Dear Jerry, I enjoy reading your articles more than any other sportswriter. But I think you can do a little bit better as far as research. You passed on that story about Russell missing his last OTA workout but no one has mentioned this “incident” save for Mike Lombardi with any corrobaration. But this is not nearly as bad as SI Don Banks last year when he said that Russell was going to come to camp with a D-tackle’s weight. This was accepted by reporters as fact but it was never researched. It turned out to be totally false. During this off-season it was brought out as fact. During the off-season interviews with Garcia and Murphy, they each said that they were going to work hard to get on the playing field. Garcia’s comments were interpreted by many as an insult directed toward Russell. Murphy’s comments were taken as nothing more than an athlete wanting to compete. Jerry, you are the best but there is always room for improvement.

Cable said sixth-round pick Stryker Sulak was released earlier this month for no reason other than the defensive end/linebacker wasn’t a good match. It was totally football related, not something Sulak did off the field.

“We just felt like the fit wasn’t there,” Cable said. “It is disappointing but it’s not a perfect world here and you do the best you can.”

Either way, when a draft pick can’t make it to training camp, it’s a wasted pick — especially when the previous two drafts produced Trevor Scott and Oren O’Neal in that round. Co-sixth rounder Brandon Myers will have to pick up that flag on his own.

Now d you guy’s understand what I’ve been saying for two years, there it is in writing Kirk’s own words. Discipline tecchnigue and gap control. Why Ryan wasn’t hammering this i nt there heads is a mystery to me. Nothing planned happens without discipline and certainly not 11 guy’s trying to stop the run.

Kirk’s words are music to my eyes and ears because it seems there is a method to the madness. Everybody finally on the same page, what a concept!!
