  1. Scottish Raider Says:

It is beyond belief that Kiffin and Davis haven’t spoken since before the Denver game. Just ridiculous.

Mind you, Rob ‘4th Quarter surrender monkey’ Ryan hasn’t apparently spoken with Davis either.

Perhaps Davis is dead – and Trask and Herrera are just propping up the body in a chair – with a white blanket covering the ropes.

A bit like Charlton Heston at the end of El Cid

  2. R8ER JUAN Says:

    UNO

  3. Blandafan Says:

He should not still be there. When you go up 22-14 in half-way through the 4th quarter, you go for a 2-point conversion. 23 gets you nothing more than 22 if you fail.

    /still bitter

  4. PIG Says:

    I’ll watch it on DirecTV

  5. Dakota Says:

I heard Ryan Leaf is a high school coach somewhere. He may be available.

  10. Scottish Raider Says:

    Just die, baby.

Oh, you have died already. Doesn’t the box smell a bit?

Who washes the dribble blanket every week? Amy ‘Lady MacBeth’ Trask?

  11. R8ER JUAN Says:

Is there any web site that is transmitting the news conference live?

  12. MO Says:

Leave thae Kid along and let him coach the TEAM not just athe offense!
The players need to be responsible for there actions on the field not executing! I was watching Monday night last week (dallas & philly)and the late game last night and WE dont have any playmakers or game changers. I remeber waaay back when WE knew we had a chance down 14 or 21 we didnt give up. Game plan to basic we dont attack!

  13. SouthFlaRaider Says:

Scottish, like “Weekend at Bernies”. This whole process exemplifies Al Davis’s instability and lack of reasoning. Why keep this lingering, if you are unhappy, pull the plug already.

  14. JT Says:

I bet Walker retired after this season for sure. He will take his 11million guarenteed and just go chill in the sun somewhere

  15. Elway's Teeth Says:

This is like a bad car crash….I know i’s gonna be ugly, but I can’t turn away…I just keep watching.

  16. Charged Up! Says:

Davis is waiting because he knows his team is going to get their asses kicked by the Chargers. It will give him a convenient excuse.

  17. AlisGod Says:

Blandafan, I am with you bro. That was an excellent point. I thought the same damn thing too.

Kiff plays chicken offense week in and out. It is as if he plays not to lose rather than play to win. This kid needs to be canned!!!

  18. RosevilleRaider Says:

I’m sitting here wondering if Al told his cronies to tell Kiffin he’s fired, which they did, but Kiffin is daring Al to come down and do it himself. In essence, he has been fired, but until the ancient one tells him in person, he’s going to keep running the show…

    I don’t need this kinda crap…

    It’s frickin’ hard to work…

  19. Dakota Says:

The Lakers are going to kick some azz this year. Bynum is back, Gasol is now PF, Ariza is healthy…time to dominate.

    fuk Al Davis

  20. JT Says:

Michael Strahan needs to come to oakland and stomp Al Davis out LOL

  21. Charged Up! Says:

Yeaaaa……and I am a douche bag! I wanna be like you guys so bad….Can i be in your fan club?

  22. scott Says:

why would you go for a two point conversion?

a 9 point lead is 2 scores, if you miss the 2 point conversion an 8 point lead is only one trip down the field.

  23. Al's Grim Reaper Says:

AL is giving his soul to the devil for 100 more years of life and to bring back Art to coach

  24. JT Says:

Anyone think the Chargers go 0-3 tonite?

  25. Charged Up! Says:

Moderator, I wan’t you to know that post #21 is not me. Please have this poster banned from the blog. Thank You.

  26. SouthFlaRaider Says:

Maybe Al is planning to hire Dennis Green, “The Bears are who we thought they were! And we let em off the hook!”

  27. WCRaider Says:

No WRs are trying to make plays. Walker quit before he ever started. How do you expect us to being going down the field without any playmakers for WRs?

Ryan tanked this one. He should be fired right before Al fires himself.

  28. SouthFlaRaider Says:

Chargers lose tonight, 0-3 and we beat them this week at home!

  29. Scottish Raider Says:

Al Davis hasn’t said a coherent sentence in public for at least three years. He probably couldn’t even manage a quick ‘You’re fired, Lance’.

But he’s probably dead already. Bio-grading as we post.

  30. AlisGod Says:

    Scott,

Kiff said he had a hunch Buffalo was going to drive on us at the end and that’s why he didnt call a timeout. Well if thats what you felt, then why dont you go for a two pointer if you feel the other team was going to drive on you anyways?

  31. Charged Up! Says:

Moderator, I am sorry that I am a douche trying to blog on the great Raider Nation blog. I am a tool of my team and just can’t stand that we suck so hard…..oh wait, I suck so hard!

Ryan leaf is your crown you can wear it. He coaches college moron. Like I said win then talk, all I see is 1-15 and that’s your other hat you wear. Let me geuss you were a Bronco fan that year.

  33. johnnylama Says:

Looking forward to the NBA – agree with Dakota!!!
This is typical Al Davis…we have been through all this before with Stever Buerlein and Marcus Allen. Davis loves to torture those who don’t kiss his ring. That appears to be more important to him than the product he puts on the field.

  34. Charged Up! Says:

Lane Kiffin will be OK because everyone in the league knows that Al Davis is a senile and pathetic old man.

  35. SouthFlaRaider Says:

Al is like Dracula, he’s probably like 700 years old and we just don’t know it.

  36. big E Says:

the sad truth is that AL loves the Raiders and he actually believes hes doing the best thing.

His is who he be. old school but I think he’s never had this position before..

its a draw because every choice he has doent necessarily make the team better.. AL JUST GOT UP FROM BED

  40. Daniel So Cal Says:

It’s hard to have continuity when you change a coach every other year. The defense, just like last year, broke when they needed to bend. Part of that is due to the lack of time of possession and points by the offense, and the other part is the defense is not that good.

  41. Captain Black Says:

They are trying to make it so uncomfortable for Kiffn that he resigns. It is not going to happen, so Al will have to either let him coach or pay him. I bet he gets paid.

  42. KoolKell Says:

At least get rid of the drivel towel, Mr Davis, if you can.

  44. big E Says:

What’s more unprofessional? Firing your coach after only a little over a season, or leaving him hanging like this?

  45. SB909 Says:

Scottish Raider, what’s gotten into you lately? Your posts used to always be these really boring, personnel-related yawners that were safe to skip without reading. Now, all of a sudden, you’ve switched gears to an ‘Al Davis is the devil’ obsession which is quickly approaching the former in terms of being uninteresting. Still safe to skip, though, so at least you’re consistent.

  47. Reggie Lewis Says:

you should make sure you got a replacement before you fire someone, right? My bet is James Lofton. I’d be down with Tom Rathman too.

  48. SouthFlaRaider Says:

I still have a headache just thinking about yesterday. Good teams finish teams when they are down, It just shows you how far we are from being considered a good team in the league. Scottish, I think you are definitely on to something with Al. So, does that mean the Raiderettes are not virgins?

  49. El Dirty Says:

Kiffin has been truthful since he got here that’s why he is in trouble for speaking his mind. If he says he wants to be here he means it. He should have the Nations support for it… He sounds like a Raider to me.

  51. Nation Collective - RaiderNation951 Says:

looks like the Raider Nation will still have Kiffin as its HC. Too bad we still have RR as our DC. 9 coaches since ‘87. 20 seasons, 9 coaches. What a trend Al keep it up. you could be remembered for that insted of everything else you have done.

    dubmazz.

  52. Dakota Says:

    http://archive.profootballtalk.com/Davis8Ball.jpg

lol, I guess this is why 6 of our last 7 coaches did not make it past two years…look how Al picks them!

  53. NATION Collective - JediRaider Says:

BlandaFan – 23 points DOES get you something – a nine point lead instead of an 8 point lead – with an 8 point lead you can be tied by a TD and a 2 point conversion – a one score game – if we went for 2 and failed, the bills could have tied us with one touchdown and the conversion – the call again was correct – these things are all on charts anyway, if a coach made a dumb decision in either going for or not going for a two point coversion, it would be all over the media, but this was absolutely the right call.

  54. RosevilleRaider Says:

He’s a weasel. Remember how he did Mike White?

Al had his lackeys fire Kiffin, but Kiffin is going to make Al tell him to his face, or he’ll just keep working. Al is too passive-aggressive to do his own dirty work. I think he’d rather let Kiffin coach, and torture him to the fullest extent, rather than be a man and fire him in person.

  61. DyingFan Says:

My question is when is Al Davis going to die. He has taken my belvoed franchise and turned it into the joke of the NFL. We have a coach trying to turn things around and he can’t even take a piss without asking permission. How they hell does that breed an environment of success? Al is detrimental to himself and all these “yes ” men in the front office need to grow a sack and tell him he is wrong. Until we get someone with some balls to stand up to Davis we will continue to be the NFL laughing stock. I guess we are about to fire one more coach and watch him go win a superbowl and become a perennial playoff team. Hey Al take yourself off the oxygen tank and do all of us Raider fans a favor.

It was around the time that Jerry began reporting that Al wanted Kiff to resign I decided not to renew my season tix. This has made me decide not to get a 3 game plan. While I may have not agreed with some of Kiff’s moves (to much run, not going dor 2 against the Bill’s) he has been truthfull with the fans and Mr Davis. One should not lose your job for wanting to improve an organization and being truthful about the process needed to do that.

  66. willie Says:

AL needs to give a vote of confidence or fire him ,stop with the drama!Make up youre mind, the TEAM and FANS deserve better, frig, the NFL deserves better!!

  67. Rick The Hunter Says:

Well I must say that Im surprised that Kiffin is STILL IN, but its almost like they are delaying the inevitable. Look,, Im one of those thats been pulling for Kiffin although he hasnt been without fault himself. But he’s a young coach who was expected to make some mistakes that a young coach does make. Funny though,, the one thing all the coaches have in common is that they never last more than 2yrs working for Al Davis and the one coach (Gruden) who turned the franchise around started winning was recieving the credit Al Davis thought belong to him, and was becoming the face of the Raiders so when it was time to pay the man what does Al Davis do? Trades him to the Bucs. We have to be the only team thats ever traded a coach. When Kiffin is gone, what credible head coach will wanna work for Al Davis? That why we’re always the last team to hire a coach in the coaching carousel because the good ones dont even want to interview for the job. So at what point does Al Davis asks himself “what am I doing that has everybody calling the Raiders a dysfunctional graveyard?”

    IM IN,,,(I think)

Dying fan – He took YOUR beloved franchise??? I thought he owned and basically created the team? Funny, you became a fan of the franchise he created and now I suppose you want him to give it up. Nice work.

And what makes you think Kiff is going to lead teams to playoffs and a SB? The fact that he blames others, the fact he’s 5-14, or the fact he went 0/3 in redzone in first half when Raiders could have buried the Bills.

No one is happy with where team is today, but at least come up with something reasonable or constructive. You sound like the guys calling for the 2 pt conversion.

    Dan

5-14 Have you seen what we have to work with?

  93. EMRaider Says:

After the last couple press conferences, I don’t see how anybody can still say that Kiffin wants out of Oakland.

Last week he said that he wanted to be part of the neat story that would be bringing the Raiders back to respectability, and today he said he wasn’t in it for the money, that he wasn’t going to quit, and once again stated that HE WANTED to be here.

The argument now will be that he is only saying that because it is the right thing to say in order to keep his options in good stance with other teams. If that is the case, he would be lying to the press, the players, and the fans. From what we know about Kiffin, he is everything but a liar. If anything, he is brutality honest. Which is why I don’t buy into this theory.

I think Kiffin wants to be here, he is making progress, and he deserves every chance to try to make this team a competitive one. He’s close to doing that. He just needs more time with all the NEW players he is working with. Yea, let’s not forget that this roster, in essensce, it’s a brand new roster. Once upon a time there was something called “team chemistry” which was needed in order to win football games. We are getting the formula together, and pretty soon we will begin to see the effects of that chemisty. Give time, time…

PS – team chemisty is something Al Davis doesn’t believe in by the way…

  94. NATION Collective - JediRaider Says:

If Al is just playing mind games with Kiffin to force him to quit he is even more vindictive than I thought, and for the record, I thought if you looked up vindictive in the dictionary, a picture of Al Davis would be there – he’s taking this to new lows.

Al – if you want the coach gone, fire him – he’s not giving in to you – it’s a pissing contest and you’ve met your match – congrats, you found a good coach, and this proves it – he’s got a pair – Al has nothing to lose by firing Kiffin other than in his own mind – we know Kiffin is not going to resign, so Al, you are paying him one way or the other – if you fire him, you can promote one of the assistants to Interim Head Coach and pay him the same amount you are already paying him. Now that we’ve established this can’t be about pure money because Al has to pay him one way or the other for the rest of the season (remember the third year of the contract is a club option, so al doesn’t have to pay that), we know this is purely about ego. And what a baby Al is being, not talking to his head coach for weeks – if he says something you don’t like to the media, call him into your office and tell him his complaints have been duly noted privately with regards to the defense and personnel and by not resigning in the off-season he has agreed to live with the situation and to STFU about it to the media – dirty laundry stays in house. I’m sure if it was put in respectable terms, Kiffin would acquiesce – if he didn’t, then you could fire him for cause, just like in any other corporation – write him up, council him, and fire him if he does it again. Instead, Al makes it worse with all the bogus speculation and media pressure he’s trying to put on Kiffin – I think Kiffin personally enjoys it, not for the sake of the team as he has talked about, but Al’s already made it clear to Kiffin who this team REALLY belongs to, so Kiffin is in the same dysfunctional ship better known as HMS Al Davis. The next time I go to the HOT, I’m really going to appreciate, in a new way, when they play Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” because that’s what this is.

  95. matt hanneman Says:

I am more interested in hearing in happens, not what is speculated to happen by “sources.” It might be nice to report that the Raiders, 10 point underdogs, were leading by 9 midway through the fourth quarter, and Buffalo had to scramble to win.
I’m proud of the way the Raiders took it to Buffalo most of the game, not simply “staying in it.”

  96. 909raiderlifer Says:

The evil empire is officially dead. It is time for a new light to shine. That light will come in the form of a lightning bolt. The greatness of the Chargers is in its future, the future is now! Super Bowl season in San Diego!

  104. Dan Says:

    Interesting point Stephen.

On one hand, I think all this speculation is crazy. But then again, if the speculation wasn’t true, you would expect the Raiders to issue a press denial. I’m still guessing wins next week and Lance is gone by Monday.

  105. Lord Raider Says:

    Blanda Fan & AlisGod:

Scott is absolutely right, it makes zero sense to go for 2 when you could be left with an 8pt one possesion lead. AlisGod, Just say my bad instead of just trying to stick the knife in Kiffin. Kiffin did screw up by not calling timeouts at the end of the game though. If he would have called time outs and if we could have kept them from getting a 1st down(a big if), we would have had just under 60 seconds with no timeouts to try and get in field goal range. We would have had a shot. So if kiffin blew anything it was clock management.

The real reason why we lost is our defensive playcalling and our defense still cant step up at the end of a game against a good team. Those last 2 drives even Nnamdi was getting beat. Hopefully Al keeps Kiffin and we can continue to build, instead of starting from scratch and wasting 2 years again.

  106. Dan Says:

Charged up – can anyone really expect the Chargers to win a superbowl? Now that Merriman went down due to excessive steriod abuse and LT has started the inevitable breakdown of over-used RBs, it seems the window has closed. In fact, with Norvell as the coach, I’d say it has been nailed shut.

  107. Yniposho Says:

Who says Al is trying to get Kiffin to quit? Maybe all he wanted, all along, was for Kiffin to keep his mouth shut and not try to fire his defensive coordinator.

Al is discussing the situation with his attorney…as soon as they find a way to label Kiffin as insubordinate he will be fired.

    Remember, Al’s priorities are now:

    1.Al Davis’ ego
    2.Raiders

5-14 Have you seen what we have to work with?
    ————————————————–

I don’t know Dirty, Jamarcus looks pretty damn good to me. So does Mike Bush and I have to say this kid Dmac has a future in this league. The offensive line was just blowing guys UP the last two games and played REALLY WELL the end of last season.
Buffalo had negative yardage in the first quarter on three drives and 7 points the entire lst half. They were sacked three times and had two turnovers in the first half. The only reason they got ANY POINTS in the first half was Jam fumbled on his own 20. Either we really do have some players on that roster or Kiff/Knapp/Ryan are the greatest genuises in the history of the world. Just saying.

  115. Kenny King Says:

Really good game on Sunday, had a chance to watch it all the way in Idaho! :) Fun to watch even though it was a loss.

The good: Defense was good until the stupid ejection and 4th quarter. Offense was good until the last 10 minutes.

The bad: Offense could not move the ball to run out the clock. Poor scoring in the first quarter allowed Bill to come back. Had any one of the three field goals were a TD, the outcome would be different. Offense, just like last year, is a bit too conservative. Kiffin is still reining things in and not letting them loose. May be Ryan should stand up and said the same things Kiffin said after the Donk game to force the O to open up more. It is beginning to feel like the Gruden days though, and that must be a good sign.

Whenever a team finds itself behind the Raiders, it can continue to live by the motto: “Just keep it close and the Raiders will fade in the fourth quarter.” This game proves that once again. It is a team effort that was not quite enough. This team has to learn not to fade in the last quarter.

  116. Ron Says:

I always worried that coaching the superior crop of college athletes at USC would not prepare Kiffin for the rigors of the Raiders job. I KNOW it did not prepare him for this meat grinder.

Whether one does or does not like Kiffin, we can all agree that he should not have to go through this. The Raider front office is showing no class.

  117. La Milicia Negra Says:

fines, i don’t care about fines, give teh guys a 100k fine if they want to, just don’t give him a suspension, pweeze =)

  121. bruce Says:

For the idiot #3 who thought we should go for 2 to make it 24-14…do the MATH, moron. A 9 point lead was plenty with a real D co-ordinator.
As far as the rest, God bless Lane Kiffin. He has more class and ACTUAL pride and poise than the rest of that sorry bunch ever dreamed of. No excuses, no alibis, no overlooking stupid plays by stupid players. Being treated like dog crap and still trying to improve, stay focused and win. Anyone who blames him for ANY of this mess should be ashamed of himself. Let’s check Shanahan’s record since he got the ax here. Let’s check Gruden’s record since he left. Let’s check John Fox’s record since he got sick of Al’s bs and walked away. Now compare those results to Shell,White,Bugel,Norv and Shell again. Sickening, isn’t it. Still think Kiff’s the reason we suck? Nice try.

  122. Stephen Says:

A true Raider fan understands the situation. Gruden knew how to utilize the press and say all the right things ablout Al in the press. He handled it like a man even when Al scolded him. Lanes comments at times made it clear he wanted to be paid and in fact his comments were self serving. Its obvious that someone has coached him so he doesn’t give Al more ammunition. Lane is looking for a pay day, if Lane worked for me he would be fired and him and his attorneys can sue me al long as they like. Most law suits can be worn down over time with countersuits and stall techniques.

  123. Cole Ford Says:

Lets stop complaining for a minute and try to remember the happier days when Lance joined the Raider Nation, here is an old photo of Mr. Davis, Amy Trask, and Lance Kiffin:

    Fire Rob Ryan!!!

  127. BART Bridge Brigade Says:

Question: If Al(de facto GM) and Lane Kiffin(acting Head Coach) have not spoken in two weeks, then who made the moves to get James Marten and Ben Troupe, and for what reasons? When we got Marten, I had made the point that he doesn’t seem to be a Zone blocking type lineman. The Troupe pick-up seems to make sense though, as Madsen has not worked well in our offense, and we needed better blockers at TE. So is Al making these moves, based on Kiffin’s requests, or just making moves as he sees fit. If these two are in this supposed clash of wills, how is this getting done? Any theories?

  128. LANE KIFFIN Says:

i should of gone for two to make it a 10 point game.

  129. Raiderkoolaid Says:

  131. PA RAIDER Says:

The only problem i have withe Kiffin yesterday is, he could of got the ball back with 40+ seconds left in the game. With Higgens and Sea Bass it would of been a chance anyway???

  132. Tom Rathman Says:

Guys. Whats up? Did you see how that sorry ass d gave up yesterday. If I was the head coach, I would have kicked Rob Ryan and his prevent defense in the ding ding!

  133. Oakglenn Says:

BTW, El Dirty, you’re right, Morrsion was telling Ryan he thought they should play more aggressively. Of course players ALWAYS want to go for it.

  134. Will D Says:

As much as I like Kiffin. After he saw the defense “tank it”, I don’t think he tried to win. That’s why he didn’t call timeout. Kiffin’s probably thinking if they’re going to fire me, let them do it now and get it over with.

  135. 909raiderlifer Says:

“By the time it (Kiff’s press conference) was over, a Raiders official was yelling at a reporter.”—J. Jones.

  136. El Dirty Says:

    Oak

J-Mac is killing me. I was talking about this with Shawn earlier. I dont see any touch on his passes after 15 yards. Dont get me wrong I think he will be great. I just wish he was closer to a second yr QB. That what I’m seeing. Bush is a monster (Big Fan)! My areas of concern are WR,FB,OL so the only thing I’m happy with is our RB’s

  137. Silver&Bleak Says:

Progress is obvious to anyone who has followed the team since Kiffin took over. It was accomplished in spite of the front office. The man is only guilty of being too honest at times. If he goes, I’m done spending my dollars on tickets…and I’ve been spending either mine, or in years past, my father’s, since the dawn of time at Kezar. Al Davis was once an NFL giant…now I can’t help but visualize him as paces around his home, plotting Kiffin’s demise, appearing very much like Gary Oldman’s Dracula in Bram Stoker’s flick…
    just retire baby…

  138. EMRaider Says:

An insert from the press conference:

    Kiffin:
“I have not been told by Al Davis that I’m not the head coach, so until he tells me directly we’re going to keep plugging away,” Kiffin said when asked whether he had been informed by team officials of his impending firing. “If we believe everything that was said around here, we’d be in a lot of trouble as a team.”

So there’s other rumors flying around about other stuff within the organization?…about players?…coaches?…
    No way… (sarcasm)

However, the job rumor has to be taken seriously. For the only fact that no one has come out and publicly dennounced it.

Which is why I believe Kiffin hasn’t straight up asked about his job to the boss. Well, until today, when he made that statement of “I have not been told by Al Davis that I’m not the head coach, so until he tells me directly we’re going to keep plugging away,”

I think that was his way to saying, c’mon Al, either put up or shut up.

Kiffin has put up, now it’s up to Al to either fire him, or shut up.

  139. CU! Says:

BREAKING NEWS ON ESPN, Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Raiders still suck.

  140. Joe Says:

Some of these comments are downright absurd. Why bash Al Davis? Does he make the calls? Blame him for what he deserves-retreads and rookie coaches. Shanahan without Elway is a bridesmaid, Gruden without Tony Dungy’s team is the same. How many superbowls has Fox won? Bash Kiffin’s play calling. Bash Davis for drafting Russell since after a full year on th team and a heavy off season, and despite playing at a major college, he can’t be trusted to pass the ball in the red zone. Bash D. Hall for stealing Davis’ money!Bash Ryan for allowing Hall to do it. Bash Kiffin for not going over to Ryan and saying-get Hall out or move him up. Bash Kiffin for insisting on using McFadden when he couldn’t make a cut. As long as Kiffin is there we will keep losing.

  141. darkknight01 Says:

Starting over with a brand new playbook and terminology when the season has already started would be plain and simply SUICIDAL for the offense!

The reporters (not including you, Jerry) just repeat the hot story and then it’s all over the place. Those guys have been played and manipulated (perhaps a little too willingly thereby calling their journalistic integrity into question) by the inside HQ source again! I’m almost as disgusted with the journalists as i am with Davis himself.

  146. Senile Kings' Aricept Says:

….Just whose idea was it to go with only three defensive tackles ? ….Oh…never mind….

  147. Will D Says:

Silver&Bleak I agree. Every Sunday i’m listening to the game on the computer. Al davis is ruining his legacy.

  148. RaiderTay Says:

The worst part about Sun is that the Pass defense was wsuppose to be our strong suit. Weve lost both games because of our pass defense. Go figure.

Good teams know how to put it away. We are obviously not there yet.

BTW What a pas by JRuss. That was a perfect laser. Shows you that this guy has talent and will be dangerous once he gets some recievers.

  149. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

If u want to see a shutdown defense…watch how the Eagles bounced back and took it to Pittsburgh.

Eagles played passive against Dallas and turned the juice on agaist Pittsburgh from whistle to whistle.

Rob Ryan has not coached a top 10 defense since he got here 5 years ago.

And the defense got rolled on the 96 yard drive that “REALLY” lost the game…if you are honest with yourself…2nd & 20 and give up 18 yards…have the team penned with their back to their own end zone sat soft and let Lynch complete a 3rd & 6 screen pass (several broken tackles)

Raiders pulled this sh&t last year too. Losing games in the 4th QTR.

If they won this game everything would be cool right now. All good…would be 2-1 and everyone focused on a big divisional match up to go 3-1…but nope

Thanks Rob —-you changed the way u coached in the 4th QTR

  150. Javon Walker Says:

    Hey Guys………………I suck huh?

  151. Jim Lofton Says:

Kiffin will never be fired…so screw all of you…bunch of crapheads who know nothing,..I will be at the game sunday, drunk, stoned, loaded on Norco,..so what…bringing a Charger bud to the game,…sucks that Gerrard Warren out for the year, that hurts.

  152. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

RaiderTAy — our pass defense is our BIGGEST weakness…specifically, DeAngelo Hall a big blazin bust

    Go figure

  153. Cole Ford Says:

Hey Joe, you must have been a Raiders fan for only a year or so (no rhyme intended). The Raiders suffer from a pattern of incompetence which comes straight from the top. Davis is to blame for not letting his coaches coach.

  159. Oakglenn Says:

Dirty this kid Jamarcus is just special. Think of the throws from yesterday: the two very early in the game to Javon, the TD to JLH. those throws were unbeleivable. He has NOT throw an INT all year. He is a very heady, very savvy guy who is making his fifth NFL start. This kid is just very special and we are very lucky to have him.
Rob Gallery has been unbelievable as well. The RB’s look really good, Zack Miller can obviously play, we just need a couple more playmakers, and maybe JLH is becoming one, Shilens might also emerge. One can only hope.

  160. Charged Up! Says:

  166. Javon Walker Says:

It affected my hamstring, which hurt my big toe, which hurt my feelings, so I had to come out of the game.

  167. Brien Says:

rather kiffin stays or goes……..trouble is on the way in 2008. No Gerard Warren makes our dline even more barren of pass rushers. Dammit why did William Joseph get sliced? This is beyond crazy.

  168. Brien Says:

Raiders need to put Morrison on the outside……….this MLB experiment needs to stop

  169. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

We should have signed Bernard Berrien….at least he works hard. Shoot, should have kept Porter….Javon Walker is terrible…I mean terrible

DeAngelo Hall is a below average cornerback…he is a bust too…

Do these guys have any pride? They are the difference (with Rob Ryan) from being 2-1

  170. Leigh Taylor Says:

The Raiders football team would be better served by Al Davis stepping down than by firing Kiffin.

  171. DoneDeal Says:

NFL needs to step in and end this debacle.

THE MOST RIDICULOUS FRANCHISE IS ALL OF SPORTS

    THE OAKLAND RAIDERS

  172. DeAngelo Hall Says:

Hey I got a pick yesterday. What the hell do you want. My toe hurt yesterday too. Maybe it was Nnamdi’s fault. He is on the other side. Maybe if he did not play so wel, they would throw to his side more and not pick on me because I can’t play.

Jeez why don’t you just leave me alone already!

  173. Charged Up! Says:

Talk to you all later. I got to get ready for the game. Just a warm up for next week’s real massacre. 49-0 Chargers over the Gayduhs.

  174. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

Gibril Wilson was a decent signing. He tackles well.

But Walker & Hall are just not up to par….

CAn you imagine the turnovers we would get if QBs had to throw Nnamdi’s way 10x a game….

We were better off with Routt, the 2nd round pick and the 70 million

  175. Charged Up! Says:

I meant I have to go play with myself. Rivers gives me such a big bonerz.

  177. RaiderTay Says:

S&B – Nation Collective – I was so frustrated watching HAll play 7 yds off the damn ball yest in the 4th qtr. I figured we were in a prevent, but why was Nandi presssing. I dont know what the hell Hall is doing out besides getting smoked.

Of all thos 4th qtr passes. I cant recall one going to Nandi. Ridiculous!

  178. Raider68 Says:

    Dear Mr. Davis,
To start off with, I have been a fan of the Oakland Raiders since 1968. So I have some time invested as a fan in the team that uses to excel in excellence. Mr. Davis, you were right about Mike Shanahan in 1988. Proof is in his record, against Oakland 20–6 Career record: 130-79. You were right about John Madden (112–39–7) as a head coach. You were right about Jim Plunkett, 2 Oakland super bowls. You were right about Jon Gruden, Art Shell, Bo Jackson and I could go on and on about what you were right about, but the point I’m trying to make is, why then do you not trust your own expertise and judgment when it comes to Lane Kiffin? I believe that you are right about Kiffin; I think he could mold the young players and could make a good evaluation of draft choices. Eight different coaches since 1995 should show you something. Why then do I stick around as a fan? Because once there was a Raiders team that believed a person could get a second chance when all others had given up on them, where players had character and a belief in a “Commitment to Excellence”. Believe in yourself, than your team could believe in themselves. Negative comments about a team can only lead to a loss of self esteem and disgruntled thoughts amongst the players. If a person is given the tools to succeed in their job, then the responsibility of their future is owned by that person not you. Tell your coaches and staff to settle their differences and get back to playing football as a team not as individuals. Next time I read how the Raiders fought, it shall be on the field not amongst themselves. I will leave you with these quotes from history:
The difficulty lies not so much in developing new ideas as in escaping from old ones.
    - John Maynard Keynes
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
    - Albert Einstein
    Sincerely
    Raider68 Forever

  179. Brien Says:

The reason why DeAngelo Hall sucks stalls me. Does he not understand the QB will hardly throw to Nnmadi’s side?

  180. EMRaider Says:

Kiffin quotes from the press conference…

I am not about to tell the owner how he should handle it. He has done many great things in this league. Its not my place to tell him how to do his job.

I haven’t talked to Al Davis since before the Denver game.
I am not quitting. Its not about money, I am not a quitter. I am not going to quit behind closed doors and not give the energy. We can turn things around
I am not sleeping not because of the status of my job, but because I am trying to turn this around.

No one is pleased with the out come. There are no moral victories.

The players who have been here a while are not used to being in these games with cross country trips against playoff teams.

I’d be shocked if any players or coaches weren’t sick over the game. If anybody slept well, they aren’t our type of guys.

This is foreign to me. This is not how I would want to manage the game, but this is how we have to with what we have. (when asked about his lack of influence in the defensive side of the ball)

Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News asked Kiffin if he felt isolated with the team handing out a negative story about Kiffin in the press room the previous week, with a Raider official shouting over him “That’s not true Kawakami!” During the question, Kawakami noted the lack of a Raider shield on Kiffin’s polo.

    Kiffin:
I don’t feel an isolation. This doesn’t help our team, as we’re not going to pull together like in that movie Major League. It doesn’t help.

  181. DoneDeal Says:

the NFL and goodell should save the raiders from the raiders.

  182. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

Yeah DeAngelo you did have a pick…its pretty cool when you actually play within 5 yards of your man.

DeAngelo, why do play so far off your man.. Aren’t you a cover corner

  183. Cole Ford Says:

Your right DoneDeal, if the government can bail out corporations, I think the NFL should be able to remove Al Davis for the benefit of the league. They forced Debartalo out. Why not Davis?

  184. LA Raiderfan Says:

I think Rob Ryan is 8 1/2 months pregnant.

  185. RedBird Raider Says:

The season is over if Al fires Kiff. I’m burning my season tickets….. Rob Ryan sucks…

  186. Jim Lofton Says:

Yo brien,..Im supporting kiffin dude,..sorry by bro…cant fire midflight.

  187. BART Bridge Brigade Says:

Pure comedy, apparently Kiffin compared the team to the movie Major League, where the players and coach rallied to a winning season, in spite of the owner, who did everything in her power to stop them. I don’t care what they say about him, you gotta like Kiffin’s disposition about this whole thing.

  188. 909raiderlifer Says:

    Jerry Mac…

    Where, is the bleeping transcript??

  189. Ghost to the post Says:

I’ve learned alot about life and about handling it with grace from kiffin. I’ts been quite a ride. Kiffin deserves a job. If he is fired it’s to cover the oners backside. He made to point the finger at someone through out this season to avoid death… he hates to loose. We all try to survive, right??

  190. Silver&Bleak Says:

If it’s true Al’s new inner circle on football decisions consists of Taylor and Herrera we’re in great shape. A pr guy and a car salesman…

  195. DeAngelo Hall Says:

I am just here to collect my check man. I need to buy my boy Vick some cigs while he is locked up, and maybe play a little. Don’t hate cause I made the fat cash and can sit on my azz and not play hard. This is me…Meangelo. I thought you knew.

I’ll try to play harder next week…huhhuhhuh

  196. HUGH MUNGUS R8RS FAN Says:

Via ProFootballTalk.com, NFL Network’s Adam Schefter is reporting Lane Kiffin is safe as the Raiders coach … for today.

“Kiffin will not be fired today. Schefter quotes a Raiders source saying, ‘There’s nothing happening today. It ain’t happening.’ But Schefter says the same source wouldn’t go so far as to say that Kiffin will be coaching the Raiders on Sunday.”

  197. DoneDeal Says:

godell needs to step in remove al davis from office. we go 7-9, maybe 8-8. without that we beat KC in oakland go 2-14, and pick crabtree qith the first pick in the draft.

  198. RaiderTay Says:

Even Hall’s INT was suspect. We need to lock up Nandi now. We paid the wrong CB.

  199. darkknight01 Says:

    Joe,

It is obvious the Old Stubborn Man Al has lost it….and he doesn’t KNOW what it takes to win in this day and age anymore. He wants to win but he doesn’t know HOW to anymore!

  200. Brien Says:

Jim you do what you gotta do. I know you are down for the Raiders……..but I’m mad at the whole organization period. This is absolutely ridiculous to lose. How can you just lose and lose and lose? 6 million ways to die and we chose them all. I’m just mystified on how the teams of this decade found new ways to blow games……..this shhhit is draining

  201. dick v Says:

kiffin is the future: embrace it nation. he isn’t going anywhere.

  202. Ghost to the post Says:

I gave davis props for keeping employed someone to tell him “no”. I will not be impressed if it was just to have a mid season fall guy… Can he afford another high draft pick??? there’s still a year of ‘cap’.

  203. Jim Lofton Says:

Koolaid Im hearing warren out for the year, torn peck.

  204. DoneDeal Says:

you would sleep soundly too if you got an 11 mill bonus but did not have to work for it. until he plays and steps up big walker aint S#!t in my book. I see why he was jettisioned from denver, marshalll is way better than him.

  205. RaiderTay Says:

Hall does seem complacent in his post-game interview. Dude should be punchin the freakin wall based on how he was getting lit up.

  206. Ghost to the post Says:

Also whoever is instigating the lack of conversation tween davis and Kiffin does not favor victory.

  207. RaiderTay Says:

    Hey “Raider Inside Source” guy,

Shut the Hell up already!!!!! You obviously dont know crap.

  208. Jim Lofton Says:

brien I keep trying to tell you,…hang in there,..hang tough,..these dare tough times,…things will get better dude,…sanm diego is goin down sunday…period,..and we will be there!!!

  209. DoneDeal Says:

we invent new ways to lose. give up 17 points in the fourth qtr how many teams did that on sunday?

  210. BART Bridge Brigade Says:

When asked if he would approach Al about the situation, Kiffin answers: “I am not about to tell the owner how he should handle it. He has done many great things in this league. Its not my place to tell him how to do his job.”

-Wow, how can you not appreciate the stones on this guy. He is just begging Al to fire him right now, he is baiting him in every way possible, telling Al “sh*t or get off the pot, old man.”

  211. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

I am going to ride DeAngelo Hall and Javon Walker’s lack of play. It is amazing how good Nnamdi Asomaugh really is. They dont throw to him and did you notice how the Bills moved Evans around the field.

Hey Rob Ryan…Its time to put the shutdown corner on the other team’s top receiver no matter where he is on the field.

Let DeAngelo cover the number 3 receiver in nickle coverage

  212. Ghost to the post Says:

The bills scored more in the fourth than the donks in any quarter…. food for thought… Who’s falt is that?????

  213. DeAngelo Hall Says:

    Tay,

I am pissed. Pissed that we covered the spread yesterday. I lost a lot of money man.

  214. Brien Says:

As much as I wanna yell at Kiffin for his immaturity, Ryan for his stupidity, and Al being who he is I BLAME THESE HEARTLESS PLAYERS. This team has some very nice talent but the people that stink are what’s killing us. There are a few guys in Oakland that belong in the CFL. Some guys should not be starting nor seeing the field and its obvious!!!

  215. Jim Lofton Says:

Tay if youre referring to me Im just going buy what i saw on the press conference today,..didnt you watch it?

  216. DoneDeal Says:

i disagree lets blame the real culprit lets blame the PREVENT.

  217. ChargersChoke Says:

After we choke the dolts Sunday all will be fine. Just wish that Al would take Ryan off of tenure!!!!!

  218. Brien Says:

Well they better win sunday or it will get very ugly at the Oakland Coliseum. You thought folks were pissed two weeks ago. you haven’t seen a dam nthing yet!

  219. Im in Poster Board Says:

    I’m Confused!

  220. Ghost to the post Says:

done deal, nice [perspective… Honestly…. to role over is not to be compensated… There are personel problems and they have to do with depth…. Where…Have I…Heard That……BEfore??????

  221. Raiderkoolaid Says:

I guess that means we better go get a DT off the scrap heap real quick. I doubt we could pull off a trade to get a decent one. We don’t have enough depth anywhere but RB and Fargas is hurt.

  222. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

Bright spot is Johnnie Lee Higgins…Man he is playing his a%% off right now. The return game has life and I actually get excited about our return game. He has made our special teams a weapon and he miles ahead of Carr.

Hey Lofton…you wanna be a head coach…teach Higgins the finer points of route running and catching. We need to get him on the field.

Too bad Walker can’ play…$11 million freekn dollars

  223. Jim Lofton Says:

youre right brien,..first of all i cant believe how horrible our receivers are,..curry is a bum,…walker is stealing money…sucks when our best receiver is a tight end.

  224. Brien Says:

Blame players that are in the actual game will you?

  225. Prevent Defense Says:

    Throw on me Baby!

  226. ShawnRaiders81 Says:

Yeah I take back what I said last blog, I watched Kiffin’s press confrence and he seemed like he wanted to be here.

Like I have said, I think the reason Al has not fired him is one of two thing.

    1) The media’s source is a joke. (very possible, in fact the media has been wrong twice in two weeks, how do we know what really is the truth.)

    2) The “investors” Al sold some of team to (some have said it is Troy Aikman.) have a say in operations. From Al past if I was going to have a share in the team, in my contract I would make sure legally i did.

  227. DoneDeal Says:

denver put up 31 points on sd in the first half.
contrell made adjustments and boom they score only once more.

buffalo scores zero in the first half rob ryan makes adjustments and boom he gives up 24 points in the second half 17 in the forth quarter alone.

its not ryans fault its the PREVENTS fault. So how about we fire the prevent defense.

  228. Prevent Defense Says:

I think I was hoping they would run with 30 seconds left.

  229. Brien Says:

Brien<——–always liked Higgins…….Kiff would rather give chances to trash like Curry, Walker and Lelie but have young guys on the bench who have more heart not play…….this is why he pisses me off

  230. Ghost to the post Says:

where’s hall’s talk???? Thrird best in the leage??? how about third best on your team…. Honestly.

  231. r8der4lyfe Says:

    FIRE ROB RYAN!!!
    LET MR CHANGE AD’S DEPENDS
TAKE THA TRAINING WHEELS OFF JRUSS
    FIRE ROB RYAN!!!

  232. Chargers Blog Says:

I dare you guys to come on tonight after the game when we go 0-3 and talk crap. I dare you!

  233. Raiderkoolaid Says:

    Didn’t N. O. just cut a DT?

  234. Jim Lofton Says:

that keep kiffin website was mentioned on dan patricks show today.

  235. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

We gave up 17 in the 4th QTR because the playcalling on defense changed. Ryan should realize that he should man up and have DeAngelo cover his man. Screw it if he gets burned once and a while.

We have to give DeAngelo a chance to make some plays. His interception occurred when he played up on his man.

Rob Ryan is a bad playcaller

  236. Brien Says:

    Lelie,curry anad Walker= ” I got my money”

  237. Twinkie defense Says:

ESPN needs to remember a very important thing about the Raiders:

    Those who know, don’t tell.

    Those who tell, don’t know.

  238. DoneDeal Says:

tis season is over lets talk about the draft

    maualuga, or crabtree.

  239. Brien Says:

Hall is looking like a mistake…………damn that one is on Al if it keeps on going. I guess we would have loved that 2nd round pick right now

  240. ChargersChoke Says:

This is a new era , the time of effective DBs shorter than 6′0 is over, all teams now go for tall WRs 6′2 or taller , signing Hall was a big mistake and you all know I told you so last spring! Hall should be assigned Chris CHambers Sunday and Nande hopefully can shut down Vincent Jackson, if Hall is covering Jackson Sunday then we lose, hopefully Ryan starts zone blitzing more. It’s a damn shame one of the most speediest LBs (Thomas Howard) in the league has only a couple sacks in 3 seasons and it’s Ryans fault because he’s too damn passive!

  241. Brien Says:

Ghost is right…….you would rather have Stanford Routt starting again

  242. Stanford Routt Says:

    I’ll Start!

  243. M Says:

You know, I have seen Robbo overmatched time and again the past five years but I did not see it yesterday. I know, all of the “Fire Ryan” people won’t agree, but I did not see the same ol’ bulls+-t yesterday. Yes, the game was lost in the end. And yes the defense was overcome in the 4th quarter, but what I saw was a defense that gave its all, became gassed, lost Gibril and Warren, and Robbo was trying to find a way for them still to succeed. The Buffys did not outscheme the DC yesterday, they simply overpowered them in the end. Yeah, I know, you can look at it any way you will, you can see the same old failures, but yesterday was a different type of failure.
Me, I still blame J Lee Higg for being a selfish a-hole and giving the Buffys that extra edge to fight on with whatever he said going down the field when the Buffys should have been completely crushed mentally by the excellent play.
The D was as good as can be, sorry Ryan haters, the D just got gassed.

  244. DoneDeal Says:

maualuga is better than laurenitis. we need a savages at MLB.

  245. Brien Says:

Chargerschoke I disagree…….Asante Samuel is not 6 feet and he is damn good

  246. Mike Taylor/John Herrera aka Davis minions Says:

    “That’s not true Kawakami!”

  247. DoneDeal Says:

crabtree would look nice n silver and black

  248. ShawnRaiders81 Says:

If you guys want to read some funny stuff about the press confrence today go to the pressdemocrat web page I guess a reporter and Jon Harerra almost got in a fight about the the rumor of a Raiders offical passing out that espn article critical of Kiffin.

  249. Brien Says:

DoneDeal- I hate USC guys but dammit Rey is one I’ll take in a heartbeat. He is just plain vicious if he teams up with Morrison and Howard outside of him

  250. Lane Kiffins' Contract Says:

    You can’t fire me byatch!

  251. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

Brien — Yes, for what we are paying Hall, Routt is bettter…Routt is a competent corner back. Hall on the other hand…For $70million, we are supposed to have two Nnamdi level corners.

The truth about D. Hall is that he isn’t a good man2man…he needs a safety over the top giving him support.

its clear….all that speed he has and he is worried about getting burned deep.

That’s two games of sub-par performance from Angelo Hall….the De if for defense and he don’t play it

  252. Maryland Raiderfan Says:

if warren is out for the year that sucks. He was playing very well with kelly. Our depth at d line will be exposed–again on our gm al davis. Schefter has not had anything to report on a firing so its safe for now. If it does go down and ryan or some retread takes over than all local folks should boycott games and not spend a dime on them. Then possibly the franchise could be vulnerable for a buyout to get his demented head out of here. Ryan’s crap schemes are responsible and he will survive another HC?? amazing!

  253. Brien Says:

If he is there then you know Al will not take a LB over a player like crabtree………not in a million years

  254. PhillyRaider Says:

You clowns saying he should of went for 2 are plane stupid. You kick the extra point and make it a TWO score game. Not go for it, MAYBE get it just incase they score a TD you go 3 and out and they kick a fg to win it all in 6 mins. If you didnt get it, all they needed was to get in the endzone in 6 mins.

Lane is a good coach , he cant open the O up because our WR are awful, we have suspect pass blocking, and raw young QB.

  255. Lane Kiffins' Contract Says:

    HEY LANE,

    NICE SIGNATURE!

  256. Jim Lofton Says:

all great ideas, draft choices, etc.,..however none of that will make a bit of difference until someone stays home and stays out of the way,..period.

  257. DoneDeal Says:

Brien, i notice you are a very astute person. probable well read and from a decent up bringing. rey would it nicely into our foray of LB’s. He is a monster, he is 51/50 on the field.

  258. Lane Kiffins' Contract Says:

Raiders: Liar Liar Pants on Fire
This is getting better all the time. Better in the sense of more ridiculous – but these are the Raiders and anything goes.

I’m saying there was almost a fistfight in the Raiders press room after Lane Kiffin’s Monday press conference, a fistfight between a Raiders official and a columnist (not me).

    Yee-haw!!

The tension had started a few minutes earlier during the Q&A with Kiffin. My friend Tim Kawakami from the San Jose Mercury asked Kiffin if he feels isolated on the Raiders. Kawakami mentioned an article he said the Raiders passed out to the media critical of Kiffin. From back in the room, Raiders official John Herrera – the one who allegedly passed out the article – interrupted the press conference. This act of interrupting was totally unheard of. Herrera yelled, “That’s not true. That’s not true, Kawakami.”

Kawakami ignored him and so did Kiffin, who seemed mildly amused, and the press conference proceeded in an awkward way. I mean, how could it be the same? It’s like you’re invited to dinner at your boss’s house and your boss has white carpets and you spill a glass of red wine on the carpet. The boss’s wife says “Don’t worry, it’ll clean up,” but you know the evening is ruined.

Well, the afternoon over here got ruined – or maybe it got better. You couldn’t make up this stuff, and in a weird way, it’s fascinating.

When the press conference ended, Herrera started shouting at Kawakami.

“You’re a liar,” Herrera shouted. “You built a whole column on a lie. So did Lowell Cohn.” (Hey, that hurts my feelings, John.)

Kawakami put his hand on Herrera’s arm in a peacekeeping soothing way and said, “Calm down.” Herrera violently shook it off. “Get your hand off me,” he shouted. “Get your (bleeping) hand off me.”

To which Kawakami replied, “Do you want to take a punch at me?”

    “Yeah, I’d love to.”

And then I heard Kawakami say, “I’d love to own part of this franchise,” meaning if a Raider official slugged him he could sue.

Hey, kids, they don’t teach you this stuff in Journalism 101. I may have missed the exact words in all the hub bub – things were kind of crazy – but I was very close.

Herrera continued to make his point. “Nothing was distributed in this room,” he shouted. “Nothing. Nothing.”

Herrera meant he didn’t actually make the critical Kiffin article available, although according to sources, he directly handed it to one beat writer. According to my sources he let other beat writers know the article existed. So, technically he didn’t hand it out, but he encouraged writers to know about it and read it.

The last thing I heard, Kawakami – bravely to my way of thinking — told Herrera, “You’re welcome to sue me.”

Another fun day at the Raiders. And get this, I went to see the coach get fired, but a fight broke out, instead. The Raiders always provide.

    – Lowell

  259. Brien Says:

Hall cannot keep having guys get receptions on him. It is unacceptable

  260. El Dirty Says:

Gerrard warren is out for the year?

  261. Jim Lofton Says:

ya shawn I heard that live, it was odd, some dude in the background screaming down a reporter, I think it was jerry getting yelled at.

  262. DoneDeal Says:

brien i hapen to agree with your post,
al will take the rb from georgia knowshon moreno, or he
would draft another punter, who know he likes speed he may draft usane bolt the track star first.

  263. Wishbone Says:

Once again this proves without a doubt that Al Davis only cares about winning just not winning football games. AL is gonna put the screws to Kiffin until he either quits, hangs himself or mentally loses it. Things would be better if Al would just fire him so the players can focus on playing and not wonder who is the head coach. Al won’t pay off Kiffin at 3 mil yet pays ridiculous amounts to Javon Walker and DeAngelo Hall. Al please do us all a favor and have a massive stroke or heart attack. Anything MF, but just DIE!!

  264. Brien Says:

    Phuck Kawakami and Kohn

  265. Ghost to the post Says:

Hall can not cover with no pressure,. He needs the blitz or help with his man or he will be victimized the other thirteen games too.

  266. Raiderkoolaid Says:

I was wondering if it was Hall’s decision to play soft late in the game or if that was Ryan’s call. He did a decent job covering when he did play tight. He needs to keep that up and if he gets burned then he needs to have a short memory.

  267. Robert Says:

  268. Cole Ford Says:

I just went on deathclock.com to see when Davis is going to dye. Bad news, he is going to live until 2018.

  269. Ron Says:

What a flying circus! This is the only NFL team Andrew Walter has ever known. He may die of old age at 26.

  270. dick v Says:

we may not get Rey malaluagaagaga… he will be a top five player: Detroit, KC, Cincy, Clelvland, and the Rams are guarding those positions pretty tightly.

  272. Brien Says:

Al will never die……….just get over it people. Al is in for the looooooooooooong haul

  273. Ghost to the post Says:

Wishbone, nice perspective…. death threats/?/? humm.

  274. DoneDeal Says:

is al davis really pulling the strings or does someone have there hand up his back. funny sh!t folks we as fans need to grow up.

  275. NATION Collective-408RAIDER Says:

Dirty WTF where did you hear that about warren?

  276. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

Losing Warren hurts badly. WHat happened to him to get hurt. Better bring back Joseph.

Angie Hall is really letting down this team. and where the hell is Walker….

Johnie Lee is one of our top 5 players right now and thats good. It seems Johnnie Lee responds well to coaching too. He also was smart on selecting which kicks/punts to return.

Hey Lane, play the kids and put Javon “Lights On” Walker on ice. curry is too slow to help us anymore.

Go with Lelie, Higgins, Schillens and Watkins…in that order

  277. Brien Says:

Only a guy with thick skin can be head coach with Al there…….Kiffin needs to be smarter with this than he has been

  278. willie Says:

Brien, the raiders will win this week, see what happens during the bye,who has a clue?

  279. Jim Lofton Says:

    later brien,…hang tough bro.

  280. DoneDeal Says:

this circus goes on. every media outlet luaghs at the raiders. no one takes us serious. we are not an nfl franchise. we are like a group of guys playing pickup.

  281. Nnamdi21 Says:

    Awesome “After Action Report”

Great break down of exactly what players were doing on crucial plays.

Part one covers end of the 3rd quarter.

    Can’t wait for more!!!

  282. Brien Says:

Schilens,Higgins, Watkins and Lelie in that order

  283. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

I mean DeAngelo is so bad that teams just throw at him almost exclusively.

The only time they don’t throw to him is whem the Raiders play a “Soft to the Touch” zone…then they pick on our linebackers

  284. Johnny Lee Higgins Says:

Yeah, you are right “M”, it is my fault that I burned their azzes for a 86 yrd bomb and scored a TD…I just should have dropped the pass like any other Raider receiver and not even tried to put my team in a position to win..It is not Rob Ryan’s fault that out D cant hold a lead, it is my fault for doing my job and putting 6 on the board for us….

  285. Brien Says:

Too tough to win this week. How are we gonna pressure Rivers?

  286. Crimedog Says:

Everyone stop worrying about Lane and Al and all this bullsheet. All that matters is the future. One thing that is clear is that the Raiders are still at least 2 years away from being a serious contender and that the pieces are in place for this to be possible. The thing that everyone seems to be worried about is all the money that was doled out to players who are obviously not worth what they are being paid…Javon Walker and DeAngelo Hall being the poster boys…I think Tommy Kelly could actually be worth it and Gibril is not making some ridiculous amount so he is worth it as well. Who cares about this money?? All it is is signing bonues and escalators. If you don’t like AL Davis then you shouldn’t care that he wasted his money on these signings. Javon can be cut after the year at a loss of about 12 million (5 million of that 16 guaranteed is a roster bonus for next year) and DeAngelo can be cut or traded down the line if he doesn’t start performing. At a salary cap that is continually rising, including an uncapped year in 2010, we do not have to worry about staying under the cap or having enough money to go around to key players such as Nnamdi, Kirk, Thomas, etc. Do you think Al cares about the money?? He knows his days are numbered so he’s gonna spend it.

We only need a few pieces. Stud left tackle (Andre Smith from Alabama should be our target) and move Henderson to right tackle( he actually looks pretty good). A #1 receiver. And another solid d-lineman for the rotation.

  287. Nnamdi21 Says:

All we need is to start winning.

And yeah, some receivers who can catch and create seperation.

  288. DoneDeal Says:

how will the raiders win sunday?

  289. John Herrera Says:

Yeah cant we all just get along?

  290. darkknight01 Says:

    Herrera,

I’ll be glad to call you don’t worry!

Too many guys over in thAT building of yours…have your own freakin AGENDA!

Don’t be an Al Davis lap dog!

  291. Charles Oakey Says:

I hope we keep Coach Kiffin. I do see progress being made with Kiffin as coach.

As I’ve often said I’ve been a fan since the inaugural season of 1960. But I’ve lived in San Diego since 1968. The football scene is messed up here as well. A phonier group of fans you’ll never see, all parading around in brand new powder blue shirts jumping on the bandwagon.

A historical note for Mr. Charged Up and anyone else who thinks the fans here are so great. During the 1960’s San Diego FAILED to sellout the three American Football League Championship Games that were played in Balboa Stadium (capacity 34,000).

  292. DoneDeal Says:

his the scenario to the circus guys, te raiders will be winning on sunday but ryan installs the prevent defense and sd comes back to blow out the hapless raiders. sound familiar

  293. willie Says:

BRIEN,they WILL find a way to get SD Shi-heads on that ass,RAIDERS

  294. darkknight01 Says:

Raiders need to draft Mauluaga or Crabtree next year!

  295. John Herrera Says:

    Yeah! We will see Darkknight01.

I will believe it when I see you, you bunch of stoners!

  296. DoneDeal Says:

willie you are right, they will find another way to lose.

  297. Raiderkoolaid Says:

If we are ahead in the fourth quarter the offense needs to keep playing with the desperation like we are tied or one score behind.

  298. DoneDeal Says:

davis will draft the best punter next year

  299. RaiderMight Says:

If true, it’s funny how much the Rat hates Al. lol

    —————
“Al Davis Target of QB Throw?”
Shanahan jokes off report of ‘94 sideline incident

For the latest illustration of the enmity between Denver head coach Mike Shanahan and Raiders owner Al Davis, retreat to Monday night, Sept. 5, 1994.

The 49ers and Raiders met in the season opener at Candlestick Park. Shanahan was offensive coordinator for the 49ers, nearly five years removed from his messy firing as head coach of the Raiders.

Elvis Grbac was San Francisco’s backup quarterback. Grbac recently told the New York Times about an incident during pregame warm-ups, a story confirmed by a former Raiders coach.

Shanahan spotted Davis roaming the sideline, as he always does before games. “See Al Davis over there?” Shanahan said to Grbac. “I want you to throw the ball right at him.”

“I can’t do that,” Grbac replied. “If I hit him, you know what he could do to me?”

Shanahan glared at Grbac and said, “Throw the ball.”

Grbac threw the ball. Davis, standing about 30 yards away, ducked at the last moment, as the spiral sailed toward him.

Asked about this during a conference call yesterday, Shanahan chuckled and said sarcastically, “I’m sure Elvis must have gotten me confused with another person. You guys know me too well — I wouldn’t do anything like that.”

My boss told me to tell you guys that we are going to fire the lame coach tomorrow. I hope he sleeps well.

  305. RaiderMight Says:

LT wont do anything. Now Sproles is a different story. LT will play less snaps than Sproles tonight because of his toe.

I doubt he will be ready to go in time for us. It’s nice that they get a short weekend too. At this time i don’t have any hope for a win, but it will not be LT beating us. Rivers and Sproles will do it instead.

  306. Cole Ford Says:

Does anyone have Al Davis’ phone number?

  307. M Says:

    dakota,

the LaDainian ain’t what it used to be. A Sproles can’t do 30 carries either. Marshawn is a beast, Tomlinson and Darren are tadpoles. Don’t worry.

  308. DoneDeal Says:

    so JLH was on defense?????

  309. S&B - Nation Collective Says:

Nnamdi21 — That was the sequence of plays that had me cussing up and downt the bar. They let Lynch get away with a key gain on 3rd down. If they had stopped that one, the game is over RIGHT THERE.

Bills punt Raiders get excellent field position and that’s all.

Another telling point was when Kelly and Warren sat out the first down. It was because Kelly can’t go 4 QTRs. Why isn’t Kelly in on every down in a critical situation like that moment.

B.S and that’s why the Raiders lost the game. Right there.

  310. John Herrera Says:

    I do Cole. Why?

  311. darkknight01 Says:

  324. John Herrera Says:

    OOPS. Did I say that?

  325. dick v Says:

whatever else happens, I know that John Herrera and Mike Taylor will be gone when its all said and done. If Lane sticks and turn things around, Al will fire Herrera and Taylor and make them scape goats for this foolery. Even Lane gets fired, Taylor and Herrera will bget the axe so Al gives the apperance that he is changing more than coaches and adressing all organizational issues: even himself. I have seen too many variations of Al wins. Al is teflon when it comes to these things because he never speaks to the press and can rewrite history any way he wants.

  326. Inside Source Says:

Here is what’s going to go down. Kiffin is going to show up for practice tomorrow and be met by security guards who escort him back to the parking lot. John Herrera will come out and inform Kiffin that his services are no longer required by Mr. Davis and asking him to hand over his playbook.

  327. Raiderkoolaid Says:

Kelly is still working himself into shape, but it is not because of laziness. He spent the off season rehabbing his knee and wasn’t able to get in the work he needed to get into shape. Hopefully and the weeks go by he will get more indurance.

In case you missed it earlier…Herrera got his azz kicked before, lol:

    Mike Ornstein:

During a recent interview, Ornstein retraced his path from toilet scrubber to powerful sports marketing representative. It started in 1975 when, fresh out of Indiana State University, he took a job as an unpaid administrative assistant with John Madden, then the head coach of the Raiders. Without his own car, Ornstein borrowed a beat-up truck known as the “Raider Mobile” and reported for work at 5 a.m.

Then he pulled out the cleaning supplies.

He said he handled janitorial duties before working with Madden from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Then it was off to the scouting department where he would help break down film and file reports. His workday typically included stops in the equipment room and he rarely left the complex for dinnertime.

Working unpaid for the first 18 months in Oakland, Ornstein said he headed to the Hilton on Monday and to the Hyatt on Tuesday and Thursday to eat the free hors d’oeuvres.

“I can’t even look at a little meatball or a little hot dog anymore,” Ornstein said. “Still to this day I gag when I see those things.”

He became a fixture not only at the hotels’ free buffet lines but also at the Raiders’ complex, where his climb up the ranks was successful but stormy. He moved on to the media relations department, then into the marketing department and, at times, he proved as tough and unpredictable as those old renegade Raiders and team owner Al Davis.

According to a Los Angeles Times article, Ornstein “won undying fame before the 1984 Super Bowl victory in Tampa by ordering Irv Cross of CBS off the sideline – while Cross was on the air.”

In 1986, Ornstein punched his fellow senior administrator, John Herrera, during an argument over who had used a movie projector last. Herrera pressed charges, and Ornstein pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery.

“When you work for Al (Davis), you kind of think you can do whatever you want,” Ornstein said. “As a young guy, I was a feisty guy. … I did a lot of stupid things. I try not to do too many stupid things anymore.

“I haven’t punched anybody out in 25 years.”

But when he was with the Raiders, his fellow senior administrator wasn’t the only one with whom Ornstein butted heads. He recalled a rocky relationship with Davis, adding that the owner fired him “three or four times.” His association with the team ended in 1989, when Davis learned Ornstein had interviewed for a job with the Rams, then based in Los Angeles.

Attempts to reach the Raiders for comment were unsuccessful.

  341. Ottocrat Says:

All this crap about Herrera yelling at Tim Kawakami during the press conference just shows you how low the Raiders have gone. These people are supposed to be professionals. If Al and his crew of sycophants ran any other company the way they run the Raiders, it would’ve been bailed out by the fed just like all of these other bankrupt jokes that we’re picking up the bill for. This is sickening. The rest of the sports world is laughing at this mess of an organization right now.

  342. dick v Says:

All things must come to an end. Herrera has made a spectacle of himself and now he has tried to fight Tim Kwamaki. Kwamaki is going to continue to roast him in the paper and on his guest spots on knbr. Herrera is the fall guy, and Taylor to. with al you know there will be blood.

  343. La Milicia Negra Says:

  346. dick v Says:

once Pft gets a hold of this the story will go nation wide. John Herrera is the next contestant on Al’s chopping block. Herrera might have just saved Lane’s job. PFT has been saying that Herrera and Taylor are the only two people Al talks to effectively shutting out any nay sayers. Herrera is gone. Taylor is next.
Lane is here for the rest of the year and counting in my opion on the perfromance of the Raiders and a minimum of 8-8 record.

Lane is learning very fast and is even more mindful of his thoughts and sharp tongue. Lane will not be ‘ insubordinate’ anymore, and the farther he gets from that monday night debacle, the more pressure he puts on Al to keep him.

  347. texguy Says:

Lane is the man in Oaland. I think I like him because he does not waver in his philosphies. He has the same beleifs he had when Al hired him. He answered his critics and defended his play calling in the game vs the bills. The timeout/ clock management thing is something he needs to learn still, but other than that i like his approach to running this team.

He is teaching Jamarcus to be a qb in this league the right way.

I heard Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwin today talking about Big Ben and the steelers today. They said Ben needs to get the ball out and quit trying to make so many plays: taking hits, and sacks. They said Ben is so big he thinks he can do it all, andnow he is getting beat down. Pittsburg is on pace to give up 74 sacks this season, and Ben is already beaten up.

Does that sound familliar to what Lane is teaching Jamarcus right now. Jamarcus is learning the right way, and he will eventually become a franchise qb thanks to Lane’s teaching.

The future is bright nation thanks to Lane and Jamarcus.

  356. FIRE KIFFIN Says:

    You guys are in denial.

Kiffin is gone at the bye.

  357. Big AL's GOON Says:

By some of the comments here about kiffin you would think we had this great offense, but we don’t. We have the worst passing game in the NFL. All we can do is run the ball. We converted only 2 out of 12 third downs and this is something to get excited about? Sure Rob Ryan needs to go. We need a change on defense, now. But the offense is just a repeat from last year. All run with no passing game. We will not be successful with Kiffin’s current offense. Ryan and Kiffin can both get lost and never return.

  358. darkknight01 Says:

KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT LANE against the tyranny of Al Davis!

  359. FFSniper Says:

Maybe Al is just doing this, not just to teach Kiffin to keep his mouth shut, but to make him more focused. If Kiffin gets sick of the same questions each week then he won’t comment and will just focus on getting the team ready for our opponents each week. It is probably nice of me to think that old senile Davis would be in such a mindset.

  360. texguy Says:

    Keep Kiffin!
    Fire Rob Ryan instead!!!

  361. Memo Says:

I would be laughing my ass of if this were another team; but the fact that the Raiders front office is falling apart is most likely going to affect the way the team plays. I just want to see wins goddamn it! I’m still pissed after yesterday’s game. Kiffin needs to be able to hold personnel accountable; (himself included) but he can’t if he is just as dispensable as the TE coach. No one can take him seriously if management is passing around articles calling Kiffin an a-hole.

Just for the sake of the team, why don’t they just let Kiffin do his job & take care of the issue like, I don’t know – in the off season? This bull – $hit never stops with this team….

  362. Maryland Raiderfan Says:

If you were to write this s**t as fiction, no one would find it plausible….

  377. Fredrick king Says:

This is becoming a sorry case.Let this young coach, who took over a team that has been losing, and who has stood up and spoke out about things in the Raider organization, and someone in charge does not like it…Coach and continue to give him the tools that will help us win again.
I have followed the Raiders since 1964 and this hurts to see what has happened the last 6 years. I love Al Davis…but unless you are God…There comes a time you must change the guard and let another that you have groomed…bring the fire and Dedication that he has shown over many years.
The reports about the firing..the plane ride and no conversation with the coach…Stop this and give the fans what they need…a winner.
Mr.Davis…it is never to late to learn about life…even at your age. You have fired 2 Super Bowl coaches..that once was in our organization…this young man Kiffin…has a future and he stands up and speaks out…Like a young man that was an assistant under Sid Gillman who took over as coach for the Raiders and in 1964 turned them into a winner.
Then became the AFL Commisioner and was responsible for the AFL NFL Merger.
That young man did things that many did not like.. Is name is Al Davis.
Many may feel that I am out of line for writing this…but I know the Raider way…and when you cross Mr. Davis…this is what happens..the rumors or the silence and then you are out.
    Enough…The court fights..the move to LA..THE Losing…Enough.
The once proud Raiders are looking like lost people…Pride and poise…what happened to that.
We have a young team…let them stick together and let coach make the moves that a head coach needs to make…and let him be in control over the staff that is on the field..both sides of the ball.
There was a time…when you played the Raiders…you knew you were going to be on the losing side.
I am a Raider..but also honest..you can’t own and coach at the same time…that is why you hire a person to Coach.
Also all the rumors can be put to rest…Mr. Davis put this stuff to the side and reclaim the Top of the Football world as Champions…That is what is important.

Davis is senile. If he fires Kiffin another season is wasted. Kiffin will be replaced by the standard Al Davis bobblehead doll. It remains to be seen which yes man will take over. The Raiders should have their own reality show. All this form the “genius” Al Davis. He can’t blame Kiffin for spending millions on turds. Next season he can keep his f’n tickets I’m done.

  379. Sharpe Says:

He’s waiting for the bye week to fire Kiffin…gives the interum coach enough time to establish himself and a game plan for game #5, week #6.

  380. Sharpe Says:

Keep in mind that this is Russell’s 4th start in the NFL. I think that he has looked progressively better. Drops & play calling hasn’t helpped awhole lot. The season is still young. Ryan went from a totally vanilla week #1, to an agressive week #2 (albeit against 3 pitiful QBs), to a great 1st three quarters in week #3. His mistake was letting up, taking off the heat, playing that soft BS prevent crap. Thing is, he learned from week 1 to 2, and from week 2 to 3. Hopefully the mistatke of week 3’s 4th quaarter will not resurface. I gotta tell ya though, he may have been trying to protect D. Hall cause he was being victimized by edwards in the 4th, play after play. It was soon after Hall got beat about 5 times that he put the LBs in coverage and stopped sending the safties.

    Anyway, hopefully, lesson learned.

The Kiffin thing is troublesome. I hope that Cable, Knapp, & Ryan stay if only for continuity in the new staff. Gotta keep the play book. God forbid, Kiffen be hired as an assistant Shanahan, Norv, or Herm.

Gotta take the training wheels off of Russell, this week even. Remember Payton was 3-13 his rookie year.

Anyway, I’d never trade my tickets! Regardless, I #ucking bleed Silver & Black. Nothing will change that. Maybe the end of time.

    Anyway, Go Raiders!

After watching tape of the game, The Raiders defense pitched a SHUTOUT FOR 50+ MINUTES OF A SIXTY MINUTE GAME. A FUKKING SHUTOUT! The only points the Bills scored was the direct result of a Jamarcus Russell fumble where the Bills took over on the Raider 20 yard line and scored six.

Every single person who posted on this site, saying Ryan and the Defense cost this game, is an undeniable absolute Fukking Moron. What the fukk do you expect???? A defense to go out there and pitch a shut out every game???? UNBELIEVEABLE!! I love that. Posters come in here and say, well the 2001 Ravens and the 1985 Bears uh ya know……you have GOT to be kidding me.

Watching this game live I thought that was one of the most dominant defensive performances I had EVER seen. And I will bet my life savings I’ve seen more NFL games IN ANY CAPACITY than 99% of the people posting on this site. Once Warren went out early in the fourth, and you put a back up tight end in his place, Wakefield, AT THAT EXACT MOMENT, it was up to Kiffin and the offense to win the game.

There is 9 minutes to go in the game. I will be right back.

  384. toneeg Says:

Drive for show and putt for dough. Fifty minutes is great but they have to play an entire game. Up by 9 with the Bills deep in their own territory with less than 7 minutes remaining. A good defense does not lose a game in that situation. The defense lost the game pure and simple. You’re delusional if yo think otherwise. The td toss to Higgins should have iced the game.

That’s BS first play of that drive to the last and the rest of the game no heat at all! Also if he wanted to throw D Hall a life line play cover 2 on that side and send the LBS! Ryan gets scared and blows it over and over he is a gas can of a releiver in the the 4th quarter!

    Anyway, hopefully, lesson learned.

The Kiffin thing is troublesome. I hope that Cable, Knapp, & Ryan stay if only for continuity in the new staff.

Knapp and Cable are gone at year end if Kiffin is Fired!

Gotta keep the play book. God forbid, Kiffen be hired as an assistant Shanahan, Norv, or Herm.

That would be Shannarat 2 the sequal!

Gotta take the training wheels off of Russell, this week even. Remember Payton was 3-13 his rookie year.

Well that is if we can protect him!

Anyway, I’d never trade my tickets! Regardless, I #ucking bleed Silver & Black. Nothing will change that. Maybe the end of time.

I respect that I won’t either but if Kiffin get’s fired Al needs to wheel his rusty old walker down and coach this team himself!

    Anyway, Go Raiders!

    Haters, suck it!

    Go Raiders beat the Bolts!

Another thing that is bothering me is the defensive game plan. Ist game vs.Denver…we had no clue and they had us off balance. Next game vs.Kanas city very aggressive and still almost let them back in the game…a game and a team that has not won in 11 or 12 games.
The Bills game was ours…you must be aggressive. They were getting strong play up front and was dominating the game..until the 4th.Prevent defense prevents you from winning. Look at the Eagles vs The Steelers…Pressure over and over.
You made that young QB for the Bills look like he was Unitas…If we played the way we had played earlier…we win.
Kiffin can’t go and talk to Ryan and ask…”What the hell is going on”…This has to stop.
We have found ways to lose and yes Kiffin is 5 and 14…but remember what he picked up when he joined the team.
Now you have 3 great young backs…Russell must be allowed to be a QB…That means throw the ball to the wide outs and bring back the Tight end to this offense.
The great Raider teams always had great tight ends..Billy Cannon,Chester,Casper,Christansen…were has that arsenal gone.
The offensive line is opening holes and that is great….but until Russell is passing the ball more they can’t develop a feel for where he is in the pocket.
The team must get back to being consistent in winning games and what ever is going on in this Organization need to change and that is real.
One of the Executives for the Raiders in the face of the media and angry…if it happened years ago…you the fan never knew it…he telling him to get his F…… hands off me…Professional…Pride and Poise… Does it still live in the Organization.
They may read this and feel I am wrong…Look at our record since the Super Bowl loss…The 2 Coaches we fired that won Super Bowls…the Great players who came here and it almost ended there playing days…This was the place everybody wanted to come…This was the place that turned losers into winners. Plunket played for the Patriots when he came in the league.then was considered washed up with the Niners…Then he came to Oakland and was given the chance to play for them when Dan Pastorini was hurt vs. the Redskins…The rest is History and 2 Super bowls later he is a future Hall of famer.

There are many more that when they put on that uniform there life changed. I want to see that again and you may also feel that I am rooting for Kiffen…The truth is I feel If you give a man a job…let him do it.

I am a Raider that has had enough of losing…the law suits, the moving, the rumors the firing and some hiring of coaches. I Remember seeing Art Shell as a kid…I still feel he is the Greatest Tackle to play…you could not beat him…but he was not head coach material…Management yes…not head coach.
I always felt he wanted Art because he was a yes man..no disrespect to Mr.Davis or Art Shell…but this is how I feel.He hired him twice…other great coaches would not come to Oakland under Mr.Davis…He wants to own and Control….Let a man do his job.
Gruden….Remember him…young, work around the clock..aggressive…the team was winning.
I am tired of coaches taking all the blame…If you give a Captain a Ship..make sure it has no holes in it…so he won’t sink.

This is all over Al’s fing ego not the performance of the coach!
    EGO!
F his ego I don’t want to flush the season away!
    We are still in it!
But he probably will make a change at the buy and we play the heart of the weekest part of our schedule!

  396. S&BinDC Says:

For everyone calling for Kiffin’s head because his offense is “conservative”:

Are we on the same planet? Watching the same games? What offensive “weapons” does Kiff have, exactly? Whom can he UNLEASH on the offense?

Let’s see: Two rookie backs, a mostly-rookie QB. Useless road apples at wideout like Walker. An offensive line anchored by the functionally-retarded likes of Gallery and Henderson.

    Summary? Total crap offense.

The defense, however? Nnamdi on one side, DeAngelo on another, a solid backing corps in the middle, safety help with Wilson, a Pro Bowl-caliber end in Burgess, etc.

The fact that Kiff manages to score at all, to say nothing of scoring enough to actually LEAD the game in Buffalo is, frankly, AMAZING.

Meanwhile, Rob Ryan with all his “influence” and “the players love him” and his “defensive weapons” manages, TIME AND AGAIN, to bag the game.

Give Kiffin a chance with an offense something better than Contra Costa High. But, for the love of God, send Ryan packing.

He should not still be there. When you go up 22-14 in half-way through the 4th quarter, you go for a 2-point conversion. 23 gets you nothing more than 22 if you fail.

    /still bitter

8 points is only a one score lead (TD + 2pt conv.)

    9 points is a 2 score lead….infinitely better position.

  400. darkknight01 Says:

Ryan going vanilla and soft toward the end was the COWARD way of calling a defensive game and surely cost us the game.

Defenses are supposed to win games and championships….anybody in here really think Ryan was going to lead the defense for one last stop? I knew it was over as soon as we punted.

  401. darkknight01 Says:

Ryan has been here FIVE YEARS and what has he shown us??

  402. Charles Oakey Says:

Thank you Mr Fredrick King for your message (#390).

  403. mike Says:

I hope Al Davis will come to his senses and fire Rob Ryan. He has been the problem the last five years. It’s the defenses job to keep a team from scoring not Lane Kiffin’s. obviously Al doesn’t care about this team anymore or he would have fired Ryan after last year. So once again we the Raider nation will be ashamed to be fans this weekend against another AFC west team, when the Chargers come in our house and spank us cuz of are defense or lack of. So please Al Davis sell the team already cuz the game has past you by.

  404. mike Says:

AL DAVIS YOU SUCK!!!!!!! CHANGING COACHES EVERY YEAR WON’T SOLVE ANYTHING REMEMBER GRUDEN OR HOW ABOUT MIKE S. IN DENVER? DON’T YOU GET IT IT’S YOU WHO IS OUR WORST ENEMY,NOT THE REFS,PLAYERS,STAFF,OR ANYONE ELSE WHO YOUR PARANOID OLD ASS MIGHT THINK. JUST FACE IT IT’S NOT 1970 ANYMORE AND WE DONT OWN THE AFC WEST ANYMORE!!!!!!

  405. The Kid 007 Says:

Die Hard RAIDER fan am I. 37 years to be exact but WHO’S counting.. Los Angeles Raider 6 year season ticket holder at the L.A. Colliseum.
“AL DAVIS” you are a “MAVERICK” in this great sport of “FOOTBALL”. I have followed and admired your “SPUNK” and “PASSION” for this TEAM from Brooklyn to L.A. and now Charleston, S.C.
However, the “OLD WAY’S are killing us and this great beloved franchise of our’s. It’s time to pass the rein’s to a passionate intelligent G.M. Who will embrace the “HEAD COACH” and his philosophie’s on Offense and Defense. Allowing him the latitude to HIRE and FIRE his coaches ( 3 Quarters of great defense to let up in the 4th – RYAN ) and of course input on player selections. Then admire it from the owner’s Box in Style. Your legacy isn’t written yet sir.. PLEASE!! WAKE THE HELL UP AL!

  406. Joe McClure Says:

Once the most brillant man on football has turned into
a senile old foggy. He did not speak to Chucky for two years before getting rid of him. Now six years of missery. How much longer can we remain loyal?

We have a lot of young players plus a young coach. But the players cannot give all in this termoil. If San Diego beats us, gane over.

  407. Football Fan Forever Says:

Al Davis, for a long time now, has been his own worst enemy! Al is the only person to blame for this mess. He’s changed players, coaches, cities and evrything thing else except himself. Time for this out-of-touch owner to move on! He’s a detriment to the team, the city and the NFL. Now he is just a crazy old loser and is dragging the franchise down with him.
