First quarter: Raiders 7, Eagles 3

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, October 18th, 2009 at 1:52 pm in Oakland Raiders.

Scoring

Phil_FG David Akers 45, 2:27

Oak_Zach Miller 86-yard touchdown from JaMarcus Russell (Sebastian Janikowski kicks PAT), 2:06

Notes:

– Raiders bid to go up 14-3 taken away when Stanford Routt’s interception and touchdown called back for pass interference. Raiders also get unsportsmanlike conduct on bench area. Eagles at Oakland 43 when quarter ends.

– A routine pass play on first down gets the Raiders a spectacular result _ an 86-yard touchdown play from Russell to Miller. Louis Murphy threw two key blocks, the first on Quinten Mickell, the second on Ellis Hobbs.

– DeSean Jackson stretches out for 51 yard strike from McNabb against Chris Johnson. Eagles get little else, settle for 45-yard Akers field goal. Blitzing Thomas Howard forces third-and-2 incompletion.

– Another possession, no first downs, Russell throws 5-yard gain to Todd Watkins on third-and-6. Shane Lechler punts Eagles back to the 11 _ smart move to punt, given play of Raiders defense so far.

– Raiders turnover doesn’t convert to Eagles points. Eagles can’t get first down, David Akers misses 43-yard field goal attempt. Nnamdi Asomugha not on field when McNabb throws incomplete into end zone. Trainers talking with him behind bench.

– Russell’s first down pass to Louis Murphy off target, it bounces off his hands high in air, Asante Samuel intercepts at the 29-yard line.

– Two series, two Trevor Scott sacks. This one on third-and-12, McNabb forced up in pocket by Greg Ellis, Scott gets him from other side. Raiders survive “explosive” play _ McNabb swing to Bryant Westbrook for 22 yards on first down.

– Second possession another three-and-out for Oakland. A foregone conclusion after Trent Cole sacked Russell on first-and-10, running through attempted block of 215-pound fullback Gary Russell.

– Who says Raiders don’t blitz. Trevor gets his first sack, with Thomas Howard close behind, as Eagles go three-and-out on first possession.

– Raiders first series. Pass to G. Russell, no gain. Pass slightly behind DHB, can’t hold, near pick. Bush runs for four yards. Punt.

– The Raiders ran on the field as a team rather than be introduced individually. Can’t blame ‘em. It’s been a team effort through and through.

– Linebackers Kirk Morrison and Thomas Howard and Kirk Morrison executed “Black Hole” leaps before the Raiders ran on to the field en masse. Neither was impaled by shoulder spikes.

jhill they didnt put my post up cuz i just pointed out how full of bullish jerry is. that pas to murphy was on targert but lardass here says it wasnt. it hit murphy right in the hands. and yes that was the same thing to dhb

  3. SharkCatcher Says:

Y do they always do this to us Jerry!?

  4. Ryan Says:

I think 21 got a finger in the eye.

I can’t believe we are blitzing…and what do you know, it’s working!

  7. 408RAIDER Says:

Yo Im still on the ship!!!! any 1 got a different link

  8. jhill Says:

Now just think back to the Denver game when the DB tripped DHB leading to an INT by JRuss. Not quite sure how that play differs from the one we just got a penalty on.

And how the FUGG is that not grounding on McNabb right there?

  10. jhill Says:

I just don’t understand why we haven’t seen this defense until now?

Constant pressure sure makes it seem like the team hasn’t quit instead of sitting back in that 70’s BS defense we’ve been playing.

  11. Ryan Says:

    Nice flop, Murph!

    JUST WIN, BABY!

  12. xfactor247 Says:

Got jerked AGAIN by the refs!!

  13. jhill Says:

I just can’t get over how accurate Russell looks throwing the ball to Miller.

    Hmmmm

    Where are Lefty and Mista?

Can’t even give the kid credit?

    Sad!

  14. 504 Raider Says:

Aww man, these dudes trying to save Cable’s job. Let’s win but win by luck on a tipped ball or something so Cable stays on the hot seat.

  15. Tonio Says:

    still.. need more Bush..

  16. 408RAIDER Says:

  17. RaidingTexas Says:

How bad was that pass interference against Routt? I can’t see the game, just tracking on Sportsline.com.

  18. 408RAIDER Says:

yo thec!!! This could be the day!!! Im gettin all happy and stuff!!!

  19. 504 Raider Says:

When DHB tripped with the DB from Denver and didn’t get the call; Today the same exact thing happened in the Saints game and the Saints WR got the call.

  20. jhill Says:

Only 2 drops on the day are by the rookie WRs, lol!

    One leading to a pick!

Nice run by the fat guy, huh? LMFAO!

    Go get em big fella!

I sure hear a lot of cheering from the boycott crowd!

  21. alisgod Says:

    Raiding

it was awful. the guy fell down. worst than dhb falling down vs Denver.

  22. jhill Says:

Props to the Oline for showing up!

  23. Thec07 Says:

Wow jruss more swiv than dmac….?

  24. jhill Says:

    DAMN IT SATELE!!!!!!

  25. lefty12 Says:

Jhill,i’m was trying to watch on some lousy link.Russell is on and we are in the game.that td pass to Miller is what i have been talking about-he hit him in stride-the rec didn’t have to stop or twist to make the play.this game is proving what i have been saying-if our QB plays good we have a chance,if he sucks,we don’t.

  26. jhill Says:

    Cmon Cable,

That was an AWFUL fugging call man!

    DAMN!

A reverse on the 10 yd line?????

  27. SharkCatcher Says:

    thanks I appreciate the link

  28. alisgod Says:

    ———-

I call it intensity. Lack of week for the past 4 weeks. Pierce fired them up.

  30. xfactor247 Says:

Lets go JRUSS!!! You are looking great!! Its like a whole new offense right now!! I think I just saw a pump fake?!?!

  31. armond Says:

why the hell does cable take bush out the game when we get to the redzone? this is what we all biotch about?

  32. armond Says:

why would u call that play right there now? yeah but jerry says play calling is overrated. what a joke.

  33. Tonio Says:

    poor call.. poor call

  34. lefty12 Says:

    totally agree,Armond

  35. 408RAIDER Says:

3rd and goal lets do this!!!

  36. SharkCatcher Says:

I didnt like that play call at all

  37. xfactor247 Says:

I think Cable rotates Bush and Fargas per possesion so when Bush and co. go 3 and out then Fargas gets his chance. Bush also got the first 3 or 4 possesions.

  38. 408RAIDER Says:

    ok ok thanx Jano….

  39. 408RAIDER Says:

    lets go D!!!!

  40. armond Says:

xfactor thats the problem stick with one guy as the lead but dummie refuses to do it. then he wonders why his offense satlls so much.

  41. djohnnyg Says:

That channel surfing link is like somebody sending this feed form a bar somewhere.

Begars can’t be choosers I guess. Thanks for the link.

  42. RaidingTexas Says:

It’s only a couple of minutes into the 2nd, and Russell already has more passing yards than the entire offense had last week. WTF?

  43. jhill Says:

    Lefty,

    PUH-LEEZE!

We are in this game because the defense is playing like they did week 1. Heck better than they did week 1. We had the same 3 and outs to start the game as we have the past 3 weeks and we are not down double digits to start the 2nd qtr.

JRuss is as accurate as he’s always been to Miller. The difference is the EFFORT by him and Murphy to get in the end zone. Same drops by the WRs, man!

    What you’ve been saying?

    LMFAO! OK!

  44. SharkCatcher Says:

did al davis give the green light on the Blitz…such a different team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  45. Tonio Says:

0-3 on third down! GO D

  46. SharkCatcher Says:

Did Al Davis give the green light on the Blitz..??

  47. 408RAIDER Says:

    fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuk they made it

  48. Tonio Says:

Gotta love playing the team with no pads…

  49. jhill Says:

If we could ever learn to cover the back out of the backfield, we might be dangerous.

  50. 504 Raider Says:

Cable slams headset at ref. He needs to show fire like that on players who makes mistakes. He’s always picking on little guys.

  51. 408RAIDER Says:

awww isht here we go again… come on D do this ish…

  52. armond Says:

they gave dj too good of a spot but what else is new. they need beaware of these damn cutbacks. and that was grounding.

  53. RaidingTexas Says:

Wow, that’s real disrespect to the Raiders defense to go for it on 4th, deep in your own territory, only down by 7, early in the game.

    And it worked. LOL

  54. 408RAIDER Says:

    damn it!!!

  55. RaidingTexas Says:

    3-2-PHI 39 (5:16) D.McNabb pass short middle to B.Westbrook to PHI 27 for -12 yards (T.Branch). Penalty on OAK-C.Johnson, Illegal Contact, declined.

    ———————————————

What the hell? They lost 12 yards, then declined the penalty? How did it become 1st down if they declined? What really happened?

  56. 408RAIDER Says:

    fuggg

  57. Tonio Says:

    SeeeeeeeeeMoooooooooooooooe butts :)

  58. jhill Says:

Just showed Madden at the game. Couldn’t tell if he was in Al’s booth!

  59. jhill Says:

    LOL!

Tell me Lawton would not have dropped that.

  60. jhill Says:

Call me crazy, but Fargas is looking good!

  61. EMRaiders Says:

A couple of weeks ago somebody posted a link to a site called “IraqTV” or something like that where the game was being streamed live and it was easy to get. To that person, if you are out there, what was that site again?! I want to see dam it!

  62. Tonio Says:

    D—frkin Fense

  63. jhill Says:

    Awwww Damn !!!!!!!

  64. xfactor247 Says:

I agree with you Armond, they need to feed one guy and let him in a groove. OMG Jamrcuss just made a play!! Then threw a pick, standard!

  65. lefty12 Says:

Jhill,i’ve given you credit for knowing football better than that.sure the D is playing good, but they haven’t been on the field for most of the half.the off has been getting first downs and have actually scored points in the 1st half.come on,man, you are better than that.

  66. 504 Raider Says:

    OK Cable,

Now slam the headset down to the ground at Russell when he comes your way.

  67. armond Says:

yeah jhill we cant cover backs at all man. this drive is lasting too long because of it. he refuses to keep bush in the game still.

  68. 504 Raider Says:

McNabb confused about anything with the word “time” in it. Overtime, Timeout, etc.

  69. armond Says:

cable should also ask himself why he gets greedy throwing the ball. lest get bush involved int the game. russell soft tossed that ball cuz he didnt see the safety help. he gotta see that but i wish cable would stick to ruuning with bush now. he gets too comfortable when jmac makes some plays. he aint ready to do everything yet. also notice how hes not going to his wrs still?

  70. UP LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEER Says:

    DAMN RUSSELL

  71. jhill Says:

    Ok Russell!

Enough of the passes to Miller. I know the WRs aren’t doing anything but you HAVE to throw the ball they’re way. Even if it mean incompletions! They are sitting on Miller now!

    Bad pass!

  72. UP LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEER Says:

    http://www.iraqgoals.net/ch5.html

  73. UP LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEER Says:

IM WATCHING IT ON DIREC TV BUT THAT WAS THE SITE

  74. DarthPirate Says:

We have the worst receiving corps in the league. I don’t blame Russell for not going to them, but you’re right.

    Bad pass!

  75. raiderzride4free Says:

what was the point of that run play to end the half?

  76. armond Says:

we should have 17 if not for the refs. well what we need to do is establish bush and the wrs in the second half and dont let up on defense.

  77. djohnnyg Says:

    Nice pass Russell…

  78. xfactor247 Says:

Great half for the D, JR looks decent, WR’s still can’t catch, and Raiders get hosed again by the refs!

  79. djohnnyg Says:

Don’t worry. Raiders can’t handle success. They’ll find a way to f it up.

  80. djohnnyg Says:

    I hope not..but if recent history serves…

  81. djohnnyg Says:

Holding to a FG would be a good victory.

  82. 408RAIDER Says:

    Im so stressed

  83. djohnnyg Says:

    ..79.

your not used to this. None of us are.

  84. djohnnyg Says:

    Winning against a good team????

    What??????????

  85. xfactor247 Says:
