By Jon Becker
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009 at 4:43 pm in Live chats, Oakland Raiders.
Sorry for the late notice, but wanted to alert you folks that Jerry McDonald will be conducting a live chat about the Raiders tomorrow (Wednesday, Aug. 26) at noon PDT.
The Raiders had the day off in Napa today, which meant Jerry also took a day of rest. But he’ll be back to answer your questions before Raiders practice tomorrow, then he’ll post reports from practice on his Twitter account as well as this blog.
Hope you can join us tomorrow for the live chat!

Are you for real? How long you been a fan Kell? Al Davis would rather find the diamond in the rough that no one thought would make it, than take the “sure thing” heisman guy any day of the week. Doesnt mean he doesnt take ‘em, I mean we couldn’t pass on DMAC. Point is, that’s part of Al’s legacy.

I started going to the games with my Dad in 1964′
How bout you?

Sure, the team wasted time with Sands, Stu, et al. But the good news Kell is that they’ve been getting the picks right lately – filling the spots with the right men and wasting less time. The team is now visibly improving.

Lets take a look at this list Kell and tell me what you see..
It’s all about Superbowls. Winning records are fluff and mean nothing. Just ask the current Dallas Cowboys and Jerry jones if that statment doesn’t ring true.

If you don’t think Al would take Heisman winners you must not have seen the Raiders in the 80’s Plunkett,M.Allen,B.Jackson,T.Brown, and later in 90’s D.Howard
August 25th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
Any of you guys remember when Al Davis signed Tommie Smith, the Olympic sprinter?
Didn’t think so.
August 25th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
Notice the Colts and the Raiders show up on my list the same amount of times. Winning records for the last 20 years mean squat.
August 25th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
I remember when 45+yr Jim Brown was on cover of SI in Raider gear talking about a comeback.

What does it hurt to lose the most games over 6-years?
Ummm…NOTHING, but merchandise and ticket sales.
Oh, and a lot of pride.
But, that’s all.

AZ Raider here’s what your brother thinks too. Frankly it’s one of the most disgusting things anybody could say about sports. That winning is not important.
But I’ll keep your statement too. You’ll see it again.

I remember being at a Raiders game in 02 and looking up at the scoreboard. You know what statistic they showed. Winning percentage. The Raiders used to have the highest winning percentage of any American sports team of any sport. WTF happened.

No doubt that Al has been a huge handicap recently, but I can’t remember when he has ever rebuilt like he has in the last three years.
Unfortunately, it’s only been on offense.
August 25th, 2009 at 5:13 pm
eh who cares offense is more fun to watch anyways.
August 25th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
Peace Nation. Catch you cats tomorrow.
August 25th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
pretty much the same list. Playoffs mean squat if you cant get to the big show.
August 25th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
ok im out.
August 25th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
Any of us give a damn when al davis signed tommy smith?…. didnt think so.
August 25th, 2009 at 5:23 pm

August 25th, 2009 at 5:24 pm

August 25th, 2009 at 5:27 pm

Hard to call a pre-season game critical, but my well- being requires a good showing by the Raiders this Saturday.
I don’t care what the score is, just look professional.

On chron live Denny Green basically said russell sucks,..cant make all throws,..horrible accuracy.
August 25th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
Denny Green the genius of the UFL. He will be out of the job in a year when that flops. Still probably butt hurt that Al didnt hire him.
August 25th, 2009 at 6:08 pm
Denny turned him down, more then once.
August 27th, 2009 at 7:18 am
Denny Green- Yawnnnnn…Russells gonna be fine..Garcias just a back up at best…Starting Garcia sets the Raiders back…
