again.

Charged up – can anyone really expect the Chargers to win a superbowl? Now that Merriman went down due to excessive steriod abuse and LT has started the inevitable breakdown of over-used RBs, it seems the window has closed. In fact, with Norvell as the coach, I’d say it has been nailed shut.

I don’t know Dirty, Jamarcus looks pretty damn good to me. So does Mike Bush and I have to say this kid Dmac has a future in this league. The offensive line was just blowing guys UP the last two games and played REALLY WELL the end of last season.
Buffalo had negative yardage in the first quarter on three drives and 7 points the entire lst half. They were sacked three times and had two turnovers in the first half. The only reason they got ANY POINTS in the first half was Jam fumbled on his own 20. Either we really do have some players on that roster or Kiff/Knapp/Ryan are the greatest genuises in the history of the world. Just saying.

Really good game on Sunday, had a chance to watch it all the way in Idaho!
Fun to watch even though it was a loss.
The good: Defense was good until the stupid ejection and 4th quarter. Offense was good until the last 10 minutes.
The bad: Offense could not move the ball to run out the clock. Poor scoring in the first quarter allowed Bill to come back. Had any one of the three field goals were a TD, the outcome would be different. Offense, just like last year, is a bit too conservative. Kiffin is still reining things in and not letting them loose. May be Ryan should stand up and said the same things Kiffin said after the Donk game to force the O to open up more. It is beginning to feel like the Gruden days though, and that must be a good sign.
Whenever a team finds itself behind the Raiders, it can continue to live by the motto: “Just keep it close and the Raiders will fade in the fourth quarter.” This game proves that once again. It is a team effort that was not quite enough. This team has to learn not to fade in the last quarter.

I always worried that coaching the superior crop of college athletes at USC would not prepare Kiffin for the rigors of the Raiders job. I KNOW it did not prepare him for this meat grinder.
Whether one does or does not like Kiffin, we can all agree that he should not have to go through this. The Raider front office is showing no class.

A true Raider fan understands the situation. Gruden knew how to utilize the press and say all the right things ablout Al in the press. He handled it like a man even when Al scolded him. Lanes comments at times made it clear he wanted to be paid and in fact his comments were self serving. Its obvious that someone has coached him so he doesn’t give Al more ammunition. Lane is looking for a pay day, if Lane worked for me he would be fired and him and his attorneys can sue me al long as they like. Most law suits can be worn down over time with countersuits and stall techniques.

Question: If Al(de facto GM) and Lane Kiffin(acting Head Coach) have not spoken in two weeks, then who made the moves to get James Marten and Ben Troupe, and for what reasons? When we got Marten, I had made the point that he doesn’t seem to be a Zone blocking type lineman. The Troupe pick-up seems to make sense though, as Madsen has not worked well in our offense, and we needed better blockers at TE. So is Al making these moves, based on Kiffin’s requests, or just making moves as he sees fit. If these two are in this supposed clash of wills, how is this getting done? Any theories?

Progress is obvious to anyone who has followed the team since Kiffin took over. It was accomplished in spite of the front office. The man is only guilty of being too honest at times. If he goes, I’m done spending my dollars on tickets…and I’ve been spending either mine, or in years past, my father’s, since the dawn of time at Kezar. The worst part about Sun is that the Pass defense was wsuppose to be our strong suit. Weve lost both games because of our pass defense. Go figure.

If u want to see a shutdown defense…watch how the Eagles bounced back and took it to Pittsburgh.
Eagles played passive against Dallas and turned the juice on agaist Pittsburgh from whistle to whistle.
Rob Ryan has not coached a top 10 defense since he got here 5 years ago.
And the defense got rolled on the 96 yard drive that “REALLY” lost the game…if you are honest with yourself…2nd & 20 and give up 18 yards…have the team penned with their back to their own end zone sat soft and let Lynch complete a 3rd & 6 screen pass (several broken tackles)
Raiders pulled this sh&t last year too. Losing games in the 4th QTR.
If they won this game everything would be cool right now. All good…would be 2-1 and everyone focused on a big divisional match up to go 3-1…but nope

Dirty this kid Jamarcus is just special. Think of the throws from yesterday: the two very early in the game to Javon, the TD to JLH. those throws were unbeleivable. He has NOT throw an INT all year. He is a very heady, very savvy guy who is making his fifth NFL start. This kid is just very special and we are very lucky to have him.
Rob Gallery has been unbelievable as well. The RB’s look really good, Zack Miller can obviously play, we just need a couple more playmakers, and maybe JLH is becoming one, Shilens might also emerge. One can only hope.

Dear Mr. Davis,
To start off with, I have been a fan of the Oakland Raiders since 1968. So I have some time invested as a fan in the team that uses to excel in excellence. Mr. Davis, you were right about Mike Shanahan in 1988. Proof is in his record, against Oakland 20–6 Career record: 130-79. You were right about John Madden (112–39–7) as a head coach. You were right about Jim Plunkett, 2 Oakland super bowls. You were right about Jon Gruden, Art Shell, Bo Jackson and I could go on and on about what you were right about, but the point I’m trying to make is, why then do you not trust your own expertise and judgment when it comes to Lane Kiffin? I believe that you are right about Kiffin; I think he could mold the young players and could make a good evaluation of draft choices. Eight different coaches since 1995 should show you something. Why then do I stick around as a fan? Because once there was a Raiders team that believed a person could get a second chance when all others had given up on them, where players had character and a belief in a “Commitment to Excellence”. Believe in yourself, than your team could believe in themselves. Negative comments about a team can only lead to a loss of self esteem and disgruntled thoughts amongst the players. If a person is given the tools to succeed in their job, then the responsibility of their future is owned by that person not you. Tell your coaches and staff to settle their differences and get back to playing football as a team not as individuals. Next time I read how the Raiders fought, it shall be on the field not amongst themselves. I will leave you with these quotes from history:

Yeah I take back what I said last blog, I watched Kiffin’s press confrence and he seemed like he wanted to be here.
Like I have said, I think the reason Al has not fired him is one of two thing.
1) The media’s source is a joke. (very possible, in fact the media has been wrong twice in two weeks, how do we know what really is the truth.)
2) The “investors” Al sold some of team to (some have said it is Troy Aikman.) have a say in operations. From Al past if I was going to have a share in the team, in my contract I would make sure legally i did.

This is a new era , the time of effective DBs shorter than 6′0 is over, all teams now go for tall WRs 6′2 or taller , signing Hall was a big mistake and you all know I told you so last spring! Hall should be assigned Chris CHambers Sunday and Nande hopefully can shut down Vincent Jackson, if Hall is covering Jackson Sunday then we lose, hopefully Ryan starts zone blitzing more. It’s a damn shame one of the most speediest LBs (Thomas Howard) in the league has only a couple sacks in 3 seasons and it’s Ryans fault because he’s too damn passive!

You know, I have seen Robbo overmatched time and again the past five years but I did not see it yesterday. I know, all of the “Fire Ryan” people won’t agree, but I did not see the same ol’ bulls+-t yesterday. Yes, the game was lost in the end. And yes the defense was overcome in the 4th quarter, but what I saw was a defense that gave its all, became gassed, lost Gibril and Warren, and Robbo was trying to find a way for them still to succeed. The Buffys did not outscheme the DC yesterday, they simply overpowered them in the end. Yeah, I know, you can look at it any way you will, you can see the same old failures, but yesterday was a different type of failure.
Me, I still blame J Lee Higg for being a selfish a-hole and giving the Buffys that extra edge to fight on with whatever he said going down the field when the Buffys should have been completely crushed mentally by the excellent play.
The D was as good as can be, sorry Ryan haters, the D just got gassed.

if warren is out for the year that sucks. He was playing very well with kelly. Our depth at d line will be exposed–again on our gm al davis. Schefter has not had anything to report on a firing so its safe for now. If it does go down and ryan or some retread takes over than all local folks should boycott games and not spend a dime on them. Then possibly the franchise could be vulnerable for a buyout to get his demented head out of here. Ryan’s crap schemes are responsible and he will survive another HC?? amazing!

I’m saying there was almost a fistfight in the Raiders press room after Lane Kiffin’s Monday press conference, a fistfight between a Raiders official and a columnist (not me).

The tension had started a few minutes earlier during the Q&A with Kiffin. My friend Tim Kawakami from the San Jose Mercury asked Kiffin if he feels isolated on the Raiders. Kawakami mentioned an article he said the Raiders passed out to the media critical of Kiffin. From back in the room, Raiders official John Herrera – the one who allegedly passed out the article – interrupted the press conference. This act of interrupting was totally unheard of. Herrera yelled, “That’s not true. That’s not true, Kawakami.”
Kawakami ignored him and so did Kiffin, who seemed mildly amused, and the press conference proceeded in an awkward way. I mean, how could it be the same? It’s like you’re invited to dinner at your boss’s house and your boss has white carpets and you spill a glass of red wine on the carpet. The boss’s wife says “Don’t worry, it’ll clean up,” but you know the evening is ruined.
Well, the afternoon over here got ruined – or maybe it got better. You couldn’t make up this stuff, and in a weird way, it’s fascinating.
When the press conference ended, Herrera started shouting at Kawakami.
“You’re a liar,” Herrera shouted. “You built a whole column on a lie. So did Lowell Cohn.” (Hey, that hurts my feelings, John.)
Kawakami put his hand on Herrera’s arm in a peacekeeping soothing way and said, “Calm down.” Herrera violently shook it off. “Get your hand off me,” he shouted. “Get your (bleeping) hand off me.”
To which Kawakami replied, “Do you want to take a punch at me?”
“Yeah, I’d love to.”
And then I heard Kawakami say, “I’d love to own part of this franchise,” meaning if a Raider official slugged him he could sue.
Hey, kids, they don’t teach you this stuff in Journalism 101. I may have missed the exact words in all the hub bub – things were kind of crazy – but I was very close.
Herrera continued to make his point. “Nothing was distributed in this room,” he shouted. “Nothing. Nothing.”
Herrera meant he didn’t actually make the critical Kiffin article available, although according to sources, he directly handed it to one beat writer. According to my sources he let other beat writers know the article existed. So, technically he didn’t hand it out, but he encouraged writers to know about it and read it.
The last thing I heard, Kawakami – bravely to my way of thinking — told Herrera, “You’re welcome to sue me.”
Another fun day at the Raiders. And get this, I went to see the coach get fired, but a fight broke out, instead. The Raiders always provide.

Once again this proves without a doubt that Al Davis only cares about winning just not winning football games. Everyone stop worrying about Lane and Al and all this bullsheet. All that matters is the future. One thing that is clear is that the Raiders are still at least 2 years away from being a serious contender and that the pieces are in place for this to be possible. The thing that everyone seems to be worried about is all the money that was doled out to players who are obviously not worth what they are being paid…Javon Walker and DeAngelo Hall being the poster boys…I think Tommy Kelly could actually be worth it and Gibril is not making some ridiculous amount so he is worth it as well. Who cares about this money?? All it is is signing bonues and escalators. If you don’t like AL Davis then you shouldn’t care that he wasted his money on these signings. Javon can be cut after the year at a loss of about 12 million (5 million of that 16 guaranteed is a roster bonus for next year) and DeAngelo can be cut or traded down the line if he doesn’t start performing. At a salary cap that is continually rising, including an uncapped year in 2010, we do not have to worry about staying under the cap or having enough money to go around to key players such as Nnamdi, Kirk, Thomas, etc. Do you think Al cares about the money?? He knows his days are numbered so he’s gonna spend it.
We only need a few pieces. Stud left tackle (Andre Smith from Alabama should be our target) and move Henderson to right tackle( he actually looks pretty good). A #1 receiver. And another solid d-lineman for the rotation.

As I’ve often said I’ve been a fan since the inaugural season of 1960. But I’ve lived in San Diego since 1968. The football scene is messed up here as well. A phonier group of fans you’ll never see, all parading around in brand new powder blue shirts jumping on the bandwagon.

Shanahan jokes off report of ‘94 sideline incident
For the latest illustration of the enmity between Denver head coach Mike Shanahan and Raiders owner Al Davis, retreat to Monday night, Sept. 5, 1994.
The 49ers and Raiders met in the season opener at Candlestick Park. Shanahan was offensive coordinator for the 49ers, nearly five years removed from his messy firing as head coach of the Raiders.
Elvis Grbac was San Francisco’s backup quarterback. Grbac recently told the New York Times about an incident during pregame warm-ups, a story confirmed by a former Raiders coach.
Shanahan spotted Davis roaming the sideline, as he always does before games. “See Al Davis over there?” Shanahan said to Grbac. “I want you to throw the ball right at him.”
“I can’t do that,” Grbac replied. “If I hit him, you know what he could do to me?”
Shanahan glared at Grbac and said, “Throw the ball.”
Grbac threw the ball. Davis, standing about 30 yards away, ducked at the last moment, as the spiral sailed toward him.
Asked about this during a conference call yesterday, Shanahan chuckled and said sarcastically, “I’m sure Elvis must have gotten me confused with another person. You guys know me too well — I wouldn’t do anything like that.”

Nnamdi21 — That was the sequence of plays that had me cussing up and downt the bar. They let Lynch get away with a key gain on 3rd down. If they had stopped that one, the game is over RIGHT THERE.
Bills punt Raiders get excellent field position and that’s all.
Another telling point was when Kelly and Warren sat out the first down. It was because Kelly can’t go 4 QTRs. Why isn’t Kelly in on every down in a critical situation like that moment.
B.S and that’s why the Raiders lost the game. Right there.

whatever else happens, I know that John Herrera and Mike Taylor will be gone when its all said and done. If Lane sticks and turn things around, Al will fire Herrera and Taylor and make them scape goats for this foolery. Even Lane gets fired, Taylor and Herrera will bget the axe so Al gives the apperance that he is changing more than coaches and adressing all organizational issues: even himself. I have seen too many variations of Al wins. Al is teflon when it comes to these things because he never speaks to the press and can rewrite history any way he wants.

Kelly is still working himself into shape, but it is not because of laziness. He spent the off season rehabbing his knee and wasn’t able to get in the work he needed to get into shape. Hopefully and the weeks go by he will get more indurance.

Mike Ornstein:
During a recent interview, Ornstein retraced his path from toilet scrubber to powerful sports marketing representative. It started in 1975 when, fresh out of Indiana State University, he took a job as an unpaid administrative assistant with John Madden, then the head coach of the Raiders. Without his own car, Ornstein borrowed a beat-up truck known as the “Raider Mobile” and reported for work at 5 a.m.
Then he pulled out the cleaning supplies.
He said he handled janitorial duties before working with Madden from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Then it was off to the scouting department where he would help break down film and file reports. His workday typically included stops in the equipment room and he rarely left the complex for dinnertime.
Working unpaid for the first 18 months in Oakland, Ornstein said he headed to the Hilton on Monday and to the Hyatt on Tuesday and Thursday to eat the free hors d’oeuvres.
“I can’t even look at a little meatball or a little hot dog anymore,” Ornstein said. “Still to this day I gag when I see those things.”
He became a fixture not only at the hotels’ free buffet lines but also at the Raiders’ complex, where his climb up the ranks was successful but stormy. He moved on to the media relations department, then into the marketing department and, at times, he proved as tough and unpredictable as those old renegade Raiders and team owner Al Davis.
According to a Los Angeles Times article, Ornstein “won undying fame before the 1984 Super Bowl victory in Tampa by ordering Irv Cross of CBS off the sideline – while Cross was on the air.”
In 1986, Ornstein punched his fellow senior administrator, John Herrera, during an argument over who had used a movie projector last. Herrera pressed charges, and Ornstein pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery.
“When you work for Al (Davis), you kind of think you can do whatever you want,” Ornstein said. “As a young guy, I was a feisty guy. … I did a lot of stupid things. I try not to do too many stupid things anymore.
“I haven’t punched anybody out in 25 years.”
But when he was with the Raiders, his fellow senior administrator wasn’t the only one with whom Ornstein butted heads. He recalled a rocky relationship with Davis, adding that the owner fired him “three or four times.” His association with the team ended in 1989, when Davis learned Ornstein had interviewed for a job with the Rams, then based in Los Angeles.
Attempts to reach the Raiders for comment were unsuccessful.

once Pft gets a hold of this the story will go nation wide. John Herrera is the next contestant on Al’s chopping block. Herrera might have just saved Lane’s job. PFT has been saying that Herrera and Taylor are the only two people Al talks to effectively shutting out any nay sayers. Herrera is gone. Taylor is next.
Lane is here for the rest of the year and counting in my opion on the perfromance of the Raiders and a minimum of 8-8 record.
Lane is learning very fast and is even more mindful of his thoughts and sharp tongue. Lane will not be ‘ insubordinate’ anymore, and the farther he gets from that monday night debacle, the more pressure he puts on Al to keep him.

Lane is the man in Oaland. I think I like him because he does not waver in his philosphies. He has the same beleifs he had when Al hired him. He answered his critics and defended his play calling in the game vs the bills. The timeout/ clock management thing is something he needs to learn still, but other than that i like his approach to running this team.
He is teaching Jamarcus to be a qb in this league the right way.
I heard Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwin today talking about Big Ben and the steelers today. They said Ben needs to get the ball out and quit trying to make so many plays: taking hits, and sacks. They said Ben is so big he thinks he can do it all, andnow he is getting beat down. Pittsburg is on pace to give up 74 sacks this season, and Ben is already beaten up.
Does that sound familliar to what Lane is teaching Jamarcus right now. Jamarcus is learning the right way, and he will eventually become a franchise qb thanks to Lane’s teaching.

By some of the comments here about kiffin you would think we had this great offense, but we don’t. We have the worst passing game in the NFL. All we can do is run the ball. We converted only 2 out of 12 third downs and this is something to get excited about? Sure Rob Ryan needs to go. We need a change on defense, now. But the offense is just a repeat from last year. All run with no passing game. We will not be successful with Kiffin’s current offense. Ryan and Kiffin can both get lost and never return.

Maybe Al is just doing this, not just to teach Kiffin to keep his mouth shut, but to make him more focused. If Kiffin gets sick of the same questions each week then he won’t comment and will just focus on getting the team ready for our opponents each week. I would be laughing my ass of if this were another team; but the fact that the Raiders front office is falling apart is most likely going to affect the way the team plays. I just want to see wins goddamn it! I’m still pissed after yesterday’s game. Kiffin needs to be able to hold personnel accountable; (himself included) but he can’t if he is just as dispensable as the TE coach. No one can take him seriously if management is passing around articles calling Kiffin an a-hole.
Just for the sake of the team, why don’t they just let Kiffin do his job & take care of the issue like, I don’t know – in the off season? This bull – $hit never stops with this team….

This is becoming a sorry case.Let this young coach, who took over a team that has been losing,and who has stood up and spoke out about things in the Raider organization, and someone in charge does not like it…Coach and continue to give him the tools that will help us win again.
I have followed the Raiders since 1964 and this hurts to see what has happened the last 6 years. I love Al Davis…but unless you are God…There comes a time you must change the guard and let another that you have groomed…bring the fire and Dedication that he has shown over many years.
The reports about the firing..the plane ride and no conversation with the coach…Stop this and give the fans what they need…a winner.
Mr.Davis…it is never to late to learn about life…even at your age. You have fired 2 Super Bowl coaches..that once was in our organization…this young man Kiffin…has a future and he stands up and speaks out…Like a young man that was an assistant under Sid Gillman who took over as coach for the Raiders and in 1964 turned them into a winner.
Then became the AFL Commisioner and was responsible for the AFL NFL Merger.
That young man did things that many did not like.. Is name is Al Davis.

Keep in mind that this is Russell’s 4th start in the NFL. I think that he has looked progressively better. Drops & play calling hasn’t helpped awhole lot. The season is still young. Ryan went from a totally vanilla week #1, to an agressive week #2 (albeit against 3 pitiful QBs), to a great 1st three quarters in week #3. His mistake was letting up, taking off the heat, playing that soft BS prevent crap. Thing is, he learned from week 1 to 2, and from week 2 to 3. Hopefully the mistatke of week 3’s 4th quaarter will not resurface. I gotta tell ya though, he may have been trying to protect D. Hall cause he was being victimized by edwards in the 4th, play after play. It was soon after Hall got beat about 5 times that he put the LBs in coverage and stopped sending the safties.
Anyway, hopefully, lesson learned.
The Kiffin thing is troublesome. I hope that Cable, Knapp, & Ryan stay if only for continuity in the new staff. Gotta keep the play book. God forbid, Kiffen be hired as an assistant Shanahan, Norv, or Herm.
Gotta take the training wheels off of Russell, this week even. Remember Payton was 3-13 his rookie year.
Anyway, I’d never trade my tickets! Regardless, I #ucking bleed Silver & Black. Nothing will change that. Maybe the end of time.

After watching tape of the game, The Raiders defense pitched a SHUTOUT FOR 50+ MINUTES OF A SIXTY MINUTE GAME. A FUKKING SHUTOUT! The only points the Bills scored was the direct result of a Jamarcus Russell fumble where the Bills took over on the Raider 20 yard line and scored six.
Every single person who posted on this site, saying Ryan and the Defense cost this game, is an undeniable absolute Fukking Moron. What the fukk do you expect???? A defense to go out there and pitch a shut out every game???? UNBELIEVEABLE!! I love that. Posters come in here and say, well the 2001 Ravens and the 1985 Bears uh ya know……you have GOT to be kidding me.
Watching this game live I thought that was one of the most dominant defensive performances I had EVER seen. And I will bet my life savings I’ve seen more NFL games IN ANY CAPACITY than 99% of the people posting on this site. Once Warren went out early in the fourth, and you put a back up tight end in his place, Wakefield, AT THAT EXACT MOMENT, it was up to Kiffin and the offense to win the game.

Drive for show and putt for dough. Fifty minutes is great but they have to play an entire game. Up by 9 with the Bills deep in their own territory with less than 7 minutes remaining. A good defense does not lose a game in that situation. The defense lost the game pure and simple. You’re delusional if yo think otherwise. The td toss to Higgins should have iced the game.

The season is still young. Ryan went from a totally vanilla week #1, to an agressive week #2 (albeit against 3 pitiful QBs), to a great 1st three quarters in week #3. His mistake was letting up, taking off the heat, playing that soft BS prevent crap.
I don’t call that a mistake I call it sabatage and he is brutus
Thing is, he learned from week 1 to 2, and from week 2 to 3. Hopefully the mistatke of week 3’s 4th quaarter will not resurface.
He has repeated that mistake since he got to Oakland!
I gotta tell ya though, he may have been trying to protect D. Hall cause he was being victimized by edwards in the 4th, play after play. It was soon after Hall got beat about 5 times that he put the LBs in coverage and stopped sending the safties.
That’s BS first play of that drive to the last and the rest of the game no heat at all! Also if he wanted to throw D Hall a life line play cover 2 on that side and send the LBS! Ryan gets scared and blows it over and over he is a gas can of a releiver in the the 4th quarter!
Anyway, hopefully, lesson learned.
The Kiffin thing is troublesome. I hope that Cable, Knapp, & Ryan stay if only for continuity in the new staff.
Knapp and Cable are gone at year end if Kiffin is Fired!

Another thing that is bothering me is the defensive game plan. Ist game vs.Denver…we had no clue and they had us off balance. Next game vs.Kanas city very aggressive and still almost let them back in the game…a game and a team that has not won in 11 or 12 games.
The Bills game was ours…you must be aggressive. They were getting strong play up front and was dominating the game..until the 4th.Prevent defense prevents you from winning. Look at the Eagles vs The Steelers…Pressure over and over.
You made that young QB for the Bills look like he was Unitas…If we played the way we had played earlier…we win.
Kiffin can’t go and talk to Ryan and ask…”What the hell is going on”…This has to stop.
We have found ways to lose and yes Kiffin is 5 and 14…but remember what he picked up when he joined the team.
Now you have 3 great young backs…Russell must be allowed to be a QB…That means throw the ball to the wide outs and bring back the Tight end to this offense.
The great Raider teams always had great tight ends..Billy Cannon,Chester,Casper,Christansen…were has that arsenal gone.
The offensive line is opening holes and that is great….but until Russell is passing the ball more they can’t develop a feel for where he is in the pocket.
The team must get back to being consistent in winning games and what ever is going on in this Organization need to change and that is real.
One of the Executives for the Raiders in the face of the media and angry…if it happened years ago…you the fan never knew it…he telling him to get his F…… hands off me…Professional…Pride and Poise… Does it still live in the Organization.

There are many more that when they put on that uniform there life changed. I want to see that again and you may also feel that I am rooting for Kiffen…The truth is I feel If you give a man a job…let him do it.
I am a Raider that has had enough of losing…the law suits,the moving,the rumors the firing and some hiring of coaches. I Remember seeing Art Shell as a kid…I still feel he is the Greatest Tackle to play…you could not beat him…but he was not head coach material…Management yes…not head coach.
I always felt he wanted Art because he was a yes man..no disrespect to Mr.Davis or Art Shell…but this is how I feel.He hired him twice…other great coaches would not come to Oakland under Mr.Davis…He wants to own and Control….Let a man do his job.
Gruden….Remember him…young,work around the clock..aggressive…the team was winning.
I am tired of coaches taking all the blame…If you give a Captain a Ship..make sure it has no holes in it…so he won’t sink.

For everyone calling for Kiffin’s head because his offense is “conservative”:
Are we on the same planet? Watching the same games? What offensive “weapons” does Kiff have, exactly? Whom can he UNLEASH on the offense?
Let’s see: Two rookie backs, a mostly-rookie QB. Useless road apples at wideout like Walker. An offensive line anchored by the functionally-retarded likes of Gallery and Henderson.
Summary? Total crap offense.
The defense, however? Nnamdi on one side, DeAngelo on another, a solid backing corps in the middle, safety help with Wilson, a Pro Bowl-caliber end in Burgess, etc.
The fact that Kiff manages to score at all, to say nothing of scoring enough to actually LEAD the game in Buffalo is, frankly, AMAZING.
Meanwhile, Rob Ryan with all his “influence” and “the players love him” and his “defensive weapons” manages, TIME AND AGAIN, to bag the game.
Give Kiffin a chance with an offense something better than Contra Costa High. But, for the love of God, send Ryan packing.
