Gannon’s response

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Tuesday, September 29th, 2009 at 9:28 am in Oakland Raiders.

Here’s how Rich Gannon responded to the Raiders saying he was no longer welcome in Alameda and their unsuccessful attempt to have him removed from the broadcast booth:

“Let me just say this. I tried to take the high road on that situation,” Gannon said on his Sirius Satellite Radio show. “It was unfortunate and it is what it is. I will say this: I really feel like the organization should care less about who is broadcasting the games and more about the product on the field and putting people in the stands. I think that’s the bottom line. I wish, certainly, the Raiders well. But it is frustrating to watch the team right now.”

What a grouch. The guy couldn’t find a single positive thing to say about that 23-3 loss to Denver.

Of course, if Gannon and CBS wish to avoid the whole situation in the future, they’ll make sure he doesn’t do any more Raiders games.

The fact that Gannon couldn’t catch a flight and missed the production meeting Saturday is a hint maybe the Raiders are getting their way on this through John Herrera’s public appeal. When has Gannon ever been late for anything?

Hey Dude .. tough guy behind the net

Debating defnese with you is like debating with a 5 year old. I prefer to spend my time googling your past idiotic statements. It’s more satisfying.

Good nite nation. Going to enjoy sitting on the toilet reading all of of dudes past comments. Hey Dud, how is USC doing? LMAO

  • Dude

The bet was for game 1. And he was hurt so…..Nice try. Keep dodging the fact that you cant back up your comments.

1- Said the D was good
2- Cable was the best in years
3- Mike Mitchell is a good player

All dumb and all comments you cant back up.

  • Dude

LOL!!!! Another one goes down. My list is getting longer by the day. COWARD!!

  • ritaskid

@ alisgod……Dude is a retard. don’t waste your time with his comments. he’s probably 12…..but Mike Mitchell is going to be a hell of a player. He’s fast like all the other Raider bums but he plays and hits HARD!!!!

  • ritaskid

    YEP…..AND?

  • Dude

    Rita,

    You watch the Denver game?

  • ritaskid

    what about it?

  • Dude

    Rita(Alisgod),

Howd Mitchell do when he tried to tackle Moreno?

  • ritaskid

how many safeties have ever had a RB break a tackle on them? huh? any idea?….no, cuz your stupid. like I said, you must be 12. don’t waste my time telling me about one play. I’ve seen him in college and I saw his preseason and the first three games….you probably didn’t notice that he’s the first guy down the field on punt return coverage and gets the tackle every time either. BTW, did you see Knowshon Moreno in college?….he broke a lot of tackles, which is why he was the first back taken, meanwhile, Mitchell was a middle round pick who was actually about to go to the Bears before the Raiders snatched him. Anyway, don’t waste my time. You obviously don’t know football

  • priesttj

SnB and Jhill, you guy’s need some cheese with that whine. We have a very young team that’s learning on the fly, you have to expect that this would be part of this season if you’re realistic. Russell is just too young to read defense and get everyone aligned and make sure that he and the recievers are on the same page.

I watched Bret Fav-Rey struggle badly vs the 49ers due to unfamiliarity with WR’s he and Bernard Berrian can’t connect fro the very sme reasons tha DHB an Russell aren’t connecting. This game is too violent and too fast as many have called it a game of inches. You have to have QB and WR reading the same thing at the same time. Now what is the probability of that happening with rookie WR’s and a very young QB?

In the second half of that game Russell went strickly with the short passing game because the young WR’s weren’t adjusting their routes based on the defense.

Unfortunately the checkdowns went nwhere because Denver knew they were coming. Denver played a great defnsive game against an incompetent offense that was stripped of it’s power, the running game.

Our WR’s do not make sight adjustments and give Russell a target, instead they run the play called forcing Russell to throw into coverage because they don’t know how to get open. If Russell had a great route runner, just one he would fair much better but these kidsare getting their asses kicked by aggressive DB’s that aren’t going to let them run clean routes.

  • ragin

LA will take the team back If not them another city, then you guys won’t have to worry about blackouts cuz they won’t be in your market…,

  • priesttj

And until they get to the point where they can absorb the bump and stay on the route or adjust and get open this passing game will struggle………..period

    Morning guys…

  • priesttj

I was very impressed with Mitchell his moxey is going to be a great addition as he learns the defense. He is a very toough competitor. He is just really late right now on reads but that will change with reps.

We have 4 very good safeties. I realy like th makeup of this team but it’s extremely young and at times it shows and it isn’t a very pretty picture.

DMC has GOT TO GROW UP NOW!!! and we need more MBush desparately.

  • armond

priest we are suppose to win every game didnt u know that? the world will end as we know it because we lost our 2nd game out of 3. its still early but we are suppose to give up on the season. we know its a young team but alot of people here dont seem to get it. we also dont have our whole team yet and cables playcallin isnt helping us either. he refuses to stick to our strenghts until that passing game slowly gets in order. until he realizes that this will continue.

  • http://www.actionext.com/playlist_57486.html La Milicia Negra

Yo JERRY AND THE MODs… what about all your talk about banning guys that didnt behave according to your code???

I believe ritaskid, should be banned he clearly breaks your no-no’s

  • armond

ritaskid where did i say anything about next year. i believe we can win a bit this year if certain guys step up and if cable runs this team the way he is suppose to. u have no choice but to wait cuz young teams dont develope overnight. we have a young TEAM, not a team with young players. jets ravens falcons have more veterans players than us who are established. they also have head coaches who have a complete grasp on what they need to do. we have to be patient whether u like it or not.

He should be on our 53 as the 3rd RB. DMac should be the permanent slot receiver. The RB’s should be Bush, Fargas & Rankin. That is of course if we had someone in personnel who knew what the hell they are doing – which we don’t. Rankin = the next Sproules. Our loss – again.

  • Culebra

Looking back on the game I can’t help but notice the position that Denver’s first drive put us in. I think the defense played horrendously. The goal line stance was great but had us pinned, and Cable’s bonehead play-calling there doomed us. 10 points right there! And i seriously thought it could’ve been 14. Had that defense of ours started the game well, we might’ve just lost by 10 points. 13-3. Not as glaring as it seemed in reality.

Anyone who thinks that LA wants ANYTHING to do with the Raiders is crazy.
When a team gets into that market it will have to have had much recent sucess and unfortunately we don’t qualify.
    ========================================================

Van Heathen is right. The Raiders are not going anywhere near LA. And they are not going to expand the league right now. And SD has just filed to keep the team in San Diego County. That only leaves one option: Say Hello to your Los Angeles Forty Niners!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Raider-DEE

I cant believe people are actually talking about drafting Tim Tebow!! JaMarcus may not be the answer but already jumping on the tebow band wagon seems like a very stupid thing to do!!

    Pretty pathetic!!

  • Raider-DEE

Jaguars are the only option to move to L.A…l.a. does not want the raiders, rams, or chargers…..

Besides.Ed Roskie said the team that moves to l.a. must be for sale!!

  • JB

JaBeefRoll is awful right now but he will get a little better with time. As long as he can hand off 85% of the time he’ll do. We need smash-mouth linemen. That’s what we need to draft.

OLT – move Super Mario to RT
    C – big, mean, tough & bright
    RG – same as C
    DT – Another Seymour type
    MLB – A run stopper
    C/G – Back-up
    DT – Back-up
    OT – Back-up

Games are won in the pits. Championships are won with defense.

  • priesttj

Armond, post #518 is on the money, if we don’t except the fact that we have to play great defense and run the football we will have some very frustrating games. The formula the 49ers are using is exactly what we should be doing. Run Bush and hit them with DMCon the perimeter but DMC must become more reliable That first play when Russell ran the screen to him he has to d something with that football. If picks up 10+ yards we are different. But he slips and falls and then fumbles………….uuuggh! man! this guy has got to get his groove on. He is so dangerous in open field but he rarely gets there because he’s always falling down.

DMC should be our Percy Harvin but we’re trying to make him OJ Simpson, he’s just not that player. Get him out in space and get him the football. Run Bush inside an screen him. And this is a completely different team. Run Fargas and Bush an use DMC smartly to isolate him on LB’s.

Hell put DMC in the slot and let him go to work.

  • http://www.actionext.com/playlist_57486.html La Milicia Negra

what about this, make Jamarcus our RT, and re-invent the wildcat, get the lineman to make some trick passes…. or is that illegal, LOL…. dammit =)

  • armond

dmc will make plays this weekend preistt. that oline needs to dominate in the running game as well. ilike mitchells energy as well imma tell u that branch brings the wood with every tackle also. cj and namdi have been pretty good tackling and jamming guys at the line. if only our lb’s would play that physical. i still say kelly has got become a force now with seymour and ellis on that dline. he has no excuse to be disappearing from games like he does.

  • http://www.actionext.com/playlist_57486.html La Milicia Negra

    BHP…

    I hope you mean “accept”…

  • armond

priest we pretty much agree on everything except this dmc between the tackles issue. he is a feature back not some change of pace guy. he needs touches to be effective. he may not get going until his 12th carry. he doesnt wear down like some think. he should run every kind of running play possible along with pass routes. he should also be used in the wildcat 3-5 times a game. the way houston nutt used him is the way we should use him. the coaches just dont use any imagination with him. the problem is bush is also a workhorse who needs touches. i say let them touch the ball 35-40 times total for now to see how it works. thats passes and runs total.

  • JB

DMac doesn’t ave the right build for RB. He’s top heavy with thin pins. Think of him as a cheetah. He fast and maneuverable in the open but he’s NOT a close quarters banger. He’s goes down in high winds. He will never be a between the tackles runner. Just not going to happen. Using him as a RB screen all the time is not going to work either. The only way he’s a threat every time is if he’s in the slot, as a receiver mismatched on a LB. He does have good hands so why not use him where he can contribute?

  • http://RAIDERS Oakglenn

Raider Dee that article was a complete POS. First off, Tollner had nothing to do with Air Coryell, and was not near the “Greatest Show on Turf” teams. They should have said, Tollner was the offensive coach for a couple of Jim Kelly/James Lofton Buffalo Bills team, and oversaw a very disappointing SD offense under Dan Henning. If that article cannot get Tollner’s basic credentials right, why would any other part of it be deemed reputable??

  • priesttj

T Kelly’s last game was very disappointing. He has to be a force inside………….period. Morrison is leaving a lot to be desired and I know they exposed him with those iso’s, but he has to be more physical inside.

Armond I’ve waited a lng time to se safety play lik we’re seeing this year it is outstanding from all 4 guy’s. Our corner play is very good to outstanding. Rickey Brown and T Howard have played great at times. Morrison is still MIA.

If they would get DMC outside and ge him the ball the same way the use Percy Harvin and Reggi Bush he would be a great addition. He is not a great HB but he can play there at times and give us some juice. But the running game must be Bush and Fargas IMHO.

  • JB

Get Rankin back now by adding him to our 53 man squad. He can & will contribute.

Fix this damn blog: Post timing and posting too quick message.

  • priesttj

JB, I said that a million times before we drafted DMC but NO ONE listened.

  • Raider-DEE

It was a bad team loss….with JMAC and DMAC playing worse than anybody else!!

I dont worry about DMAC…..I wish I could say the same for JMAC?

  • priesttj

Armond, DMC canot take that pounding if you play him there consistently he will have a very short career. He is cut way too high (long legs) doesn’t have the cutting ability and cannot string moves together. He lacks real vision in the hole and cannot jump cut. If you use him sparingly as a HB and split him out as well as in the slot he’ll have a great career and put up some serious #’s. If you try to make him AP he will last 4 years max.

    *******************
He’s on Seattle’s practice squad. He can be claimed from there and signed if he’s added to a 53 man squad. At least that’s how I understand the issue. I will not forget him as he can ultimately be Bush’s Sproules if we can get him back. Fargas will do but 3 is always better than 2 & Fargas has a history with injuries.

  • http://RAIDERS Oakglenn

Priest I have to agree Kelly was a BIG disappointment in the last game. The only time he got ANY penetration, he was actually DUPED on a designed screen play that LET HIM rush up field, and then they had a four lineman convoy lead the back down the field for 26 yards early in the 2nd half. Nice one TK! Cut his fat lame ass!

priest dmc isnt a great back yet but he will be. u gotta be patient with him just like u want guys to be with russell. he is better than reggie bush. give dmc more carries and youll see. we need to use dhb like the vikes use harvin. morrison is soft as hell in the middle. i like him but he doesnt pop people like we need him to. on those shallow crosses he shouldve played up a little bit and attacked the cross. not once did he angle the slot (marshall gaffney) to the middle and pop them as soon as the ball was thrown.
