Schilens won’t play

Haven’t seen the inactive list, but my understanding is that Chaz Schilens is on it and won’t play.
Schilens looked to be running at somewhere near full speed doing pass patterns in shorts and a T-shirt along with receivers Louis Murphy, Todd Watkins, Javon Walker and Darrius Heyward-Bey, but the Raiders apparently believe he isn’t ready to play.
A friend doing network TV work informs me that as Raiders fans surrounded Al Davis, as they usually do before the game, there wasn’t the usual amount of fawning and hero worship. Instead, Davis was pepperered with questions about JaMarcus Russell (why doesn’t he sit), Javon Walker (why doesn’t he play) and Johnnie Lee Higgins (why is he on the bench).
Davis, to his credit fielded, interacted with the fans while making the way through the crowd with his security detail.

You guys forget these guys aren’t just playing for now. Their whole career depends on each players individual effort NOW. You think Aso starts off the season automatically with low morale? Or Fargas? Whoever?
Having a qb that single handedly loses the game for you destroys the morale..TODAY. Not last year’s morale, not 3 years ago..NOW..today.

EXACTLY WHEN DID THE TEAM LOSE MORALE BECAUSE OF THE QB?
Game 1? Well the defense sure played it’s ass of against KC, and the team WON the game.
Game 2? After a win?
Game 3? Was it at halftime after only being down 13-3? Or was it when the defense came out after the half and made it 20-3? Or was it when DMac fumbled on the next drive?
Game 4? After the WRs dropped 9 passes? After the defense gave up big play after big play?
And to be clear, my point AGAIN is how dare ANYONE of these sorry ass players points the finger at anyone else? They ALL need to stay after practice and get on the same page. They ALL suck!
At least the QB hasn’t quit on his sorry ass teammates!

RobG, Gruden wouldn’t come back without guaranteed $$$, something Al would not do. Gruden would make sure that the stupid clause about “Raider tradition” would be lifted, too. Gruden would make certain that he’d be allowed to coach the team his way, or be fired, with full contract compensation. One or the other. Gruden wouldn’t stop foot here for anything less. He’s got a good gig, now. National television is a tough nut to crack.

Brees has a quick accurate release. He knows 100% of their playbook. He can read defenses and audiblize out of bad called play. He’s a real team leader and cheerleader. He’s a winner. Everything JaBustus is NOT!

I think the prominent position qualifier is what I’m having trouble with. Agree with everything else. Prominent position compared to what other position?
I think the worst position on the team has been C. A close 2nd has been WR. DT and LB are next on my list, THEN QB.
I know there are some jokes coming but the fact is we win the SD game with better play from our LBs on those 4th qtr 3rd and 12s. We win the SD game if the WRs don’t drop TD passes and run bad routes. That seems to be the game everyone is saying lost the season for us.
ANY of those things happen in the SD game and we are 2 and 0.
Now with that said, I think we STILL lose the Denver game b/c Cable is, lol, well, Cable.
Houston sucks, so those 9 dropped passes and a little defense and maybe that game is closer.
Regardless, with this Oline, this was a 7 win team at best like I’ve said all along. Best hope was for SD and Denver to be as bad as we all thought they would be and we sneak into the playoffs.
Oh well! Too early to talk draft?

Without Schilens, I am very iffy bro. I know the D will come out swinging but i dont think the O can do it without Schilens. Unless we plan on pounding the rock, we are screwed today.
JR needs a receiver to bail him out and we dont have one. I think Miller is little overrated IMO. He is good but I dont think great like a Novachek, Christensen, Gates or Gonzales. Schilens is the only guy that bails him out on our team.

The Eagles have been blitzing 46.3% of the time. JaBustus better get on his horse and be ready to run for his life. It would be a great opportunity for a BQB to hit the hot slanting receivers for big gains. Our only problem is the hitting aspect of that equation. JaBustus’ accuracy has been so bad he may not even get it by the line of scrimmage.

Armond, Al would have to guarantee Gruden the money up front, and he’d have to put it in clear language that the only cause Gruden could be fired for is bringing a gun to work and shooting everyone. None of this “raider tradition” clause. Gruden has a good job right now. Do you honestly think he’d come here for peanuts, or under a contract with language allowing Al to fire him w/o pay?

Brees works 12 hr days down here, even on Tuesdays. He and Payton are exactly the way Gannon and Gruden used to be.
JaMarcus is making strides though. Last week for the first time since he became a Raider I saw him looking at the faxes from upstairs on the sideline with his QB coaches.

if al was smart he would think about luring gruden back. we need a real coach who has a winning pedigree not to mention a personality to inspire these guys. we have no fire in this team. grudens energy as a coach does so much for a young team like this. alot of people think gruden is bad for young teams but he may be right for this one. he loves the wildcat(DMC) and he said he will study the spread attack. doesnt sound like a guy who is conservative. lets be honest the weapons on this team are far more athletic fast and explosive to be conservative. atleast gruden has an idea how to use talent and i believe u would see a better jamarcus. gruden+hackett+russell=success, cable+hackett+russell=bullsheit. we wr for the spread and i believe z miller would also be used better by gruden. he atleast has idea how to manage an offense properly. we would be a much tougher team physically and MENTALLY.

when a QB has touch on his passes it is possible for WRs to make catches that are thrown off target.when the QB just throws lasers those catches are next to impossible.unfortunately our QB has very little touch on his passes thus many that would be catchable are not.
