Dave? Dave’s not here. Narco and Brien, long time no talk.
You Boy’s ready for some Raider football?
Brien, I was reading some earlier posts regarding Yvonne, and in principle I agree that the young guys should play, BUT if Yvonne is 100% healthy then mabey that’s found money.
It will be interesting to see how that whole thing plays out.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:48 pm
Fa sho Bob…….RaiderLen, you may have a point but I’m very skeptical. The archives will show I was down for that guy and man last year was pitiful
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:48 pm
So…it looks like Branch is SS and Mitchell is FS. Starters?
bydavidwhiteSS Tyvon Branch stayed with McFadden on sideline go route for Inc. Not easy to do.

bydavidwhiteMike Mitchell spending his time dropped in coverage, no chances yet.

I still say we outta keep 6 WRs if Javon is healthy…….the other 5 are Chaz,JLH,DHB,Murphy and Watkins/Miller or Holland. I still think Chaz and JLH should start.

If Garcia is cut, who is our best option at backup?
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:51 pm
I don’t think we need 6 unless one of those guys does great during pre-season games and can contribute on special teams. Otherwise, stay with Walker, DHB, Schilens, JLH an Murphy.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Chaz fasho! Who’s gonna grab the #2 spot? Walker or DHB I suppose… Or Murphy if Hey-Bey can’t get his head stright geez…. Catch then run Darrius!

nick miller sounds like hes makins a play for the 6th wr.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:54 pm
I doubt Garcia is getting cut. I believe Garcia worked with Hackett in Tampa Bay so I’m sure he knows most of the system thats been implemented. Gradkowski is younger and is battling for the 3rd spot with Frye despite also working with Hackett.

No Doubt
I’ve refrained from commenting on Yvonne one way or the other for His duration here.
I know the guy could ball, but had been hurt/injured.
The problem I’ve had is His head. I’m still not convinced He can contribute, but If his head and health are right, then Our offense will be better for it.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:55 pm
man what hell is up with this site? Posting too quickly my ass
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:55 pm
If Garcia doesn’t make it…you know Vick is coming to town haha. I think Frye could handle the #2 if Garcia couldn’t but I seriously doubt Garcia doesn’t end up as our #2.

Yeah I agree. I mean if Russell cant handle it we are screwed anyways with Frye or Garcia. Frye can play backup.

The mods should concentrate more on fixing the registration than working about cutting posts.

I’ve got no problem with Chaz and JLH as the starters.
I was on the Chaz jock after seeing His performances the last few games of the season. (actually prior), but those games proved to me He could play.
I thought we should have stood pat at WR during the draft. But now that we’ve got DHB and Murphy, I’m pulling for them to develope into real pros.
I like the young guys. Any contribution that Yvonne can make is icing on the cake.
August 3rd, 2009 at 6:08 pm
With Cable being extra aggressive in his playcalling this year, would you be surprised to see Trevor Scott pull a Jared Allen and score a TD as a tight end? Tell me I’m crazy I know but I’d expect it. Dude is an athlete

As usual you make a sensbile post. The thing is if Javon isnt hands down above JLH or Chaz then what the hell is the point? The uncapped year is coming and we dont know if a strike is coming. Let’s build for a future dynasty.

It could happen. He was a TE. Goal line O. T Scott FTW!
August 3rd, 2009 at 6:11 pm
The hitting began and no injuries. That is awesome baby! What is satisfying to know is that contrary to the previous training camps the offense seems to make more plays vs the defense. That could be a good thing coming this fall. Interesting how that first unit looks aug 13th.
August 3rd, 2009 at 6:12 pm
Heres the beauty of it…If Walker is above average, a trio of Walker, Schilens with Higgins in the slot is very good in my opinion. You still have Miller at TE and McFadden at tailback. Plenty of options.

Hey 24,
JLH could have a better year, but if I had to bet money, I’d put it on Chaz.
The early reports (emphasis on Early), is that Chaz has been the best WR of the group.
I’ll take any combination of production from any mix of players that result in WINS.
JLH is a game changer. The Raiders have to find a way to utilize His skills, and JLH has to demonstrate a Proffesional understanding of His assignments.

Also…I haven’t been to Music at the Park at all this year. I always forget about it. I’ve been to the music at the Boardwalk on Friday’s once or twice and thats it. I went to the one in San Jose last year and they were playing beatles songs. Then I went to another one…popular Irish band but I can’t think of the band.

ProFootballTalk.com is reporting, per an unidentified league source, that the Patriots have decided to sign the Raiders recently released quarterback Andrew Walter.
There were rumors that the Pats were interested in Michael Vick but it soon turned to the team signing former Dolphin Cleo Lemon. But after the Raiders could find no suitors to trade for Andrew Walter, they cut him loose and he soon became the Patriots number one priority.
Walter will be competing with Kevin O’Connell and Matt Gutierrez for the second and third string QB spot behind Tom Brady.
Man those Patriots sure do like picking through the Raiders trash can.

Kelly really hasn’t accomplished much overall as a Raider. I’m not worried. I just want to see him become the dominant player hes supposed to be. Our offensive line is trying to get in sync. What Kelly does in practice on a team trying to “practice” doesn’t say as much for what Kelly does to another team.

Patriots drop Gutierrez
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 3, 2009 9:05 PM ET
The Patriots have confirmed the signing of Andrew Walter, a story broken by PFT’s fearless leader earlier this evening.
To make room for Walter, the team waived quarterback Matt Gutierrez.
Gutierrez made the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2007, and there was some belief he was set to pass Matt Cassel on the depth chart last offseason.
That didn’t happen. Cassel is now a $63 million man, and Gutierrez is looking for work.
Josh McDaniels and Scott Pioli are two logical suitors; they are always willing to kick the tires on some Patriots castaways. (And Pioli has waiver preference over Denver.)
Cassel can be assured Gutierrez wouldn’t challenge him this time if they wound up teammates.

Farglass? LOL well more of the same when we run the ball on first down.
24, Warren is a UT. His pass rushing game is better than his game vs the run. He try to shoot the gap all the time and never really makes any big time plays vs the run. Sands is the only true Nose Tackle we have. This cannot go on and we expect to win the division.

Warren really does a great job at eating up space? Sands has been disappointing I know but he is in great shape like 2006 and plays the run better. What the hell is on people’s mind?

Brien – Not that Warren is great at eating up space…in my mind…hes just been better than Sands.

At pass rushing he has but he isnt good verse the run. He isnt a nose tackle at all. Cant you see that? He is the reason why Kelly gets doubled for the most part. Kelly didnt see one on one as much as people think. Sands is in way better shape and we saw him play well when he was. His best vs Warren best at NT is a no brainer
