Air force? If you are going to sign your ass over to the gov’t, be sure you maximize your investment. USAF may teach you a solid career, but they will not instill the discipline that you would expect from a military commitment. If you are looking to grow into a man, join the USMC (just don’t believe a thing the cs’er recruiter tells you).

^^^^^
Don't know about the marines helping kids grow into disciplined men....perhaps making them into nutcases would be more appropriate.

Twocents Says:
July 20th, 2009 at 11:42 am
Saturday morning at the local golf course a newcomer approaches a threesome on the first tee and asks if he can join them.

The new guy plays left-handed and plays well so they invite him to join them next Saturday at 8 am.

The man agrees but warns them that he might be late but no more than ten minutes.

The next Saturday he’s there promptly at 8 but plays right-handed.

After the round, one golfer asks him how he decides whether to play right-handed or left-handed.

He replies “When I wake up, if my wife is sleeping on her right side I play right-handed, if she’s sleeping on her left side then I play left-handed.”

A few minutes pass and the golfer asks “What if she’s sleeping on her back?”

“That’s when I’m ten minutes late.”

Woodson was my ultimate favorite and he was great but he didn’t focus.

***

the memory that sticks out the most in my mind of C Wood's time in Oakland was when we played the Bears (2003) and thier QB got flushed out of the pocket. He got to the sideline and instead of ducking out of bounds Kordell Stewart trucked Woodson and kept going. got way past the first down marker...

Stewart was the same height and only 15 lbs heavier than Woody! haha. wasn't like a FB or TE coming at him or anything :)

Worlds set to collide for Brandon Marshall in mid-August

Posted by Mike Florio (PFT)

When the domestic battery trial of Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall was postponed from June 11, it was reported only that the case had been continued to August.

The folks at CompleteColorado.com report that the case is due to convene in Atlanta on August 13.

The good news? The Broncos don't practice that day.

The bad news? They are scheduled to travel to San Francisco on August 13 for a preseason game on August 14.

Though the situation might be different if Marshall had been summoned to testify as a witness or to serve on a jury, Marshall's absence is the result of his own conduct. The Broncos, then, presumably will have the discretion to take the position that the leave of absence is not approved, which would expose Marshall to fines and other potential consequences.

And that could be particularly expensive for Marshall if the trial begins on August 13 and requires at least two days of court time. Under that scnario, Marshall would miss the preseason game, which could cost him a full regular-season game check.

In regards to the Asomugha vs. Woodson debate yesterday...

Woodson was my ultimate favorite and he was great but he didn't focus. Too often, nobody would throw his way and then suddenly, a big play would be made on him because he just wasn't into the game. He wanted to be involved. He probably would have made a better safety because he loved to take chances and that would have kept him in the game more. Also...as good as he was, I never felt like he could seriously lock down the best receivers. I know its tough but he couldn't handle Moss. Moss slapped him around like a little girl and it was frustrating.

Asomugha is more complete than Woodson. Hes always focused, more determined and more intelligent. He can shut down his side of the field and pick the ball off when he finally gets tested. He rarely if ever gets beat deep the way Woodson would when he would bite on a pump fake. I don't know if Aso is as good of a tackler but hes not far behind and he always gets his nose around the ball. I think Woodson was a better overall athlete but Asomugha is a better overall corner.

2009 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:

person
Matt Shaughnessy, DE, Wisconsin
Matt Shaughnessy is the type of player that every coach loves to have on their team. He's not only the hardest worker, he's also extremely talented. Shaughnessy has been incredibly productive during his career at Wisconsin, after taking over a starting role as a sophomore. He's another one of the new breed of college defensive ends. Shaughnessy is small, quick, and hard for big tackles to block. He seems to always be in the backfield disrupting plays, having recorded 33.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks in his first three seasons. Shaughnessy might need to add a little bulk to play every down in the NFL. He plays at 253 pounds right now, and if it doesn't affect his speed, could stand to gain 15 to 20 pounds. He is very alert, and makes all the little plays that make a defense great. Shaughnessy is excellent at using his 6'6" frame to bat balls down at the line of scrimmage. He broke up 9 pass attempts during his career when asked to drop into coverage. Shaughnessy had a slow season in 2008, finishing with only 40 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks. The Badger senior is probably a third round prospect at this point in time. However, if Shaughnessy can have a productive off season and run a good time at the NFL Combine, he could go as high as the middle of the second round.
Matt Shaughnessy had a solid, but uneventful week at the East-West Shrine Game in January. He made few mistakes during practice, but failed to really wow any coaches either. More than anything, Shaughnessy showed off his non-stop motor to potential employers. During the weekend's game, he recorded 4 tackles, a tackle for loss, and even batted down 2 passes at the line of scrimmage.

Matt Shaughnessy ran slower than expected at the NFL Combine, but because of the unusually slow times all around it may not have hurt his stock too much. He only logged a 4.91 second 40 yard dash time, but coaches will be more interested in his effort and consistency as a pass rusher. He should be drafted in the late third or early fourth round this year.
