Whats with JaMarcus?? From what I hear from an inside source he thinks he's the second coming. He does NOT understand the system, has NO work ethic, will call Stabler when HE HAS time this kid has a lot to LEARN.
Good idea bringing in Garcia maybe he will beat JaMarcus out a the ripe old age of 40 and make JaMarcus think about what went wrong. Get off your butt JaMarcus and step up your work ethic A LOT!!!

Can't Stand

Post 421 last paragraph says it best: we are not yet ready to compete against elite NFL teams.

My optimistic side says that we are building the team from the outside in with elite skill talent as a result of our high draft positions. Next year as we approach 8-8 will will focus on line talent to finish the puzzle and become a playoff caliber team.

Today's reality is that Mitchell is a DB and will not impact our poor run defense.

Kelly,Sands,Warren,Joseph and Boschetti are castoffs and under achievers and Marshall can only hope we can control the ball on offense more than we did last year.
We have some promise at DE but they are projects and Burgess is hurt too often to be considered a force.

Barnes, Satele and Pears were all deemed expendable by other NFL teams. We may be bit better than last year especially with Neal but we will get dominated by strong defensive lines.

The Patriots, Steelers, Colts, Chargers and Titans invested about 70% of their first and second round picks on the offensive and defensive lines.
Until we do that we will not materially change the face of this team.

Offense:

QB Jeff Garcia
-->brings knowlege, experienced sounding board for our franchise QB, solid backup

RB Gary Russell
FB Lorenzo Neal
FB John Paul Foschi
-->power

WR Darrius Heyward-Bey
WR Louis Murphy
WR Samie Parker
-->speed

TE Brandon Myers
TE Chris O’Neill
-->toughness

OT Khalif Barnes
OT Erik Pears
OT Marcus Johnson
C Samson Satele
-->they bring power, better protection/time in the passing game, are young, experienced with the potential to eventually replace Green and Carlisle. i like this group. they could all start in the near future (Johnson for Carlisle)

Defense:

DE Matt Shaughnessy
DE Stryker Sulak
-->Stryker pressuring QBs while Nessy setting the edges

DL Desmond Bryant
DT Ryan Boschetti
-->one is practice-squad bound with great potential and the other brings hustle

LB Slade Norris
LB David Nixon
LB Frantz Joseph
-->anyone who replaces Sam Williams should be an upgrade

SS Mike Mitchell
SS Jerome Boyd
-->pain

---

wow, there could be 8-9 starters in this offseason additions. we basically went for need everywhere

thats why it was hard to grade RRS so I just went down the list and broke it down to the positions with the guys I think could stick and help

It's a great week to be a Raiders fan. Isn't it?

Gruden to MNF? Great move for him and for the network...but he's no Madden -- no Everyman -- and the world will find out soon enough. Without his trademark scowl, he's just another boring analyst now.

Gruden will ditch the network for the first big college head coaching job offer to come his way...NFL teams aren't likely to hire his "larger than life" personality to be an assistant coach -- too much of a distraction. HC or nothing for Gruden...and unless he gets to replace one of next season's early NFL firings, he'll be at college soon enough.

Speaking of distractions...

Anybody truly thinking Vick would be a good addition to this team is off their rocker. Think about just a few things like

1. the distractions from football;
2. the distractions from football;
C. what if Vick beat-out JaMarcus? Ready for Vick to be the face of YOUR franchise?

No, I don't think Vick can win the job immediately. But, six months of football later, Vick is going to be a good player again. Not great -- he never was.

Why bring a never-was-great QB to a team that already has a never-was-great veteran QB on it in Garcia?

Garcia's capable enough for his role as professional backup to push Russell -- adding Vick to the mix instantly sets this team back to Step-1 in it's QB quest.

No way to Vick. No way, no how.
