Miller returns, Bowie to IR
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009 at 11:40 am in Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders placed defensive back John Bowie on injured reserve to make room for Justin Miller, who will return kickoffs Sunday against the Houston Texans.
Guard Brandon Rodd was added to the practice squad. Although Louis Rankin has a locker with a name plate and is still full of equipment,, the running back was signed to the practice squad of the Seattle Seahawks.
More to come later . . .

Gus,
Nah, we released him from the 53 man roster to promote Holland to return kicks instead.
He had to clear waivers, and Seattle most likely beat us to the punch. He’s a U Dub guy, so it makes sense. No reason we can’t get him back if he gets cut again, I don’t think.
We put Bowie on IR to get J. Miller to return kicks.

I’d rather see us use one of the Burgess picks on a QB as an insurance policy.
Late round pick, no problem. Another top 10 QB commanding top 10 dollars and top 10 playing time?
We won’t cut ties with Russell for some time, IMO.

September 30th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
It does not make a difference if we signed miller or not, yeah he might break free for a touch down her and there but the bottom line is we need our OFFENSE to produce. Dumbmarcus (Bag O Doughnuts) Russell is no the answer, never will be. He is a box of rocks with no leadership skills and that is going to get us nowhere but a top five pick again. That being said we should throw in Gradowski, or Frye, at least they will manage the game better. I really think we have a decent team, We just need a QB who can manage our offense. Thank god I am working sunday so i wont have a chance to see the raiders fall on there face again, as long as Russell is the QB we will suck
September 30th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
2010 is going to be an uncapped year so it will be a great time to get rid of players without having to worry about it destroying the salary cap.
September 30th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
Could it be that DMAC is underperforming, because of that turf toe last year? He’s still wearing those Nikes and I do recall him wearing Addidas in college.
September 30th, 2009 at 12:38 pm
One thing about Tebow, the team that gets him will not have to worry about his work ethic. I don’t know if he will make a good NFL quarterback, but he is intelligent and he will work hard.

All draft picks next year need to be used on linemen on both sides (OC, OG, OT DT and LB’s). We are set at saftey, CB, RB, TE and WR for next year. A GOOD young, smart QB would be nice also. Will any of this happen. More than likley the answer is no…

Denver has very good players on their offensive and defensive lines. But what really killed us is McFadden’s three fumbles. Think I am kidding?? Go watch the tape on NFL.com. In fact just watch the first two plays. You see McFadden cough up the ball that results in an 8 yard loss. Russell hits Bush on a nice pass in the flat for a good gain the next play but not near enough to overcome “McFumblors” mistake. Then “McFumblor” coughs it up again at midfield on the drive where we actually got points. Then, McFumblor coughs it up again at the Denver 4, sealing the loss.

No reason for the Raiders to draft a QB we can’t develop them. It would be a waste of time and talent. Our only luck is to find one who has already been schooled on someone elses bench and bring him over with lots of cash and candy.

Actually, I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea for Lal to take the WRs to basketball camp. Learn to box out defenders, shield the ball from them, extend for the rock in the post. Actually jump for the thing.
As far as I’m concerned, Zach Miller is our best WR at this point. Let’s hope Chaz is in good form when he gets back, hopefully in time for H-Town, but I would still prefer he wait another week just to be sure he’s close to as 100 as possible and ready to rock.

He’s a smart kid, a hard worker, a leader and a winner. plain & simple. thats what you want in a QB. may not be able to throw 70 yards downfield, but who cares? He’s accurate. He can get the ball to the playmakers on offense. He won’t hold the O back or put the defense in a position to fail, like JR does

For all the Al Davis haters out there, I have a question, if all steps down, dies, etc.. and his son Mark takes over, what makes you think anything will be any different?
September 30th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
This is my take on the Raider Hating that is so rampant lately. Look at it this way. All the “current” media, all of them, news, internet, tv, etc.. even broadcasters are at the age now where they once either played against the Raiders or rooted against the Raiders. The Raider teams they played or rooot against at that time were some of the best teams to ever dawn the Silver and Black. Tom Jackson, ESPN, as an example. Jim Nance (former player), Dan Marino, Boomer, Shannon, the list goes on and on. All former players who were smacked around by the Raider or watched their favorite teams lose to the Raiders. With all this being said, F THEM. F THEM ALL. They are just haters. We will return, and for the FIRST time in my life, I admit, it will only happen when Al Davis isn’t physically attached to this team anymore. He must go.
