Tom Cable Day 2 Q&A
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, April 26th, 2009 at 6:17 pm in Oakland Raiders.
A transcript from Tom Cable’s press conference Sunday following Day 2 of the NFL Draft:
Cable: Just to talk a little bit about Day 2, it started with Matt Shaughnessy, a defensive end from Wisconsin, we needed a guy that gives us something like Trevor Scott, that type of guy, but a little more size, and we feel good about that. Louis Murphy, we thought, would have been gone by then. The first question you’ll probably ask me is he played in spread system, yes he did. But always as an outside receiver, so he’s more apt to make the transition in to the pro system. Slade Norris has been at linebacker and played at rush end the last two years at Oregon State. We’re going to stand him up and play him at the SAM linebacker spot. Stryker Sulak was an end also, but also a linebacker in their system, depending on how they played certain teams he would be an inside linebacker, he’d be an edge linebacker, put his hand on the ground and be a defensive end as a pass rusher. So again, we’ll stand him up to start, at the linebacker spot. And then the last one, was a guy that I really felt we had to have, this was the last piece to those four I talked about earlier in the year, that we had to have the tight end that really had some physicalness to him so we could take some of that away from Zach Miller and use him in the passing game a little bit more. Overall, like every coach says, I’m very pleased, what we did, who we got and who we’re bringing in here.
Q: Was it Myers you wanted or just the position?
Cable:I t was Myers. There was two guys on there, Pascoe and Myers, and Pascoe went just before. So, either way, whichever one fell to us we were going to go after and get it.
Q: How does Shaughnessy stand out, more like Richardson or Scott?
Cable: You look at a guy who I think has 48 starts at Wisconsin. He’s been on a number of successful teams. A little more size than Trevor, not as big as Jay, so somewhere in between there. But I like the motor, I like what I got out of him. If you look at the East-West game he really was productive in that all star game, and then just his numbers, playing that much in that league, at that school, is a pretty good accomplishment.
Q: Not a lot of depth at guard, no o-linemen drafted, a reason for that?
Cable: Well, as I mentioned, we kind of went into it talking about the offensive line, you know, for a purpose, really because we had signed Khalif Barnes, Erik Pears, at tackle, and then obviously the trade, which was huge, if you look at the value of that sixth pick, today, that’s a tremendous gift for us. That’s a great trade. Getting Samson traded, getting us the depth there, we’re in good shape. The depth at guard, Cooper, Robert, Paul McQuistan would be the third guy in there, and then you’ve got some other guys that we’ve put in there. I’m trying to think of the names right now. Mark Wilson would be a guy who is cleared now and has come back from the ankle fracture.
Q: Were you intent on getting another receiver, or just couldn’t pass up Murphy?
Cable: Just could not pass him up. Could not pass him up.
Q: Does this young group of receivers have a veteran leader?
Cable: Yeah, that’s a good point. Javon would clearly be the veteran in the group. What we did was we raised the bar at that position, dramatically. And now we’ve got great competition. Can we overcome some of the youthfulness and all that? Probably not, but I think that’s the least of our worries right now, just in terms of getting more production there and better players there.”
Q: Sulak is known for being overly aggressive, is that a concern in terms of penalties?
Cable: None at all. The Raiders need that again. We need more of that. With some discipline along. You can’t be crazy, but you need that attitude.
Q: Would you look at existing veteran free-agent wide receivers?
Cable: You know, I think at this point probably not, because I like the group now. Very satisfied. Did not think Murphy would be there. Had Murphy not been there, that was definitely an option. But now you’ve created, again, another talented guy that can really run. Probably don’t need to do it yet.
Q: A challenge for up/down hybrids to become full-time stand-up guys?
Cable: You’re seeing more and more of that out of the 4-3 teams. That Sam or Will linebacker that on third down’s putting his hand on the ground. We actually did a little study. There’s a tremendous amount of guys that are making that transition, standing up on first and second down and putting their hand down on third. That’s really all over the league now, and some of the very good pass rushers are like that.
Q: Have you done enough to address the issues in run defense?
Cable: We did. First of all, kind of a two-part question there. The run game is kind of addressed a couple of ways. I think that we’ve gotta coach better and clean up some things in terms of what we’re doing, system-wise. I think we’ve addressed that by the coaching staff we’ve hired. And then we’ve got to get better at the linebacker spot. And when I say better, I mean more depth there. That’s really a key for us. You look what happens who we lose a guy, and then we kind of have to piecemeal it together. So this gives us a chance to not have that issue. Mitchell definitely upgrades us if any of you have taken the time to look at him now and see what he is physically. We feel a lot better about it. So we’ve got some good tackles on this football team. They’ve gotta play like it.
Q: Which of the five could play on special teams?
Cable: Actually all five guys we drafted today that was part of it. It’s a great question and that was part of it. My belief in the whole thing was what was their special teams value. You get on the phone with a Louis Murphy and tell him you want to pick him and be an Oakland Raider and the first thing he wanted to know is what is the strength coach’s phone number and can I get on special teams. That’s a great thing. We knew that about him. They all had that characteristic in there. It plays a big role, definitely.
Q: How would you assess how your plan worked out, better than hoped?
Cable: It did. The one thing we had to do was get about three, four key players in free agency and we’re actually stared on that already. When we get done here I’ll go get involved in that. That’s really a key thing for us. I still think we need to find a fullback, maybe another tight end, defensive tackle. Those things jump at me right away. In terms of addressing that in the draft, in some ways we did other than the fullback and the defensive tackle thing but those weren’t priority draft things. They were there if we could do it late, if the right guy was there. If not, we’d go to priority free agents.
Q: So those weren’t part of the four things you need?
Cable: The defensive end definitely was, the receivers were as you knew, the safety was and the tight end. Those were really the keys so we got that done.
Q: These guys seem like good character guys, what happened to the Raiders tradition of castoffs, misfits, etc. . .
Cable: Very much so. If you remember back to week 10, maybe it was week nine
I think. I made a statement to the media team after having a team meeting with just the team and I, the players and I, no coaches, no one else in here and we talked about that issue. If you want to start
winning, if you want to change things around here then the BS has to stop. You have to start living and playing with honor and that means doing things right, with discipline and being selfless. I thought we really took to that the last six weeks and I see it in the offseason program. That’s who I am. I don’t want to do that and inherit a bunch of craziness. At the same time, men are men, boys are boys and they do there things. But I don’t want to bring someone in here that I thought was crazy, that couldn’t fit, that was about him. He had to be about the team. He had to ask me on the phone after we picked him if he could play on special teams. Those kinds of things were really important to me.
Q: Did you mean you’re going to bring in undrafted free agents or veteran free agents?
Cable: It could be both, absoulely. It could be both.
Q: What position is Marcus Johnson going to play?
Cable: Offensive lineman. He’s playing guard.
Q: What do you make of the reports criticizing your picks?
Cable: Well, the first thing you have to know about me is, I don’t need to stand up and beat my chest and say, ‘The hell with everyone.’ I’m going to probably take a statement, if you will, from Bill Walsh. When you find a player you want, go get him. Don’t worry about it. Go get him. And that’s what I did. I’ll take the heat for that. We’ve since had people coming back apologizing, turning on film and saying, ‘Oh, my god, well this guy was going to Chicago, and they admitted that they were going to take him at 49. So, it makes some people look pretty foolish now. But, the bottom line is, I kind of live by that statement from coach Walsh. When you find the one you want, go get it. Don’t let anyone detract you and don’t worry about what they say.
Q: Does it matter much that a player such as Murphy played for a winning team?
Cable: Yeah, that’s a huge point. If you look at every one of these kids. Heyward-Bey kind of up and down but enough you need to say he had a winning record in college. Mike Mitchell won. Shaughnessy won. Mike Mitchell is part of turning around a program that used to be very poor at the University of Ohio. Shaughnessy won a lot of game. Louis Murphy, who we’re talking about directly here, has won two national championships. Not only did he feel like I didn’t have to be the guy but he was also a team captain. So, those qualities you’re talking about. Slade Norris, that program has really taken off in the last few years, that’s doing well at Oregon State. Stryker Sulak, Missouri. That speaks for itself what they’ve been doing lately. Then you look at Brandon Myers. Iowa has consistently been there. They had a couple years prior to this year that were a little up and down. But all of these kids are winners and all of t hem come with leadership and a number of them having been captains.
Q: Did you have any interest or talks regarding Anquan Boldin or Braylon Edwards?
Cable: We did not.
Q: People would call DHB and Mitchell classic size-speed-weight Al Davis picks. Are they Cable picks too? Did you two sell each other on picks?
Cable: We actually had a plan early that we would go out and kind of target the first couple of rounds separately and see where we’re at. The thing was we had one wanted in the first and that was Darrius without question. And two, we both had the same two guys. And it was the same position, we knew who they were, we knew what we wanted to do. So when they both hit it really was kind of unique because we had agreed that’s where we were at. Very much together in it and the rest kind of took care of itself. I think when you look at the draft, the characteristics of the player, athletically, size, speed numbers and all that. Certainly those are Oakland raider numbers, Al davis numbers and all that. At the same time the other things that go with it, my name’s right there with it.
Q: Are some of these players similar to the guys you have?
Cable: Yeah, I think one of the things that sold me on Mike was the fact that I love Tyvon. And I watched him play before he got hurt last year and being a gunner on special teams and his play on defense and said you know what, I want another one like that. I like that so much I want another one. And he got hurt and we missed it. And so I know think what you did is you made yourself better. You’ve got two guys like Tyvon. Again you did nothing but get better. And having been around that last year I really gained fondness for what he’s capable of and what he brought to the table. The great thing about Tyvon is his attitude and how he plays and how he works in the weight room and out on the field. He challenges people in a respectful way. He’s really good.
Q: Is Murphy anything like Schillens?
Cable: They’re similar really because they’re big guys that can run. Yeah. Does the height, weight speed thing fit the raiders thing, absolutely. Does this guy with all those things we just talked about, the championships, the captain, the ability to make plays. Being the outside receiver in a spread offense system which is conducive to coming to pro football. All those things add up. Yeah, maybe there is a comparison.
Q: How were things different for you this year as head coach? A fun experience?
Cable: it was. There some times, the trade with New England to get where we wanted to be to position ourselves. We held on to that second four, got a pick out of it. Carolina was willing to deal with us at the end. Those are kind of tense moments you know leading up to it. Especially day 2 because you’re time is shorter on the clock. But I dig that stuff. I think it’s cool. I liked it. I just think there was a Plan A, Plan B, however it was going to go to make the deal. We were fortunate people worked with us so it was good.
Q: How did you come up with your draft day style?
Cable: We do things here I think in a certain way. I think there’s a lot of fact to that. Whether you want to call it the Al Davis way, the Oakland raider way, it’s our way and one of the things that I’ve learned being here two years prior was the more you do diligence as an assistant coaching staff, the more you get every I dotted, T crossed, and you find and you look and background check and go get some more and find even more. The more you do that, the smoother it is through the process. And that’s what we did and I thought the staff did a great job. I thought the scouts, we were on with them, they were on with us, that’s what really got me excited. We really connected this year and everything worked. We had a plan and we stuck to the plan and we got who we needed to get.
Q: Was it the least contentious draft since you got here?
Cable: Aw come on now, we had fun today and yesterday, that’s the way drafts are supposed to be. There’s heated moments, you’re competing against 31 other teams to make your team better so I’m not going to go there. It’s what it’s supposed to be David.
Q: Seahawks went to Super Bowl with john Marshall defense, what does he bring here?
Cable: There’s two things I mention when I hired him and the reason I hired those guys on defense. One, they’ve been a part of building something, which you just mentioned. They’ve all been a part of playing and coaching and winning Super Bowls. They’ve also lost Super Bowls but they’ve also been to the top of the mountain. I just felt like the experience of all that is what this football team needs. We’ve got some good players. I’m not going to change my deal on that. We’ve got good players. Do we need more? Always, that’s what we’ve been doing the last two days. But they got to put them in the right place, teach them how to do it the right way then get the hell out of the way and let them play and that’s really what my plan was and it’s coming together as I see it.
Q: How different will passing game be with all these young guys?
Cable: I think it’s going to be night and day. Now, does that mean we’re going to be a top-20, top-15, what I’m hoping for? Yeah, we will. When? I’m not sure. But I look at it now and I see, you know what? We can attack you all over the field now. We’ve got guys who can catch and make a play somewhere, they can beat press coverage, they can get up top and run away. So I look at that and I just feel like with Johnnie and Chaz and the improvement those guys made, particularly at the end of the year last year, and add these two new guys in and see if we can get Javon Walker healthy, find out about Arman Shields, what does he bring to the table. You start looking at it and, you know what? We raised the bar. We now have a group at that position that can go out and compete and we’re going to have some pretty high competition at that spot.
All right, thank you.

I understand the injury concern to a degree about the DE, but he played last year. Could have been a 2nd rd pick.
I don’t get the hating on him.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
Darry Beck with and Dannell Elerbee went undrafted? Shocking. The Raiders need to jump on at least one of those guys. Jon Cooper, C, Oklahoma would be another good signing.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
Overall, like every coach says, I’m very pleased, what we did, who we got and who we’re bringing in here.

Darry Beckwith.

Do you think while in the war room, they try to come up with a statement to counter all the skepticism that they receive with their picks? A la Heyward-Bey and Mitchell?

Thank goodness, a Paul McQ sighting. I like the big red head, and I hope he beats out Carlilse.

“So we’ve got some good tackles on this football team. They’ve gotta play like it.”
If they haven’t played like it for several years and a couple of huge contracts then they’re not going to start now. Agian we will be one fo the worst teams in the league at stopping the run.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:25 pm

Don’t worry about it Cable guy! Thanks for the clues as to who will be cut.

Tell em again Cable!
Our LBing HAS to be upgraded.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
The Raiders can’t win as long as Al Davis is undercutting them.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
It’s too hard to overcome NFL defenses, and Al Davis too.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
I have to say, hearing cable talk in interviews, and reading the transcripts of press conferences really makes you want to go to work for him. He’s definitley has a motivational quality about him.
Now if he can combine that with good decision making (no more fake globetrotter field goals please), he could become a very good coach.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
“And then we’ve got to get better at the linebacker spot.”
And you didn’t see Rey in the LB spot when you had the chance to fight tooth and nail for him? Granted, Cable said his peace and I gotta go along with it but that’s one I’ll always question.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
Some guys the Raiders should consider signing:
– Darry Beckwith, LB, LSU
– Dannell Ellerbee, LB, Georgia
– Jeremy Navarre, DE, Maryland
– Ian Johnson, RB, Boise State
– Brannan Southerland, FB, Georgia
– Greg Carr, WR, Florida State
– Quan Cosby, WR, Texas
– Darius Passmore, WR, Marshall
– Jon Cooper, C, Oklahoma
– Dallas Reynolds, C, BYU
– Derek Pegues, DB, Mississippi State
– CJ Spillman, S, Marshall

If we could only get competent management!!!!!!
April 26th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
Cable is such a f’n stooge. How in the hell does a guy who coaches a team who has set NFL records for futility stand at a podium and talk about the “Raider Way” and ” Raider type player” and so on and so forth. Newsflash genious, the “Raider Way” doesnt work!! How can he be so blind to the fact that he and the organization he coaches for is the running joke of the sports world?
April 26th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
my favorite part on the Cable transcripts, If Murphy can fit our system and make plays, could take over the #2 slot with DHB as the #1 with Chaz fighting for the 3rd WR next year.
*Cable: Actually all five guys we drafted today that was part of it. You get on the phone with a Louis Murphy and tell him you want to pick him and be an Oakland Raider and the first thing he wanted to know is what is the strength coach’s phone number and can I

April 26th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
Okay so I had to let the draft end, and really myself to cool down before I started posting. I was more than angry with the crap the Raiders pulled this weekend. I just don’t see how you pick DHB with Raji, Monroe, Crabtree, Orakpo and Maclin on the board. To me this guy has Troy Williamson/Charles Rodgers written all over him. I hope I am wrong because I want my team to do well but you can only be so hopeful when the facts are blaring at you. How the hell do you take a WR at #7 with bad hands? Just don’t get it. Mitchell seems like he might be the best of this draft, I see him actually starting or playing significantly as a rookie. The rest of the picks though were straight garbage, Jasper Brinkley was on the board until deep in the 5th and we passed him up for projects and back up OLB’s. Jamon Meredith was available too at tackle and we passed him up for the same garbage players. I just don’t get it. This was a sad weekend for me as a Raider fan, I really felt we were turning a corner and Al had changed. Absolutely kills me that my son can’t see the dominent teams thats I grew up watching, instead he grows up to the crap of the last 6 years (he is 8 and loves football) but how do you try to convince him of the greatness of the Raiders when everyone else is beating the crap out of them every year.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
Cam Inman had an interesting take on Crabtree in his column about he draft today that kind of just sums it up:
“He also doesn’t have a spread offense and the Big 12’s horrific defenses to exploit. Case in point: Former Oklahoma State star Rashaun Woods, the 49ers’ 2004 first-round pick who produced a Big 12-record 42 touchdown catches. Woods had only one touchdown reception in the NFL and never played a snap outside of his rookie season.”
Note that those 42 catches are one more than what Crabtree has!

- That’s exactly what John Marshall did with Julian Peterson in Seattle, he would play LB on 1st and 2nd down and move all over the line on 3rd downs to create mismatches.
I had been thinking that’s what they were going to do with Trevor Scott, but if he can become a full-time DE, drafting Norris and Sulak to try and fill that role makes sense.

You would think that after this weekend you would have better things to do then throw around childish insults. Al Davis just bent our team and our dreams over the barrel and unleashed on us, I think it’s time for us fans to come together cause at this point it’s going to be another rough season.

JHill,
At least Cable acknowledged that those “guys” at DT have to play better. At least they are not done looking for some help.
Okay…seriously, I am cool with this…..for now……I will give those guys another chance.
At least its not a blind optimism. They realize those guys have to get their sh&&&& together and the coaches are on the hook to get that done.
Be interesting to see if they can get that guy from Hampton in here.
Also, looks like they drafted two backup linebackers…okay…still might get some help at DE.
I am cautions optimistic they believe in what they are doing.

Exactly, when you can’t produce pro bowlers w/ your draft picks you are doing something wrong. Maybe Davis didn’t get the memo or maybe he is so senile he doesn’t realize what’s happening during the games or how bad the players are doing.

DMunoz,
The “Douche” was just habit. Seriously tho, I have never seen such incompetence and ignorant behavior in all my life like I saw this weekend with the Raiders draft. I seriously think this has all the makings of the worst draft in Raider history. It just seems to get worse EVERY year.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
I am okay with the players picked on the first day. Let’s go with it and put a plan together that is workable….no passing plays without a checkdown option…that sort of stuff.
Glad to hear that Schilens and JLH are still held in high regard. Still don’t know how Walker fits into all of this.
I hope Schilens can beat out Walker and the they roll with DHB and Schilens on the outside.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
I like cable, and this draft was descent.
I didn’t like the Norris pick, but the others are good.
I give this draft a C+ or B-
We didn’t get a DT, so it’s a descent draft but not great. IMO
I like the 2 WRs, and The DEs.
Im a Mitchell fan, so it’s a descent draft.
April 26th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
Hey, what happens to Michael Huff?
April 26th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
Well, we were always two years out from being seriously competitive. A solid draft next season can still turn things around.
The thing that worries me is that JaMarcus still doesn’t have a possession WR that he can trust. Now his development is completely in the hands of the coaching staff. And even that depends on Russell’s work ethic.
I don’t doubt that the guys we drafted can fill roles – some of these guys might turn out to be successful projects. But they’re just that – projects. Outside of Mitchell (and even then, taking him in the second round is questionable), we neglected to select any true standout athletes.

***************************************************
The Mitchell criticism has been completely refuted. He would have been selected two picks later by Chicago. As for DHB, if they thought in their estimation, which they obviously did, that he was the better prospect then they should pick him and not someone who they though would not be as good for them. Yea, if there was anyone there giving them the chance to trade down a few spots and then get him that would have been the way to go, but once Sanchez was off the board nobody wanted to trade up.

Dude
I seriously felt we were turning a corner prior to the first pick, when they announced the pick I turned off the TV. It literally just made me sick to my stomach that with Monroe, Crabtree, Raji, Orakpo, and Maclin hell even Rey would have been a better damn pick at 7. It was just a sad realization that I am going to be getting sent back to Afghanistan again and not even having the hopes of my Raiders starting to compete again. Seriously last year that was a big thing to get my by was that they started showing progress, but after that draft it really just made me very sad to know I got nothing to look forward to.

I love how Chris Carter’s opinion on DHB has no credibility an he is nothing but a “hater” for smacking the Raiders for reaching for a sprinter at number 7. Yeah, cause Chris Carter wouldnt know anything about WRs………..

You know what? It really does suck to have nothing to look forward to come Sept. Especially in your case being in such a pleasant place. Do you at least have a college team thats decent?

First round- Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR.
I am so glad Al decided to take the speed demon, but I am especially happy with this pick because he also took a great character guy. He will effectively spread the field, opening all kinds of opportunities for everyone else on the offense. Heyard-Bey has suspect hands, but that can be fixed. You can’t teach a 4.3 40-meter time and he also is a two-time Biltnikoff Award finalist.
Second round- Michael Mitchell, S.
Besides the name, I love the way this guy plays. If he can come in and steal a starting spot, he will add a level of physicality that this defense was missing. At 221 pounds, a height at 6′2″, and a 40 time of 4.43, he will be a real banger. In his senior season at Ohio University, he recorded 62 tackles, 3 interceptions, and a sack.
Third round- Matt Shaugnessy, DE
I’ve never heard of this guy, but he’s an interesting prospect. With 29 solo tackles, 60 total tackles, and four sacks, he might be able to sneak into a starting job if Burgess is traded.
Fourth round- Louis Murphy, WR
This by far my favorite late pick. He was a captain for the National Champion Florida Gators, he led the team in receiving yards with 655 (Gators do a lot of reverses and options, so they don’t actually throw that much), was second on the team in receptions with 38, and had seven touchdowns. He may be a starter or a good situational player at the least. I have no idea how he fell into the fourth round, but I sure am glad…
Fourth round- Slade Norris, LB
With 19 sacks in his final two years at Oregon State, Norris is a great value pick. He could be effective in third down situations.
Sixth round- Stryer Sulak, DE/LB
I think this is the steal of the draft. He is a three-time All Big-12 honoree and as a senior, he recorded:
- 55 tackles, 15.5 for a loss.
- 10.5 sacks
-led the NCAA with six forced fumbles.
However, Sulak is a tweener at 6′5″ and only 250 pounds, so either he can bulk up and play DE or he will stay where he’s at and attempt to get a starting role. Unfortunately, he might just end up on special teams.
6th round- Brandon Myers, TE
All Big-Ten TE, who accumulated 34 receptions and 441 yards. Also tied for the most TDs with four. Will not start, but will be in on 2-tight end sets.
April 26th, 2009 at 7:05 pm
I’m watching film on Brandon Myers, he’s an inline blocker all the way. Very tenacious and physical at the POA. It’s the Penn St game and they just an right at PS with Shonn Greene. He is an impressive technician not very big just extremely aggressive.

I seriously would have taken every pick we took and gave them back just to have even Ron Brace in the 2nd round. I think he was far and away better than all these players combined.
April 26th, 2009 at 7:29 pm
Umm, let me count the reasons.
1- No combine invitation
2- No postseason All MAC team or second or third.
3- Ohio Us other saftey was All MAC first team
4- Not even on any scouts radar
5- Most teams had him as a FA
If they would have took him in the 4th or 5th then fine. But to take him in the early 2nd is a joke. Before you say ” The Bears were gonna take him in the 2nd” Mike Lombardi already said he called the Bears and they said they were looking at him in the 4th rd.

April 26th, 2009 at 7:48 pm

April 26th, 2009 at 7:57 pm
Crow #81, Cable is being straight forward. Jhill and I made this same point before the draft concerning Rickey Brown. When he went down IMO our run defense got worse. A lot of fans didn’t notice it but I did and so did Jhill when he reviewed the Jets game tape. He saw what a player Rickey is, as I did. Since that pint we were scrambling at that position (SLB) and we were never as effective as when he was in the lineup.
So Cable essentialy confirmed hwat we saw on tape. Now he also said that we needed depth which these draft picks should provide (we’ll see). But it’s exactly what Jhill and I said a couple of days ago.

BTW who has seen DHB play? and what were the circumstances for the stats?
There are people in here that act like the guy hsould’ve been drafted in the 5th rnd……….he was a top 20 rated player by all accounts. You’d have to be brain dead to say he can’t catch and yet he’s rated that high!
What don’t you understand about that? Guy’s that can’t catch aren’t rated as draftable. They are regarded as RFA. Get a clue!!
April 26th, 2009 at 8:02 pm
And even though Cable is telling them again, they still don’t accept it.
Nevermind that they can go to NFL.com and basically review the games themselves since it’s been so long.
Or maybe they just like to complain.
I wanted Maulauga in the first and the best base DE I never heard of in the 2nd.
I didn’t think we needed a S, preferring to go with Huff and Branch.
I thought we could have waited until next year to make sure that what we have at WR wasn’t good enough.

———-
That’s why I like the Mitchell pick but hate the DHB one. Mitchell has the measurables, he shows at minimum flashes of greatness on his highlight reel and has produced very good stats. I don’t know that DHB has much beyond the measurables.
One promising thing about DHB is I remember Charlie Casserly saying before the draft that his 40 speed translates to the field — he plays as fast as he runs on the track. The other thing is that Cable called him the best route runner of the top WRs. If both those things are true, maybe a good QB and coaching up of his skills will make him flourish in the pros like he didn’t in college.
BTW, I figured this before the draft, but I’m pretty sure Javon Walker’s football career is over. The restructure got him a little more money and the Raiders a lot more cap room. I’m guessing that’s all it was about and the Raiders will move on.
April 26th, 2009 at 8:19 pm

—————————————————-
Murphy? I thought we were talking about the Crabtree, Maclin, and DHB, you know, the top WRs in this draft?
Pro system in terms of being on field day 1 aas opposed to having to learn the route tree? Route tree is over rated? Wondering if bubble screen patterns translate to the NFL is overrated?
Mail that out to all the NFL GMs and see what they have to say.

99. Two words SYSTEM FIT.
Best player available who fit Davis’s particular and unique approach.
Bey’s speed will guarantee teams can’t stuff the box constantly. He’ll draw interest everytime he sprints down field if we connect on a few long bombs early.
Bey’s speed will open the middle of the field and give our runners a chance to break inot space.
Bey seems like such a reach (and he is) but if you consider Maryland’s lack of a quarterback, it gives Bey’s talents a little more perspective.
Davis’s scheme is differnet than everyone lese and thats a good thing.
This years draft, if successful, could change the way teams look at the draft and how much they pay some of these guys.
Davis has always taken pride in scouting small schools and finding hidden talent.
A good idea back in the analog era, but questionable in the media saturated digital age.
If even a couple of Davis’s wild picks hit (especially Mitchell) teams may dig a little deeper in drafts to come.

“I don’t want to do that and inherit a bunch of craziness. At the same time, men are men, boys are boys and they do there things. But I don’t want to bring someone in here that I thought was crazy, that couldn’t fit, that was about him. He had to be about the team.”

now we must brace ourselves for “draft grades” and “worst off-season predictions”
——————————————
Most teams have a draft philosophy of known talent in the early rounds, diamonds-in-the-rough in the middle rounds, then high risk selections at the end. I am not sure if most of us can understand the Raider strategy. Based on the national survey, I am not alone. I also can’t believe that we passed on a couple 330 lb DTs.

“Inconsistent hands” is a far reach from “can’t catch” inconsistent says he needs work. “can’t catch” says “can’t play”. Most recievers cning int the league need work on catching the ball. That’s just a coaching issue. If he works at it he can have great hands. Shannon Sharpe couldn’t catch coming into the league only to put in the work and now is on his way to the HOF. And he was terrible thus the very late pick.
No question Crabtree had the best hands in the draft but to say a guy can’t catch is a serious indictment.
He’ll also need help running routes as will Crabtree. But I still thought Crabtree was a monster. I never seen DHB play.

Wow what a speed demon. At the 2009 NFL Scouting Combine, Bey ran a blazing 4.30 forty which was the fastest run from all the prospects in the entire combine.
Physically, Maryland junior receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey is probably the top athlete at his position available this year. He is an early candidate for the fastest 40-time at this month’s combine and at 6’3” 205lbs, he changes direction like someone much smaller. No possession receiver this guy, Heyward-Bey is a true deep threat that will stretch defenses and be a force in the red zone with his great leaping ability and body control.
Finishing third in Maryland history with 138 receptions, 2nd in receiving yards with 2,089, and tied for third in TD catches with 13, his production says Maryland has a very poor history at wide receiver. Wait, that wasn’t my point. It says that Heyward-Bey is a great athlete that has the burst to separate from corners out of his breaks and did a lot with a little in his 3 seasons. Maryland doesn’t have the best QB history either.
Heyward-Bey was named First Team Freshman All-America and 2nd Team All-ACC by Sportingnews and Rivals.com in 2006 and earned an honorable mention All-America choice by Pro Football Weekly in 2007. 2008 say him earn another honorable mention All-ACC Conference from the Media. He led Maryland in receptions in each of his three years while setting a team freshman record with 694 receiving yards.
A near sure fire bet to run a sub-4.4 forty, Heyward-Bey is one of college football’s best athletes. He uses his size and long arms to great effect and bursts off the line of scrimmage. His ability to adjust to poorly thrown balls has created some highlight reel catches, both crossing the middle of the field and along the sideline. Defenders have a hard time getting clean shots at him in the open field as he really knows how to make himself small and he bursts back to top speed after pulling even the toughest moves. He high points the ball very well and will hold onto the ball after taking a big hit. He tracks the ball on deep routes and interestingly has a slight burst on deep routes that allows him to get under overthrown balls that nearly any other receiver would have no shot at. He’s an inconsistent blocker but he can push around the corner when he wants to.
With no other reliable receiver, not to mention an overmatched offensive line and poor quarterbacks (How the hell did Maryland win 7 games and a Bowl?), Heyward-Bey had the full attention of every secondary and RB Da-Rel Scott took a beating on his way to 1,133 yards and 8 TD, the duo carrying the Terps offense.
Scouts we’re looking for Heyward-Bey to take a big leap forward in his route-running and his consistency. With how great an athlete he is, Heyward-Bey has always been able to use his sheer explosiveness to create plays. The finer points of his game have not caught up to his potential and 2008 was no different. He can make spectacular catches, ones that few other receivers can make, but he still drops his fair share of the easy ones. His route running has taken only tiny steps forward each year and unless he makes it a point to improve in the pros it will be a while before he sees the field. He dances too much and could use his size more downfield.
His numbers at the combine were mind boggling and will probably cause some team to gamble that they can ‘coach him up’. Heyward-Bey has the potential to be great, but he has to prove he’s not just a track star in pads. Being the focal point of defenses since his first year really opened eyes and we’ve seen some great things from over the years but we haven’t seen the major improvements to his game that he’s capable of. Maybe the NFL brings the best out of him but right now he’s a much better athlete than football player. Teams should be wary of spending too high a pick on his physical skills.

If he pans out he will be a major deep threat hope he works out can’t teach sub 4.3 speed and vertical .

1. Raiders rated in the top 6 past 2 years in the run game. Should open things up for the pass. If you watched some of the games last year, you’d see the deep half was open. Just didn’t have the receivers.
2. Yes. Except Moss had Andrew Walter at quarterback and Robert Gallery at left tackle.
3. You are correct sir.
Thats more part of the current system than an indictment of Bey or Davis.
I think once the hype dies, teams will disect this and come to different conclusions than the knee jerk “WTF?!” reaction.
Bey went too high, but fully SIX wide outs went in the first round compared to ZERO last year.
Bey may not have been there if we traded back too far.

I dont mind DHB as a player but to take him at 7 is stupid and taking him over Crabtree is gonna hurt for alot of years. Fact is, DHB is gettn the short end of the stick coming to the circus that is Al Davis’s Raiders. Whens the last time the Raiders actually developed a top notch first round prospect? Based on DHBs reaction to being picked by the Raiders, he knows it.

DHB was a reach, but the end of the day they liked him. They made the case that he was their guy. He brings the skill set the desperately needed.
Mitchell same story. Chicago has confirmed that they were going to take Mitchell and that when he wasn’t there they traded out of the pick. Do any of you haters no more about defense than Lovie Smith.
Matt s. He adds depth, Bulk, and versatility: he can play both end spots with his blend of speed and size and he can also come down and play maybe the 3 technique.
Murphy is insurance on the DHB pick. The man is a hard worker and is the son of a pastor. He has strong character and can fly. You can’t teach leadership, nor can you teach speed.
Slade is what you were all hoping for with Zack Follet from Cal. A sam LB that can get after the QB. Except the raiders liked him more: a lot more.
Stryker adds more depth at LB and DE. Another tweener. Depth and versatility.
Myers is one of my favorites. i feel vindicated that Cable said they were targeting him or Pascoe. Inline blocker that gives the raiders instant depth at the TE position.
i can honestly say that now that I see the plan and how it was executed I am willing to buy into it. Cable is a salesman. I respect that if there were some differences, Cable is a pro and knows that the team has gotten better and his job is to coach up the players that are here.

April 26th, 2009 at 8:48 pm
Funny, I was reading Bill Williamson’s take on the AFC West draft a few minutes ago, and the title of the article was “Raiders and Broncos Ignore Biggest Needs”.
He writes that Tom Cable identified offensive tackle as Oakland’s biggest need in this year’s draft. I read the pre-draft press conference word for word and could find nothing to that effect. He was asked about the teams needs, and his reply was that they had identified four possitions of need and were targeting four specific players to fill those needs. When asked what they were, he said “I’m not going to tell you”. He hinted at safety and wide receiver, but that was it. He was asked about the tackles in this draft and spoke highly of four of them in particular (even said that as an O-line coach by trade he would of course love to coach one of them), but at no time did he identify OT as a need position, much less our “biggest” one. In fact, today he specifically mentioned talking them up “for a purpose”, which would have to mean that he wanted teams to think they would take one so the Raiders could potentially trade down (to get DHB lower and add picks, presumably).
Where do these writers come up with this stuff?

1) we were 10th in running, but yes i could agree with you on the concept but again we didnt address both sides of the line this entire draft!
2) Moss had Kerry Collins (ProBowl) and Brooks (underachiever) before Walters… Im kinda sad to say that the style of football Cable wants to play is outdated! I wish we can stick to smash mouth, run the ball, position receivers moving chains!
April 26th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
He can make spectacular catches, ones that few other receivers can make, but he still drops his fair share of the easy ones.
———————————————–
Tell me a WR that doesn’t drop his fair share of easy ones. How about focusing on the part right before that?
You know, the part about spectacular catches that few others can make?
Casserly said that he thinks he needs to see a vision guy. He doesn’t see any problems with his hands, but sometimes it seems like the ball gets on him too quickly. Casserly said that he’s seen that before and Bey just needs to get into the vision guy, i.e some better contacts.

April 26th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
NMF, thanks man, it is as close to what I imagined about DHB. He’s still raw as a talent (work ethic) no problem. Has an aggressive game and will take n the defense. Makes highlight reel catches. The inconsistent hands is just a matter of concentration. Even great players will have an occasional bad game. which is what I believe Mayock meant.
Bad QB play and lousy Oline speak to his stats.
All we’re talking about is the kid getting the proper coaching and playing with other players as talented as he is…………period
This kid will see single coverage due to the talent accumulated on this offense. he could grow in leaps and bounds. If they double him Zach will eat them up. with JLH and Chaz he is no longer a one man band.
Rej I didn’t see anything in that scouting report that said he can’t catch. And Mayock had him as a late 1st rnder……….nuff said.
April 26th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
Crow,
i can’t agree with you don’t need speed. after watching Curry, and Porter slug around for the last couple of years, i am all for infusing more speed into the position.
The raiders had below avg speed and the WR took a while to get open. the line could not hold the blocks for more than 2 seconds. This made for a situation where Jamarcus had a very small window of a half second to make a decision. The raiders have marginally gotten better on the o line. The extra speed opens up the window a little wider.
Jamarcus needs to help himself by loosing weight and going through the reads just that much faster. In the End the raiders have gotten better. The offense will open up just that much more.
April 26th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
DID CRABTREES eyes looked glazed during the draft???
I thought he was crying cuz he wasn’t the first wr drafted…
Chetan Chaudhers of KDOW 1220 “The Sports Ramble” just stated that Crabtree is a admitted pot smoker…
He then says this sounds more like a Raider pick and that its ok – because I’m sure Singletary won’t be concerned as long as Crabtree doesn’t light up in the locker room…
Imagine if this was a RAIDER pick…It would be all over the news…Hypocrites!
JUST BOMB-BEY BABY!!!
April 26th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
Final thoughts….
1st round:
DHB would have been an ok pick if Eugene Monroe wasn’t available, forget Crabtree vs DHB, it’s Mario Henderson vs Monroe from now on, Mario better turn out as good as Monroe is supposed to be and DHB better be good too.
2nd round:
Mike Mitchell, I don’t care, I have watched big and fast, highly touted, big school prospects Patrick Bates and Derrick Gibson fail before, maybe this small school guy turns out to be the real deal, if not…I’ll get over it.
3rd round:
Matt Shaugnessy, nice size, speed, athleticism and a hard worker…was really coming on and on track for a great senior year, which would have made him a higher pick, but he broke a leg in the spring and then his brother died just before the season, he didn’t have the season everyone expected.
4th round:
Louis Murphy, completes the biggest, fastest, WR trio in the NFL….DHB, Chaz and Murphy all stand at least 6′2 200 and can run 4.3 forties.
Slade Norris
I like this guy, he was a reach but the fact is he combines great speed and athletic abiliy with big time production, his role is yet to be determined but I think he’ll play in this league, should begin as a ST demon.
6th round
Stryker Sulak, if Norris was a reach, Sulak was probably a steal here so it evens things out.
Another hybrid edge player, similar to Trevor Scott and Greyson Gunheim, we are collecting some good looking pass rushing projects…Scott, Gunheim and Sulak all stand 6′5, weight between 250-265 and can really run.
Brandon Myers, nice pick, Iowa OL and TE’s are very well coached and fundamentally sound…this report says it all:
“Myers is more of a blocking tight end. He serves as an extra lineman more than as a pass catcher. Iowa does a great job of developing run-blocking tight ends. Myers should help the Raiders’ running game.”
April 26th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
Well. We came away with 2 WR’s for a position of need. We came away with a Safety which was a need. We got 3 DE’s who can be switched to linebacker. Maybe John Marshall will be different and blitz these guys from the strong side linebacker position? Who knows. Then we added some talent at the TE to help with blocking. My favorite pick is Mike Mitchell at this point. This draft doesn’t look good at first sight but we can make the true determination 3 years from now. I like Mitchell because the guy hurts people and I’d love to see some of that from our defense.
I would like to see Mike Mitchell and Tyvon Branch claim the FS/SS positions so we can have 2 guys that can knock peoples heads off. That would make our Defense more exciting if anything.
April 26th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
Jhill… Thanks for posting the Casserly comment. Very interesting take from someone who’s seen enough football to know about stuff like that.
April 26th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
the raiders just need to do want they did on offense at the last 3 games and they will be fine.they added speed to the offense today and o-lineman in free agency.they are better than last year just sign as many 300+ rookie free agents as possible.you only need to be right on one.
April 26th, 2009 at 9:01 pm
i can’t agree with you don’t need speed. after watching Curry, and Porter slug around for the last couple of years, i am all for infusing more speed into the position.
———————————————
And before that Tim Brown and Jerry Rice.
Some of you can’t see what’s coming? When was the last time we had these type of WRs AND a QB who could get them the ball?
Kerry Collins at the time we had him? Are you serious?
Rich Gannon couldn’t throw it more than 15 yards down the field.
I LOVE the fact that we won’t be seeing true projects like Watkins, and Holland any more. To have Schillens as the 4th WR makes us that much better. That’s no knock on him per se, but he’s a much better 4th WR than Watkins or Holland. JLH is perfect in the slot, and Murphy and DHB can handle the #1 and #2 spot.
April 26th, 2009 at 9:02 pm

Hey you dumba$$,do you ever think why the top 5 rated safeties all have their hilites on youtube? if you are not going to look good on youtube then when are you going to look good? Surely you can see a player’s upside on youtube. We dont know his downside but we can sure as hell see his upside. Mitchell is the only guy with 9 MINUTES OF HILITES. And dont start with the fck dumb comment about replaying. You dont replay 9 minutes of hilites.
Now STFU do your homework before you take me on son!

Crow,
i can’t agree with you don’t need speed. after watching Curry, and Porter slug around for the last couple of years, i am all for infusing more speed into the position.
__________________________________________________
I never said you don’t need speed. You just don’t need 4.3 speed. What you need is skill, and DHB is lacking in skill compared to other WRs in this class.
I’d rather we had reached for Hakeem Nicks, to be perfectly honest. It would have been no less ridiculous, but would have netted us a legit WR rather than a track guy with WR aspirations.
April 26th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
So what does all this mean for the post draft activity?
Can you believe how many LBs we took?
Is Morrison on his way to Cleveland?
Is Huff going somewhere?
Are we going to just straight out release Burgess?
Now THAT would be BALLZY! F U Burgess, you couldn’t get us a frickin 7th round pick. Don’t let the door hit u on the way out. That would be laffs if he got that treatment. I would be a life long Cable fan if he did that.

Nice assessment. A positive spin that is reasonable. Let’s hope you are on target. I still wanted Monroe. It will take awhile to get over that decision.
April 26th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
Joseph?
You mean Mitchell and Branch?
April 26th, 2009 at 9:10 pm
Alisgod,
You saying they didnt replay his hits at different angles?
April 26th, 2009 at 9:10 pm
on point Marley
I agree with your assessment. The raiders had a solid draft. I have a feeling that all of these player will be on the roster. If they all develop over the next few years this could a very good draft.
You can’t grade drafts on draft day. You can grade on value and manuevering up and down to get the player you want and accumulating more value as you go.
The raiders were definitely not the Pats with taking DHB so high. That being said there was not another DHb graded that high.
The raiders were comfortable moving back because they had two players they liked that were comparable. It worked out that they got two more picks and they still got the guy they wanted.
Now mitchell wasn’t even on the “guru’s’ board and chances are that it might have been just the raiders and Bears liked him that high. In the end of the day the raiders liked him and felt he was worth it, and the bears were so disappointed he wasn’t there they traded back to get more picks.
If the raiders would have taken say Jamon Merideth at this pick, everyone would have applauded them on tv because they got the WR and OT for Jamarcus. Never mind that Merideth did not come of the board til what the 5th or 6th round.
Value is what the Raiders board says it it. Quit trying to think you know more than the pro staff that just executed this draft.

Murphy and DHB can handle the #1 and #2 spot.

April 26th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
I can agree with that too but I think they point a lot of disgruntled fans are saying “we should’ve traded down” browns and pats front office was bouncing around all over the place that first day.. why couldnt we?
Cable was quoted as saying “we thought of moving up” in reference to drafting DHB… Are you effen kidding me??? move up to 1-6 six to draft this guy… someone posted something earlier today about “if” DHB was drafted by CINCI at 6 we’d be screaming BUST!!!

Yeah I guess only 15 teams caught it on youtube and invited him in for a workout. It’s a shame really…they should do their homework more. I mean…his nick name at Ohio was mislabeled as the Missile!
April 26th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
I can’t believe the 49ers got Crabtree and Pascoe. They are gona be a force to be reckoned with next year, and years to come after that…I hope our picks turn out better than Kiper predicts them too. I like the Mithchell pick now a lot, his youtube video sold me. That kid doesn’t tackle, he knocks people out. It looks like people are getting hit by a speeding truck when Mitchell hits them.
April 26th, 2009 at 9:12 pm

April 26th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
Well…Considering 75% of the blog was happy with Higgins and Schilens as our starting WR’s, you really shouldn’t be mad at the DHB pick because he becomes depth for us now right?

Nicks, the fat guy? LOL!
And what skill is DHB lacking?
At worst 3rd best WR on every board. Except BSPN of course!
April 26th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
Nicks is a nice player, but he doesn’t get off the line that fast. Nicks was rated lower than DHB on most of the “experts” rankings and obviously the raiders graded DHB as best in class.
The raiders got the guy they wanted not the guy that everyone else thought they should have. They have to back that up with about 20 mill in guarantees, but they felt he is worth it.I Just can’t argue with them.
I like Murphy. He has strong character, he makes plays, he is a leader and he can fly. That pick was one of the best value picks in the draft.
April 26th, 2009 at 9:15 pm

does it matter when he was drafted.he would go in the first round if he could be re-drafted.that means they missed on hin they could miss on mitchell.the system not perfect.

April 26th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
Crow don’t buy into all that non sense. The Raiders are a billion dollar sports franchise. They are profitable every year, and every year there value goes up. You can not run an organization of this magnitude in the manner that you are suggesting and the way the media wants to sell it to you. Al Davis is a lighting rod and sparks a lot of debate and criticism. He has made some horrible choices, but so does everyone else.
April 26th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
Jhill sometimes these guy’s will look at facts and prefer rhetoric regardless to who’s feeding them the crap.
some of them are just beyond hope.
The film on Frantz Joseph shows me a guy who could push for a job. Morrison better strap it on in camp. This kid is gonna fight like his life depends on it.
I would’ve lved one of the Oline guy’s but we’re talking coach Cable guy’s and I was very suspicious of his praising the the OT’s in the draft I found it surprising to say the least. He did what I thought he would do. What he said was interesting and gave me hope that he might take a OT but what HE DID is what I expected. So it’s hard for me to get upset when I expected it.

The Raiders gave jamarcus a speedy receiver, probably the best receiver coming out this year. With getting this guy up to speed against Nnamdi Asomugha all of training camp this assures me that this kid will prove the doubters wrong! Can Darrius Heyward-bey outrun Nnamdi in press coverage with the 4.3 speed? Yes. Can Michael Craptree outrun Nnamdi in press with 4.57? HELLL NOOO!!!

The thing a few folks are forgeting Priest is that Al and Cable admitted at the start of this that they are not close to being a SB team, and even said he knows we are not a playoff team. Can we compete for the division? Obviously, but that is just b/c the conference is so down. We have a QB, 2 RB, a WR that are all legit first round talents. But none of them have any experience. Neither does our LT (or maybe RT if he loses out to Barnes).
Cable has clearly put guys on notice. Burgess is out. The WRs weren’t productive enough and have been replaced. The LBs are clearly shaking in there boots, as if Huff.
If OT is an issue next year, then it will be addressed. But to not give Henderson a full year after what he did at the end of the season would not be right. Cornell Green has been replaced. Grove is gone!
What’s the problem folks?

DT Desmond Bryant 6′5 288
Performed well at the Harvard Pro Day flashing 11.5″ hands and 35.5″ arms. He also posted 4.92 and 4.93 heats in the 40-yard dash with a 31″ vertical, he repped 225 pounds 35 times on the bench.
Strengths
Physical freak, especially for the Ivy League. Massive, and can be looked at as a coveted 3-4 DE. Very long arms with good ups. Wreaks havoc by batting the ball down at the line of scrimmage. Very strong, and can really bull rush anybody at this level. Also has some moves. Obviously very intelligent. May not need football.
Weaknesses
Has never been tested against elite competition despite the undeniable physical gifts. Should have had better production that he did against such a low level of competition. Does he have motivational issues?
Projection:
5-6th round project with immense upside.

Here’s to hoping that Jerry Rice and Heyward-Bey see a lot of each other.
Oh! one other thing, it’s very obvious that Cable did NOT like Crabtree’s attitude and that’s also the reason Terrell Owens was never going to come here.
I’m not sure that if Cable is not the HC of the O Raiders that would be the case. In other words Big Al is definitely listening to coach Cable. TO was never even a chance except in the media.

# 209, wouldn’t be enough to silence some of the vocal critics who haven’t stopped bashing to notice all the depth being brought in to compete for position. FB and TE are still on Cables mind and I’m almost 100% there will be more linemen brought in, with him to have 6-7 more guys he is interested in bringing in.

April 26th, 2009 at 11:38 pm
A rel hybrid defense? Wow… Apparently he’s saying he wants to structure the defense like USC’s but with more of a finese rusher at SAM. That could be fun to watch, and Kelly could finally realize his potential a a strong side 3 on 3rd…I actually like those LB/DE picks a lot more with that idea in mind.
The company line is what it is, but at least it sounds good.

Big, very fast, inconsistent hands, who does that remind me of……… aw yes T.O.
