Holland promoted; Gandy waived

Wide receiver Jonathan Holland was signed off the practice squad Thursday and will be active for the game, which could mean Ashley Lelie, who missed practice Tuesday and Wednesday because of headaches, may not be available.
To make room, guard Dylan Gandy, signed Nov. 26, was waived.
Wide receiver Ronald Curry (ankle) and Chaz Schilens (ankle, Achillies’ tendonitis) have also been less than 100 percent of late.

Lane Kiffin screwed up so bad, he has no idea! The Raiders are slated to be a Super Bowl team next year. Raiders.com and Greg Poppa say so. Lane Kiffin won’t be a part of it.

I was at the KC game last week and the way those offense lineman were playing was disgusting, we have a great roster and we need to do some serious cleanning up of the locker room before we can think superbowl. We need to convince one of the top free agent wr’s to come here and Jamarcus something to throw to. Todd Watkins looked good for the one play he was in..wassup with using that guy more? Also get rid of that stupid wildpony,cat thing..it never works!!

Kiffin was only here for a season and 4 games, however, and we were obviously playing more disciplined football under him. He really wasn’t given a chance. I’m a Raider fan till I die and I love Al, but Kiffin wasn’t given a chance. And the more I think about it, I agree. We would be 6-6 right now if Kiffin were here. It’s hard to say it, because I love Al Davis. Love him. Like MR loves men. But I have to admit Kiffin would have us at 6-6 right now.

Ex—I agree completely. Unless Al wakes up and realizes what a mess he has created the Raiders will continue on down the same path. Hiring Harbaugh I think could have been a step in the right direction. With him staying at Stanford I don’t know any fairly young guy with NFL experience who would take the job. Cable can’t be brought back and Fassel would just another retred yes man. The Raiders are so far away from being a playoff team it isn’t even funny. I would put them on par with the KC Royals, LA Clippers and Atlanta Thrashers.

Considering the Chargers play the Raiders today and the Falcons play the Saints this weekend, who would you guys start in a fantasy league?
Philip Rivers or Matt Ryan? Our only positive right now is our pass D. I am thinking I should start Matt, just incase.

I think Fassel would be the perfect coach for this team.
The Raiders’ success over the next few years rides on the development of JaMarcus. Fassel is second to none at developing QBs. Plus he’s a good overall offensive coach and — out of offense, defense & special teams — that’s the one facet holding the Raiders back right now.
One thing I do like about this team much more than in recent years is that, aside from the Atlanta game, guys really haven’t quit.
Remember Randy Moss? Remember LaMont Jordan? Guys just aren’t blatantly dogging it and caving in when they get punched in the mouth anymore.
It’s nice that guys like Fargas, Howard, Nnamdi, Morrison, Warren and others are now driving the culture of the team instead of quitters like Moss.
We need better coaching, better WRs and a better O-Line. And most importantly, we need JaMarcus to develop into a very good QB.
Otherwise the supporting talent and character of this team are still strong.
JaMarcus catching on could turn this team from bust to boom. The QB position can probably account for about a 14-21 point swing per game, IMO. Picking up 1st downs, turning FGs into TDs, hitting the open deep pass instead of missing it — all that stuff swings a game one way or another. Look at the Cowboys with and without Romo. With him they dominate. Without him they get their doors blown off by St. Louis. Enough said.
