I DID SAY GOOD MORNING TO 4EVA YESTERDAY EARLY, IT IS GETTING BAD HWNDR, WHAT CAN WE DO ?

  • RaiderRockstar

will Samson Satele play guard or center?

I guess we’ll know if we draft Max Unger in Round 2.

Center is no longer the biggest need.

    Wide Receiver, anyone?

  • RaiderRockstar

Grove started 14 games over the past 2 seasons. He’s 6’4″ 300 lbs with 3 false starts and 3 sacks allowed.

Satele started all 32 games over the past 2 seasons. He’s 6’3″ 300 lbs with 3 false starts and 6 sacks allowed

plus he’s 3 years younger than Grove and has none of the injury issues

  • RaiderRockstar

Satele won’t face any DT’s in the AFC West as good as Stroud, Jenkins or Wilfork.

  • RaiderRockstar

    be back later …

    THANK’S ROCKSTAR,,

  • hwnrdr

So, Dirt Lot, you too? Yeah, that is the one thing that can be distinguished from the real me and whoever trolls as me…I will not call anyone an FN Moron even if it was justified. I am too old for that kind of stuff. Besides, like you, I post sometimes in the evening, but mostly weekdays in the AM. This past weekend, I was in and out pretty much all the time, so I really had no time to be arguing on a blog. I guess, I just hope that registration gets worked in to this blog soon…

  • hwnrdr

About Satele…hey, he could work out, but the only thing that bothers me is why would we give up a pick and Grove for him? I mean, he was good in June Jones run and shoot offense. He may be nimble enough.
Thanks Rockstar for that info on him.

  • slash

Most of you thought that Grove sucked. He was injured every year.

Samson is about the same size, same skill set, just younger, cheaper and healthier. If we can get a starting center who was pretty much the same as Grove and was healthy in the sixth round this year we would be happy. We just got it…somebody who is not a bust, but a general ok player.

  • slash

We didn’t give up Grove for Samson. Grove went after free agent money that we didn’t want to give him. We got a guy who is the same, just cheaper for a 6th.

  • http://PROFOOTBALLTALK.COM DIRT LOT FOOTBALL

I ENJOY THIS BLOG FOR THE DIFFERANT POINT’S OF VIEW,WOULD BE BORING IF EVERYONE THOUGHT THE SAME, I ENJOY WHEN PEOPLE DISAGREE WITH ME,THE CONVERSATION’S ARE MORE INTERASTING THAT WAY…SORRY EVERY ONE , I STILL THINK WIDE-OUT RD-1 -BEST OL OR DL REST OF DRAFT IMO.

  • RaiderRockstar

why would we give up a pick and Grove for him?

    ***

Grove wasn’t a part of the trade. that was already a done deal. Miami WAY overpaid Grove. I’m glad Al Davis didn’t match or up that offer.

Look at it this way. We got a young center who has started every game in his NFL career. Dolphins made the playoffs last year and a big part of that was because of their run game and being able to keep Chad Pennington upright. We got this player for a 6th round pick. what a steal! What player in the 6th Round could we have drafted to match this kind of production on Week 1? nobody, especially not at Center. Satele is cheaper, younger & healthier than Grove. I’ll take him.

  • RaiderRockstar

LOL. Slash and I are obviously on the same page

  • RaiderRockstar

    where is LMN?

I bet he’s angry the Eagles signed FB Leonard Weaver.

  • hwnrdr

Okay, I will go with that. I must have read wrong because I thought that report said that Grove was part of it. I knew that Grove went after fa money, just got thrown off this morning.
    Thanks Rockstar and Slash!!!

    WAS IT 4 SURE A 6TH ROUNDER

I know, I saw that this weekend too.

    RaiderRockstar…yeaaah man! ha ha

I’m all for this deal, as long as it’s a 6th

  • RaiderRockstar

    WAS IT 4 SURE A 6TH ROUNDER

    ***

    rumor has it.

We’re waiting on Jerry Mac, David White, Jason Jones, Raider Beat, PFT, etc. to confirm

  • hwnrdr

That would be good. What does that mean for the draft now? DL, OL? Or what everybody has us doing, a WR? Suspense building…can’t wait til Draft day!!!

  • RaiderRockstar

It’s obvious to me that Cable didn’t think Mack was worth the 7th overall pick after watching him at the pro day. He’s good, but not THAT good type of thing.

I still wouldn’t rule out drafting a Center if Wade and/or Morris aren’t in our future plans. Or if Satele is better suited for guard in the zbs …

  • slash

I am now sure that we’re going BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE in the first round. OT, WR or DL

  • hwnrdr

Best Player Available could be Crabtree if that is how Cable and Co are playing it.
What if we trade back into the first round and mack is still there? You think we will take him then?

  • RaiderRockstar

what everybody has us doing, a WR?

    ***

I don’t care what the mock drafts say. Don’t care about Mel Kiper Jr. or Todd McShay. These guys have Al Davis drafting Maclin for speed purposes to stretch the field.

Higgins, Schilens & Shields are all speed guys. We need a possession receiver. a guy to move the chains and catch passes inside the 20. Crabtree has sure hands and is a great route runner. As often as Texas Tech threw the ball, that much is evident.

With Dakota constantly making a good arguement for o-line and S&B constantly making a good arguement for d-line I’m starting to feel like the minority in here wanting Michael Crabtree at #7 :)

  • RaiderRockstar

Best Player Available could be Crabtree if that is how Cable and Co are playing it.

    ***

many scouts and coaches say Crabs is the best player in the draft. same people said McFadden was the BPA last year. We got DMC at #4 and if we get Crabs at #7 we should have an explosive offense

Henderson, Barnes & Satele can’t be any worse than Harris, Green & Grove. right guys?

  • hwnrdr

Hopefully that is an upgrade! Only time will tell, though, but if any of those guys don’t work out as planned, i just hope that Cable yanks them sooner than Harris last year. An I agree, we already do have the speedsters, we do need a possesion receiver. I hope that Maclin is not the pick…

  • slash

    RaiderRock

Absolutely. My list for our first rounder is

    1) Crabtree
    2) Best OT
    3) Best DL

  • slash

    Our OL is still week.

Grove = Samson S. (wash)maybe a bit better because of health and price.

    Green= Barnes (no real upgrade)

    Harris = Henderson (slight upgrade)

It is clear we’re not going C in the 1st 2 rounds so I hope for an OT there.

  • slash

    Green= Pears…no real upgrade.

  • slash

McQ and James Martin…..not in the game.

  • http://InsideOaklandRaiders CJ Legend 34

At first I did not know what to make of thispick. It almost sounded like an “uneven” trade for the Raiders. Until I got to thinking about how much Miama over paid for Grove (Basically same size as Samson Satele). The other positive is Satele has less injuries and was a starter as well. I hope the draft pick was way back in the draft. Now that we have Satele I doubt we draft another Center especially since Satele has shown he can start in the NFL. The other positive is they say Satele is a high character guy and pretty quick on his feet maybe he fits Cable’s ZB System better. Now I think the Raiders are going to draft a WR in round one if Crabtree falls to 7. If not, I would not be in objection to us either trading down in the first round for an additional draft pick. Reason being is I would risk a pick on Heyward-bey late in Rd One over Maclin at 7(to risky). Also Heyward is a bigger target, leaper, and faster. I watched film on him over the weekend and I walked away with a higher opinion of this guy. It may take him a while to get use to the NFl game, but he has the right tools. With the additional pick we can look at drafting a D-Lineman or Safety.

  • slash

I would be into trading down for 2 picks and taking Heyward Bey (even with his low Wonderlick) and a good DE who can stop the run.

  • Nnamdi21

    Ha!

Guess who started the Quinn trade rumor?

    How about…

Cleveland’s DT Shaun Rogers and Brady Quinn for Jay Cutler.

I wonder if this type of deal could happen.

Rogers already wants out of Cleveland. Seems kind of like a problem child, but Denver would automatically up grade its deplorable D line and get an “NFL ready” QB of the future.

    Never know…

    Green= Pears…no real upgrade.

    ================================

True dat. Pears is younger me thinks…

  • http://ibabuzz 4evaRaider

yep it appears that center position is partially answerd,we still only have Wade, not the long term and Morris.Still thin but not as much a priority, imo.

    Sooo…Now the weak-link of this here chain is the,drum-roll please…That 31st ranked defense vs. da run!!!S&B MUST B besides him-self =)

  • RaiderRockstar

If Crabs is gone by #7 we should take Orakpo or Raji

    thats my draft board …

    1. Crabtree
    2. Orakpo
    3. Raji

no way all 3 players are gone

  • hwnrdr

What about Hakeem Nicks? I’m srry guys, I haven’t seen anything from the Combine or pro days.

  • slash

Nnamdi…was that just a shot in the dark that gained steam? ha ha

  • RaiderRockstar

Guess who started the Quinn trade rumor?

    Yours truly…

    ***

N21: that Quinn to donks trade rumor started way before 3/21 because I was talking about it last Monday and I wasn’t the first

  • RaiderRockstar

    What about Hakeem Nicks?

    ***

Hakeem Nicks scored an 11 on the Wonderlic test at the NFL Scouting Combine in February.

    LOL

  • hwnrdr

I know, I seen your post on that, but what does that really mean, though?

  • http://dontbotherresponding.com Bo Schembechler Jackson

Yalls trippin, thanks for the early word…

I think Satele may be the starting RG if Carlisle continues to slip. Heck we may even cut Coop if McQ comes back strong. But we were thin at guard, and this helps a lot.

Satele is a great athlete with exceptional technique. If we can get Wood or Luigs in round 3, I will feel even better.

Either way, it is nice to be rid of Grove. I was tired of hearing about his knees all season. And I was tired of watching him get trucked on 3rd and long.

Al seems so much smarter with his $$ this year. Does he have new advisors, or is he just ignoring the old ones?

  • DT42

looks like we traded for Sampson Satele, still would like to see a Center drafted on the first day.

  • RaiderRockstar

what does that really mean, though?

    ***

it means he’s as dumb as a box of rocks

see Vince Young for example … he scored a 6

A score of 10 is literacy

  • http://raiders Oakglenn

Miami actually was pretty happy with Satele. Smart guy, good size, he’s only been in the league for 2 years. Looks good on paper. Real good. I don’t think we gave up too much for him.

  • RaiderRockstar

If we can get Wood or Luigs in round 3, I will feel even better.

    ***

BSJ: that would be nice. Who would we cut though? Wade or Morris? Wade is a vet with tons of starting experience. Morris is young and versatile enough to play both guard and center. He can long snap too, but not as well as Condo

  • RaiderRockstar

I’m glad we didn’t inherit another Gerard Warren type of contract is this trade for Satele …

  • http://ibabuzz 4evaRaider

Satelle has started 32 nfl games,in a row,at center.Big Al would be foolish 2 switch him 2 RG unless he still plans 2 take a center in the 1st 2 or 3 rounds, imo.

This is the thickest smoke-screen coming out of Oakland in a long time.Man its WIDE-OPEN AGAIN!!!

  • http://dontbotherresponding.com Bo Schembechler Jackson

RRS, you cut Morris if Wade has a good camp, and vice versa. I have never been a Morris fan, frankly (he pays a high price in weakness for his athleticism) and would not miss him. Only if McQ washes out post-injury would I keep Morris for guard depth.

As for long snapper, I would be training Jano to snap punts. He’s bigger than Condo, and a pretty good tackler. LOL.

  • http://InsideOaklandRaiders CJ Legend 34

You know I keep hearing everyone talk about drafting or picking up centers and making them guards, guards making them tackles, tackles making them guards. Does this always work? Is that not what happened to Gallery, which made him a basket case for two or three years. Can we realistically keep switching lineman positions like that and think it will be successful?
