How many Coaches have the Steelers had in the last 20 yrs?

it’s amazing to me that the very same people who justified keeping that ignorant little bitcsh kiffie after last year’s debacle (in the name of continuity) are the same ones shouting from their rooftops that all is lost…

Cable is far far far better than kiffie…

hell, the fact that he is an adult makes it a 300% improvement…

look for the Raiders to rally around this guy and play some football…

look for an emphasis on the O and D lines…

look for some wins, and a team we can be proud of…

oh, and those of you who are still whimpering for kiffie… just follow his progress at Tennessee…

in a year you will be thanking Al for getting rid of him when he did…

  • M

Me, I would take Nnamdi for another year. Trading away your best player is not useful. Don’t really care if the Raiders get good draft picks for him via trade. 50% of all draftees are nadas no matter who signs them. All world or run of the mill. No brainer to me. Plus, one never knows what another year will bring.

  • Dakota

Well it has been fun today! Just remember, when we are 6-10 next season and most of you are calling for Cable’s head on a platter, don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Get ready for more bad Raider football. All of these hires are putrid. Al has fuked things up so much that we now have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find anyone that wants to work here.

And some of you are actually applauding him for it!

    lmfao

    I Dress In Black,

    Thank-you, coincidence?

  • jraider

Hey JMac. Any word on the D coordinator?

  • R.A.W.

Sup guys, long time no see

Considering that Davis hired Paul hackett and is probably gonna hire tollner, both QB guru’s, it’s obvious that he is trying to save jamarcus from being a bust. Also I’m guessing he’s gonna draft an OT an a WR in the first two rounds of the draft.

Johnnie Lee Higgins 22 catches 366 yards 4 TDs
Chaz Schilens 15 catches 226 yards 2 TDs

Good try pea brain. You’ve defended MY team against the people of Philadelphia but the 6 time SB champions live in Pittsburg. Not Philly lame brain!

The offense was completely different later in the year when Harris was finally removed.

And when Kiffin’s lame offense was canned.

    No I said PA tickturd.

    Prescient Pete,

post 153 should be obvious to anyone who took the time to stop whining.

    KoolKell,

Cowher took 15 years to win a Super Bowl. Willing to wait that long?

Duh! Puke face. That’s why we need to pick Beanie Wells RB THE Ohio State University. To bolster our running game and get away from our weak passing game. It’s not rocket science you ungrateful little punk!

ya, but thats cuz we were wasting our time with walker/lelie/curry most of the year.

    Man up boys,
The decision has been made, now support your team. I’ve not heard this much whinning, well ever. If you like the Raiders root for them, if you dont like it, find another team.
    Bunch a babies.

  • edward teach

Well, I for one hope Crabtree is available at #7. I kinda doubt it, but it sure would be nice if he was. He’s the only WR I would take with a pick that high. Maclin is a bigger version of JLH, and we saw Johnnie Lee’s struggles with route running and such in his rookie year. Just don’t think a WR taken number 7 overall should have to have a learning curve like that. Nicks is solid, but no way we take him that high.

If Crabtree’s not there I would hope that we would address the D-line in some way. It’s encouraging that, while with Seattle, Marshall and Board did have success generating a pass rush. I think that was attractive to Al because as we know the cornerstones of his defensive philosophy are pressure on the passer wtih the front four, and good cornerback play. I would like to think that they would be able to determine where the real holes are on the line and address them; I know we can sit here and say stuff, but both of those guys have a pretty good track record, and unlike Ryan, Al’s is the kind of system they’ve been coaching for a long time. Will it work? Who knows, but the Giants have shown that with the right personnel and proper execution it’s not an unsound philosophy.

I am sold on Brace and Brinley, though. I’m not going to say “I saw them first” or anything, but I did post about them both in late December and really do think that they (or players like them) should be strongly considered.

    Don’t be silly
    ——————————–
In Cowher’s 15 seasons, the Steelers captured eight division titles, earned ten postseason playoff berths, played in 21 playoff games, advanced to six AFC Championship games and made two Super Bowl appearances. He is one of only six coaches in NFL history to claim at least seven division titles. It has become an article of faith among NFL pundits that the Steelers do not have a bad team two years in a row – they have never lost 10 or more games in consecutive years since the 1970 NFL merger. At the conclusion of the 2005 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers had the best record of any team in the National Football League since Cowher was hired as head coach.

  • http://none MaddenRaider

Hey Steeler fan, aren’t you wishing you guys would have just choked in the playoffs and missed the SB in ’95? You’d be 6-0 in the Super Bowl. Whiner fans still have bragging rights on the 1.000 percentage.

  • Ching Dai

    Sup folks,
Just dropping a line, cuz I’ve enjoyed the majority of the posts I’ve read and wanted to acknowledge that….it looks as though the last hire of Marshall for DC can’t be too far away, so aside from debating the draft (which has been beaten to death in these forums already), we’re at a good breaking point for me. I honestly can’t keep spending this much time at work reading these forums, especially when over half the posts either have NOTHING to do with the topic or is just banter between trolls. Half the time I get just about caught up with no time left to add my own reply. Boo hoo for me.

Anyhoo much respect for the real Raiders fans in here, I hope to chat with y’all and enjoy Big Trouble quotes again soon. Like my opinion matters for squat, but just throwing it out there….this is a longstanding proud franchise, so stay away from the ledge, enjoy life and I hope to see the team resepected among the league again soon. Here’s to Al kickin the bucket. Peas.

Keeping your best player for one more year…that PROBABLY won’t be a Super Bowl year mind you….and losing said player for NOTHING is insane. yeah, draft picks are no certainty, but losing Nnamdi in 2010 would be a certainty and WITH NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT.

Do the Raiders really need a replay of Charles Woodson?

Get the picks and take a shot and getting the team better.

  • Undead Al

Cowher had the Madden label of not being able to win the big game untill he won a Superbowl though.

Its not our fault that PA has the ugliest people in America but its still a fact of life, now move on.

Quit yer whining you wimps and take it up the a$$ like a man like I do. All good fans just need ta sit back, spread their cheeks and let the man give them whatever they want, and good fans take it with a smile on their faces.

Stop spreading lies about Al Davis and the Raiders and start spreading your cheeks!

AL should of sign NAMDI long term last year…INSTEAD he jerked off on the phone for hours personalizing a contract for a guy who couldnt play in bump n run

thats how great AL is..anyways..you think NAMDI or say BURGESS wants to bust thier hump for this team..

    hell no

..get picks while you can cause the RAIDERS need help in many areas

  • http://none MaddenRaider

OK, this is really negative, but I have to say it. Who wants to bet that a) we lose our first game, and b) we run the ball less than 30 times?

  • Undead Al

Depends on who we play in the opener. If its Pittsburg then I would say you will win the bet because all we have to do to beat them is throw it 60 times. Haley sure does regret not throwing more in the first half.

  • Jhill

Against NE, Schillens had 1 catch for 4 yds, and JLH had 3 for 66 yds and a TD. The TD was a 56 yd play, so 2 for 10 yds on the others.

Against Tex, both had 3 catches for 56 and 52 yds, and both scored a TD.

Against Tampa, Schillens had 3 catches for 46 yds and a TD, and JLH had 6 for 52 and a TD.

  • T. Boone Pickens

Al? I don’t understand why you put up with this crap. At your age you should be spending all your time at the golf course. Sell me your team. I’ll move the team to San Antonio and you’ll have your revenge on these ungrateful fans in Oakland.

  • M

    S&B,

a certainty? hmmm, I have been certain of a lot of things that have become, well, uncertainties.

    KoolKell,

granted. Cowher had success. Thought all the whining here was that the Raiders have not won a Super Bowl in a quarter century. Hasn’t that been the ultimate goal?

  • Florida Pete

    I agree 100% M!

This isn’t a democracy so just lay down and take it like a good fan!

It is obvious that Cable is way better than Kiffie .25% vs .333.

I think I proved my point!

    Zach Miller 65.1
    JLH 52.3
    DMC 76.3
    Chaz 46.9

    Lelie 24.4
    Walker 46.9
    Curry 39.6

Yes and its unacceptable. But also remember that these two guys didn’t start 16 games. I think Higgins started all of 3 games? Schilens was hurt most of the year and maybe had 3 or 4 starts himslf.

The question to be asked is….what receivers in the draft are substantively better prospects than these two are right now? The Raiders know what they have in Higgins and Schilens. Can you say Nicks or Maclin are better prospects? Crabtree I’ll give you, but not the others. So then, if the prospects available are not much better than JLH and Chaz AND the Raiders have other pressing needs to fill, why would the Raiders use their top picks on a receiver?

THEY ARE WHO WE KNOW THEY ARE….31ST AGAINST THE RUN!

  • Jhill

ya, but thats cuz we were wasting our time with walker/lelie/curry most of the year.

    ————————————————–

Schillens moved into the starting lineup ahead of Curry very early in the season.

  • http://none MaddenRaider

Undead, good point. Let me add to it, then. I’ll bet you in our first 4 games next year, we run the ball an average of less than 30 times a game. The reason I’m saying this is because people who wanted Cable are using the Tampa game to support their argument. We only won in Tampa because we ran the ball. I’m thinking Cable only ran the ball because Al was nowhere near the place. That won’t be the case this season. Does Al want to see his golden qb handing the ball off? Cause it’s the only way this team is going to break the .500 mark for the first time since ’02.

  • T. Boone Pickens

Al. I’ll even draft Beanie and show these imbreds what a genius you really are.

  • darkknight01

How about a new updated Raider Mock with a trade down…..

    Trade down 5 spots….

Round 1- DE Everette Brown or Orakpo
Round 2a- WR Kenny Britt or Hakeem Nicks
Round 2b- DT Ron Brace or Ziggy Hood
    Round 3- RT Troy Kropog
    Round 4- LB Jasper Brinkley
    No 5th Rounder yet
    Round 6- FB Quinn Johnson

  • DarthPirate

I don’t have a problem with the Cable decision, it just bothers me that it happened so late.

Get this though, the guys on Sirius’ Movin’ the Chains actually liked the idea of hiring Marshall (when it happens), and liked that Al was going to put experienced guys around a younger head coach (Cable).

Not saying we are going to be .500 next year, but maybe this isn’t all bad.

I have no idea why it takes uncle Al 12000 years to make a decision…
