fiscal policy impacts the economy in a big way…
as for my business… the fact that i am actually still in business is just short of a miracle…
i don’t sell schit… our business performs engineering tasks for telephone companies…
phone companies tend to be very mindful of the economic climate and cut their budgets as they see fit…
that, combined with contract negotiations with their unions… created a huge problem…
had the unions gone on strike… that would have been good for me…
had the unions settled quickly… that would have been good for me…
but for the past 7 months everything has been in limbo… and that has been bad for me…
another part of my engineering business depends on new housing starts… as we do fiber to the home designs… not a lot of new construction out there now is there???
but… since you’re the only smart m’fker here… i’ll let you tell me how i could have done it right…
by the way… i am assured by several of the managers at the phone company that as soon as their budgets for 2010 are released they would like to negotiate some new work…
they didn’t say bid it out.. they said negotiate…
one last thing…
two weeks ago i bid 7 cents a foot on a 75 mile fiber job in Oklahoma… i never bid less than 24 cents/ft in my life…
i lost the bid… unbelieveable…
but… clearly i don’t know what the fck i’m doing… right you stupid m’fer…

And spare me the Rich Gannon references. He gave us a couple of years and then the eternal darkness that we are just now trying to come out of.
Championship teams have solid QB signal callers that are home grown and developed. They get 10 to 12 yrs of great play and build the pieces around him.
Teams that shuttle retreads every two years become nothing franchises.
If you aren’t a championship caliber team….you better be developing a long-term answer at QB. Garcia ain’t it!

Even if Russell wasn’t the guy…the Raiders would be better off playing Frye or Gradkowski because they at least have the potential to play in the league another 10 yrs.

Indianapolis = Long term QB
Philadelphia = Long term QB
Pittsburgh = Long term QB
New York Giants = Long term QB
San Diego = Long term QB
Carolina = Long term QB
As a result, those teams have made multiple deep runs into the playoffs and Super Bowls…
Chicago, Oakland….1 and done…couldn’t keep a QB around more than a couple of years.

Its not about hating on Garcia. The fact is teams RARELY get rid of good QBs with a lot of productive years ahead of them.
The only one I’ve seen is the Cutler saga.
So if you want more than an occasional glimpse with Gannon or a Jeff Hostetler…you develop your own QB in your own system!
Developing a QB is not easy. It takes time. Russell is finally getting NFL coaching, doesn’t turn the ball over and doesn’t seem to be emotinoally unstable. Ride with him and see what he can do with some half-way decent talent.
He had no help last yr. That roster was embarrassing.
