Tight end Zach Miller, who said during the open locker room session he was cleared to be on the field, was indeed with his teammates in a helmet and sweats as warmups and drills concluded.
“Most all of the symptoms are gone,” Miller said. “So I’m almost 100 percent. Not quite there but almost.”
I’m working from home because of virus issues with my laptop, but colleague Steve Corkran relayed the following pre-practice information:
– Coach Tom Cable is still working extensively with the offensive line, with Jim Michalczik essentially a bystander.
– Jonathan Holland and Hiram Eugene were taking turns returning kickoffs. Cable said Wednesday Holland would return kickoffs.
– Safety Mike Mitchell was hobbling after tweaking his right knee during a special teams drill.

I love fried chicken. got no problems with that whatsoever. if you’re an athlete you gotta take care of your body. that means working out and watching what you eat. he looks like a sloth out there, so it’s no surprise that he’s not doing the things expected of an NFL player, especially a QB (which is probably the most difficult position to play)
I’ve heard plenty of fat jokes about Jared “hefty lefty” Lorenzen, but guess what? HE’s a BACKUP! he’s not in the national spotlight and no team is counting on him to lead them to victory. he was also undrafted, not #1 overall

Reports keep saying the Nick Miller has a broken bone in his leg. The truth of the real reason why nobody has seen Miller since preseason is one day at practice one of JR’s flunkies forgot to bring his snack of 60 piece McNuggets. JR was so mad and so hungry he just decided to get his boyz to hog tie Nick Miller. Once they had him tied up they pour BBQ sauce all over him and JR ate him. It’s really too bad cuz Nick Miller I thought was gonna be good. Let this be a lesson. Make sure you bring JR his daily snacks.

Favre is a complete idiot. Worse than dumb. But it barely affects his play, thus the lack of comment. And his leadership and passion are exemplary.
Remember, no one was calling Jamarcus dumb at the end of last season. Winning a few games with good QB play makes you look brilliant.

notice i said probably make the pro-bowl im not convinced he’s smart enough to be able to know which person to block.
he would probably be blaming cooper for not blocking the defensive end that’s why gradowski got sacked 11 times in one day.

Im going to answer and question your points in order.
- BY no means am I defending a player or a Blogger I read what you said I’m just contributing to the post.
- His demeanor on the sideline does not equate into being dumb. I have never seen Eli Manning be fiery whatsoever. Remember when he was being called a bust early on his career? Yet another Southeastern QB with a calm demeanor. It’s how most of the Southeastern players conduct themselves.
-Many Coach references: Last time I checked this guy is 22years old maybe 23 now. This maybe the context he works in i.e. Raider Organization 2 head coaches 3 offensive coordinators 3 different play books. In roughly 19 games and just about 1yr. If you can present to me a QB who can be successful str8 out of college within this type of football context I will show you a QB who will struggle.(who was the last successful drafted Raider QB? Raiders traditionally do not groom Rookie QB’s)
- Carelessness regards to his weight I don’t see how somebody being a big player his whole career can be a co relation to being DUMB? Some players have weight problems last time I checked this is Pro Football and he is still an athlete that can better than 75% of the starting QB’s in the league. You find me 6 more mobile QB’s than JRussell than I will retract my statement.
- Manner of speech: Speech has never equated to intelligence. Obviously he is from the deep south and if you have recently been through the deep south then you know people speak differently then those in CA. Or Michigan, or in NY.
_ His Idiot Haircut- I don’t like his haircut myself but this is the year 2009 and we are melting pot of multiple cultures including the media culture. That obviously does not equate to being dumb. Maybe whack but hardly not dumb when many,many players are sporting similar hairdo’s.
-Garcia and Bowe never said he was dumb. But I maybe wrong but I am pretty sure they didn’t say dumb.
_ His inability to affectively audible- I can count on my hands how many times he has audibled. But audible play calls is a whole team execution versus his sole execution. Yet again I don’t see where dumb comes into play.
I agree calling someone dumb may not be prejudice but there seems to be some Raider fans out there who may feel that they are. Or to the same account some Raider Fans maybe making the same inference because of the color of his skin.

I’m riding with da Raiders until the wheels fall off!!! The team is young and inexperienced at all of the key offensive positions and playing with a patchwork line. I’m hoping they can get it together soon.

I think JR actually has below average intelligence. That has nothing to do with his color. McNabb on the other hand I think is extremely intelligent as was Steve McNair & Doug Williams and even Vince Young. JR though I think has gotten through life so far without having to be challanged mentally. I also think if they brought in someone who he could relate to better he would be further along (i,e Doug Williams). JR just leaves himself open to jokes and laughs because of how he acts.

Raiders would have to play a virtually perfect game to beat the Giants. Their D-Line will eat our O-Line up. If we can get a few turnovers, be able to run the ball and JR plays like he did against TB last year just maybe they have a chance. Giants though are just too good at running the ball and pass rush is too dominating. Hoping for the best, but also have to be realistic too.

G-men’s front four are really good at getting to the QB. If we can finally run the ball effectively and not turn the ball over we should be able to be competitive. I mean you would think they would be willing to step up and be tired of hearing ex-players like Boomer Esiason roast the organization. At least it will be on TV. And no one expects us to be even close in this game.

I like JaMarcus. This is an “outside, looking in” perspective.
Seems like a good kid.
He’s young. Mabey His work ethic is not…yet…optimum.
Work ethic is taught/learned. It’s not some “God Given” attribute.
Cable understands this. If JaMarcus applies Himself and is willing to learn, I’m confident He can play at a high level for many years.
In spite of the last few weeks.

Well I gotta see some definite improvement..I ws at the Denver game and it was pretty ugly. I want Jr to succeed more than anything. BTW I’m from L.A. I’m curious to get your guys thoughts on the chances of Uncle Al coming back down this way with a new stadium in the works

Until the O-line is fixed…
1. Getting rid of the ZBS. (Cable has been unable to install it properly here and as head coach, he doesn’t have time to put his entire focus coaching the o-line.)
2. Drafting and spending money on bringing quality players to this squad.
3. Get rid of the current trash.
… this team will continue to struggle.
Perhaps that is Al and Cable’s plan.
Work on the passing game this season and bring the young WRs along.
Then, spend next offseason and draft upgrading the O-line.
Raiders to the Super Bowl in 2010! LOL!!!!!!

No matter what I say, my heart speaks the truth.
My heart “weeps” at the injustice suffered by all races, no matter the color. People are cruel and evil runs amuk. For thousands of years people have suffered.
My heart weeps for the overweight and the infirmed, the addeled?, the old of all races and nationalities.
Yet I can look at a black man (or a white man) and have enough common sense to say I dont like that dude and I dont want to be around him.
I know full weel the ramnifications of judgeing books by their covers. So be it, better safe then sorry. This world is a dangerous place.

Oh, right, nobody who’s a racist likes black athletes. You know Ty Cobb’s favorite player was Jackie Robinson, right? Every black quarterback, without fail, gets their intelligence and “mental quickness” questioned, even some of the smartest QB’s in the game like Williams, Cunningham and Moon. Vick, Young, Kordell Stewart, every last one. There’s a lot of evidence there that this type of criticism is unique to black players. I’m racking my brain right now trying to find a single white QB that ever was questioned like that, let alone a whole list. Hell, most of you are old enough to remember when there were NO black QB’s, because they thought they didn’t have the “mental quickness”. And you can’t even entertain the faintest notion that some of this stuff is possibly just a tad racially motivated? Have an open mind.
Racism hasn’t magically disappeared, and you aren’t necessarily not a racist because you like black athletes, or have black friends, or whatever else you might say to make yourself feel better. Part of not being racist is having the strength to look inside and say “hey, am I being racist” or “is this possibly racially charged”? When you can’t do that, when all you can do is laugh, insult or roll your eyes and talk about the “race card”, maybe there’s a reason for that. So I hope maybe that’s a little food for thought, and maybe I can heighten the level of discourse.

Why has everything today been a race issue? This is a football team, talk football! I might be dating myself, and this might be before many people here were even born, but we had a slogan to combat the ugly-ness that is pervading this blog. It was “COLOR HIM BROTHER, COLOR HIM BLOOD”. There was no color, there was a team working to bust the opponent’s heads. Maybe Al isn’t as senile as Punks make him out to be, He has countionuously led this league in the promotion of people of color or otherwise. My hat is off too him, even the now loudmouths he promoted that are now backstabbing him. Their sorry butt’s wouldn’t be in the positions they now hold, if it wasn’t for Al’s forward thinking. After they get the B-slap, they need to remember where their sorry Butts came from!
