Final: Jets 38, Raiders 0
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, October 25th, 2009 at 4:11 pm in Oakland Raiders.
Scoring
NYJ_Shonn Greene 33-yard run (Jay Feely kicks PAT).
Notes:
Have to bail on blog notes until later because of added print responsibilities today . . .
Worst home loss ever. Previous worst margin was 41-7 (34 points), most recently in Brett Favre game on Dec. 22, 2003
Go ahead and vent.

No..there are almost no walk up sales.
All butts in seats are season ticket holders, who’ve already paid.
But damn..was that stadium EMPTY, OR WHAT??
After a win last week? Even LESS FANS SHOW UP? Looked like there were less than 28,000 in seats.
Sorry team.
Sorry organization.
Sorry owner.
Sorry fans.
Sorry city.
Ouch
October 25th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
Ok …
Now that we got that out of the way!
JRuss sucks, but Gradkowski is without question worse.
But that’s not the point.
ANYONE who still says that this team offense is a QB away needs to be banned from this site!
ANYONE suggesting that quitting for any reason is ok is NOT a Raider fan!

Did you see Higgins with a big smile and laughing after the game? Thats what I am talking about PUNKS THIS TEAM IF FULL OF NOTHING BUT PUNKS.

October 25th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
…BILL CALLAHAN! Forgot he was with the Jets! Congratulations, Bill. And yes, as you found out today, they’re STILL the dumbest team in America. Randy Hanson, congrats to you, too. I know you’re sipping a Martini right about now.
October 25th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
If Al keeps starting Russell just to prove KIffin wrong then he deserves this game.
Russell totally sucks as an NFL QB.
His first play was a fumble which led to a Jets TD.
His second drive ended with an interception which led to a Jets TD.
His third drive led to an interception.
This guy has NO pocket awareness whatsoever.
Who knows how we’d play with a decent QB.
Russell just sucks the life out of the team.
October 25th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
I can’t wait to hear the stroked-out buffoon George Attkinison find a positive in today’s loss while admonishing the fans for not showing up for this putrid crap. It’s always fun to hear him slaughter the English language as well.

October 25th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
So if you had to give any game balls to Raiders players, who would you give them to and for what??

Mr. Davis gets one from the jets…
October 25th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
Sadly this can and likely will get worse. No gradkowski is not better than russell but russell is awful and yes he is a cancer that eats away at this team. I still firmly believe that with jeff garcia healthy from week 1 we’d be at WORST 4-3. The team gives up bc russell is so bad he will negate anything done by anyone.

October 25th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
tom cables, not the problem, the scheme isn’t the problem, its al davis and “his players”, he keeps playing WR who can’t catch the ball, LB who can’t tackle, QB who doesn’t have brains, DT who can’t stop the run, so on and so on, it seems elementary to me to continue to do something just because thats my phiolsphy or my way of doing things, its not working CHANGE YOUR WAY OF THINKING!!!!!, AL DAVIS, is it that hard to see, its obvious to a thousands of other people
October 25th, 2009 at 4:22 pm
Wow. I am actually ashamed for once in my life today to be a Raider fan. That was horrible. Started watching the game at halftime lol already down 24 nothing. The drive with the missed fg by the Jets they had like 9 rushes for 70yds and no pass attempts. Thats pathetic. Guess its time to look forward to the draft once again for year 7 now

Disgrace, Garbage, Soft, Punks, none of these words are strong enough to describe what this team is and has been for going on a DECADE NOW.
There are no words in the English language that can do justice to just how bad these guys are.
My son is in the back yard burning all his Raider gear, all he knows about being a Raider fan is being humiliated and the kid has a tear in his eye as he is burning the gear.
And the Raider players on the field are laughing, where did the scouts find these guys.
October 25th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
MAN DARTH RAIDER I LOVE THIS TEAM BUT I HATE THEM SO MUCH.
October 25th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
One last point and I am going to sit down AND WATCH SOME REAL FOOTBALL.
As bad as the players are the Raiders have been being out coached for many of the games this year.
Bring Gruden home, he was a REAL RAIDER AND STILL IS A RAIDER AT HEART. You are 80 years old Mr. Davis and thanks for all you have done but you need someone young to come in and STAY WITH THE RAIDERS AND BRING SOME STABILITY BACK.
You gave away our Super Bowl when you let Gruden walk and it has been a cluster #### ever since. You love the Raiders as much as you say and you want to win bring back GRUDEN AND BRING HIM HOME NOW.
Because if you do not make a move and let this just go on year after year the 20 people in the stands are going to walk soon and you will be playing in an empty ball park.

I hear yah Pep. We just need to ride the wave and wait out uncle Al’s heart failure. We will rise again. Anything negative about this team stems from Al. He runs this team like a lemonade stand instead of a corporation. You cant win in this league with that mentality.

If St. Louis could’ve added a FG today, the Raiders would be the lowest scoring team in the league through 7 games.

Didn’t see the game. Got the whole family over and they got the Saints on the Bigscreen. I tivo’d and will watch after this Saints shootout.
Surprised to see Cable had balls to pull Russell. Been reading comments and most accurate to me is Cable gotta go. This guy had the DA drop charges and he still can’t come up with a game plan.
A past poster said it best in regards to Cable’s interview for the job:
Al Davis: Tim, Are you familiar with the protection schemes on the corner blitz?
Cable: No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.
Al Davis: You’re hired!

Every game to me at least is a winnable game. SD, KC, Cinn, Wash, in Dallas, in Cleveland, Baltimore are all winnable games. The only really tough games to me right now, are in Pitt and in Denver. Now, things change during the course of the year, with teams playing well, injuries, guys emerging. But you want an answer: We run the table or at least win 8-9 of our last 10. How’s that for a prediction??

As I posted earlier, Cable is 5-7 in his last 12 and 4-4 in his last 8. Coming from a team with a .250 over the last 5+ years, that is a good trajectory. He is doing a much better job than anyone since Gruden. Might be time to get behind what this guy is preaching.
October 25th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
This just in – the Raiders will have a scrimmage during their bye week vs. the Napa Redwood Hills Middle Schools. “We need to boost the condidence of our young players,” said John Herera in a statement after today’s Jet’s game. “Need to get Heyward-Bey, JaMarcus, and McFadden on track. Oh, and also, we have our eye on a young CB that is tearing it up on special teams and covering the slot receivers. He should be eligible in the 2021 NFL Draft according to Mr. Davis. He runs a 4.3 forty time barefooted.”
Just Scrimmage Baby!
I was in NY, and YES, the Raiders played like it was a scrimmage. The truth hurts, but whatever it takes to get this team lacking in needed intangibles, we can only hope that the other NY team gives the Raiders bulletin board material.

Bench Russell and have Gradkowstki and Frye compete for the starting job. Resign Russell to a 5 year -$2 million contract in order to get some of that money back. Next year draft only offensive linemen. We dont need a QB in the draft. We need to trade for one.
October 25th, 2009 at 4:49 pm

October 25th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
Doesnt matter what linemen we draft, they will all be busts, cos no Head/Position coach with any talent will ever coach for Al Davis.
HE is the problem, nothing else.
Its a vicious circle, nobody wants to coach for him, therefore we cannot develop the raw trackguys he drafts.
But nobody will coach for him, cos he has final say in drafting said trackstars.

You are obviously excited, lol!
Listen dude, I called for Russell to be benched in game 2. Fact of the matter is you want Russell to keep playing some you can keep up your junior high school jokes acts. You are not funny AND you know nothing about the game!
Gradkowski played 2 and 1/2 quarters of football, genrated nothing, should have had 3 picks for scores, but you guys like his effort and emotion? LMFAO! How about completing a fugging pass? Anyone! JRuss, Grad, Frye, next year’s pick, WHOEVER!
This TEAM sucks. You obsession with the big black QB is laughable!
ANYONE who tells me that 1st and 10, from our own 10 yd line, with the worst QB in the league, and the worst WRs in the league, and the worst Oline – WE SHOULD CALL A PASS PLAY ????? ARE YOU FUGGING KIDDING ME?
You don’t know anything about the game dude! Your arguments are nothing more than a sad guy trying to get a laugh.

J. Russell 6 11 61 54.5 5.5 1 6 0 2 31.1
October 25th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
All I ever asked for was effort. Can’t get that consistently.
Russell is a bust. Admit it and I was WRONG about him. But truth be told… the Raiders don’t hire the qualified coaching/scheme to develop a young QB. Therefore, I would like to see the Raiders go back to the retread route. I would bring in Rex Grossman and JP Losman next year.
Cable is a rank idiot. His playcalling is a disgrace and is not professional. Backed up at the 10 yd line and we are throwing deep. Bring in the back up QB and his first pass is deep….Try to hit DHB deep on a 9-route.
Cable is not qualified to be a head coach let alone an OC.
The team is bad so as a Raider fan you have a choice.
Either ride with them with the sad understanding that they will never win until Al Davis relinquishes control…or
Jump ship…
I’ve been here too long so I’ll just ride with them. I used to the losing anyway. By the way….MaddenRaider is spot on with his overall assessment.
I have fantasy football to keep me interested anyway. That Saints game was something else
October 25th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
The Jets had 4 first round picks on the Oline!
They just lined it up, and punched us in the mouth. 300 yds rushing?
Cable never gave us a chance to punch them back. Back? Hell, we had the ball first and could have laid a bunch of body blows. But NOOOOOO! Cable comes out THROWING !!!!!
Obviously Cable had a gameplan based upon Chaz coming back and Russell completing a bunch of passes to the FB and TE last week. LMFAO!
Why did Cable have a passing gameplan instead of a running game plan?
3 of the first 4 plays from scrimmage were pass plays!

WHERE’S THE COMMISSIONER?
October 25th, 2009 at 5:22 pm
Snb, How do you say the defense is garbage? If you’re on the field as long as they are what can you do. They do need to bring in someone but who? and you can’t bring anyone in this year, can you? I may be wrong but they should not of let Garcia go. I know people will yell at me for that but he could of won the game today.
October 25th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
JHill,
Tom Cable’s playcalling is awful. Just awful. He doesn’t even try to run the football. All his playcalling with Russell is down the field….LOL….then he does the same thing with Gradkowski.
Davis is the cancer at the center of all this. The team is built wrong, the coaches are incompetent and the overall product is ghoulish.
We may not win for 20 or 30 yrs….except for a brief respite due to Gruden…we haven’t really won in 20 already.
Davis has really destroyed his former Hall of Fame reputation

Yes, Russell has to go…no question.
The Raiders need to go bring in Grossman, JP Losman and maybe Chad Pennington and try to see if they can rekindle the 80’s model of taking rejects…unfortunately, the scouting is much better today.
The defense is garbage

Stickum,
Spot on! No decent NFL coach wants this job, no decent NCAA coach wants this job, so it doesn’t matter who the coach is. Until Al changes the way the organization is mismanaged nothing will change. Why blame the players, scheme, lack of heart, etc etc etc? There only one person who is responsible for the last 7 years of horrible football; the same one who will be responsible for the next 7 years….Al Davis (RIP)
October 25th, 2009 at 5:26 pm
By the way…
This whole team quit again.
That goes back to the coaching.
But unfortunately, Davis can’t bring in professional coaching
October 25th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
To you well-meaning critics of JMR, the problem is, there’s no rational way to evaluate the personnel on this team as long as Davis insists on his outmoded systems. No way to do it! Only after you change the system and bring in a legitimate quality coach will we know JMR, or anybody’s true potential.
October 25th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
Jamarcus hasnt been helped by his own laziness or the scheme.
But its not hard to see he doesnt have the instincts for the position, this is a guy that failed to see a blitzer coming right up the middle towards him in the meadowlands.
Thats nothing to do with coaching or scheme, it just means he isnt a good quarterback.

Tom Cable and his desire to throw the ball…… Why does every 3rd and 4 have to be a pass? First play of the game, let’s drop Jamarcus back inside his 10 yard-line? A nice drive with some nice Fargas runs, 1st and 10 let’s challenge the best corner in the league with Todd Watkins, who thinks of this shyt?
And where the hell was Jamarcus throwing it on the first pick? What happened to taking a sack and turning it over to “all world Shane Lechler?”
Damn so frustrating.

I think our position is what JHill is trying to preach to these guys. Its really bigger than JaMarcus…who is a bust by the way…but it goes back to getting real professional coaching and letting said coach run his team.
Davis is the worst owner in pro sports period. He drafts/signs these athletes that can’t play and then saddles the head coach with the players, schemes and assistants (read Hanson) and then expects success.
The team is fundamentally broken and everyone in the universe knows why.
That’s why the Raiders would really be better off going all veterans and hope to attract some leaders that can fill the vacumm from the puppet coach and incompetent owner

I really think that Russell was mishandled. I really believe that. With that said…his performance at this stage in his career is unacceptable. So he needs to go back to Mobile, Alabama and hang with his folks.
The root cause of this nonsense is Al Davis. Until he is willing to hire a REAL professional head coach and let that coach hire his staff, run his schemes and run his team including making the decision of who plays and who doesn’t….they will never win. I don’t care who you bring in to play QB, RB, C, WR, LT,RG,LG, RT, DT,DE,LB,S, K,P special teams…the whole thing.

Oh really ????
Let’s see …
We ALL know the QB, WRs, and Oline is a “work in progress” to be kind, lol!
Now I don’t know who simpler it could be than if YOU were calling the plays with the QB, WRs, and Oline we have, would your first play from your own 10 yd line be a 7 step drop pass play?
Would 3 of your first 4 plays called be pass or run?
Knowing the type of defense the Jets play, would you call plays that had Jamarcus Russell turning his back on the defense, and then have him “trying to make a play” against that rush? LMFAO!
I know your answers to those questions and your just a poster on this blog. Why the fugg doesn’t Cable know what to do?
October 25th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
Ok. I know it’s hard to get shut out but Cable evidently finds it pretty easy once a season to do so. Last year it was against Atlanta, this year NY. I predict he can beat last year’s record by being shut out the next two weeks; therefore making it three in a row (yes, I know we have a bye after next week but point made nonetheless). We’re almost there right Tom? Tell me about our talent one more time….
October 25th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
What’s the excuse for DHB dropping that TD pass from Gradkowski?
I mean, does it really matter who is throwing the DROPS?

Jimbo Fisher is Florida State’s offensive coordinator and head-coach-in-waiting. He also recruited Russell at LSU and coached him there for his entire college career; Fisher has known Russell since the player was a freshman in high school.
“All the things they say about him, I never saw those problems,” Fisher said Wednesday from his office in Tallahassee. “It baffles me to hear that stuff. We film-studied; he carried three or four plays to the line of scrimmage; he read defenses and checked down.
“I’m a very demanding person, and would rip his tail when something happened. I’m not there, so I don’t know what they’re asking of him. But maybe they need to make him [study] more, work harder at it. I’d find time to do it. Make him give me reports, give it back to me.”
Russell, according to scouts, usually puts in a typical 9-5 business day at the Raiders’ facility. Sometimes, they say, he leaves before 4 p.m.

I just laugh at ANYONE who says that coaching doesn’t matter. Then again, most of the same people bashing our players will say that no credible coach will come here.
Think about that! You admit that we don’t have a credible coach and them blame the players when we show up unprepared and players end up going through the motions.
LMFAO at non credible coaching being expected to develop or manage talent on an NFL level.
Is there ANYONE here who thinks that we have an advantage coaching on any given week? ANYONE?!?!!?

JHill,
The folks on here have the same disease that Davis does. They think this team is just one playah away. Its not even close.
What team would start two rookie receivers with a developmental QB?
What team would knowingly go out there with the Offensive Line lineup that we had going in?
What team would draft a receiver #7 overall with huge flaws in his game with the gaping holes in other key positions?

From the Candid Cam article:
Russell accounted for three turnovers on four series in the first quarter. As for his personal accountability in his failure to develop as even an acceptable quarterback, he failed to place blame on himself alone.
When I asked him at his locker what’s been the biggest obstacle in his development, he replied: “Up and down. Up and down.”
As in the team’s consistency, or his?
“I don’t think it’s me, personally. I really don’t,” Russell replied. “It’s been a bad combination of one guy not doing something right one time, one guy another time.
“Personally, I don’t think so. Do you?”
After a brief pause, I replied: “At times.”
“For the first time, he was really out of sorts early in the game,” Cable said.
“Actually, I wasn’t,” Russell countered.
Cable claimed right out the gate that Russell failed to line up his teammates in the proper formation on the first play and check the ball down as required. The result: Russell got sacked and fumbled the ball, and the Jets quickly converted that turnover into the first of their five touchdowns

Blaming the playahs is the easy way out. Sure Russell is a big, blazin bust! But so is the WR, RB, S, LT, DE, and plethora of DBs that they have drafted over the years.
The puppet coaches that can’t set the tempo and design their own schemes.

No doubt Al is the biggest culprit in this mess, but that doesn’t mean everyone gets a free-pass due to Al’s ineptitude.
A team can put up with a struggling QB, if he works hard, his teammates respect his work-ethic and know that he is doing everything to improve. Either Jamarcus isn’t doing this stuff, or he is and is just awful. I think it is a little-bit of both.

I thought Gradkowski played well. He hit DHB right in the hands with a touchdown pass. I hope he starts next week. Jamarcus Russell will never be a pro quarterback. Gradkowski at least has the guts to tuck the ball in and run for first downs. He reminds me a little bit of Gannon.

That historical comparison garbage is what has us in this hole now. Davis trying to recreate the 70s
ANd now you trying to laud a backup QB.
We have no quarterbacks…none.
We better bring in Rex Grossman and JP Losman next year.
No more rookies or young QBs.
We don’t have the coaching staff or organization to get that done.

The underlying problem is Al Davis. Year after year I read about next year, the next coach, the next player, but rarely do I read about the real problem that haunts the team every year. That is Al Davis. Until he goes, nothing will change – ever. So Oakland fans, hush up until the toxin is gone…
October 25th, 2009 at 6:34 pm
Vegas Raider,
The idiot drafts players based on physical attributes and not on football IQ.
The Owner hires coaches that are pliant.
So you think swapping out the playahs is going to change anything.
The one coach who did things correctly got TRADED!
I am with MaddenRaider on this one.
Any blame that is not 100% focused on Al Davis is misdirected.
Al Davis is totally responsible for all this.
October 25th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
The Jets had FOUR FIRST ROUND PICKS on their Oline on the way to over 300 yds rushing.
They didn’t ask their QB to do ANYTHING but HAND THE BALL OFF!
Why is that so hard for some of you to understand? Sanchez didn’t do squat but run a QB draw, lol! He had ZERO plays in the game. His lone TD has a HELLUVA play on an UNDERTHROWN ball by a 5th string WR, lol!
Great job of shaking yourself Ryan and realizing that you didn’t have Broadway Joe and you just needed to run the fugging ball.
And SnB, a 3 and out with a helluva punt by Lechler to see if we could rattle the young QB SHOULD have been the move.
But NO, Cable was impressed with the progress Russell has been making the past 3 weeks. He told you at last weeks PC that it was coming. You could see him gloating b/c Russell finally had a decent game. Couple that with Cable expecting Chaz back and the playbook we saw last week was back in th closet.

Cable is collecting a check. I don’t hate on him for that. Gotta feed your family and he has the opportunity to secure his family’s future for ever.
An O-Line coach probably makes 300 or 400K…he’s making about $2M or so as head coach. That’s 5yrs of pay to be a puppet.
But his playcalling is terrible.
Its clear that Al Davis is running the entire show including the starting lineup
October 25th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
SnB, you are right. Al Davis is the problem.
McFadden instead of Clady. DHB instead of Crabtree. Even I knew these were the wrong decisions.

No. No more rookies or young players. The coaching quality and turnover is such that no young QB would succeed.
They need to bring in a fiery veteran that could play for about 5 or 6 yrs. Someone that is around 30 yrs old that can provide the leadership that our stuffed shirt coaches won’t provide.
A vet QB that can manage the game.

Cable is in over his head for sure. Didn’t even give the running game a chance. Especially given that the QB and WRs are way behind schedule
October 25th, 2009 at 6:49 pm
DB’s know that if they are physical with our WR’s that they will not compete. Russell’s confidence in his WR’s is a 2 on a 1 to 10 scale. That along with his struggles doesn’t bode well for an aggressive passing game which Cable seems to think he can just do whatever and come out good.
Cable needs to give the playcalling responsibilities to Hackett who will protect Russell from himself.

Al is to blame for the “Macro” state of the team, but the players could at least deliver a better product to the fans.
Think, even if Jamarcus takes all those sacks today, but doesn’t fumble, or throw the awful pick. We still have a team that is full of athletes and not tough lines, so we would have still given up way too much on Run D, been unable to protect the QB, and our coach would still be below NFL level talent. We could still have all those problems, and maybe lost 17-6 today, still be 2-5 but would have been slightly entertained as the consumer.
Instead it was 38-0, thanks to Cable and Jamarcus not Al Davis, the game was over literally after one ill-advised play. Pathetic.

Lefty12. I’m quite capable of admitting when Russell really stinks it up. But he was not alone in his endeavors our WR’s STINK. That endzone pass to Watkins was his to make a play or at least be a factor in breaking it up. These guy’s just don’t compete for the football IMO. I get that Russell is struggling mightily and have adlitted as much many times. But I would love to see him with JLH and Chaz instead of these two jokers. Give him Boldin and Fitzgerald and tell me he wouldn’t be much better? These WR’s are a factor in his confidence. We’re playing TWO ROOKIES for crying out loud. Why is he so accurate to ZM and the HB’s. I’ll tell you why ZM competes for the football……….period

I got to watch the game out here east coast ( live in Long Island-I got mercilessly abused but don’t care because I have always been and will always be silver and black). The stadium looked ridiculous as empty as it was, but I can’t blame anyone for not wanting to watch this live. Pure torture. For those calling for Cable’s head, I laugh at you. Do you really think Cable has anything to do with this other than being a puppet put in place to do Al Davis’ bidding?
No respectable coach will go there. Any coach who does take the job does so knowing that they will be doing Al’s bidding. It is a waste of time until Al takes that big black and silver elevator into the sky.
Then perhaps we can get a non-interfering owner with some sense to attract a decent GM and head coach tandem. Then, and only then, can we begin to re-build. Because then, and only then, will we be able the draft picks be made by someone with football knowledge that has been relevant in the past 25 years; to be able to finally re-install winning attitude in a place that drew me to be a raiders fan when I was 5 years old and winning was in fact tradition.
I was disgusted today. Laughing after getting your head handed to you in your own house? I hope Sanchez enjoyed his f’ing hot dog. Looked like a move Jafatass would have pulled.
P.S. I give Cable respect for actually pulling Blubberbutt outta the game. You know he is going to hear about it from the crypt-keeper. I just wish he was able to put Garcia in.
October 25th, 2009 at 7:47 pm
Jhill,if you remember right,i said Russell should be benched to SEE if he was the problem.are you going to deny the off. functioned better when Gradkowski was in?sure, the rookie WRs still dropped balls, but the team moved the ball, something they didn’t do when Russell was in the game.DHB was thrown the slant you always demand, and it worked.it seems as if our young WRs are letting the bias of the officials really bother them.the Def. was terrible, but i is also obvious the team is frustrated by the terrible play by the supposed leader-J.Russell.

October 25th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
I would love to see Gradkowski start for two games and see what happens. Then I would like to see Russeell with a healthy JLH and Chaz and Murphy or Walker and see what happens.
I’ve watched russell for the better part of 6 years and I know what this kid is capable of if you put the Talent around him. He can be dominant. But he’s playing two freakin rookies. Those were not poorly thrown passes to Watkins and DHB but if you watch the WR’s you’d think they were. Terrible ball awareness.
October 25th, 2009 at 7:53 pm
Priest, you keep saying the WRs aren’t helping the QB and that is true.however,it is a 2 way street-the QB,who is in his 3rd year, isn’t doing anything to help his 2 ROOKIE WRs.how many passes have the WRs had thrown to them where they could stay in stride and make a catch.not many if any.sure, they are dropping passes-just as all rookie WRs do,but the QB isn’t giving them the greatest passes either.
October 25th, 2009 at 7:55 pm
Yes I am going to deny to offense functioned better with Gradkowski in there. What do you mean by that?
Slant pass to DHB for 4 yds? Is that what you call moving the ball? I prefer the 24 yd pass that Russell completed to him, lol! Cmon!
Gradkowski had three 3 and outs and a fumble in his first 4 possessions. Are you serious??!?!?
October 25th, 2009 at 7:58 pm
wow, what another horrible loss. i must say though, in my opinion we can not, i repeat CAN NOT blame this on jr. this is only his 23rd career start. 23rd. when the man has time to throw the ball he looks decent. you can see potential. outside of that 1st int, the other 2 to’s were not his fault. he barely completed his dropback and was hit 4 the fumble. 2nd int was on watkins. how the hell was he falling down on that? if murphy dont drop the slant early, jr would’ve been 7-11. not too bad considering he hardly ever has time to throw, and when he does our wrs drop the frickin ball. would be nice to see what this guy can do with some halfway decent wrs and of course a little protection from the oline. but i will say it again, he doesnt look so bad when he has time to throw the ball
October 25th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
Russell had 3 turnovers in his 1st 3 possessions.at least 3 and outs don’t give the other team the ball on the 4 yd line the 1st 2 possessions of the game.

October 25th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Lefty,
You say you were watching the game, so I’m sure you saw that play early on where Russell went deep to DHB after scrambling and buying time.
DHB stopped his route when the DB cut him off instead of running through that and drawing a penalty or going for the ball.
Right or Wrong ?!?!?!
Did Murphy drop that slant on the 2nd series, yes or no?
Were you happy with the effort Watkins gave on that pass in the endzone, Yes or No?
Should Cable have called a pass or run to START the game from our OWN 10 YD LINE?
See, the fact that you can just brush these things off makes YOU the one who doles out excuses. The fact that you have no issue with Cable having a game plan that does not play to the strengths of this team is what I call excuses. The QB? Puh-leeze. And by that I mean Gradkowski too. First play off the bench is a deep pass to Murphy?
Run the damn ball dude! It’s early 2nd qtr!

October 25th, 2009 at 8:13 pm
Look Lefty,
I’m not going to sit here and keep going back and forth with you on who is the worst QB on the team. The answer is ALL OF THEM!
Like I’ve said a million times, I really don’t care about the QB position, I care about the whole team. A QB change is the equivalent of sweeping the dirt under the rug. This team does NOT lose 38 and 48 to nothing because of the QB. 17-6, 21-7, 14-0, or anything like that, yes.
But these blowouts say a lot more to me.
Sorry but why not put your defense on the field first if we won the toss? Why do we have a penalty to start the game? Why do we run the ball from our own 10 yd line? Didn’t he learn anything from the Denver game? Geeze!
You, I, and the milkman know the QB position is an issue, so why do we KEEP seeing play calling that acts like we don’t have an issue at QB?
THAT is what I’ve been trying to say!

Well, it’s a general concensus.
Depending on who you talk to, the owner sucks, the offense sucks, the defense sucks..it’s the qb’s fault, it’s not his fault, it’s the WR’s fault..nope..not theirs..D line? yeah, but how bout the dbacks? them too..play calling? coaches fault/Al’s fault..neither of them at fault..back to qb/Wr/Oline/dline/…
Let’s make it easier.
WHAT DOESN’T SUCK ON THE RAIDERS???
your punter and FG kicker..THAT’S IT.
Yeah, LMFAO at you dweebs…’IT’S RUSSELL’..it’s NOT RUSSELL..geez..how freaking sorryass pathetic of a group can you be? Only thing worse is if you had racist posters on here..oh..my bad..you do, Jhill.
Yeah yeah..it’s all because some of you pansies are so damn insecure that you don’t CARE if the Raiders suck..just as long as YOUR ARGUMENT isn’t proven wrong..too slow to realize IT ALL SUCKS..yeah..fools..Russel is the worst qb in the league. You have NO WR’s worth a damn. Your d line is horrendous, even with SeeMeMour..Dbacks can’t defend a group of old ladies..coaches are tokenheads..Oline can’t block the sun…

Lefty12, so you agree with me that it’s just a bad combination, And not Russell alone? because that’s all I’m saying, he is struggling but he needs a lot more help from the players around him.
We don’t have any playmakers at WR……….period and it makes him look much worse.
October 25th, 2009 at 8:17 pm
i could care less if they bench jamarcus. changing one guy wont help this team. it sucks. they play in so many blow-outs they are kind of expecting it….

Jhill i have to wonder what a great football mind like you is doing on here.shouldn’t you be getting your game plan for next Sat. or Sunday ready?you obviously know more than the people who are paid to do this for a living.you mention plays ROOKIE WRs aren’t making that some Exp. WRs don’t make.you never acknowledge the QB should have thrown the ball more inside or outside or deeper.you ALWAYS blame the ROOKIE WRs.if the QB led Watkins more to the left, the DB couldn’t have intercepted the ball.a good QB puts the ball where only his Rec. can get it,he doesn’t just throw it up and expect his Rec. to make great catches.

Yeah the whole playcalling isnt as important as the execution is complete bs. Yes executon is key as in people dropping passes or running bad routs is killing drives but at the same time how bout good play calling to give some of these guys confidence. Seriously if we had Drew Brees, Peyton Manning etc back there then yes we could rely on the passing game but we dont. So Cable needs to be calling running plays until the running game wears down the defense a bit. We have rookie wr’s out there. Does anyone seriously think they have a ton of confidence when every drive is relying on them to catch 15-20 yard passes to keep a drive going. Now if its 3rd and 3-4 and have gotten a few first tons from rushing then maybe some of these guys would get some confidence back. The 2 calls taking away receptions for Murphy I really think have shatttered his confidence completely. At half time even if your down 3 td’s you have plenty of time and can come out rushing. Man its not just Al Davis messing this team up guys

we have the cheapest coaches in the nfl. we have no scouting department. let the rest take care of itself.

Jhill, post#234 true dat!! That is my point exactly.
Cable is a retard.

Ricochet
why are you so mad?
October 25th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
f you richochet. you just said we have no wrs and that our oline sux. which both are very true. i’ll ask you this. what qb would succeed with this group of wrs and this oline?
October 25th, 2009 at 8:21 pm
Ok Lefty ….
I see your points, and you won’t have to worry about me pumping up #2 any longer. It’s all about #5 going forward until #2 shows … well it’s all about #5 for now so forget about #2.
This team is just a QB away from doing something.
Our HC is doing the best he can.
Our rookies WRs are not as bad as they seem.
Our RT and RG situation doesn’t need fixing.
Bush is a bona fide back waiting on a QB.
And our defense will be able to stop the run more consistently once they get a QB who can actaully play the game.
Got it!
Don’t know what I was thinking.

Who is responsible for putting this so called product on the field? the ORGANIZATION.
Mr. Davis <——-The ORGANIZATION
October 25th, 2009 at 8:24 pm
Priest, you heard Howard.it is obvious the team got down after the first 2 series we turned the ball over-the here we go again thing.he also said he sees Russell working and insinuated he isn’t seeing any results.at this point in time JR is dragging the team down.is it all on him-no.but he is being paid to lead the team and as of now i don’t believe the team believes in their leader.it also didn’t sit well that after he was pulled,he was laughing on the sidelines.
October 25th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
You could have superman play qb, put the flash at running back and the raiders would still mess it up…
October 25th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
Ricochet
Why are you so angry?
October 25th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
Well the person responsible for the offensive playcalling on the field right now is Tom Cable not Al Davis
October 25th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
Cable is a genius. I love how he got Fargas averaging 10 yards per carry then seductively transitioned to putting the game in his all-world QB’s hands.

You really think Al Davis has time each week to call the plays on offense while he is busy meddling in the defensive scheme lol. I think he is to old now to handle both
October 25th, 2009 at 8:40 pm
Thomas Howard said it himself-it is on the players.they are being coached but they aren’t executing.the players are missing tackles, not the coaches.i know most of you hate G.Atkinson-probably because you are too young to know better-but he said it is on the players for not executing.football is as much mental as physical.when we get down 14-0 in the 1st 5 min of the game it changes everything.
October 25th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Strong minded teams get down big and still compete we didn’t. Yes we’ll put thid on Russell up to a point but others need to step up too.
If everyone gets down jus because they have Russell that to me is very WEAK!! so I hope that isn’t true. How in hell did the Ravens win the SB?
The Steelers won in spite of Big Ben. But Russell is just too much to overcome? Left that is called an excuse. Sorry!!

It seems to me I have spent the better part of the last 25 years screaming at the TV.
Run the dam ball, run the dam ball, run the dam ball.
It seems we always have horses on the bench.
I am about 95% sure that Al is the reason we pass so much. That means Cable is just doing what Al tells him to for the most part.
Knowing Al just a little bit, I suspect his next move is too hire a big name coach. Holmgren, maybe Parcells and give them a piece of the team. Then get out of the way.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:19 am
I should add that I dunno if Holmgren is up to the job. Parcells has proven time and time again he can turn around a team.
I dont think theres many other people out there.

JERRY; FIX YOUR BLOG, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD
I agree that the players are not earning their wages.
Cant run the ball
Cant stop the run
Cant pass the ball
Cant stop the pass
That is usually when you bring in a new coach
