The thing that has me a little concerned is JRUSS. The chemistry he had with chaz, he needs to build with ALL of the WR’s. The interview he did on comcast was very telling. Chaz bailed him out a lot…..

I also dont like the fact that garcia was the one in charge of gettin at the offense, not JRUSS. I know he is quiet but he does need to be more vocal….

Can JRUSS do it I beleive he can.

If Russell isn’t putting in over-time with the guys now that Chaz is out for a min, there is a big problem. He should be putting in the OT anyway, but especially now…

    Could the Broncos suspend Marshall?

    Posted by Gregg Rosenthal (PFT)

Brandon Marshall’s rift with the Broncos only appears to be growing with time. Many are starting wonder a natural question: Could this relationship fracture entirely before the regular season?

Bob Glauber of Newsday, writing on Twitter, has an interesting hunch.

“Gut feeling,” he writes. “Broncos will eventually suspend Brandon Marshall for conduct detrimental to the team. Reminds me of Year 2 of T.O. In Philly.”

While this is couched as speculation, it makes a lot of sense. There are similarities between the Owens and Marshall situations.

If Marshall continues to “disengage” from practice like he did on Wednesday, the Broncos could eventually suspend him for being a distraction to the team.

The Eagles set a precedent that a player can’t disrupt the team’s objectives while in attendance at practice.

Marshall’s situation doesn’t seem as poisonous as Owens’ in 2005, but we’re less than a week removed from Marshall’s acquittal on misdemeanor battery charges and the situation has devolved quickly.

The next move is seemingly up to Marshall. He can continue to make noise or he can try to get back in the starting lineup. If he chooses to antagonize the Broncos further, he risks losing part of his 2009 salary.

Instead of rattling cages, just wait until those systems dept. clowns lean back in their office chairs and…WHAM! Norco Bob can arrange for Coach Cable to visit if needed.

    Crabtree-DHB duel won’t go down

    Posted by Tom Curran (PFT)

When the preseason schedule came out, the evening of August 22 looked like a fun night for “told ya so’s” and backseat G.M.-ing in the Bay Area.

Niners at Raiders. Oakland’s rookie wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey — the seventh overall pick and consensus choice for biggest reach in the 2009 draft — on one side, and San Fran’s Michael Crabtree, the 10th overall pick and consensus choice for “guy who slipped too far,” on the other.

Well, it’s not going to work out that way.

Heyward-Bey will be there, Crabtree won’t.

The latter is in Day 23 of a holdout that’s linked in large part to his camp’s perception that he should have been a top-five pick and thus is superior to Heyward-Bey, even though Crabtree was drafted three spots lower than DHB.

Heyward-Bey’s deal with Oakland was for five years and $38.25 million, with $23.5 million in guaranteed money. In his MMQB column from earlier this week, Peter King wrote that Crabtree won’t settle for less than what DHB received.

But the time-honored slotting system used for signing unproven players to absurd contracts says that Crabtree should get a little less than what the ninth pick, B.J. Raji, got from Green Bay: Five years, $28.5 with $19.5 guaranteed.

A source with knowledge of the negotiations told me Wednesday, “Nothing’s changed.”

Which means Crabtree, utterly convinced he’s better than Heyward-Bey, continues to collect dust and reinforce the diva label that was affixed to him in the weeks before the draft.

    And Heyward-Bey plays on.

Fisher takes a shot at Schefter

    Posted by Mike Florio (PFT)

Our pal Adam Schefter, who joined ESPN earlier this week, is getting an official baptism by en fuego.

Schefter reported on Monday night that the Titans have contacted veteran receiver Marvin Harrison.

Titans coach Jeff Fisher said on Wednesday that it’s not true.

“We’ve not contacted Marvin,” Fisher said, according to the Tennessean. “We’ve had no contact whatsoever with Marvin or his agent and to be quite honest with you I don’t know where Adam Schefter got that information.”

Asked whether he might change his mind, Fisher said, “No. You’ll have to just stay put and see what Adam says because he’s got a better take on what we’re doing than we do.”

    Yikes.

We assume Fisher won’t be giving jobs to any of Schefter’s kids.

    ***

LOL! Al Davis, Raider fans and the NFL Network aren’t the only one who think Adam Schefter is a piece of cr@p!

  • RaiderRockstar

Crabtree wants: more than five years and $38.25 million, with $23.5 million in guaranteed money.

49ers want: less than Five years, $28.5 with $19.5 guaranteed.

so will the 49ers offer $11 million more ($4 mil guaranteed) or will Crabs eventually fold and sign?

2nd that Nation! I hope the 9ers don’t give in, his arguement is ludicrous. How can a rookie come in and change the NFL draft process. I’d bet he knows he is going to have troble adjusting to a pro system and is worried this will be his only chance to get paid.

SF is west coast baby, no spread offense here dude. Your gonna have to prove your worth to get a bigger pay check Crabs. Who knows, maybe YOU are the “bust”.
