A McFadden sighting

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, October 30th, 2009 at 11:03 am in Oakland Raiders.

Running back Darren McFadden was on an adjoining field with a member of the athletic training staff Friday, doing some light jogging and agility work.

Wearing an elastic brace on his right knee, ostensibly the one which was “cleaned up” through arthroscopic surgery, it was the first time McFadden has been on the field during the time when media members are present.

Meanwhile, Louis Murphy, who didn’t complete practice because of a hip injury Thursday, was going through drillwork gingerly and at halfspeed with the wide receivers. Cornerback Chris Johnson, who failed to complete practice because of a groin injury, was putting on his helmet and going through a tip drill as the media window concluded.

Tight end Tony Stewart was a specatator with a chest injury, while quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, who missed the last two practices with a stomach virus, was on the field and appeared to be good to go.

More to come later following Tom Cable’s post-practice press briefing . . .

    What’s up Nation?

I see we’re still arguing about how poorly Russell has played (true) and how the entire team’s failures can be placed squarely on him (lol).

I also see Brien the Mouthpiece is spouting more nonsense than usual and loves to see himself type.

Richochet is calling people female names.

    So, business as usual.

    Carry on, Nation.

P.S. Rich, toss in a few extra ‘pumpkins,’ for me will ya? After all, Halloween is just around the corner.

  2. Brien the Grand Guru Says:

DMAC just sit out man. Dont come play for this team until Russell is cut. He will hold you back from wins

    Welcom back Dmac.

Should have had arthroscopic surgery on his hands to remove the case of fumblitis that was growing there.

We could always get old twinkle toes Larry Johnson lol

  8. LA to TheBay Says:

Figured I’d post this before I jet, just to stir the pot:

Tim Ryan, FoxSports Analyst who is doing the Raider vs Eagle game this weekend was just on Gary Radnich Show on KNBR was talking Raider Football and had some interesting points. Being personally close to Jon Gruden he had good points:

    - Gruden will coach again and has the “coaching itch” and wants get back to it

    - Knowing Gruden personally, as long as Tim Ryan has know Jon he has never heard Gruden say anything negative about Mr. Davis both “on and off the record”

    - Gruden open to coming back to Oakland

    - Bruce Allen would follow Gruden Back to Oakland

  9. HairyBush Says:

I wonder if Larry Johnsons homo slur had anything to do with using a caddle prod. just sayin

Dmack goes down like a whore when people look at him funny.

no Murphy & Stewart? no problem.

been waiting to see Walker & Myers on the field more anyways …

  12. CuzImaRaider Says:

DMAC one of those runners who’ll play better winning, if we traded him he’d be a stud on another team!

  14. HairyBush Says:

La to thebay- I heard the same comments, that Is why I am curious why Jerry so Is adiment (sp?) about Gruden not returning. Every time I ask on a live chat he basically says absolutely not. I’m just saying it is in the realm of possibilty. just ask Tim Ryan. He wouldn’t lie right?

  15. RaiderRockstar Says:

    wow.

CJ, Banana & Richochet don’t think it makes a difference if Russell finally shows up early, takes the blame and decides to put the work in? (previous post)

pretty sad. I don’t expect him to transform from turd to superstar overnight, but it’s progress and possibly a sign of better things to come from him in the future.

Larz doesn’t think JR played poorly, even though JR himself admitted it. LOL

  16. HairyBush Says:

I truly wonder what we would see with J.Walker. I believe it will be one end of the spectrum or the other. He will either be as fast and useful as Al Davis running routes with a full load in his diaper, or perhaps close to the Javon in Green bay. The way Cable is holding him out, I think he may be the latter and Cable just has personal issue with him for going behind teams back with off season surgery.

  18. RaiderRockstar Says:

Gruden & Allen would be welcomed back to Oakland with open arms by Raider Nation.

not by Al Davis or the locker room though. Many guys in the Bucs locker room hated him. All scholarships would be voided and discipline would hit this team like a hammer. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Russell cut and many others cut or traded as well. Gruden likes to collect QB’s. Maybe Southwick would get a fair shot at the job?

  20. HairyBush Says:

Southwick lol? Who knows with Gruden anythings possible. Southwick=next Gannon lol

  21. Larz Says:

I stated over and over that JR played poorly.

I know you are literate because you do type for yourself.

I am saying that his play is not the reason we are losing.

In order to tell if he played poorly I would have to see him playing in a real NFL offense.

  22. RaiderRockstar Says:

The way Cable is holding him out, I think he may be the latter and Cable just has personal issue with him for going behind teams back with off season surgery.

    ***

HB: if Al Davis wanted Javon on the field, he’d be out there … instead he wants to see Heyward-Bey develop and become something special. The fact that we’re even seeing Todd Watkins on the field before Javon means he’s surely in the doghouse for one thing or another!

  23. HairyBush Says:

Larz, sorry dude Jamarcus still has to take resposibility for his play. seriously

  24. RaiderRockstar Says:

Larz: Russell should be compared to Andrew Walter, not Terry Bradshaw!

    come on man…

if we had a real NFL qb, you’d see a real NFL offense

here’s hoping Russell can eventually become that guy. and sooner, rather than later or it’ll cost Cable & crew their jobs and we’d have to start all over again (which would be devastating)

  25. RaiderRockstar Says:

    carpe diem!

  28. DMAC Says:

Top 3 reasons for our failures, and the O-line is NOT one of them.
    1.QB
    2.WR’s
    3.Offensive playcalling
The D will be alright once we end this 3 and out BS!

  29. HairyBush Says:

RR- I believe Davis/Cable are one. Therefore Walker is in Davis’s dog house as well as Cable’s. Hence the Marcus Allen treatment. (or Javon really is that bad and is just taking a roster spot.)-which makes so sense to me whatsoever! regardless of $$ he is guaranteed. Is he that great of a mentor to keep him on the sideline? obviously not, with the poor play and dropped passes by our youthful recievers!

  30. DMAC Says:

    Jon Kitna?Rex Grossman? Vince Evans????????

  31. HairyBush Says:

    David Carr!

  32. 4evaRaider Says:

    LMAO

  33. Larz Says:

I agree all players have to.

My point has been that I have seen teams win with worse QB play.

I have seen Rothlesberger attempt only 10 or 11 passes and still win the game.
Flaco barely threw the ball past the hash marks all of last year.

But our genius coach is calling 4 deep….suicide.

    I’m just sayin’

  34. Raider O Says:

I didn’t Know JR played Defense too. It must be him allowing 300 yards rushing per game.

  35. DMAC Says:

The D deosn’t want to play anymore after watching J Russ stink it up all the time! 3 and outs!

  36. Raider O Says:

It must be JR calling all those great plays, and it must be him that we have a bad Oline, 2 Rookie WRs, and we can’t gain more than 4 YPC.

JR is a QB who may not be giving it a 100%, but the Raiders are not helping!
    -Bad Defense
-No Oline other than Mario & Gallery
    -2 Rookie WRs
    -Bad play calling

I don’t think Payton M can make it on this team.

  37. Raider O Says:

It’s a team sport! The Ravens won a SB with Trent D!

  38. Larz Says:

Philly and Charger game was the only time we played conservitive.

You switch the Qbs from the Jets game and the result is the same.
Sanchez would have been killed if he had a black jersey on.

  39. Raider O Says:

Trent was so bad that the ravens released after winning the SB,and after drafting KB in the 1st RD. They didn’t even want him as a backup!

You can hate on JR all you want, but what have they done to help him?

  40. DIRT-LOT FOOTBALL Says:

    JUST SAY NO TO GRUDEN-II

  41. DMAC Says:

O-line is average. Russell is fking up. WR’s aren’t producing. Real bad offensive playcalling. The D feeds off our offense. You don’t think the D would play much better if we actually would move the ball and score some points?

  42. DMAC Says:

Get his fatt ass to work earlier. Lose weight. Be a fk’n leader. Study film. Earn your contract. Has a good QB coach in Hackett and still isn’t learning chit!

  43. Raider O Says:

How Many TDs does DMC have? How many yards? What about Bush & DHB?
How many INTs does CJ have? How many ints & TOs does the entire Defense have in 7 games?

The Oline, RBs, WRs, QB, LBs, DTs, and CJ are not playing well.
The only players that have been playing well are: Huff, Nnamdi, Sey, Ellis, Mario, Gallery, Murphy, Branch, Z Miller, Jano, and Lechler. That’s it!

  44. Raider O Says:

The worst play is coming from the Oline, DTs, and LBs.
Other teams run at well up the middle.

  45. DMAC Says:

At least Trent’s sorry ass wouldn’t turnover the ball, like Russ does.

  46. DMAC Says:

I can agree with CJ not playing as well as last season, and LB’s need to definetly step it up. Chit who knows, maybe the LB coach has got to go or we should find a run stuffing middle LB and move Kirk back to the outside.

  47. The Real MaddenRaider Says:

Dirt Lot, no need to worry. Gruden himself will be saying “No” to Gruden II. Al would have to match what he’s making at ESPN, and put it in clear writing that he would have to get paid the entire amount of his contract unless he flat out doesn’t show up to work. No “cause” for not following “team tradition” nonsense.

  48. Richochet Says:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iI8OAdQx2aU

Honestly, when you listen to that, does it not make it pretty clear on why JR is ’slow’ to learn?

  49. Raider O Says:

JR needs to give up on plays faster, and just run the Ball. No more spins pls! lol

    ======================
    OMG.
What have the done to help him?
    Well gosh..I guess you’re right.
They DIDN’T hire Jillian Michaels from The Biggest Loser to personally wake his ass up, and put him on a threadmill.
The also didn’t put locks on all the local buffet’s.

However, they did encourage him, from day one, to GET OFF HIS FAT ASS AND PUT IN SOME EFFORT.

They did encourage him to MAYBE PUT IN A LITTLE EXTRA TIME TO LEARN THE FREAKING PLAYBOOK, which would be nice.

They did have receivers running routes, where, in many instances were either wide open, or had the required step on the defender..BUT..they didn’t THROW THE BALL FOR HIM.

Save the “had injuries on the oline..things are tough”.. OR “receivers could be better”..MOST TEAMS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS..when a guy is open..THE QB IS PAID TO DELIVER IT INTO THEIR HANDS..NOT throw it 10 feet over their head..

But now we’re back to the team NOT throwing the ball for JR..vicious cycle.

I’ll rue the day that bust re-enters the lineup. I’d rather play “Huggy” than “Let-Goey”.

  54. DMAC Says:

How do you expect them to run the ball on a 8-9 man front every weekend? The D is daring Russ to throw the ball and turn it over!

  55. Raider O Says:

So JR is responsible for blocking, running, catching, playing Defense, and calling plays?

  56. DMAC Says:

Are you blind? There are other flaws with this team, but it’s not hard to figure out that Russell is holding the team back!

By “job”, you mean player/coach right?

  58. The Real MaddenRaider Says:

You guys talking about Gruden…LOL. Are you all planning on winning the lottery, too? Where does your wishful thinking end? Gruden doesn’t come here till Al Davis is 6 feet in the ground being gnawed by bugs.

  59. Roch R Says:

Why isn’t DHB returning punts like most rookies do? JLH did it, T Brown did it, DeSean Jackson did it in Philly.

Maybe he didn’t do it in college, but am I wrong in thinking that returning punts is a rite of passage for a high profile rookie WR?

And yes I know about the hands thing, but he is a wide reciever.

    Just a question.

  60. Bobby Bushay Says:

Wow, with Murphy potentially out or limited and Chaz most likely not able to go, we will get to see Javon Walker on the field for more than three snaps a game. It will be interesting to see if he can put up “Michael Crabtree numbers” – which might make Raider Nation be more than a little pissed considering our WR production. Five catches for say 60 yards and a TD would be interesting discussion on why he hasn’t played, particularly with Chaz out.

Also, I would like to see more of JLH, as he gave some juice last year. I hope someone gave him a lick in practice and he is over his fear of being smacked in a game. Maybe #34 perhaps?

O lines been patch work and riddled with injuries. DT’s haven’t been bad at times. Times when Oakland offense lets them play like they were designed and thats in defending the pass.

LB’s need an upgrade. Morrison’s out of place TOO OFTEN.

Ricky Brown was average before the injury Alston has stepped up big.

How could you leave WR’s off that list?

Actually, Al dying would be YOUR wishful thinking, MR. The rest of us just want him to quit.

It would be fitting for Gruden to return though, since Al discovered the kid and gave him the chance to become the worst coach ever to win a SB trophy.

  64. DMAC Says:

You know what? I got NFL Ticket and I see ALOT of QB’s missing throws and being inaccurate ALOT! Look at Favre for chrisake.

The diff? They’ve got wides who actually catch more than they drop…

GRANTED Russell needs work, we all knew that when he came out a Junior, but I think maybe aside from last weeks horror fest, he may not be as bad as it seems.

I think he and Bey need to move in together, become buddy frikkin buddy. Schilens isn’t going to have a career at this rate.

7th rounder. Lots of potential, but if his ankles and feet can’t take it, he won’t make it.

Best thing about Schilens is his almost maniacal energy once the balls snapped.

IF his teammates played like he does? We’d win more then we’d lose…

  68. Dude Says:

Hmm…if ALOT of QBs are missing throws and such why is Russels QB rating SOOOOOOOO much lower than the rest of the league?? Quit making excuses for the guy and call a spade a spade. Jamarcus Russell sux. Period.

  69. Dude Says:

    Nmadi,

How the hell do you pretend to know where Morrison is supposed to be? You dont know the defensive calls and have no idea what his assignment is. Quit acting as if you have any clue.

  70. Raider O Says:

I agree Nnamdi. I should have addedthe WRs to
    That list.

    DMAC,

I watched all the games except Denver.
