[...] Rockstar, after watching Russell the past few seasons, I have to admit that I suspect someone else took the Wonderlic for him…or that the test results were mixed up with someone else…or that he really got a 2 plus a 4 point curve for a total … So a 24 of 50 is, 48%, and it’s not like there is trigonometry or European History on the exam . I bet most all regular posters on here would get at least in the high 20’s or low 30’s. Dakota Says: September 30th, 2009 at 8:15 am …Continue Reading… [...]

Get a grip on reality. Most of the posts here talk about getting a back here or a wideout there or even a QB. You are missing the reality of building a team.
The truly great teams the Raiders had began with drafting and developing solid
O-lines and D-lines. The recent Raider concept is to do the reverse. They draft
poorly (no credible Linemen) iffy backs and WR's or trade for Randy Moss with no visible means of support. We can't use a Moss with no O-lne or competant QB. This all points back to Al and his genius for organization-not. Historically for the Raiders, their great years came when they had Ron Wolf finding the
talent through drafts and good trades to stock the team. The Raiders also had
an ability to find non flashy over achievers. Seen anything like that lately? I think
not. So, since this all begins and ends with Al, the only way it changes is with AL! Actually Al cannot change at this point because his time is long past. His
son Scott is a possibility since he is not senile and has watched his father run the team into the ground. From what I have read, he would most likely reach out to smart people ( Madden, Wolf etc.) that wouldn't have to deal with the old fart
like others who have had the Al experience. At this point, any serios Raider fan with a brain could get better results than Al and Co.

It does not make a difference if we signed miller or not, yeah he might break free for a touch down her and there but the bottom line is we need our OFFENSE to produce. Dumbmarcus (Bag O Doughnuts) Russell is no the answer, never will be. He is a box of rocks with no leadership skills and that is going to get us nowhere but a top five pick again. That being said we should throw in Gradowski, or Frye, at least they will manage the game better. I really think we have a decent team, We just need a QB who can manage our offense. Thank god I am working sunday so i wont have a chance to see the raiders fall on there face again, as long as Russell is the QB we will suck

# LA to TheBay Says:

RRS

I agree for the most part, but if you think about it, many of our so-called busts recently were “sure things” (Gallery, Huff, Russell), wheras at least one reach (Aso) panned out more than nicely.

Al, the draft gurus, and pretty much everyone else in the world, felt the Raiders needed a QB that year. It was a two-horse race, and Russell’s arm made him the guy.

If it wasn’t the Raiders, it would have been someone else in need of a QB in the top 10.

I think the real problem was not having a solid veteran be The Guy for a min and let Russell sit (did wonders for Aaron Rodgers).

Instead we had vets, but McCown and Culpepper certainly left a lot to be desired.
==============================================

How many players that Raider "fan" has been calling bust have come around and developed into excellent players in recent years?? Nnam, Gallery, Chaz, Mario, and now Huff

Good morning Nation,

See this article on the the last thread, wanted to post it again for the morning crew. Of course a bunch of unnamed sources, but it doesn’t help anything:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/263687-oakland-raiders-is-jamarcus-russell-betraying-raider-nation
==================================================

In this article condemning Russell the writer claims that Tollner was a disciple of Air Coryell and one of the "Greatest Show on Turf" coaches. Wrong and wrong. The closest Tollner got to Air Coryell was he was living in San Diego at the same time but had nothing to do with them, and was on the "Ground Chuck" coaching staff, not the "GSOT." In other words if this writer can't even get well known facts right, why would anyone believe a bunch of unnamed sources???? In other words there is a lot to be pissed off about, but this is "article" is just crap.

RRS

"Russell doesn’t belong in the same sentance as Nnamdi, Gallery or Huff. those guys contribute."

Of course they didn't contribute right away, did they?

Yes, you are absolutely correct about the second part of your post, with regards to Russell not being the only guy to come into a losing team.

But, think of the atmosphere. This is the Raiders we're talking about. You see how Atlanta got things done once they snagged Ryan.

They put pieces around him, same as Davis did Russell, but there is also a competant GM and HC there.

Russell needs to step up and be the leader DESPITE the mess, not make excuses or let others like myself, living vicariously through him (lol, for you, Ricky), make excuses for him.

He hasn't gotten the job done. Hopefully he gets some help, because he's our QB until further notice.

just get the ball in our playmaker's hands, most teams give DHB a cushion so hit him with a short pass on the line of scrimmage and let him try and make someone miss, get to these other guys and get it out of JRuss hands.
