Official statement from the NFL regarding the investigation into an alleged assault by Tom Cable against assistant coach Randy Hanson. Cable was not charged.
“We will review the decision announced earlier today by the Napa District Attorney and the facts developed in the underlying investigation. Following that review, we will take appropriate action, if any, under our policies.”

My last hope…the NFL doesn’t tolerate bumping into QBs, so Cable bumping into a coach who then hit Hanson and then Cable grabbing Hanson’s shirt while he was down might be enough for a life-time suspension of Cable as a HC…from now on he will only be allowed to coach the o-line!

Actually, thanks to NFL.COM I prefer blackouts. With the regular broadcast I have to set extra record time on my DVR, have to fast forward through commercials, and the recording is in standard definition.
With a blackout I get the entire game commercial free in HD the next day.

When you can think of the last time a DA declined to press charges in an assault case, where hospital records proved a jaw was broken and the DA also knew there was a heated exchange, and the suspect refused to talk, I’m all ears. Total sham. What we got today was a reminder of how much a joke our justice system is. And how much of a joke the Raiders are. Of course, the latter will continue on throughout the year, beginning Sunday.

First, there were no “charges” filed by the DA, so there were none to drop. Second, they didn’t press charges because they didn’t think a Jury would convict because of conflicting evidence. They never said that they didn’t file charges because Cable was mute (and they would never say something like that, because that is unconstitutional).
What you’re saying is that the DA didn’t file charges because Cable was mute: “When does the DA ever drop charges when the suspect stands mute?” Your words, not mine. I keep forgetting that when you’re talking to Raider fans, you have to slow it down a little, and pretend you’re talking to 5th graders. I’m sorry, but it’s the truth. It’s amazing how many times I’ve had the reexplain my 5th amendment point. But when you’re dealing with people who have short attention spans and haven’t read anything in their lives other than a sports page, unfortunately it’s just an obstacle that must be met.

You have to be the most interesting individual who takes sides, when the result is based in favor of the Raiders you go into the political mode, and if the problem or issue is against the Raiders it’s all good, due to Davis, which is always his fault.
You have played your hand, and fall on to the side of anything against the Raiders is great, “BUT WHEN THE CHIPS FALL” away from them, it’s politics or some other bull crap excuse you can think of.

So basically Hanson tried to straddle the fence, but ultimately didn’t, and put all his eggs in the wrong basket. He should have just shut his mouth and accepted whatever low-level job and pay he would have gotten. When is the last time you’ve seen a DA REFUSE, not drop, REFUSE to press charges in an assault case when 1)they know a heated altercation took place, 2) they know the alleged victim was injured via medical evidence, 3) THE SUSPECT ISN’T TALKING! Just tell me when’s the last time you’ve seen a DA, again, not drop, but refuse to charge a suspect under these circumstances. Dishonest, childish moron.
