And he just gave KC all the props for taking Jackson at 3 even though he admits he could have got him at 12.

Not so sure what the difference is between them taking Jackson and us taking DHB.

Oh yeah, we’re the team everyone loves to hate on.

But Pioli and Belechick can do no wrong.

People criticize DHBs lack of production at Maryland, but coming into the season, he was the nunber 2 rated WR in a lot of college preseason publications, including Phil Steeles. What people dont see is the fact that beside Maryland being a run first team and having a trash QB, DHB was often double, and yes, TRIPLE teamed. I never saw Crabtree triple teamed in the spread. Its the ACC, not the Big XII. Lets not forget, Calvin Johnson had a game where he was completely shut out his senior year at GT. Did this mean he wasnt productive? Of course not. Just means defenses knew who to focus on. Now think about that. If we can get teams to be forced to double DHB or focus extra attention on him, imagine what that does for the rest of our O. Its almost like how people say Reggie Bush isnt productive as a RB, but you better believe, without Bush as a decoy, the Saints offense wouldnt be nearly as effective, as evidenced by their lack of production in games where he was hurt. DHB is gonna do a lot for our O. Time to get over the fact that we didnt get “value” at the pick. Even if his numbers dont show it on paper next year, he is gonna open up our O a whole lot. As for Mitchell, forget about it. Hes a monster and if we didnt get him, the Bears would at 49, so F Mel Kipers Draft Guide. These are guys who are gonna work hard and contribute, even if not statistically while Crabtree is nursing his injury still and blaming his lack of separation from NFL cbs on someone else other than himself.

    Nooooo, why not Meredith!!!!

i thought Al promised Barnes not to draft Oline in the 1st.. not the entire draft???

  40. Scottish Raider Says:

SI had Shaughnessy ranked as a 3rd rounder – so he isn’t a ridiculous reach and, if he can stay healthy, he has some upside.

Guess that seals the Burgess trade?

  41. South FLA Raider Says:

    Matt Shaughnessy (DE)

    Analysis
Positives: Has the length to gain the edge off the line. Defeats cut blocks with his hands and presents trouble for quarterbacks trying to get a pass over his extended arms. Better than expected at holding his ground on running plays despite his build. Can rip off his man to get into the backfield or get off blocks to wrap up ballcarriers coming through the hole.

Negatives: Lacks explosion and doesn’t seem to beat any offensive tackle off the snap. Gets pushed aside by stronger right tackles when lined up on the right side, where he played as a junior due to a lack of team depth. Only adequate in changing direction when standing up, and takes time to accelerate, making it harder for him to corral quick players on the edge.

Compares To: JOHN ENGELBERGER, ex Denver — Shaughnessy needs to be in the right system, one in which he doesn’t have to worry about gap penetration and just play out on the edge. With that reach of his, combined with good leaping ability, he can create problems for shorter passers trying to get the ball over the defender’s head. He needs to add more bulk and improve his lower-body strength before he can contribute as part of a defensive rotation.

The Bengals basically had the draft I wish we had.

  45. r8rpaver Says:

Hay O i think it was a bad time to stop drinking….im going back to sniffing glue…because thats what are football team is doing in the war room

  46. NoMoreFargas Says:

Oh snap we got the next John Engelberger well here we come super bowl!

  47. Bob Marley Says:

POSITIVES: Athletic pass rusher who easily moves about the field. Plays with excellent pad level, knee bend, and works his hands throughout the action. Immediately locates the ball, collapses from the outside, defending the run and keeps his feet driving up the field on contact. Shows skill dropping off the line of scrimmage on zone blitzes, and makes a lot of athletic plays. Fast off the edge and shows ability in pursuit.

NEGATIVES: Easily blocked at the point or slowed up by a single lineman. Can be a liability against the run. Struggled as a senior after his injury during spring practice.

ANALYSIS: Shaughnessy is a tall, fast edge rusher who shows the ability to make a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage. He offers growth potential and a good degree of upside for the next level if he remains healthy and gets his game back on track.

    PROJECTION: Third Round

  48. La Milicia Negra Says:

we should ahve gone with Antoine Caldwell… why not upgrade our O-line, what good does it to have a guy like DHB when Russell is on his back?

  49. NoMoreFargas Says:

Cable said if shanghnessy played in Usc d he would have hade 20 sacks!

True, but you look at the game against Clemson. 0 catches, doubled the whole game, still had a 76 yd TD run. Also, look at the BC game. DHB was doubled all game, opened up the passing game. Turner passed for 360 yards to other receivers because BC was focused on DHB heavy. Maryland was a big underdog that game and almost won. DHB was a big factor, even without catches.

  58. GhostRaider Says:

I beleive the Raiders plan this offseason was to save money. Slow the F/A moves and draft player you can sign cheap. Players who didn’t think it was nessassary to hire an agent & were waiting for the rookie F/A period to do so. Maybe Al expects this is his last year and wants to do his best to make sure the Raiders have little or no chance of success when he is gone.
