Gannon won’t be the story

Former Raiders quarterback and CBS analyst Rich Gannon went straight from the elevator to the network booth in the press box and appears intent on reporting the story rather than being the story.

A member of a local radio crew attempted to get inside the booth to visit with a friend and was turned away. He was told only essential personnel were allowed and that they were on “high alert.”

Gannon was the target of public comments from a Raiders spokesman who said the club would attempt to ban the former Raiders MVP from a production meeting for “negative” comments. Gannon was eventually allowed to participate in the meetings.

Former Raiders running back Lamont Jordan had a friendly visit with some early-arriving fans in the Black Hole and walked along the railing shaking hands with Raiders fans. He also greeted Darrius Heyward-Bey, the Raiders first-round draft pick and like Jordan a Maryland alum.
