Cable statement on Seymour
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Monday, September 7th, 2009 at 2:44 pm in Oakland Raiders.
How coach Tom Cable addressed the Richard Seymour trade following practice:
Cable: Real quickly about the Richard Seymour issue. We have attempted to make a deal. There are some issues still between him and the Patriots that are being worked out. Hoping that will be resolved as quickly as possible. We know that the player wants to be here, but we have no control really over those issues. That’s really all I’m going to talk about it for now.
Q: Can you tell us how you know he wants to be here? Have you spoken with him?
Cable: I have talked to him.
Q: So he said he wants to be here?
Cable: Yes.
Q: Is there a day you have to have him by to play in the opener?
Cable: As soon as possible. That’s really the only way to answer that right now.

profootballtalk.com is reporting that Seymour is “pissed” about the trade and theres a possibility he wont report to oakland which would make the trade not happen.

Another bull3!t report. The headline reads:
What if Richard Seymour doesn’t show in Oakland?
What is this, Marvel Comics “What if” issue? What if Tom Brady has a sex change? What if Fox News told only the truth?
A good friend of Seymour’s told King on Sunday, “I would not be surprised if he doesn’t report.”
We’ve heard the same sentiment. So the source posed a great question.
What happens if Seymour doesn’t show?
Peter King?? Are you serious? What if Al Davis found Curly’s gold & bought the Patriots & Broncos? What if Pat Bowlen has alzeimers?
New Rick Reilly article
The Denver Broncos’ Pat Bowlen used to be one of the cleverest owners in sports. But now he’s being undercut by an insidious opponent — himself.
Bowlen, 65, admitted recently that he has “short-term memory loss.” There are whole parts of the Broncos’ Super Bowl seasons he says he can’t recall.
Bowlen still insists Jay Cutler never called him back during McJay Gate this winter, which left him “no choice” but to trade a dead-lock Pro Bowl 26-year-old quarterback for Kyle Orton and draft choices.
But I’ve now got it from three different sources — who choose to remain unidentified — that Cutler did call Bowlen back.
“Jay called him twice,” said one source. “It’s unbelievable it came to this.”

So we find out now that he does wanna be here, and that he’s pissed at NE(probably for no heads up on bein traded). Amazing the direction the media takes with these stories. So does that make Peter King a liar when he said he got it from a source he may not report to Raiders, guess so. We’ll see, I won’t be happy till he’s in Alameda in a jersey and helmet and a 3 year(min) contract signed

Where are all of those folks that were going on and on about how Seymour isn’t going to show up? It seems that they have all disappeared. They are always talking about others “taking their lumps” after a loss yet when something like this happens they scatter like cockroaches when the light turns on.

Hey 408, how’s it going bro? Did ya take the little one out to a picnic today? Take her out for an ice-cream on me! lol, and get a brew for yourself!

pft.com has been reporting all day and yesterday how Seymour might not show up, all based on unnamed sources and speculation. Now here are some concrete statements in reality regarding the sitaution and pft.com will ignore it, or at least take their sweet assed time, unlike jumping all over pure speculation as if it were fact.

Richard Seymour is well on his way to a potential Hall Of Fame Career.
When — not if — the Raiders rise above mediocrity, if he stays healthy, he will cement his place in history by helping them do it. He now has a chance to creat a whole new legend, on a team needing a HOF-type identity on its D-line.
Al Davis is THE MAN.
SAY IT WITH ME, MR — AL DAVIS IS THE MAN!!!

“Pats’ spokesman Stacy James says he’s unaware of any difficulties regarding Seymour trade, per Associated Press”
This is what pft.com and all of the haters will cling to until the deal is done.

Go AL DAVIS.
Go RAIDERS.

MR and Little Ricky together at last. I think they’re down at city hall looking into a civil union.
September 7th, 2009 at 3:09 pm
Hey, what a treat – Lil Ricky is still on the blog and in hyper drive!
See folks, this is what happens when teens get a holiday and pound a case of Mountain Dew before playing on the computer. The little dude is only minutes from cleaning out his mom’s pound cake and snorting a line of crushed Tylenol.
So where’s my old pal Krappy on this wonderful holiday? Hopefully he hasn’t mistakenly soaked his head in A1 and is casually bbqing it on the grille.
I mean, you can soak that thing in rose petals and Drakar for Men for a week and half and it’ll still end up smelling like the Papa John’s delivery guy.
Whatta loon!

All I know is…if Seymour doesn’t mind being a Raider and he gets his contract, what a trade. The guy is a 5 Time Pro Bowler. The guy is a defensive lineman. The guy has 3 Superbowl Rings. The guy is very good against the run and the pass. WE NEED A RDE. My biggest issue with our defensive line and I have gone over this many times has been that our defensive ends have been too small to hold the point of attack. Our DT’s have been forced to pickup the slack of for our overmatched and undersized outside lineman and runs to the outside have been frequent and successful for other teams.
We finally have a guy who can bully the offensive line on the outside, who can contain the run from getting outside and who can also put some pressure on the QB. He takes ALOT of stress off Kelly and Warren and keeps them from getting double teamed and that alone is going to help us in getting pressure on the QB. HES ONLY 29 YEARS OLD. I’m excited about this trade. Hes even listed as the 6th best defensive lineman by Scouts Inc. I’ll trade 1st round picks for sure talent any freakin day. Trade next years 1st rounder for Anquan Boldin for all I care.

Here’s my take, for what it’s worth:
Seymour’s no fool.
He wants a LT deal in place before he gets here.
I figure Al will open the checkbook and give him what he wants.
I know he’s heard what BSPN, Peter King and others have had to say about him. I’m betting he’s gonna come in, commence to kickin some a– and take names.
I think that his very presence on the team will light a fire under the rest of the starting D line, particularly TK. The fact that TK isn’t known for talking to the media, but went on at length after hearing of the trade is a encouraging sign.
I know a lot of other things have to go right for things to really change and yeah, Al could have made some better choices in the draft but anyone who thinks this isn’t a MAJOR step in the right direction just (finally) isn’t being honest.
September 7th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
I see all the big mouths who predicted Raiders going 0-16 and the ones that said Seymour wasnt going to report are all hiding in their parents basement. typical low life cowards.
September 7th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
It proves they are confident that chargers will win…
I think this charger game can be a nightmare to the start of the season… it its a blowout raiders will spiral down rest of season…
I just can see them hanging with SD on defense or ofense…
I wish I could, but recent history suggest otherwise…

lol U wish. I’m gonna get all up in yer @$$ this year… wait… out of jail
September 7th, 2009 at 4:06 pm
You know, I hope this theory about a long term deal getting done is true. Goodell himself said he envisions an uncapped year in 2010. Al isnt afraid to open up the checkbook, obviously, and Seymour could get as much from the Raiders as anyone else. Probably more the way Al is willing to spend money for players that he covets. I really hope this is the holdup. I hope, but somehow I doubt it. I hate to agree with the haters but I cant say that I would blame Seymour for not wanting to come here. Getting traded from a perennial Super Bowl contender to a historically bad team has got to sting a little bit. We shall see, I hope he reports and signs a long term deal because we could certainly use him.
September 7th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Jt it will be a tough game thats for sure but the Chargers were a 8-8 team last year and I really dont see much of an improvement this year. Turner is a weak coach and so is Cable. The next step I would love for the Raiders to is hire Martz as a o-cordinator, he is one of the best in that area. Cables play calling is to predictable. You got to be able to keep the D guessing, it slows them down a step.
