Asomugha shrugs off latest Sapp blast

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Thursday, September 17th, 2009 at 1:40 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Warren Sapp has kept up a running commentary concerning the Raiders which his former teammates either ignore or laugh off as it simply a case of Sapp being Sapp.

During this week’s episode of Showtime’s “Inside the NFL,” when panel members James Brown, Cris Collinsworth and Phil Simms were discussing the Raiders and any confidence gained from a 24-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers, Sapp had an interesting take.

“Oakland plays worse when they have confidence,” Sapp said. “Oakland plays worse when they feel good about themselves.”

Having been through some embarrasing face plants following infrequent victories, cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha didn’t disagree.

“Absolutely,” Asomugha said. “Sometimes you go out and play a great game, whether you win or lose, and then the next week it’s like, `What happened?,’ because you’re still resting on that win or that effort.”

Asomugha didn’t see overly concerned about Sapp’s on-air assertion that the Raiders season is already over, along with the seasons of Detroit, Kansas City, Cleveland and St. Louis.

Asomugha asked if Sapp said that before or after the San Diego game. When told it was after, he expressed little more than mild surprise.

“Oh, you know, it’s his opinion. The guys here, it’s not like we would hear that and, ‘well, ya know, Sapp’s right,’ That’s the guy’s opinion and that’s what we have to deal with. You put that out of your mind and focus on the task at hand. It’s not a big deal at all. And if you didn’t tell me I wouldn’t have even known. That’s pretty much how it is. Guys don’t listen to that stuff.”

It’s not as if Asomugha and teammates who played with Sapp have heard his bombast before.

“That’s the way he is,” Asomugha said. “He’s going to be outspoken and he’s going to speak his mind. Doesn’t mean that everything he says is right.”

More to come following practice and briefing with coach Tom Cable and scheduled interview with defensive coordinator John Marshall . . .

Note: Punt returner Johnnie Lee Higgins was not with the team at the beginning of practice with a shoulder sprain, increasing the likelihood he won’t play against Kansas City.

Someone mentioned Tyvon Branch returning punts. That actually makes a lot more sense then Hiram Eugene.

We are so deep at RB. I would love to see DMC returning punts. A big return would probably really get him going.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sapp’s tough love is designed to get the Raiders head out of their arses.

Aso did not agree that the season is over. If he did, I’d be the first to say fire the guy.

He agreed with Sapp’s assessment that the Raiders would focus on a win or a good effort and not carry it over to the next week.

They accomplished just that last year against Houston and at Tampa.

Sapp is a mouthpiece and always has been.

Reminds me of several other mouthpieces.

  7. Glutten for Punishment Says:

sapp is a loser. if hes soooo good, he woulda helped this team like RS is now

  8. The Real MaddenRaider Says:

As opposed to Nnamdi, an active player, agreeing with Sapp’s assessment that the season is over? Yeh. That’s news.

  9. raidertay Says:

Honestly, who cares what Sapp thinks. If he didnt have somethin crazy to say then he wouldnt be on TV. He knows the game.

  10. LA to TheBay Says:

Kell, I doubt that very much.

At least not by design, but the players should take it as such.

  11. neilb Says:

I don’t think there’s anything more cowardly than an ex-player bad mouthing his old team.If you felt that way why didn’t you say it at the time ? Too busy counting all that money the Raiders gave you and dodging salads ?
What a cheap trick, what a nasty self-serving piece of trash you are Sapp.

  12. The Real MaddenRaider Says:

“Oakland plays worse when they have confidence,” Sapp said. “Oakland plays worse when they feel good about themselves.”

    TRUE.

    Sapp’s doing his job.

  13. LA to TheBay Says:

And actually, that’s a ridiculous statement. Oakland plays well when they have confidence in themselves. When they know they can win. That’s what I saw Monday and I think will spill over into Sunday’s game against KC.

  14. raidertay Says:

Can we talk less about Sapp and more about somethin a lil more prevalent like KC.

BTW, McCallister at Safety would be interesting. I imagined he would be a back up Corner. Makes sense because he can hit. Did he play Safety at all with B’More. Seems like a position change with absolutely no camp to adjust would be difficult.

All of 6 mins MaddenRaider, you’re getting slow.

Al Davis paid him and Sapp didn’t play.If Sapp wants to slag someone off,why doesn’t he check out his own stats from his time with the Raiders.

  17. The Real MaddenRaider Says:

Neilb, it’s none of your business how much money Sapp made with the Raiders. It’s between him and Al Davis. Sapp owes him nothing. It was a transaction. Davis pays him, Sapp plays. The transaction is complete. I could see if Sapp had nowhere else to go and Davis was the only one willing to take him. But that wasn’t the case.

  18. The Real MaddenRaider Says:

You’re right, Oakglenn. Sapp sucked. He was never good. Anything else?

  19. Oakglenn Says:

All Sapp did his entire career was “Dance With the Stars”. In Tampon Bay he had two future Hall of Famers behind him in Derrick Brooks and John Lynch. That made it easy for him to freelance, shoot gaps, and if he missed the play, have two hall of famers cover his ass for him. Once he didn’t have those guys to cover his mistakes he was a very ordinary Defensive Lineman.
Juxtapose that against the one game we saw with Richard Seymour. Seymour was the exact opposite. Think the fact that Trev Scott, Thomas Howard and Mike Huff had very good games had anything to do with Richard Seymour raising the level of everyone around him?? That’s what future Hall of Famers do raise the level of those around them. Sapp was the recipient of that, not the causation.

    OVERALL ANALYSIS

Both the Chiefs and Raiders played surprisingly well in losing efforts last week, and one of these teams is going to be able to boast continued progress after a win in Week 2. Count on that team being Kansas City, which will come in desperate to put a win in the left column before the home faithful. The Chiefs should be able to move the ball on the Raiders, and will benefit from some more JaMarcus Russell mistakes as well. It won’t be easy, but Kansas City will put a disturbing home losing streak behind it and notch the first victory of the Haley era.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Chiefs 17, Raiders 12

Looks like people predicting we really aren’t back. This is a must win and I hope the players are approaching it that way

When we signed Sapp, Oakglenn probably told everyone how Sapp was a future hall of famer and one of the greatest DTs in the history of the game, and would shore up our d line. Now that Sapp’s gone and exposing the team on his new show, Oakglenn’s saying Sapp was never good.

In two years, Oakglenn will be saying the same things about Seymour.

“DOES IT TELL YOU ANYTHING ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION WHEN YOUR TOP STARS, DOWN TO YOUR RELEASED BACKUPS STATE HOW SORRY IT IS TO PLAY FOR THE RAIDERS, AND HOW DYSFUNCTIONAL THE ORGANIZATION IS, FROM TOP TO BOTTOM?”

    Sapp, Burgess, Walter, Moss?

Whatever, they can have their comments.
    —————————————-
Richochet: In other words, I’M RIGHT.
    Yeah, I know.
    But, you forget a few.
    How about TIM BROWN?
Oh..some guy who got you to the SB? RICH GANNON?
What was it he said? Oh yeah..and I QUOTE: “It’s not a tough place to work, it’s an impossible place to work. …… It’s an organization that is, in my opinion, dysfunctional.”
From Barry Sims, to Jerry Rice, to Dominic Rhodes, to Cooper, from Chris Carr to Fabian Washington, to Jordan..player after player after player state the SAME THING WHEN THEY LEAVE THE RAIDERS, THAT IT’S THE WORST PLACE IN THE NFL TO PLAY.
Now..why do you think that is?
Simple question. DO YOU HAVE THE BALLS TO ANSWER IT?

    =========================================

How ’bout Willie Brown? Freddy B? Snake was traded to Houston and is still a Raider.

Richochet: LMAO..you’re picking guys from DECADES AGO. Only been a FEW HUNDRED PLAYERS ON THE TEAM SINCE THEN..and you go that far back? lol..good one, Gomer.
And Snake? HE HATES AL DAVIS..with a passion. Bad example.
And hey, FOR FUN, PICK SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T WORK FOR THE RAIDERS..Willie Brown? Freddy B? Geez..they are, or have been on the payroll, fool.

    —————————————-
Jerry Rice comes and talks to the team, despite retiring a 9er.

Richochet: And YET, on his Sirius radio show, he completely ripped the Raider organization, and Al Davis, and how backasswards the Raider do things?
    Go figure.

    —————————–
How ’bout Plunkett? He got passed up and was given an opportuity win 2 SBs.
Richochet: As usual, you’re confused. Besides the fact what you stated above has NOTHING to do with the topic, Plunkett is ALSO AN EMPLOYEE FOR THE RAIDERS..AS WE SPEAK.
Do you really think someone who’s on the payroll, now, or recently, is going to diss the Raiders? Let’s forget you went back 20 plus years to dig up someone you hoped would help your case.
    It didn’t. It hurt it.
    —————————

Here’s a good one: Rich Gannon. Yeah, same guy who publicly called out Al Davis. You think he has the opportunity to play anywhere else for a SB? Have how many 300 yard passing games? Who drafted Tim Brown and brought in Rice? Zack Crockett? And came back and asked for a job after making his comments? Lol.

Richochet: Again, what’s it with you rambling? Ok, let’s play your silly game. What you’re saying is “Al brought in Gannon (actually, NO HE DIDN”T..BRUCE ALLEN DID..you know..the guy in charge before Al decided to be GM)..but..I digress. What YOU’RE SAYING IS THAT AL BROUGHT SOMEONE IN?
    Oh…uh…ok. And??????
Oh..what you mean to say is “And it riles ya that they then turn around AND TELL THE TRUTH??
What are they supposed to do? Lie?

And again, what’s with the “who drafted’??
point is WHY DO EXPLAYERS POINT OUT HOW BAD IT IS PLAYING FOR THE RAIDERS?

It’s ignorant to run the “who drafted them”. Doesn’t matter WHO BROUGHT YOU IN, it’s HOW THE PLACE IS RUN ONCE YOU GET THERE, and according to all of those explayers, it’s a hell hole.

HEY..I KNOW..let’s keep the list shorter.

Name me the players who, in the last 10 years have left the Raiders, and stated IT’S A GOOD PLACE TO PLAY??
    ==============================

Guys who played like pros? Taken CARE of.

Richochet: Bull…NAME THEM. Oh..and is it possible that you can name someone who’s not grey haired, long retired? You know…in the last 10 years?

Let me guess? This is about the time you state “I’m done”?? LMFAO..too easy.

And you abuse the right to be stupid.

In nine years with TB, was a ProBowl player 7 times, FOOL.
Was defensive player of the year, fool.
Is second all time in sack totals for a defensive tackle.

but you are right, once he got to the Raiders? Like SO MANY PLAYERS BEFORE HIM, his production fell off.

Must be all of those players, right?
    I mean..what a amazing coincidence..though.

    could it be the organization?

Naw…or could it? (rhetorical question, fool)

  37. Oakglenn Says:

Sapp is “exposing” the Raiders MR? Funny, but all his statements point to him worried about what was going on everywhere but the guy lined up in front of him. Maybe if he worried about the guy lined up in front of him, we would have won more games.

  43. The Real MaddenRaider Says:

Sapp’s a journalist now, Oakglenn, not a football player. So, your armchair yapping about his playing career is moot. Sapp’s a damned good journalist, too. He’s ripping the mask off of Oakland.

  44. LA to TheBay Says:

    Wow, Rich.

    Missed ya.

Spent a while Googling a lot of stuff to try to prove me wrong.

The fact is, the Raiders haven’t been very good in a while and it would be tough to tell you about all these great players that have left recently and spoke well of Al and the organization. Why? Not too many great players.

Would that mean we got rid of the dead weight and kept the good ones?

And does dyed hair count? Howie dyes I think. Rod Woodson probably dyes. Romo too.

Snake is always going to be a Raider. I said ‘throw Al or the Raiders under the bus.’ Didn’t say dislike. Snake is not a mouthpiece and if I remember correctly, played well for the Raiders and won ‘em a SB. None of these chumps like Sapp, Moss, etc. even came close.

Lol, and I’m not done and I never will be. Google that, fool.

I’m Gomer? Funny, I dislike many teams in the NFL, but let’s stop being children for a moment and recognize that these are football players playing for teams, not evil, bad men that want to hurt you.

I guess my point is, I couldn’t imagine spending hours at a time on a blog dedicated to a team I hate.

That’s why you don’t hate the team, you hate the organization, probably because you feel you were wronged by it at some point.

Show us on the doll where Al spanked you.

    Who is your favorite team?

  45. ottocrat Says:

Wow, the Jags are short 17,000 for their home opener. We’ve had our problems selling out but, jeez. Get ready to say the L.A. Jaguars. Unless it’s the other team that may not sell out it’s home opener, a little team called the Chargers.

My prediction: We choke against the Chiefs in the same fashion we did to SD, by way of the prevent late in the game. Remember, I called it last week, that we’d be ahead in the 4th and choke. Check and see for yourselves. I even mentioned that it would be by way of the prevent in a few of those comments, too. I hate being dead right. But what can I do? I can’t help being smart. And, I’m calling it again. We will lose to the Chiefs in the same fashion this Sunday. We will have a 4th quarter lead, and lose the game. And we will use a prevent on KC’s winning drive. Later.

Agree with you on the first point, not necessarily the 2nd.

He played on some great defenses and was good at shooting the gap and making sacks and plays in the backfield that would get him a lot of attention. But he also took himself out of a lot of plays with that same glory-hogging style of play.

First off Sapp was out of position at first. He should have went to the pro bowl one year with us when he led all DTs with 10 sacks. My problem with Sapp is not his play he was getting old and of course would have started slipping in play. My problem is as far as I can think NO player has kept digging into the Raiders like Sapp. Everyone has to say something, that comes with losing and not getting what you want but what is it with this guy? He keeps going. He is a punk and a follower to me. It’s the IN thing to do right now to diss the Raiders. Does he think he will be looked at better by following the crowd? That is one reason why I liked him he didn’t care before. He would yell at coaches and give a big FU to everyone, now he is just going along with the crowd.

  55. DirtyBathWater Says:

Sapps mouth is like someones butt hole, no cares to go near it and it stinks, what he said was plain silly because the confidence the raiders showed in the last few games carried over from each game and has continued in this season…. and I don’t see us playing worse but getting better. So Sapp get the salchicha out of ur butt and say something positive for a change……quick story about this jackass, and yes he is a big one too, me and my partner started a detailing business, and his mother was a client of ours for a while, he came by to visit while we were washing his moms car, and this ahole yelled at me and my hommie, telling us to “get this ssssshhhh out of my way so I can park” I wanted to puch his fat behind in the face that day, he isn’t nice in person that’s for sure

I will even say it is probably a little dysfunctional to play for the Raiders. But one thing you can’t question is his desire to win. He wants to win in the worse way. There are teams out there that are 20 million under the cap. Those owners are about making money. Coach Davis is about winning. Unfortunately his stubbornness has led to the Raiders being a losing franchise for the last 6 years. So you guys and gals win. The Raiders are a dysfunctional team. So what! Why ask a randy moss opinion when he was the guy who admittedly drop passes on purpose causing us games? Why ask the opinion of a deangelo hall who admittedly stated he could not cover in man? Why ask the opinion of a warren sapp who admittedly stated he wasn’t concerned about his perfomance while on the team but “getting that money”?

Yes it’s als fault for going out and getting these loser mentality players, but when I look at whats been wrong with this team and I see its players like this have been dragging us down. Why was randy moss traded to the raiders?? He walked out on his team before a game was over and states how he plays when he wants to play… Right there the disease was transmitted. Why was deangelo traded to the raiders, his melt down and disrespect of the coaching staff. Why was sapp here, tb got tired of his mouth and he had nothing left in the tank.

I can call him a fool and still think he’s a fan can’t I? Sometimes you abandon logic and search for anything you can they may get under our skin as Raider fans.

    Besides, 666 isn’t a fool, you are.

    Richochet = jaded

  63. LA to TheBay Says:

Actually, Dmac20, post 61(for now) may be my favorite. Both good points, gentleman.

  64. Raider O Says:

Sapp has issues with the Raiders, and he us outspoken.
    Who cares?!?

    Chris Mac at FS!!
I don’t think it’s due to Huff’s play, but it has to do more with Eugene’s. Also when you have a player like C Mc out there, why not try him at FS. It worked well for Woodson!

  65. LA to TheBay Says:

Maybe you just need anger management? You know..while there they will teach you that accepting your short comings is key to recovery. That maybe your anger is directed at me because I’m the voice of reason, and that you subscribe to the notion of “shooting the messenger”.
In other words, my words of wisdom ring true, and you’re struggling to deal with the truth, hence the feelings of hostility.”

    Ok, Freud.

You’re laughable. And if I do have anger issues, and you are the messenger, and I’m into shooting messengers, why are you f’ing with me?

Jaded fool. Don’t mess with the Nation. You’re the same loser that got punked on the playground, laughed at by the opposite sex, and turned to books and the internet to take your feelings of frustration out on a collection of people who subscribe to the team owned by an organization that wronged you.

Either that or you really hate the Raiders. ‘Hate’ is a powerful word and a powerful emotion. Hate gets a lot of schit twisted and lots of people catching feeling and acting stupidly.

And of all the wrong and evil and pitiful in the world, you hate the Raiders?

I’m done with you, now Rich. You’re exposed.

    How’s that for a psychoanalysis?

  66. RaiderRockstar Says:

every safety on the roster played well on monday.

    eugene, huff, branch & mitchell.

replacing one of them now would be stupid.

we do need a nickel corner and an insurance policy for CJ & Nnamdi though. nobody wants to see Stanford Routt or John Bowie on the field, except the opposing quarterback …

  67. Lynn from Snot Says:

Richocet and his looooooooong posts , are simply Richie overcompensating for his shortcomings.

  68. Norco Bob Says:

I agree with sapp, thats why I have KC winning easily at arrowhead,…wont even be close,…Russell throws 4 picks. Keepin it real.

  69. Lynn from Snot Says:

Sapp came here just for the payday , nothing more nothing less. He was running on fumes when he got here.

  70. LA to TheBay Says:

    RRS

“we do need a nickel corner and an insurance policy for CJ & Nnamdi though. nobody wants to see Stanford Routt or John Bowie on the field, except the opposing quarterback …”

Exactly. Why would he play safety? Makes no sense. Routt is obviously the weak link in the secondary, and I think they’ve been trying to replace him with a vet since the Dallas game.

Which is fine. But I wouldn’t cut him. I’d keep him as the 4th CB and cut Bowie.

  71. LA to TheBay Says:

Bob, weren’t you keepin it real when you said SD would maul the Raiders and win by like 30?

    That it wouldn’t be close?

I’m keepin it real by telling you it will be another good division game with the team that plays smarter winning.

  72. Dmac20 Says:

We play the saaame defens we did when sapp and deangelo was here and look at how it looked on monday night up until the game winning drive, and that was more to do with the desicion making of the D coordinator than our players being able to perform task. The difference is we have real players like Seymour who is a pro and wants to win. Sapp was only good because he had rice and mcfarland taking doubles teams freeing it up for him to shoot the gap. But seymour is a real beast, even with two men on his back and one hand he sacked phillip rivers, things we never saw with sapp. And deangelo can’t blame the raiders scheme as the problem, because nnamndi seems to have much success over there on the opposite side. The culture has changed I believe, no more poor sports to ruin it for us. And the last two years it didn’t help we had a coach more interested in showing up his boss than winning games, while also trying to build up a resume for the first college job opening at the same time.

But thats why people get fired. Because when you don’t do your job it makes the company, manager and owner look bad. Thats been the case so far. A couple of baad fruit thats givin the whole basket a bad name.

  73. nader64 Says:

Reposting from last thread for your reading pleasure:

All of a sudden I like Huff…a little. The good game + comments indicating he gives a hoot (’hoot’ – see what you have reduced me to moderator!?!?)…about his performance are having an effect on me. I had him tagged as apathetic, and it didn’t help that he…, well…sucked.

  74. Dmac20 Says:

Imagin breaking up with a girlfriend and during the breakup you guys have a real bad fallout and she like she hates you. Then someone comes along and wants to find out about your personality , and instead of asking someone credible that knows you well and is around you everyday they ask her(your ex). Do you really believe she’s the person to ask??? No because you know she’s going to say any and everything to make you look bad, and not tell the whole truth. So when they ask these bums thats how I feel about it. From lombardi to hall on down.

  75. Raider O Says:

Al Loves CBs with great Speed, C Mc doesn’t have it anymore. If he plays for the Raiders, he will play FS. IMO

  76. Raider O Says:

    Cut Eugene!!!
    Sign Chris Mc!!!

  77. ottocrat Says:

DC John Marshall takes blame for Chargers collapse, but says they did not play prevent defense. Just a misunderstanding.

    Thu, 17 Sep 2009 22:06:33 +0000

    ——————————————————-

What the hell does that mean, John? You ‘misunderstood’ the lame defense that Al told you to run on that last drive? I mean, we’ve gone through many defensive coordinators, yet we always do the same thing in that particular scenario. And, we always lose. What was that definition of insanity again?

  78. SDRAIDA Says:

I agree I think I would rather have Routt as our 4th DB and move Chris to our 3rd DB instead of trying to convert him to safety.
But I will admit, I only feel this way after seeing Branch playing well and Huff playing ok. With Mitchell waiting in the wings we should be alright.
Maybe that is why Al hasn’t pulled the trigger. Maybe they were thinking about converting him to safety and now see we might be ok at safety.

  79. Dmac20 Says:

I don’t see why the raiders just don’t cut bowie already and bring in chris…

  80. Norco Bob Says:

latobay,..I told you the chargers would win and they did,..period.

  81. Dakota Says:

    Anything interesting going on?

Have we replaced Green or Morris on the o-line yet?

  82. Norco Bob Says:

And Im telling you KC will win,..and they will…keepin it real,..but I will be at denver game anyway,..to boo russell.

  83. Raider Dell Says:

    Norco Bob

Tell Brien his long comment last night on this blog was right on.

    Thanks

  84. raidertay Says:

Im still waiting for DMC to break out into this dynamic back. When is it going to happen? Bush should be starting.

  85. Norco Bob Says:

Clearly mcfadden so far hasnt shown anything.

  86. Norco Bob Says:

No great speed or moves,…Tweets alot though. I had to unfollow him he tweets too much.

  87. Norco Bob Says:

And Morrison, after tough loss his biggest concern on twitter was where to go eat sushi. total loser.

  88. Raider O Says:

As long As Fargas isn’t starting, I’m Happy!!

  89. Norco Bob Says:

    Fargas should start.

  90. Dmac20 Says:

latobay,..I told you the chargers would win and they did,..period.
    —————————–

Yea and you also said it wouldn’t be close, and you were wrong. We almost won, and should have won. You never expected thim to play as well as they did either.
You say jamarcus is gonna throw four picks and I wanna know to who since you’re nostrodomis??? Because I want them On my fantasy this week…jp But yea norco, you chould consider leaying off the narcotics because I can see they’re really frying your brain after comments like that… Put it like this… If jamarcus throws four picks sunday I’ll tell my girl stay home and suck my own dk lol and thats pretty f’n impossible, which is exactly my point it being against kc and all. And if you disagree, name me the pro bowl cb who’s gonna do it…

  91. Raider75 Says:

Raiders are a 3 point underdog this week at KC, but an early 3 point favorite at home against Denver in week 3.

    Raiders will win both games.

I think the Raiders will win the next 3 games against KC, Denver, and Houston to finish the first quarter of the season at 3-1.

  93. Norco Bob Says:

dmac20,..I said they would win and they did,…thats all that matters, if you want to get hungup on score predictions that is your prob,..I pick winners bud.

  94. Norco Bob Says:

    And KC wins sunday easily.

  95. RaiderNation4Life1 Says:

i would rather have mcfadden start…get alot of yards and maybe a touchdown then bring in fargas and i hope since fargas is back it eats up bush time because if it is then its a bad move on cable part i mean fargas is good but i want someone who will get us yards and i see that with mcfadden and bush

  96. Dmac20 Says:

Mcfadden is being misused. He shouldn’t be used up the middle like bettis and ll those guys. They should be giving him toss, misdirecton, and screen plays to get him going. Let Bush, and pound it up the middle.

  97. Dakota Says:

I too feel that you have to consider the source when you hear guys like Lamont Jordan, D. Hall, W. Sapp, Moss, Lombardi etc bash the Raiders.

But why don’t guys like Woodson, Allen, Ritchie come out just as strong in defense of the Raiders? Do they just use the old “if you ain’t got nothing good to say then don’t say jack squat” approach to the issue?

Seems like if things were okay in Oakland, there would be more of the “good” guys coming to the team’s defense. The only guy that is really outspoken that I would take as very credible would be Rich Gannon. He doesn’t have great things to say about the Raiders because of all the ancillary BS he had to try and quell while still trying to win games as QB. He has been very outspoken about the fact that the Raiders don’t have the discipline to draw the line between party time and game time…drinking on flights, partying before games etc…that comes from the top…if Al Davis said to stop it would stop, but since he is okay with it, the players take advantage of it….just as almost any 10 year old kid would take advantage of laid back parents.

So unless we have a strong leader, like another Rich Gannon, we are going to continue to struggle to win….Jamarcus Russell isn’t part of that solution, he is part of the problem, so who is left? Seymour? Nnamdi? Ellis?

Who is going to stand up and demand that the players take their jobs as seriously as possible? Rich Gannon did it while he was here and he was wildly successful because of it, but he wasn’t very popular with some of his teammates…who is going to step into that challenge? Not Tom Cable. We need that very desperately.

  98. Norco Bob Says:

You name me a Raider wr that will catch more then 3 balls sunday.

  99. Lynn from Snot Says:

    Louis Murphy for one

  100. RaiderRetribution Says:

we cannot risk losing DMC to injury returning punts,
we are still trying to get something from the moss trade,
Mr. Morris played great, and so did Mr. Green except for the penalties again, but since there were so few his standout more, which might get him to hold himself accountable.

As long as we keep our penalties less than 6 & turnovers less than 2, we will defeat the Chiefs.

  101. texguy Says:

Norco – you’re sounding more like MR every day….

    You two should hang out.

  102. Norco Bob Says:

Final score sunday KC wins it 34-17

  103. Norco Bob Says:

mcfadden should return punts,..why not?…what the hell else is he doing?

  104. Raider75 Says:

This board sucks. Placing my post way up in the order.

  105. Lynn from Snot Says:

I expect to see Seabass on 4th down take it to the house.

  106. Dakota Says:

    La to the Bay,

Just had some work to do that past couple of days…the Pawn Shop is doing well!

  107. LA to TheBay Says:

    Dakota, what’s going on?

    Better late than never.

Coming in with a great post, too. I would love to see Russell play that role that Gannon did, but don’t see it from him, at least at this point. He’s playing like a rookie and acting like one as well.

I think our leadership comes from guys on the other side of the ball like Ellis, Aso, maybe we’ll see that from Seymour.

    Z. Miller seems to me like a guy that stands up as well and doesn’t take losses lightly.

  108. Dmac20 Says:

Nah nah bob, your prediction is that is was not gonna be competitive. You know when giving your prediction you were expecting it to be a rewind of that new orleans pre game. They won but they didn’t deserve it. The score says the won but the play… Different story. We’ve kicked kc’s rear the past two times we’ve played in kc with less talent and ferocity we’ve shown so far, so I have no reason to believe we can’t win… But its good to prepare for the worse like you do so if a upset does happen you’ll be less upset. But sapp has put a fire under their behinds to get em to come out and play with something to prove again. I fear sproles, ladanian, and rivers more than I fear a beat up cassel, larry johnson and jamaal charles.

  109. RaiderNation4Life1 Says:

i dont think the chiefs will score more than 30 on us if our d plays like they did monday then there is nothing to worry about except the secondary

  110. RaiderRetribution Says:

Contra stop telling me to slow down~!
I just lose everything I typed!
How the hell (it’s in the Bible) am I supposed to know everyone else is typing too fast.

  111. RaiderRetribution Says:

    2-1

  112. Norco Bob Says:

dmac,..I already have my parlay card from tahoe in,..took KC minus 3.5,..also took the over…38.5.

  113. RaiderNation4Life1 Says:

3-1 we can beat the texans we really should be 4-0 then maybe we will start loosing but since the whole tuck rule monday we will be 3-1

  114. Norco Bob Says:

Larry Johnson has as many big games vs the raiders as LT. LJ gets about 160 sunday.

  115. Dmac20 Says:

And yes louis murphy will possibly have more than 3 cathes sunday. Think he had 4 for 87 yards and two td’s realistically against a team that consist of pplayers such as antonio cromartie, antoine cason, quentin jammer, and eric weddle. Now you name me a credible db on the chiefs team thats gonna pull off four picks before the guys I just mentioned???

  116. Norco Bob Says:

Sad to see some fans still blame refs for raiders choking.

  117. Norco Bob Says:

dmac I dont care bout kc corners,..Im thinking of russell,..he sucks,..4 picks.

  118. Terrapin Says:

OMG, as soon as I post that NFLN shows a sky view of a JR to ZM deep middle throw …and guess what?

DHB was streaking down the sideline, he pulls the safety to him leaving a ENORMOUS VOID IN THE DEFENSE and ZMiller is WIDE OPEN …you could have parked a tractor trailer in that hole.

1st down Raiders. Go munch on that haters. Oopps sorry “fans”

  119. LA to TheBay Says:

The Chiefs run defense is questionable.

    Our run game is superior.

That is the key to winning, as well as being smart and making high percentage plays and STAYING aggresive on defense.

If Seymour looked that good with no practice, imagine how good he’ll look with some practice.

  120. Dmac20 Says:

.Larry Johnson has as many big games vs the raiders as LT. LJ gets about 160 sunday.
    ————————–

Yea two years ago, beause he aint do sht against the raiders last year. We had em shut down check the stats… And lt has owned us for about the last 11 games but what did he do this passing monday??? So point not valid

  121. 909RaiderLifer Says:

    Happy 82nd. Birthday, George Blanda….

  122. Dmac20 Says:

dmac I dont care bout kc corners,..Im thinking of russell,..he sucks,..4 picks.

    ————————

Ok bob you say you don’t care about kc’s corners, but tell me, if you know they have lesser talent then what makes you believe jamarcus will throw 4 picks when he din’t throw 4 picks against a team with more talent??? That doesn’t make sense. No matter how weak he is. If you agree their cbs are not as good as sd’s then shouldn’t he have a better game. If you can almost beat your big bro I don’t see why you would have trouble against your little sister…

  123. Dmac20 Says:

If Seymour looked that good with no practice, imagine how good he’ll look with some practice.

There’s a difference between CONFIDENCE and ARROGANCE.

Arrogance is what Russell has. That’s dangerous.

Confidence includes humility, which is what someone like Asomugha and Morrison have. That’s not a bad thing and never hurt anybody.

Keep building your confidence Raiders. Majority of the world liked what they saw Monday compared to the past several years. I wish I was there, and more so I wish you guys could pull it off. But, there’s 15 more games and then some this season. Once Russell gets a consistent passing game-whether it be his accuracy or WR’s not running the routes-we wont have to worry about our D.

  126. manassamauler Says:
