Go Raiders!!
April 14th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
We have to play at broncos and browns in late dec cold
April 14th, 2009 at 4:13 pm
Thanks Raider Dell.
I guessed two “snow games” after Dallas. Instead got three if Pitt is nasty in early Dec. Frozen tundra it is.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
Damn we gotta tough stretch for weeks 12,13 and 14..i’m glad our bye is late this year..about time..
April 14th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
Well at least our bye is well positioned in the
middle of the season. If we build our team as
an effective running team maybe we can win those
post Thanksgiving cold games.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
A week 9 bye has to be one of the later byes we have had in a season in awhile.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
Later nation…….
April 14th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
Wow, first four games against AFC, 3 in our own division back to back to back. We will know exactly what type of season we are going to have by the end of week four.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
From week 5 until week 12 the Raiders don’t even have to leave California. That’s pretty wild. Guess the NFL doesn’t expect the A’s to be in the Series.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
THat’s a favorable schedule. Put the Giants and Eagles back to back and the Boys and Steelers back to back.
Raiders have 10 days to get ready for Pittsburgh.
The Raiders really should start the season 3-1 to 4-0 and no worse than 2-2. Getting Chiefs and Broncos early should really help the offense hit its mark.
I hope Cable and Company see that Brandon Jacobs, Bryant Westbrook, Clinton Portis, Marion Barber/Felix Jones, LT and Sproles, Larry Johnson and Thomas Jones are on the schedule.
Just a heads up for the draft.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:26 pm
Boy, you guys are taking optimism to new levels. 4-0?
3-1? LOL!
April 14th, 2009 at 4:28 pm
this guy should change his name 2 hater
April 14th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
I gotta say, this seems like a favorable schedule.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
he should change his name to “one eyed slap stick “
April 14th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
i cant wait till da draft s over. im plum sikk of yall sain we should draft dis guy or dat guy .
April 14th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
How many years in a row have you all been predicting 3-1 or 4-0 starts?
April 14th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
LOL
@ 23
April 14th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
4 the record # 23 was a typo
April 14th, 2009 at 4:33 pm
we have a stretch where we dont leave the state for 6 weeks,..thats great,…a late bye,..3 games in december in cold spots but we easily win two of those,…all good…open and close at home,…im happy bout the sked.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
And only 2 games in the dirt in ragular season, thats not bad at all.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
wit dat being said we should draft — lol . but how bout da radiers get ridiculously bold and trade henderson, & bush , and secnd round pick 2 bills for j. peters / then trade fargas and 1st round pikk 4 braylon edwards. this would give us playoff talent. oh wait. we still sukk at safety, and our linebackers arent tough enuff. can sumbody say DA ANIMAL from ohio state…..?
April 14th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
Why can’t we express our distain for the donkey’s moderators?
April 14th, 2009 at 4:36 pm

April 14th, 2009 at 4:39 pm
We’ll know where we stand in the division by week 4 that’s a make or break start.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
yeah im a bush supportor like most of us dillusional raider nationers. but hell, ya gotta be bold in da league. and mr putty hands braylon edwards is intriguing. and j. peters is da best tackle in da league
April 14th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
Per PFT:
University of Iowa tight end Brandon Myers is visiting the Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks this week, according to a league source.
Myers has also visited the Chicago Bears and the Cincinnati Bengals.
The 6′4, 250-pound tight end ran the 40-yard dash between 4.72 and 4.78 seconds at his Pro Day workout at Iowa, also posting a 31-inch vertical leap and a 9-8 broad jump.
Myers was named All-Big Ten honorable mention last season.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:41 pm

americans make great lemonade, any of you have a nice recipe ?
I think I want to make some tomorrow…
April 14th, 2009 at 4:41 pm

April 14th, 2009 at 4:43 pm

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
6 lemons
1 cup white sugar
6 cups cold water
DIRECTIONS
Juice the lemons to make 1 cup of juice. To make your labor easier, FIRMLY roll the lemons between your hand and counter top before cutting in half and juicing.
In a gallon pitcher combine 1 cup lemon juice, 1 cup sugar, and 6 cups cold water. Stir. Adjust water to taste. Chill and serve over ice.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
9-7, not bad.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
The way cable talked about bush it was all big al’s doing so future looks good for bush.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
yo 4eva… did ya get the music I sent ya straitened out??
April 14th, 2009 at 4:48 pm
Doesn’t seem to bad Travel wise, except for Pittsburg in early December.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
4 winnable games out of the first 7. Doesn’t mean it will happen, but stranger things have happened. (The Cardinals were in the Super Bowl!)
The spacing in this schedule is better than I expected. It is not as brutal as it could have been.
I will be in Houston on Oct 4th and in Dallas on Thanksgiving.
Anyone interested in Tailgating, let me know.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:50 pm
408 not yet but I promise I will 2morrow.But 408 this is the question
We play Kc on 11-15-09 I wanna go 2 the game.Norco Bob said he will set me up with ticket and everything but if he cant I need 2 know which hotel has a BART pick-up that will take me 2 the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 14th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
SnB
Your Top 10 WR & DT picks since 1980, really drove the point home. You’re much safer that high with a DT.
And the Cable text was long, I couldn’t tell where the heck he is going.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
While our schedules don’t look too bad, it could have been worse. Look at the Donkeys… They get a tough stretch:
Week 4: Dallas
Week 5: Patriots
Week 6: Chargers
Week 8: Ravens
Week 9: Steelers
Week 10: Redskins
Week 11: Chargers again
Week 12: NY Giants
Hardly any gimmies in that group. We have the same groups, but atleast we have the chiefs, denver, texans, jets, chiefs and bengals thrown in between to mix it up. Games where we can consider to have a chance if not favored.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:53 pm
KoolKell… I think he (Cable) wanted it that way. Gotta keep everybody guessing right now, even the fans.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:53 pm
The Chargers have a schedule similar to ours and the Chiefs look like the Donkeys.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Excuse me:
The schedule doesn’t seem too bad Travel wise, except for Pittsburg in early December.

4evaRaider,
There are several hotels right on Hegenberger Rd that are witin walking distance if the Coloseium.
April 14th, 2009 at 4:55 pm
Wow. For once it doesn’t feel like we’re getting screwed. I really like the idea of starting with the AFC West. It’s the ultimate gauge. We can really make a run at the division with a fast start.

Thank you very much RaiderLen,I will get info from 408 or somebody
April 14th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
We have to Travel Cross Country to Face the Giants, but the Eagles, Jets, Skins, and Ravens gotta come to see us and that is a LOOOONG Flight. That bodes well for us no matter how you cut it. Eagles and Ravens will give us fits, but the Jets and Skins are gonna have a longer flight back home with no booze, and a loss on the board from our RAIIDDERS…..
Don’t get me wrong, We will have a shot at the Eagles and Ravens, its a tossup, but I would Rather see us win the Games we were supposed to win, than pull off one miracle and beat the Steelers or something and lose games to the Browns and the Bengals or the Chiefs or Texans…We MUST win the games we are supposed to win.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:04 pm

4eva, If you go online I know for sure there is a Motel 6 that is a half or 3/4 of a mile fron the colosieum.
As far as Motel 6 goes it’s a nice one.
My company did the flooring in it.
If you go online and search for Hotels on Hegenberger Rd. you’ll probably be able to bring up a list that will help you dial it in.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:10 pm
we got the jets the same week we beat them last year
April 14th, 2009 at 5:11 pm

April 14th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
4evaRaider
Try to fly into Oakland, if you can’t then your next airport should be SFO.
On Hengenburger there is a Motel 6, not to bad and is walking distance to the Coliseum, like 3 tenths of a mile to the gates.
Flying in to Oakland you can catch the bus to Hegenburger to the motels. There are a few motels along Hegenburger, do a search and ask us what you’ve found, we’ll tell you the truth, sort off LOL.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:13 pm
Stay in the Hilton on Hegenberger with the rest of the NFL’rs.

My Final Mock Draft:
1- Raj/ Orakpo
2- M Johnson/ Ramses B
3- Bruton/ Vaughn
4- Clinton McD/ DT: D Scott or T Taylor.
7- OLB: Russell Allen SDSU, or Ty Sales from Penn.
Sales was suppose to be a 2nd or 3rd Talent, but off the field issue may get him undrafted.

I thought it was interesting when Cable mentioned “Four spots” and “But I know we need one of four guys.”
In other words, Al’s big four.
I think I know three.
Crabtree
A. Smith
Curry
Not sure on the fourth.

We can win against the Texans and win one against the disChargers.
That’s 10- 6, or 11-5. lol let me smoke more herb, and we can be 12-4.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
ya know if we get raji and braylon edwards , there is true hope
April 14th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
The Raiders always lose to the Texans. It’s that annual game that we all get fooled into believing it will be an easy victory, then the Raiders plays like garbage.

I’m just happy Cable is on board with OT’s in this draft because we could biuld an Oline that could lst for 5-6 years. The comments about Crabtree I concur, that kid is going to be special. I wouldn’t touch the others for this team in the 1st rnd eventhough I think they are talented.
Please draft Andre Smith. and get an edge rusher in the second rnd.

O Mock Draft 15.0:
1- Raji/ Orakpo
2- M Johnson/ Ramses B
3- Bruton/ Vaughn
4- Clinton McD/ Sammie Lee, D Scott, or T Taylor.
7- OLB: Russell Allen, or Ty Sales.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:26 pm
I think trying to analyze the favorability of the schedule at this point is pretty sketchy since you don’t know how good the other teams will be, which teams will be hot early vs. which will be hot late, etc.
Having said that, I think this schedule is pretty decent for the Raiders:
– Getting the Broncos and Chiefs early under their new regimes with new QBs could be pretty good.
– A few extra days rest/preparation before facing the SB champs is nice.
– Only 2 games vs. 2008 playoff teams in the 2nd half of the season. The suspected “tough games” are about as spread out as they reasonably can be.
– Bye week right in the middle of the year when it probably does the most good.
April 14th, 2009 at 5:27 pm
I don’t even need to see the schedule.
1) Chargers 13-3
2) Broncos 7-9
3) Raiders 7-9
4) Chiefs 5-11

Chargers 27, Raiders 9
Chiefs 20, Raiders 17 OT
Broncos 23, Raiders 14
April 14th, 2009 at 5:39 pm
jerrymac: Good question, but it’s worth nothing that in games where the offense puts points on the board, the run defense is usually better. Not great, maybe, but certainly better. Touchdowns help everything _ including the defense. If the Raiders suddenly started scoring a few TDs per game, you’d see an upgrade in the run defense because of that alone.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
jerrymac: When you’re planning to use McFadden as a receiver in a lot of sets, not sure why you’d add Harvin to the mix.

Hey, alright – it’s my favorite little bitch Charged Down! So happy you decided to visit me in here, even though I don’t normally administer lessons to 16 year olds. You are my one exception (for those keeping score at home, Baby Albert is approx 18).
I’m always impressed when you show your face in here, considering the chargers have won 0 superbowls.
Compare that to the 3 that we’ve won.
Don’t worry, I know you have trouble with reading and comprehension, so I’ll write it slower.
Chargers = 0 superbowls
Raiders = 3 superbowls
Now let’s get onto more pressing matters. Is today going to be the day you try to prove you actually play in a Blink-182 cover band?

The Chargers have never won a superbowl and you play kick ass rock and roll.
If you’re so proud of all this awesomeness, post a link to your band so the Nation can be the judge.
My guess is still that you play Blink-182 covers on Thursdays at Winston’s, weigh about 160 lbs, have a GPA in the low 2s, and get your Ryan Leaf lunchbox stolen every other day at school.
another reminder -
that’s 0 championships for you
3 for us
Hurry up and post that link, CD – I’m sure you don’t have much time until you have to start your biology homework.

We’re going to know alot after Week 3. I say this every year, but i could 3-0. Monday the 14th is the big one. Shut all these front-running dis-chargers up.
April 14th, 2009 at 6:11 pm

All I can say is it’s about F@#$%^& time the league gave us a bye in the middle of the season instead of week 2 or 3. Thank you Jesus! 1 Nation,Raider Nation

I would have to say Troll 35 has to be the our blog site troll, he likes the Blues and provides happy faces when we have great comments, so I guess he is our troll and so it is.
April 14th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
is it true that the Oakland P.D.has banned any live entertainment before the game? that would suck outloud big time.I want to hear Slackenloader before I go into the Black Hole!
April 14th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
agreed Dell…
Happy trolly troll is ok by me….
April 14th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
Oh Charged Down … you are just priceless, my little personal bitch.
I just have to give you credit for sneaking past your dad’s security locks to get onto this site, then bragging about your championship-less team and fantasy rock and roll band.
And all this probably with a black eye that 8th grade chick gave you today on the tetherball court.
Once my bitch … always my bitch!

Lott 42
The Coliseum with the blessing of the Oakland PD has restricted all live music before Raider games. The natural excuse was no crown control and no permit for this type of engagement.
A few years back Metallica played, it was not announced and they just rolled in and busted out the equipment and started playing, The crowd was great nobody was injured it was just good stuff.
Since then they have broken down all fun aspects of tailgating, so I guess we are left with boom boxes, car stereos and alike.
The law also prohibits any music from a DJ also.
April 14th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
who is your fantasy band charged up? is it Menudo? no maybe the Bay City rollers? huh?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
I didn’t see you on here, Krappy! Another unexpected gift! What a pleasure.
Now listen up – we all know you’re a senile old goat with very loose bowels. But to be close friends with a teenager like Charged Down could have serious legal implications for you.
So do what I tell you to do, Krappy, and I’ll keep you out of the hole and – with a little help – keep your pajamas dump-free:
Log off the blog, jump in the bathtub, clean up your mess, have your nice hot oatmeal dinner, and lights out before 7:30.
And no more romantic overtures towards Pacific Beach high school boys!
April 14th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
thanks Raider Dell, man that just sucks! In all the years I’ve been going to the games,I’ve never seen one incident of someone getting out of hand while one of the bands were playing.I heard about Metallica playing up there.I think it was the 2002 season we went to the Superbowl.I would of loved to see that one!just hearing them before the game has to get you fired up!
April 14th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
Cable basically said the Defense will be the same. Does that just bother me?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
Krappy, only 1 hour until lights out! Stop wandering around your living room thinking about a defense to complicated for your senile old brain to process and GET IN THE BATH!
Sheesh, do I have to do everything around here?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
I think our schedule looks pretty good this time around. No schedule is easy. It will be a big challenge to play 3 Division games, 3 weeks in a row but 2 of those are at home so its to our advantage. I’m more happy about the Bye in Week 9 than anything else.
April 14th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
“JaMarcus is a pretty smart kid, now, so he understands that and, as I mentioned, he has embraced it and so I like where we’re headed.”
I like how Tom Cable said, “Jamarcus is a smart kid, now,…
He wasn’t a smart kid before?
April 14th, 2009 at 6:46 pm

April 14th, 2009 at 6:47 pm

looks like it can be a 9-7 and maybe a 10-6 season barring any major injuries. and 3 of the last 5 games played will be in cold areas.

We need to keep Bush in our camp, imo……Jim
April 14th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
We are so close, we need a nose tackle, dominate, we need a left o tackle, dominate, I love my team, Al could you listen?
April 14th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
I agree with most of the other posts about our schedule early. 3-1 should be obtainable. On the draft we should trade down in the first and go OT, C, in the 1st. WR and DT and safety in the second and third.
RAIDERS AFC west champs in 2009!
April 14th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
Agree R8, our D-line has been pourous for too long, Al reads this blog, I hope it helps…………JJ
April 14th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
koolkell,
it does not bother me.i love the 4-3,i just can`t understand why the raiders don`t draft d-linemen early in the draft to play it.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
We are 3/4, get over it
April 14th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
I hear ya 860TC, it has been a long drought, hopefully the cable guy helps us become great again!
April 14th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
Anyone else think we trade down if Sanchez is there for a needy team at 7?
April 14th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
In my opionion, Cabel grew up, Russel grew up, This young team grew up, there are so many things to look up for this year, fan since 64, I still believe, and Al is still the fox you have to look out for!!!!!JJ
April 14th, 2009 at 7:21 pm
I just can’t sit here and say we’re going to be 10-6 or we’re going to win the division because we look like we can do that every year. I see improvement but this team has alot to prove and I need to see them do it before I concede 3-1 to start or anything like that. Lets not overlook our foes because they’re doing the same thing. The last thing we want to see is Kyle Orton light us up and we find ourselves pissed off early in the season because we expected playoffs.
Maybe we can win the Division at 6-10? I figure, lets predict a poor record instead, maybe we’ll get the opposite?
April 14th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
24, I hear ya. Lots of hopes crushed early the past few seasons. Call me naive but I think Cable has our team turned around. We need more pics in the draft though! I think Sanchez will be there at 7 and someone will call us. Again load the lines up with talent. OT, C, DT DE…then go WR or pick up a vet WR in FA.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
We have alot of question marks.
QB – Is Russell ready?
RB – Who the hell is our starting RB?
FB – If not O’Neal, Who?
WR – Can these guys be productive?
TE – Miller is solid.
OL – This team depends on the success of this area.
DL – Can we stop the run? Can we rush the passer?
LB – Can our LB’s improve without steady DL play?
DB – Are the Safeties good enough?
P – Future Hall of Famer.
K – Hot and Cold.
There are too many question marks to say we’re going to take the league by storm. There are certainly positives but lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. I think we can be better than the last 6 years but…baby steps.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:28 pm
Its hard to believe the chargers have never won a superbowl,..how can a charger fan ever boast about anything when they are simply a team thats never won a title?…and now on top of all that they will move back to L.A. where all their misery started. sad.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
Opponent W L T W-L% Tm Opp
Houston Texans 1 3 0 .250 75 93

As a loyal comcast subscriber I can hardly wait,..no more nfl network,..and thank God no Raider games on nfl net this year,…but most of all no more total access,..no more of rich eisen, the most feminie male ever,..and her playing the part of the inept fairy white guy with a cast of jive aasss ex players,..talk about embarrassing. comcast you arent ditching nfl net soon enough….and I had directv for 4 years,..simply an awful cable company.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
24, So do our AFC west rivals, Denver and KC have ?’s at QB, RB, also, along with a new coach with new defense schemes. I think we can get a jump on them early.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
I thought Kiffin had our team turned around. Man was I wrong.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
R8drfan1980 – Well its question mark vs. question mark. May the best question mark win right? My point is, its unknown territory so we can’t say we’re going to win. The Broncos have a Coach who knew us pretty good based on what the Patriots did to us. Todd Haley is no slouch and was able to help the Cardinals of all teams make it to the Superbowl as their OC. Norv Turner should continue to waste the Chargers but they still have talent.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:35 pm
i read an article a few days ago…
says teams are desperately trying to trade out of the top ten…
says the talent is pretty even this year in round one…
says there’s no special player(s) early in round one…
says it’s not worth the extra money you have to pay those early picks…
so…
all you guys that keep harping about trading down and picking up an extra 1st, 2nd or 3rd ???
it takes two to make a trade… and it ain’t happening…
personally… if i had the responsibility of drafting that high…
i would contact Ron Brace’s agent…
i would say i’m taking him number 7…
here’s the offer… and that offer would look like 2nd round money…
take it or leave it…
personally, i would rather pass… than pony up all that cash for an unproven rookie…
April 14th, 2009 at 7:35 pm
Norco Bob – I wasn’t siding with anybody. I was just putting the record out there. You don’t have to get mad about it. Albert Paine hates me. Relax.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
Does anyone know of any sports bars in Manhattan that favor the Raiders? I dont have Directv and will need to watch the games somewhere this coming year. Thanks.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
Tellin the truth, I do not think Cable is the answer, I believe in Raiders, They have it in their blood, they have it in their being, they live it, they love it, it’s just another day, the swagger will return, justified, we are so close…………JJ
April 14th, 2009 at 7:38 pm
I agree 24, a lot of ?’s. I just saw something in this team towards the end of the year in 2008 that I have not seen since Gruden was coach….teamwork with some intensity and fire. We will see, looking forward to April 25Th! I’m out
April 14th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
NY…no raider games on nfl net so who cares.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Looking at the schedule and looking at the draft…
Run the ball and stop the run…especially with
Giants w/o Plaxico Burress
Redskins – Clinton Portis is the offense
Cowboys – Nnamdi will shutdown Williams
Eagles – Westbrook
Ravens – They ran 40x the last game
And cold weather games in Cleveland, Denver and Pittsburgh
Please address the run defense. And don’t rely on the Febreeze Strategy and simply try to mask the odor of the run defense by thinking the offense will take care of everything.
Get tough! Look at how the opponents D-Lines are built to compete in the AFC North and NFC East
April 14th, 2009 at 7:41 pm

Some talent and they’ve under performed and been allowed to for too many years.
09′ will be another rebuilding year for Oakland, but should at least get us moving inthe right right direction instead of a basement dwelling flatline.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:43 pm
SnB Defense – Asomugha may shut down Roy Williams but that doesn’t stop Roy from going to the other side since Asomugha doesn’t shadow people. The Cowboys offense is talented. Roy Williams, Patrick Crayton, Jason Witten, Marion Barber, Felix Jones.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
Sorry poor boy, you are aching! lol
April 14th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
Its too bad we have to face Rob Ryan so late. We have to wait until Week 16. Maybe we’ll have an offense by then?

24, I believe, period. We are going to have it!jj

HARVIN’S POSITIVE RESULT IS CONFIRMED
Posted by Mike Florio on April 14, 2009, 10:08 p.m.
Though NFLDraftBible.com took a lot of criticism a couple of weeks ago, and perhaps rightfully so, for naming six players as having tested positive for marijuana or banned substances at the Scouting Combine, we’ve confirmed that one of the players outed by the web site — Florida receiver Percy Harvin — indeed tested positive for marijuana at the Combine.
The news isn’t a surprise, given that neither Harvin nor his agent, Joel Segal, have disputed the original report.
The impact of the result on Harvin’s draft standing remains to be seen. Smoking marijuana is a fairly common phenomenon; the issue is whether a guy can stop doing it in order to avoid getting suspended.
The fact that Harvin wasn’t able to produce clean urine for a test that he knew he was going to be taking isn’t an encouraging sign.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:49 pm
860 – No Offense (No pun intended) but…I’m sure you “believed” the last 6 years right?
April 14th, 2009 at 7:49 pm

April 14th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
24,
Chris Johnson can hold his own on the other side as well. I’ll tell ya what though…if Marion Barber starts rolling down hill and Felix Jones gets his feet….and the Raiders respond with that shoddy defense from last yr….Thanksgiving won’t be very enjoyable.

LIONS CLAIM WILL FRANKLIN
Posted by Mike Florio on April 14, 2009, 9:35 p.m.
As the saying goes, one man’s trash is another man’s future trash. Or something.
On Monday, the Chiefs waived receiver Will Franklin. On Tuesday, the Lions made a waiver claim for the 2008 fourth-round draft pick, according to Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com.
Per Marvez, four other teams made a claim for Franklin — the Rams, Eagles, Raiders, and Colts. The Lions got the nod, given the whole 0-16 thing.
Hooray?

Someone please fire Tony Cornhieser from ESPN monday night football. No matter the game, its unwatchable with the sound on.
Like watching the game with your a hole uncle who knows nothing about football but talks the entire game.
He actually makes that idiot Thiesman seem ok and THAT is saying something.
I remember listening to Thiesman and realizing he was completely wrong about 80% of what he was seeing or saying.
Shocking incompetence allowed by the **** media monopolies today.
I don’t watch NFLN’s Thursday showing of Total Access because of that flow killing know nothing loud mouth Italian MORON they feature.
HR rep whats his ***. This offensive Italian stereotype has NOTHING pertinent to add to the game of football in any way shape or form, yet they give him a special segment and let him destroy the flow of the program and racially insult people.
Disgusting…
Unforgiveable

SnB – I will be sitting at my brothers house in Redding and hes a Cowboys fan. We get along and we respect each others teams but that won’t stop us from getting competitive. I will literally be trapped if we get our butts kicked.

Nnamdi21 – No freakin kidding. Monday Night Football has never been the same since Madden/Michaels. We were downright spoiled and now they give us this crap? Its all about the first 4 games. The Raiders should beat Denver and K.C…no excuses. Houston is winnable since they beat them late last year.
San Diego will be a tough one to start the season.
The Raiders should be no worse than 2-2 to be honest. If they can get that….the rest of the season will be worth hanging in there and the team will grow.

189. Ture dat. A guy who can’t pee clean even when he KNOWS the test is coming and could be worht 1st round millions is a big time question mark.
But, if he can produce onthe field like Broncos WR Brandon Marshall, it apparently doesn’t matter.
No word at all about punishment for Marshall’s FOURTH arrest in THREE years.
I think 3 of the times its been for “punching and kicking” his girlfriend.
Last time right in front of the cops.
Still, NFLN features his azz regularly with interviews and what not.
Sick.
April 14th, 2009 at 7:57 pm
SnB – I sure hope so. I thought my baseball team (Giants) was looking pretty damn good when they won on Opening night, lost the 2nd game and kicked @$$ the 3rd game. They have lost every since and in terrible fashion and the young and promising team with a great pitching staff suddenly looks like a team I’m going to dread over the course of the season. Thats what I mean when it comes to the Raiders. Even at 2-2, theres still room for 2-14. Lets just take it game by game.

NO DOUBT!
I’m on a tear tonight so I might as well add Joe Buck to the list.
His monotone robotic delivery almost ruined one of the most exciting Super bowl finishes in history.
I was thinking, MAN! the Giants winning over the undefeated pats is huge, but theres Buck head with his one note drone. I mean fug! Get excited for chris sake!

BRANDON MYERS RACKING UP THE MILES
Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 14, 2009, 7:27 p.m.
University of Iowa tight end Brandon Myers is visiting the Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders, and the Seattle Seahawks this week, according to a league source.
Myers has also visited the Chicago Bears and the Cincinnati Bengals.
The 6′4″, 250-pound tight end ran the 40-yard dash between 4.72 and 4.78 seconds at his Pro Day workout at Iowa, also posting a 31-inch vertical leap and a 9′8″ broad jump.
Myers was named All-Big Ten honorable mention last season.

Raider Dell Says:
April 10th, 2009 at 10:00 pm
The schedule is what it is. All teams in the NFL are tough and our schedule is no different.
There are no teams we will play and give the thumbs up of a possible win. When you start to do that the focus becomes not how we play but who we play.
How many of you thought we would be able to beat the Texans after we got slaughtered by the Patriots the week before. Or who thought, (I know not many) we were going to fly across the states and beat a Tampa team desperate to get in the playoffs.
The only safe and sane thought would be to compete hard, play displined football and play to our strengths, that will guide us in the 2009 season.
The draft will be here very soon, I don’t think this draft will have the impact like the previous two years.
Most of the top 10 players in this years draft would be selected in rounds 10-15. This draft will provide a quality player who commands $18-20 million guaranteed.
The player must have an immediate impact, we can’t throw out the term (he has potential)he must play like a pro immediately.
The blog is all over the place which tells me their is no consensus on a player who can be a difference maker, like DMAC,Jamarcus. The calls for a trade down, WR, DT, LT, LB are players that will help but at a steep cost in other areas we won’t be able to improve.
I had the hope Davis would see the the need of more positions to be filled and find a team to trade down with to pick up a extra draft choice.
The odds of this happening are slim to none, never will happen not in His (Davis) DNA or past.
I like most of you have seen the draft as a cure for what ails our team, but what Davis said in the press conference was accurate, he sais “we our a year away from being a upper elite team that competes with any team’ I’m paraphrasing his words.
Finally as my day here has been crunching numbers one description must be meet by the players, they need to play for each other, and play hard with discipline, those characteristics with less talent is a winning formula everytime.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
My comment was a few days ago, with the schedule out will some of you experts stop predicting losses at the Coliseum, my time and travel will be more enjoyable if we would lose on the road only, and the Coliseum would sell out all the games.

GILBERT HOPING TO LEAP UP DRAFT BOARDS
Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 14, 2009, 2:51 p.m.
A self-described YouTube sensation based on his swimming pool leaping exploits, San Jose State defensive lineman Jarron Gilbert has become a viral hit with over 600,000 views of a 24-second video of him jumping out of a pool, according to Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Now, Gilbert is hoping to ascend NFL teams’ draft boards.
“One day our strength coach said Adam Archuleta could jump out of a pool, and everybody was super amazed,” Gilbert said. “I went out there one day — it wasn’t that big a deal to me — and I just went and jumped out of the pool. I found out that I could do it, so I put it on film to make everybody else believe me.”
Gilbert, who excelled in the East-West Shrine Game, has also drawn interest from the New York Jets and several other teams.
At 6′5,” 288 pounds, Gilbert has 4.76 speed in the 40-yard dash with a 37-inch vertical leap, a 10-7 broad jump and has squatted 635 pounds. Last season, he led the nation with 22 tackles for loses.
“Coming from San Jose, it’s a little harder, I think, to get the recognition,” Gilbert said. “But the film speaks for itself. Jumping out of the pool is cool and everything, but being a good player is a little more important than that.”

Nnamdi21 – Yeah. If Marshall was a Raider, the news would be saying thats typical Raider stuff and Marshall would have been suspended for a year by now.
==========================================
Yeah, same with Nick Kaczur. Why wasn’t this **** suspeneded, banned or punished by the League? Could it be because he plays for the Patriots or what?
http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2008/06/04/patriot_arrested_then_aids_drug_sting/
“Kaczur – a 28-year-old, 315-pound offensive tackle – wore a hidden recording device during three different drug transactions in May…At each of the three transactions, Kaczur paid $3,900 in cash to buy 100 OxyContin pills, a potent prescription pain reliever.”
“Grossberg said that, according to DEA documents presented to him before the indictment, Kaczur said he had begun buying OxyContin in November 2007 and purchased 100 pills every few days, paying tens of thousands of dollars over time.”
Far as I know, not one game suspended.

SPOILER ALERT AT CHARGERS.COM
Posted by Mike Florio on April 14, 2009, 10:47 p.m.
On one hand, we’re surprised that more teams haven’t already done this.
On the other hand, the strategy potentially has “epic fail” written all over it.
The Chargers plan to disclose each of their picks via Chargers.com before the picks are announced at the podium in New York — and thus before the pick is disclosed via ESPN or NFL Network.
We’re assuming that the Chargers have cleared the approach with the league office.
If they haven’t, this could get interesting.
What say you, PFT Planet? Should teams let the cat out of the bag via the Internet before the Commish or his designee make the walk to the microphone?

Buck Nord is a ranch in SJ, I once went horseback riding there.
I really like Cable and the way he thinks. I really like that he’swilling to try different things that he knows works. They aren’t some guy flying by the seat of his pants and yet he’s daring and aggressive. The vet coaches will give him a great start as a HC.
But he must stay true to himself and what he feels is right. The biggest thing that’s obvious to us all is that MBush is the feature back for this team. And it appears Big Al had to convince him of that.
Big Al has always loved big dominant backs and MBush can be one of the best we’ve ever had.
Trust me on this, Cable has surrounded Russell with everything he needs to get the talent ot of him all Russell has to do is follow their lead. And we’ll hae one of the most dominant QB’s in NFL history.

Raiders need to win early and often.
Games at Dallas, Steelers, Broncos, and Browns to finsih the season is not going to be easy.
Will the Raiders be able to go on the road and win in Dec.?
Then they finish the season against Ray-Ray and the Ravens!
5 out the last 6 games look like loses on paper with 4 of the first 7 looking like wins.
I am going between 8-8 and 6-10 this season unless Cable can find some players to stop the run.

The chargers at home on opening day could be a big win and a jump start on others within our division. That’s obvious.
The key to the win is that LT is no longer the threat he use to be, even if he comes back healthy. Additionally, history shows us that coach Norv Turner continues to go down hill with each additional year that he coaches a team.
So, with Turner at the helm in diegoville, the Chargers will be lucky to go 8 and 8.
Everything looks to be falling in place for a good year.
Go Raiders.
April 14th, 2009 at 11:47 pm
post 291 … RaiderfaninBroncoland:
Hey, that’s a positive. Nothing negative there. We could easily go 3 and 0 or at least 2 and 1. We get an early gauge on our divisional rivals and it puts the pressure on them. The Chiefs will have their problems again this year as they’re in the early stages of rebuilding and Tony Gonzalez has seen his best years…all behind him. The broncos have a new head coach and they’re rebuilding again and without Cutler, so they have big time problems. The chargers have to deal with a washed up LT and a “not so good” head coach in Turner. Relax dude, everything will be GOOD.

April 15th, 2009 at 5:57 am
I think we will see just how much the players will be ready 4 the dolts. That game will define the year, imo. How we win it or lose it will speak volumes about Cable

Dirt Lot, you guys park in A lot right? On 66th Ave side? I usually park in D on 66th. Because of that amplified music rule that went into effect last season, we no longer have the DJ by us. Do you guys have music by you guys?
April 15th, 2009 at 6:18 am
Of course 4eva. People come to the Colisseum on Sundays just to tailgate sometimes. In fact, we have people that come to meet us at the tailgate and then leave when the game is on.

I know Dirt Lot. It all depends on how I feel that Sunday because we will be back on the 2nd. I wanted to come back on the 3rd, but my wife didn’t want my son having jet lag on his first day back at school.
We should all meet up for that game then. Should be fun! Where is your tickets at Dirt Lot? I know you probably told me before, but probably 4got…? I’m in 130 across from the Black Hole.

April 15th, 2009 at 7:07 am
Very disruptive. Great motor, gets in the backfield and forces the RB to change direction. Lousy tackler though, needs to improve balance and stay under control when he gets into the backfield. Doesn’t seeem to have a move other than the bull-rush which won’t work in the pros. Needs a secondary pass rush move.

This guy says it all………No Raji

April 15th, 2009 at 7:34 am
Morning happy troll….
April 15th, 2009 at 7:38 am
well guys. looks like we have a good chance to finish the season winning 3 of our last 6 games – just like last year
April 15th, 2009 at 7:40 am
i think we’ll be 4-4 heading into the bye week. win our next 2 games and then finish up with a 9-7 record
April 15th, 2009 at 7:41 am
Good Morning Rockstar!
That would be cool, just hope that we win the first 3. That would really put an exclamation point to start the season!
April 15th, 2009 at 7:41 am
by the way, good morning AM crew!
just here for a brief moment. I got a meeting to run to sometime in the next 20 minutes
April 15th, 2009 at 7:43 am
Morning Lifer
April 15th, 2009 at 7:47 am
after reading all of Tom Cable’s comments yesterday I think the pick will either be Michael Crabtree (if available) or Andre Smith.
If both are gone we’ll try to trade down. If nobody wants to trade down we’ll take Oher or Raji …
Cable is obviously high on Crabs and Andre. Didn’t seem to give Maclin or Oher much thought. Acknowledged Raji is a good player and they didn’t care about his academic or weed issues of the past, but followed it up by saying Boschetti is an awesome run defender and that we have enough talent on the D-line.
April 15th, 2009 at 7:48 am
Rocker,
9-7 would be dope. But I have to ask. How many years in a row have you predicted a winning season?
April 15th, 2009 at 7:53 am
The last 6 years, Dude!
Rockstar, That is what I got from that article yesterday, too.
Anyways, have a great day Nation!!!
People out sick all week. Check back in later (or tomorrow).
Good Day to all!!!
April 15th, 2009 at 7:53 am
looks like (from reading Cable presser) we going with A. Smith or M. Oher at #7. Browns will nab Crabtree for sure now.
***
only if they trade Braylon Edwards. Rumor has it the Giants are interested.
Philly is interested in Boldin and Ocho Stinko

Morning Double R,
Ill take 9-7!!!
Ill really take 2-1 3-0 hell even 1-3 if we dominate the chargers!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 15th, 2009 at 7:56 am
Yo people,..getting ready to split to the coliseum, early game,..bringing my broom too of course.
April 15th, 2009 at 7:57 am
Now that it looks like Cleveland is sending Edwards to NY I now think the draft will go down like this:
Det-Stafford
STL-J. Smith
KC-Curry
Sea-Monroe
Clev-Crabtree
Cin-Orakpo
Oak-A. Smith

Morning OAKlifer. It’s just like the Raiders to beat a good team and follow it up with a loss to KC and/or Denver. I hope those days are behind us …
gotta admit though, Sandy Eggo has beat us 11 straight games. To start the season off with a win against them in front of the entire nation would be a huge accomplishment. That would get the monkey off our backs and do a lot for our confidence
April 15th, 2009 at 8:02 am
If I were the Raiders I would be on the phone to the Browns trying to one up the Giants offer for Braylon. The Raiders 2 is way higher than NY, they might just listen.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:02 am
9-7 gets the Raiders a Wild Card if not the AFC West.
I hope RaiderRockstar you are another Nostradamus.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:04 am
Double R,
Excatly and by proving last year we could beat Donks And KP going 1-3 then winning the later meetings with donks and kp would sure make me happy dnt get me wrongI= I want to own denver but not as bad as I want that damned eggo taste out my mouth!!!
April 15th, 2009 at 8:04 am
I dont think even a tried and true die hard optimist can possibly predict a Raider win vs SD on opening night. Been down that road too many times lately and it doesnt end up at Disneyland.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:06 am
Admitting it is the first step to recovery.

Dude: I tried being a realist, but it wasn’t much fun
At least i’m not one of those Raider fans who claim that guys in our division like Rivers, Tomlinson, Gates, Marshall, Royal, Scheffler, Johnson, Bowe and Gonzalez have no talent and don’t even present a challenge to our defense. Now THAT isn’t “being a fan”. That is being stupid. haha

DUUUUUDDDEEEEE!!!!! Braylon drops way to many passes man. He is not consistant at all. He is a hometown MI boy to so I am on his team but he complains way to much. I just can’t see Braylon helping us with the dollar he demands. You might as well call up Porter and bring him back. There style is the same. Some weeks they are great others they might as well took the day off. You don’t really want the duuuuuuude.

I just took a look at Jerry’s schedule predictions (http://www.ibabuzz.com/raidersblog/2009/04/10/putting-the-2009-season-in-order/):
1: prev. announced
2: @giants
3: chiefs
4: @browns
5: denver
6: @pitts
7: cincy
8: bye
9: @texans
10: ravens
11: @sd
12: prev. announced
13: philly
14: @denver
15: -jets
16: @chiefs
17: redskins
Other than the ones that were previously announced, there was not one that he guessed right.
They were all educated guess, but considering all the possible combinations, it’s not too suprising he didn’t get one right.
Jerry, Who’s going to be the Raiders pick?
April 15th, 2009 at 8:22 am
tear ‘em up Roskstar =)
April 15th, 2009 at 8:24 am
Sorry guys, just the way I see it…and that was my optimistic view…believe me, 8-8 will be hard to come by….unless we:
Draft Andre Smith in round one, Eric Woods/Unger in round 2 and the best DE/LB avail in round 3.
Unfortunately, it is more likely that we will draft WR round 1 and S round 2…then 8-8 will be a miracle.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:30 am
So we should be looking at the guys that were downplayed by Cable or not mentioned at all, right?
Or do you believe Cable will draft one of the 5 players he talked about in Crabtree or Oher?
Andre Smith will not be available when we pick Dakota, and you know it.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:33 am
Jhill, how do you know A. Smith will not be there at #7?
April 15th, 2009 at 8:34 am
yep fix da lines and POUND BUSH.We all love 2 POUND BUSH
April 15th, 2009 at 8:37 am
Cable said there are FOUR great tackles available at the top of the draft. one of ‘em will be there at #7.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:37 am

…………………….
I like it, but I would flip-flop the Texans and Redskins.
Raiders got over the hump last year against the Texans, but the Redskins will run Portis down our throats.
I also don’t see a sweep against KC. It just rarely happens.
Raiders are due a win against the Chargers.
So I guess I like the result, just flip-flopping a couple of games.
However, Dakota, this is a GOOD side prediction. This looks like it could be another 5-11 or 6-10 season with a few injuries.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:41 am
Anyway Im out,..sippin a beer here at 8:40 AM,…heading to the coliseum with my green and gold broom in hand,…will be in every face of red sux fan today,…cya!
April 15th, 2009 at 8:41 am
I would settle for Oher if A. Smith is off the board.
We simply must avoid the overrated WRs and LBs and that fat guy that was academically ineligible for a year, failed a drug test at the combine and has never played NT before; Raji.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:43 am
wait Norco Bob
April 15th, 2009 at 8:44 am
Four-OHH-Eight
April 15th, 2009 at 8:44 am
Come on now ladies. EVERYTHING being said right now is nothing more than smokescreen after smokescreen. I really dont think that PFT article really said much as far as the Eagles interest in Smith. I bet every team would say the same thing about the kid if asked. Seems like every year we all think we have it all figured out only to be put squarely in our place come draft day. As far as what Cable says, please dont try and tell me you think he has any say in who Al takes in rd 1. Al takes who he wants. Period. Been proven time and time again.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:45 am
Dakota,
The same way you know Curry will be gone at 3. I found the place where you bought the crystal balls.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:47 am
If A. Smith was on the board at #7 and we trade down with the Eagles for the 21st and 28th picks I would be pissed…unless of course we drafted :
Mack at 21
DHB at 28
Jamon Meredith at 40

*****Cable and Jerry cracks me up man**************
I would not pay any attention to Cable’s interview at all. He was talking out loud and really said nothing at all. It is like listening to Mel Kiper just talk about the positive side of the draft picks and not talk abouit the rankings you know what I mean? He did not say anything that any other coach has said. To Cable they all are great.
Cable and Jerry’s “super hero” interview continues:
Jerry: Coach Cable what do you think about Spiderman? Cable: Well, he is pretty amazing. He can really jump high, best jumper I ever seen!!!!
Jerry: Great, Great. Coach Cable what do you think about Superman?
Cable: He sure is super he s strong and can fly. You are getting two fro the price of one.
Jerry: What do you think about the Flash?
Cable: Fastest guy I ever saw, he really has a motor on him.
Do you see what I am saying? He pumped up the obvious. Don’t waste your timetrying to figure it out. We will know on game day.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:49 am
Norco,
Case of Pyramid against your case of Anchor Steam the Raiders DO NOT take Raji.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:49 am
More specifically, he’s the best OT in the draft Dakota.
I’d jump on him in a minute if he’s available at 7.
Same with Crabtree, Curry, Monroe, and Maulauga. I’ll bet anything that those 5 players will be pro bowlers out of this class.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:50 am
Mack at 21?
I can’t believe you are writing off Satele. I didn’t realize you were such a Parcells guy.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:53 am
DHB at 28
—————————————-
?????
I thought we should avoid WR?
April 15th, 2009 at 8:58 am
Someone still thinks theyr taking a C?
Yeah, they traded a mid rd pick for Satele so they could turn around and draft a center. Come on now.
April 15th, 2009 at 8:59 am
Ok, so power = Bush, huh? Is that what Cable is pushing now? His first answer was more 2 TE sets.
Ok, I’ll buy that we are going to now see more Bush than Fargas. But I will also add that if McFadden is our new 3rd WR, then there is really no room for Crabtree, right?
April 15th, 2009 at 9:05 am
You saying Crabtree is NOT better than Walker, JLH or Chaz?
April 15th, 2009 at 9:07 am
Good morning.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:09 am
the Lions are looking at Ronald Curry .perfect fit
April 15th, 2009 at 9:09 am
Not saying that at all.
But essentially changing McFadden’s # to 89 eliminates the need for a playmaker at WR.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:10 am
Wassup O!
April 15th, 2009 at 9:10 am
If Crabs is on the board we gotta go w/ him he’s just a flat out stud. I’m all about having a nasty D but Crabtree is not a guy that comes around all the time and hopefully we won’t have such a high pick again any time soon. We can get Brace w/ the 2nd pick who is a load and whoever doesn’t think he got double teamed just look at Raji highlights. Moala if Brace isn’t there who is quick enough to play base end but has the frame/athleticism to add 20 lbs and be a stud NT. 3rd and 4th gotta get best LB and S on the board. If Crabs isn’t there at 3 trade back and get USC lb w/ 1st pick and Brace or Moala w/ 2nd pick. In this scenario I say just go w/ the receivers we got as the rest of the WR’s aren’t enough of an upgrade to go WR over D
April 15th, 2009 at 9:14 am
WTF are Seattle and Cleveland going to do?
I just can’t see Sanchez dropping past Cleveland, and he might not make it past 3. Would anyone be surprised to see a deal between KC and Denver for that #3 pick?
April 15th, 2009 at 9:14 am
The Eagles want A Smith, so make the Trade Al.
With their 2 1st RD pick, we get OT Michael O, and WR DHB.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:14 am
Ummm…. not even sure how to respond to that. McFadden by himself doesnt make the WRs good enough. Be nice to have a legit number 1 AND McFadden as recieving threats.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:15 am
Jhill,
We should avoid a WR with the picks we currently have, but if we add an additional pick in a trade with the Eagles then of course we should address WR.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:15 am
Getting Mc Fadden and Bush on the field together makes the offense more versatile with the run or pass option.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:17 am
JHill,
Are the 4 OTs Cable spoke of, the same as the top 4 players he likes??
I think so.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:18 am
Det – Stafford
Rams – Andre Smith
Den – Sanchez
Sea – Eugene Monroe
Cle – Crabtree
Cincy – Jason Smith
Oak – Curry
April 15th, 2009 at 9:18 am
RaiderO,
Does it matter who Cable likes?
April 15th, 2009 at 9:20 am
I have a feeling someone will disrupt the draft with a blockbuster trade or deal that changes the thinking of a lot of teams.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:20 am
I’m so confused now about our draft.
Is it going to be OT, DE, WR, DT, or a trade???
I can’t stop thinking about it.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:22 am
Dude,
Yes it does, but The final word is Al’s.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:25 am
Nah. Cables opinion on the draft, the first round at least, means as much as past coaches: ZERO.
If you dont know that, you just havent been paying attention.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:25 am
I understand what you are saying Dude …
I just think there are other holes that need to be filled before we add 2 bodies at WR. If we were still looking at McFadden getting 20-25 carries, then yeah we need a Crabtree. But if McFadden will instead get 10 balls thrown his way, in addition to Miller, JLH, and Schillens getting 5 looks or so a game, then I think we can go in a different direction.
Besides, I think he’ll be gone when we pick.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:26 am
Do you agree?
April 15th, 2009 at 9:27 am
Jhill,
Now Cleveland might take Sanchez? The Browns are giving up on Brady Quinn after spending 2 first round picks on him and only giving him three starts? And I thought the Raiders fans bashing Russell after one year of starting were dumb. Hey, they are the Browns, so I guess it could be true.
Sanchez might go at 8…if he is lucky. If I was the Raiders I would certainly discuss the possibility of trading down to the Broncos, allowing them to pick up Sanchez at #7 for the #12 pick and the #48 pick.
But, the idea of Al trading down from the top of the draft just doesn’t seem realistic. We can always hope.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:28 am
There are too many holes not to trade down and there is more value in the middle to end of the 1st rnd. I don’t see the # 7 pick filling our total needs. We need more picks.

LMN
good looking out on the 408….
April 15th, 2009 at 9:30 am
yep my head is spinning about the draft and its myriad possibilities
April 15th, 2009 at 9:31 am
Dude,
So we disagree, what else is new? lol
Al listened to his coaches before.
The Kittin traded Moss, and Gruden did a lot of what he liked.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:32 am
JHill,
Are the 4 OTs Cable spoke of, the same as the top 4 players he likes??
I think so.
——————————————————
May very well be.
But WTF does Cable mean by Mario Henderson ain’t goin nowhere?
Is Barnes willing to play RT?
Those are two huge questions to answer.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:32 am
DMAC is a rb, not a reciever. For a rb to be effective in the passing game there has to be another threat out there that the defense has to account for. Otherwise the rb is gonna get neutralized by double teams or sticking a corner on him because simply put: Chaz, Walker and JLH dont scare anybody.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:34 am
Jhill,
Raiders Coaches attended DHB’s pro day. I think the Trade with the Eagles could happen, if A Smith was there at 7.

Ummm yhea and with denver…..never happen
April 15th, 2009 at 9:35 am
Dakota,
I was reading the other day that Quinn was on the blocks and Cleve already had an offer of at least a #1.
And we all know Anderson is not the guy.
It’s not that big of a stretch for Mangini to know that Quinn sucks, and will never be shyt!
April 15th, 2009 at 9:35 am
Come on now boss, Gruden had to sit up and rationalize the Janikowski pick. Your tellin me that was a Gruden choice? If a T is taken at 7 then I will possibly jump to your side untill then I will stick with the norm.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:37 am
3 starts and it is obvious that Quinn sucks? lol okay.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:38 am
I thought Barnes was there to play RT, or compete with Mario at LT. When you listen to Barnes, it sounds as if his the starting LT.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:38 am
Duuuude,Chaz and JLH are gonna light it up this year, just wait and see
April 15th, 2009 at 9:38 am
I really Like D.A. “watched him in highschool but IMHO i think quinn is better he will be fine if he goes somewhere with a good supporting cast…he won in ND and they suck…..I think he and sanchez are on the same plain….
April 15th, 2009 at 9:39 am
I love Zach Miller but he’s not Tony Gonzalez or Antonio Gates. Phillip Rivers has Chambers in addition to Gates and we need a go to receiver in addition to Miller. We can still get a starting NT, LB, and S with picks 2 – 4 to go along w/ a scary O instead of having a scary D and no WR that commands any respect besides Miller
April 15th, 2009 at 9:39 am
Denver will draft defense for sure and wait to see how Orton pans out before taking a QB in the 1st.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:39 am
You know Anderson isnt the guy, but its not fair to say that about Russell? DA has put up big numbers in this league before and anyone who has watched him can see he is a good player.
Its rational to judge Quinn but NOT Russell??
April 15th, 2009 at 9:41 am
Dude,
Why look at 1 pick? What about O lineman Matt S? That was a Gruden pick, he even played for Gruden at Tampa.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:42 am
Dude, which team do you support and why are you not on one of their fan sites?
April 15th, 2009 at 9:43 am
Tui was a Gruden pick. ugh
April 15th, 2009 at 9:46 am
Ok RaiderO, we will just have to agree to disagree.
Dakota,
Explain to me why I am not a Raider fan. I would love to hear it.
Lynn,
Tui was definitely a Gruden pick, although Al does like UW guys.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:51 am
Dude, so you are a Raiders fan? yes or no
April 15th, 2009 at 9:55 am
Since I was 7 years old, yes. If you asked me if I was a Kool Aid drinkn, Al Davis is God, every Raider is a HOFer Raider fan. The answer would be no.
April 15th, 2009 at 9:58 am
Dude,
I don’t completely disagree with you sir. I agree that the final word is Al’s, buy ever now and then he listens to his coaches if he likes them. It’s not Often that Al likes his coaches.
April 15th, 2009 at 10:02 am
I’m a Kookaide Drinker, I think Al is Great but makes mistakes, not every Raider is a HOF, and I think we can make the PO every year. lol
April 15th, 2009 at 10:25 am
Whatever happened to that MR D-U-D-E
