Nnamdi Asomugha, who did not participate in the Raiders’ last OTA, was present and accounted for Tuesday, according to the club’s Twitter page.

    No doubt KK,
He made some great throws in there with the bad ones. I like to think of the great ones!!

Doing well, I guess the northwest is treating you well.

I would bet if you asked any Raider fan Jamarcus needs to change not his personality but his ethics toward his job. It does not help when Cable volunteers information which implys that Jamarcus needs to grow up.

His avg passer rating over the last 7 games was 91.

In spite of the chaos at the beginning of the year.

Touche. But I don’t stalk anybody.

  • SaintKaufman

I can’t believe it Dell, it’s actually been sunny this week! Maybe that’s why I’m all positive on Jamarcus. That and the dudes got a canon. and can run. and can break tackles. and can handoff. Especially that last one! :)

  • Luvthynation

After reviewing last season i`m quite sure if we had started off with Mario Henderson at left tackle and Chris Johnson as our second cornerback,Chaz Schilens instead of Ronald Curry. We could have possibly been 8-8 or even 9-7. To many times drives were killed by Kwame “Worst of all time” Harris.Deangelo Hall was the worst bump and run corner ever and Ronald Curry couldn`t catch a cold in a blizzard. I`m not saying that we are going to the super bowl this year but we have a lot to be optimistic about. In the offseason we addressed the tackle positions as well as wide reciever which we needed more than anything. The acquisition of Lorenzo Neal is huge. on passing plays he is like another lineman and he is one of the best blocking fullbacks in history.Dmac will have a breakout year if healthy. I am most optimistic about JRuss, last year was really his rookie year and he got better as the year progressed. They finally took the training wheels off towards the end of the season and we saw the quarterback we hoped he would be.look for Zach Miller to have a pro bowl season because he won`t need to stay in and block on passing downs.Hopefully are new D coordinator will use more disgiused bllitzes and Burgess will have double digit sack numbers due to this being a contract year. On running plays we should be able to stack to box with 2 lockdown corners. To me the ? is our D-line. If the new D coordinator can teach our LB`s not to over pursue so backs can`t cut back for long gains like last year then we will be competitive and challenge for a AFC crown and more we shall see.

Try to come by a litle more, good to see your comments.

  • DarthPirate

Post 136, I agree some of what you’re saying, but the defense won’t really change. I think the best we can hope for is that Marshall simply gets better discipline (gap control and not over-pursuing) from his D. The scheme ain’t changing.

  • SaintKaufman

    Thanks Dell!
We all should be a little more positive in everything really. Life’s way to short to bummin about stuff all day.
I gotta roll. Got to go beat the dog! But I promise I’ll do it with a smile and a positive attitude!

    Y’all be cool.
    Go Raiders!!

  • Luvthynation

I hear that most of what Marshall is preaching gap control. Our defense will improve for 3 reasons 1.No more D-Hall.2 New coordinator. 3 Less time on the field because of our improved offense.

P.S. I saw Terdell Sands smoking a cigarette outside of Scends in Oakland. That explains his 4th quarter disppearance

Sands went through some personal tragedy with the death of a family member i think it was his mom not sure. I think that he is over that and hopefully can become the player he was before he signed that big contract. Not concerned about the cigarettes there are Hall of Famers that smoked Fred Dean Freddy B etc.

    Repost:

I was thinking about run defense for the Raiders and compared our moves to those around the league.

31ST – RAIDERS – Brought in two undrafted FAs MLB Franz Joseph, Florida Atlantic and Desmond Bryant, Harvard…signed Ryan Boschetti, practice squad Redskins

Worst run defenses last year and offseason response:

    20th – Panthers – Drafted a DT 3rd round Corvey Irvin
21st – Bengals – Drafted MLB Rey Mauluaga (2nd), Signed Tank Johnson
22nd – Bills – Not much but have Marcus Stroud
23rd – Texans – Drafted SLB Brian Cushing (1st rd) Sign DT Shaun Cody
24th – Colts – Drafted DTs Fili Moala, Terrence Taylor
25th- Falcons – Drafted DTs Peria Jerry (1st), Vance Walker (7th) and signed MLB Mike Peterson
26th – Packers – Drafted DT BJ Raji (1st), SLB Clay Matthews (1st)
    27th – Broncos – Drafted Robert Ayers 1st round
28th – Browns – Signed DE Kenyon Coleman, MLB Eric Barton
29th – Rams – Drafted MLB James Laurinitis, DT Dorell Scott
30th – Chiefs – Drafted DE Tyson Jackson 3rd overall
32nd – Lions – Signed Julian Peterson, Grady Jackson, Drafted DT Sammie Lee Hill, SLB Zach Follett

  • SnB Defense

In addition to my repost above…a couple of other moves by some teams of note:

Run defense rank and offseason moves:

2nd – Steelers – Drafted DT Ziggy Hood (1st rd)
    5th – Bears – Drafted DT/DE Jarron Gilbert (3rd)
6th – Titans – Drafted DT Senderrick Marks (2nd rd)
8th – Redskins – Signed DT Albert Haynesworth
9th – Giants – Drafted SLB Clint Sintim (2nd rd) Signed DTs Rocky Bernard and Chris Canty
15th – Patriots – Drafted DTs Ron Brace (2nd trade up), Myron Pryor (6th), Daryl Richard (7th)
18th – Seahawks – Drafted SLB Aaron Curry (4th overall), Signed DT Cory Redding
    18th – Buccaneers – Drafted DT Roy Miller (3rd)

All I have to say is I hope John Marshall, Dwayne Board and the Linebackers coach are as good as they say they are. Matt Shaugnessy was considered a reach pick at number 3. Lets hope he proves the critics wrong. Slade Norris, Stryker Slowak are predominantly pass rushers.

The key positions for run defense SLB, MLB, UT, DT and Strong side DE are pretty much unchanged for Oakland in 2009

Since I’ve been on this blog Mistabrown has not changed his attitude or what he believes.

His attitude is what it is, and he has strong opinions on what he says.

I will admit lately, he has not been as funny. It seems to me his comments during the evening, are tempered with less spark, the wine usually mellows him out just a wee bit.

Actually Dell, missed-a-brain is a Grade A certified moron who I knocked out last nite. After he got KO’d, he pissed and shat himself. He is a gutless POS who couldn’t find his ass with both hands a road map, and a licensed guide dog. That, was proven beyond a doubt last nite.

Why did Oakland sign Frye, Gradkowski, and Garcia if he’s such a “bonafide Qb” ?

    lmao
    —————————————————-
Of course you are laughing your ass off. That’s what sluggish dullards do when they eff up. Only a complete utter moron would think we would sign Gradkowski or Frye to supplant Jamarcus Russell. Right now the Oakland Raiders have a dozen WR’s on their roster. If one or two Q’s were throwing to 12 guys in camp they would burn their arms out faster than you have burned out what little brain power God gave you. It’s called training camp fodder. Something you should relate to in life.

“Lebanon is a telling case,” said Osama Safa, director of the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies here. “It is no longer relevant for the extremists to use the anti-American card. It does look like the U.S. is moving on to something new.”
In fact, some analysts said that it was possible that Lebanon’s election could be a harbinger of Friday’s presidential race in Iran, where a hard-line anti-American president,Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, may be losing ground to his main moderate challenger, Mir Hussein Moussavi.

    SnB,

man when are you going to get it that the coaching staff are obviously happy with the players we have at DT. It’s OK not to agree with them to a certain extent but they are the coaches. Don’t you think they have at least a bit more insight on who’s good in this league and what it takes to be a good run defense.

Your insistence that Al Davis doesn’t care about the Dline is at best presumptuous. Because no one (coaches scouts and owner) felt the need to add more than Boschetti at DT is negligent in your opinion. Says that you know more than all of them combined. And my question is how many NFL defenses have you biult?

Come on SnB the whinning is getting tiresome dude……….ease up at least let the coaches show their ability. To say that the scheme wont change most in here wouldn’t know if you drew out the scheme and contrasted it with the last scheme. IMO it will be a 3/4 base utilizing LB/DE edge rushers T Scott and the rest. There were times when we ran that scheme last year as well as the year before and virtually NO ONE in here realizes it. We used several fronts and coverages since Ryan was here. But if you asked vitually everyne in here they will tell you we ran a vanilla defense. FAR FROM IT!!! we ran a very complex defense.

The defense we will run under Marshall from what I understand will be simplified. Utilizing smaller attack style personnel on the perimeter of the defense.

You keep saying Warren didn’t draw doubles……yu are categorically WRONG. He drew lots of doubles as did Sands.

Your complaints would be much more credible if you would at least be factual. There were games when Warren was dominant yet you ignore all of that as you engage in your specious logic.

They like what they see in the DT’s or else they would’ve made some changes like they’re doing everywhere else.

  • priesttj

Hell the most indepth anyone ever gets in here about the variety of defense is that “WE DON”T BLITZ” enough. That in their opinion is a varied scheme.lol

  • Nnamdi21

    148. A base 4-3 will be our D, but you are correct. We ran a 3-4 package (usually in the red zone) and various nickle packages including big and wolverine 6 DB pack.

For better or worse, Oakland runs a passing game stopping D.

For that to work, the offense has to do more than score every 206 plays.
