Sounds like a football player 2 me =)
November 10th, 2009 at 9:29 am
OOOOOOOPS…that of course was from the Raiders web-site
November 10th, 2009 at 9:35 am
Man I feel for Schilens, the Raiders have built up his return like he’s the next Jerry Rice and he’ll fix all their passing woes.
I hope he has 10 catches for 150 yards and 2TDs but come on….it’s so tiring to see a new player be built up each week as the key to the turnaround just to see them beaten down on Monday when nothing changes the previous Sunday.
November 10th, 2009 at 9:36 am
well I guess now would be a good time 4me to step up on the soap-box
November 10th, 2009 at 9:37 am

I watched the game last night and I have to say that we look like an antique next to those two teams. I saw innovative schemes, creative play calling and solid coaching that carries over to the field. The pro game is evolving and if we don’t make some changes then it may be years before we will be respectable again. Don’t like seeing the team mocked on BSPN? Then win…Were you watching Al? You are old and in the way…
November 10th, 2009 at 10:16 am

November 10th, 2009 at 10:45 am
ok there is life…DMAC…I need 2 see how Shaunessy and Bryant and now Willy Joe play the rest of the year.I would also like 2 see Seymour move 2 DT,at 310lbs.Jay Richardson and Shaunessy at ends and T.Scott,Ellis will be back too.The org drafted DE and DE tweeners last year.I still think they need 2 draft the fugglyest DT’s they can.Kelly and Warren may be gone next year also.Soo…I hope its 2DT’s and the nastiest MLB in the first 3 rounds, however they pick em,those 2 positions should be our 1st 3 picks, imo

You WILL still be 87 points ahead with this trade…Lets see a plus 87 in a league where 94 points seperates 1st place (you) from last place (me) 87 BIG ONES 4O8 IN A VERY DIFFICULT LEAGUE.Championships are won by those who TAKE THEM
November 10th, 2009 at 12:28 pm

I’m REALLY trying 2 help you out BRO…Lets see Portis didnt score ANY points 4 you and he started 4 you.Chris J started 4 me and scored out at WHOOAA!!! a 27!!!.Inject that 27 into your 86 points you scored out against Marley thats right you score a whoppin 113 POINTS
Which figures Dirty scored out at 116 (I see what you mean )but that total is good for 2nd place this week and maybe 1 st next week. All this is yours 4 the taking 408
November 10th, 2009 at 12:41 pm

What do you think of Kevin Kolb as our next QB? He is a free agent who was brought up in a pass happy offense (houston) and has had good games subbing for Mcnabb…You mentioned he is a west coast offense QB but he also has a strong arm. Dont you think he merits a sniff? Tuesday November 10, 2009 12:44 RAIDERfromHONDURAS
12:45 jerrymac: Not a huge arm, had big numbers in a game Philly lost, I believe. Don’t see Al picking him, and don’t see the current coach trying to sell him on Kolb.
People bring up Kolb but the Eagles groomed him for the future. No way they let him go
November 10th, 2009 at 12:47 pm

I find it amusing to watch the follies. What if we drafted this guy? What if we got this coach? What if we pick up this free agent, What if, what if…..
When is it going to sink in that we are f–ked until Al is gone. No exceptions.

Exactly how much practice does Al allow you and others to view? Is it comparable to other NFL teams? Thanks for answering all my dumb questions and thanks for fixing the blog. Tuesday November 10, 2009 12:58 plunketthead
1:00 jerrymac: I’ve got no idea what happened with the blog or that it was fixed . . . so that probably has to do with Jon Becker and not me . . every day we see the team warm up, go through some dummy phases (offense vs. other offensive players posing as defenders) that are walkthrough in nature. When the horn blows for team sessions to begin, we’re sent on our way. And it’s not just the Raiders that do that _ don’t have the numbers off hand but I think it’s more than half.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
4eva I was not paying attention. Let me look at what the trade is.

Does it really matter who is our defensive coordinator is? It seems like no mater who it is…the defense looks the exact same because of Davis’ insistence that we run man to man. So what’s the point of having that job?

November 10th, 2009 at 1:39 pm
morilla, the reason a lot of these guys choose to discuss players and coaches instead of Al is to purposely move the conversation away from Al. Oh, there’s a few retards out there who really don’t believe it’s Al’s fault. But most of these shills know it is, and their agenda in here is to distract from Al’s accountability and pass it elsewhere.
November 10th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
This is the very reason it doesn’t do any good to have a writer blogging because they just don’t know football. We’ve been running zone in the secondary since the Houston game and mixing in man. We’ve run unbalanced zone blitzes and 3/4 fronts with the OLB/DE T Scott standing up over center or OG in 3 point stnce and everything you can think of.
One of the reasons we got beat early in the SD game is the mixups in the zone coverage where we gave a certain look then change it and got caught standing around on Jackson’s TD.
Jerry you simply do not know football and give so much misinformation it’s ridiculous. What’s worse you don’t ask pertenent questions, you just make assumptions and roll with it. Like nyour silly comment about Chaz Schilens in last weeks chat.
If you would simply ask some probing questions as to what they’re doing and why and then challenge the answers you get better informed about what iot is you are covering rather give these cookie cutter answers to these posters knowing they don’t know the difference. Which very few of them do they’ll accept anything you throw at them as fact. The sheep they are.

funny when JMc shot down your Kim Jong Il comparison…exactly which media talking heads speak kindly of AD? Few if any. That is when they are alone at their keyboards. M Lonetree, they guy’s in here will believe anything Jerry says, and Jerry doesn’t know squat. If they ever saw the way the cowtow to Mr Davis in his presence they’d throw up. All they do is hang on his every word and then go spin everything for the public. It’s the reason that players and coaches hate talking to them.
This twitter thing is the best thing that ever happened because these people can now speak to the public for themselves. Instead of having these reptillian scribes conjure up all kinds of characters and fables that have nothing to do with the truth.

Lonetree, Madden feels the same way about Davis that I do. Notice Madden’s never around the Raider’s facility, while he always chums up with Niner people. Madden gives Davis his props for giving him the opportunity, and it doesn’t go beyond that. John Madden wants absolutely nothing to do with Al Davis. So, why would he have a problem with someone adopting his name on a blog and letting Al have it? Madden probably knows about me, has read my posts, and laughs his ass off.

Al Davis has said time and time again: He believes in man defense. He believes in a passing game that can hit the end zone on EVERY down. Think he’s just making that stuff up, Priest? Al is on record saying that as long as he’s in charge of the Raiders, he will never use deception as part of his gameplan on either side of the ball (despite it having been an industry standard since the ’80s!).

It’s that they play it unusually more than other teams. That’s the problem. But lying Al shills like you try to bring up the one play where we blitzed or the one play where we used zone as a counter argument against the obvious. It’s like you’re trying to fool yourself.

Kell, I read it in the book, “Slick”. Ribowsky, the author, quotes Al Davis in an interview after he fired Shanahan. Al says that as long as he’s here, this team will always man up and come right after the opponent, never using deceptive schemes. But of course, priest says Shanahan was fired because Howie Long demanded it. Are you guys able to smell actual b.s. coming from priest’s comments as well as I am? Like a scratch and sniff?

Survey was long,, due to my lengthy responses 27 minutes.
My question to the survey is, how can you rate any question with a 1-10 rating, with 10 being the highest and 1 the lowest.
So does that mean 2,3,4, etc.. are not as bad to number one or are they closer to 10.
I normally don’t take the time for surveys. I decided when I saw the question” How satisfied are you with the team performance” I decided to jump in.
My gut feeling is the survey leaned towards more technology during your game day experience.
I liked the question “are you satisfied with the Raiderettes and other entertainment at the game”
Who would not be happy looking at some of those Raiderettes.
The worst part of the survey was describing the food at the Coliseum, or lack of good food.
My comments will be amusing to who ever reads this survey.

I really can’t understand long time Raider fans who reject the Raider philosophy.
If you have been a fan of the Raiders since 1963, much hasn’t changed. Al is still Al.
Granted, it’s been pretty awful for the last 7 years and the better part of 20, but tell me why you are a Raider fan if you reject the Davis Way?
Perhaps if he got athletic football players rather than just athletes and coaches who could help said athletic football players realize their full potential, this would be the Raiders of Old.
Just a thought.
What would really be a kick is if Al got the right people around to implememnt his antique schemes and STILL kick @$$. I really think that’s the idea.
The last several years and the few that preceded those are a clear example he doesn’t have the right people around or he has simply lost a step (or three) and his vaunted talent for evaluating players on the spot.
I’m not opposed to the Davis Way (evil as he is), I’m opposed to the Davis Method, if that makes sense.
November 10th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
Gilbert Brown on the Packers…
“It is the head coach’s fault,” Brown said, per SportsRadioInterviews.com. “Everything that goes on starts with the big man upfront.”
When it was pointed out to Brown that the Packers have personnel issues, which would seem to suggest that General Manager Ted Thompson is the problem, Brown said it’s still McCarthy’s job to find a way to win with the players he has.
“It doesn’t matter,” Brown said. “It doesn’t matter with the talent and what you put on the field if you keep making mistakes week in and week out and you don’t correct it and the same thing keeps going on.”
………………..
Just insert Tom Cable for McCarthy and Al Davis for Ted Thompson and it sounds just like the arguments on this chat board.
November 10th, 2009 at 4:03 pm
The only time Davis seems to relent is if the coaches can convince him that their method or player or scheme or whatever is the better idea.
Al appears to have become more rigid as the years march on.
The Gruden thing probably solidified this.
Cable seems to have a bit of pull, but nothing like Chucky.
It would seem as though you have to win with the Davis Method just enough to get some credibility in order to apply some sort of Hybrid Method.
Once Gruden got his way, or enough of it, he began to build up. Got his guy at QB, weeded out the malcontents, and use his system. The implementation of the WCO alone says that Davis was desperate at that point or merely saw some incredible thing in Gruden.
I like Cable when he’s not beating people, but the results aren’t there. Blame Al all you want, but in order for Cable to get anything he wants, it seems to me like he’s gotta break .500, and even that – these days – may mean nada.
November 10th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
I’ve always liked what Davis did for the Raiders. That is what was so unique about the Raiders. That was also 20 years ago and we are in a new era now. Todays Raiders are quite depressing, not like the old days. That is what makes it difficult today. The claws won’t let go. But we’ll keep hoping.
And by the way, since Big Al paid JR all that money, do you think he could just say:
‘JR, quit clubbin so much and get to work a little earlier so you can learn the mental game.
Really, I can’t keep dumbing down the playbook for you. It’s staring to hurt the rest of the team.’

“I really can’t understand long time Raider fans who reject the Raider philosophy.”
I’d base it on the fact that whenever we have a coach who bucks that philosophy, we win.
“If you have been a fan of the Raiders since 1963, much hasn’t changed. Al is still Al.”
Now I’m wondering if you’ve been a fan for that long. Are you going to tell me Ken Stabler was the same as Lamonica? That Gruden was the same as Joe Bugel or Art Shell?
“Granted, it’s been pretty awful for the last 7 years and the better part of 20, but tell me why you are a Raider fan if you reject the Davis Way?”
Because most of us are fans of other people than Davis. Davis did not build one single successful Raider team by himself. Many convincing cases have been made to suggest that Al had very little involvement, especially in the ’70s when Al was involved with league issues and Ron Wolf did most of the team building. Most football fans are not necessarily fans of the team’s owner. Every team’s uniforms were designed by someone. What fans are loyal to that person? The person who designed the uniforms?
While you ask why we’re fans if we don’t support Al davis, let me ask you, why do you feel one has to support Al Davis to be a fan? I’ve heard people like you say this before, and I haven’t seen a convincing case yet to support your point. Go ahead, take a crack at it. Tell us how he designed the uniforms, like Betsy Ross designed the U.S. flag…
“I’m not opposed to the Davis Way (evil as he is), I’m opposed to the Davis Method, if that makes sense.”
It doesn’t, actually.

November 10th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
AL DAVIS NEEDS TO HIRE A REAL GM/PERSONNEL MAN AND FREAKIN REAL HEAD COACH and he needs to let them do their job before the Raiders ever start to win consistently again!
PERIOD….END OF STORY!
November 10th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
MR,
I don’t know that I ’support’ Davis.
My point is why everyone, or most anyway, rejects the philosophy.
Regardless of the players, and I do agree Wolf played a MAJOR part in succesful Raider teams, the idea has always been the same.
Line up. Beat the guy across from you.
Even Al could live with the WCO because of the way Gruden made it work. Gannon could dink and dunk with the best of them, but they always kept the big play philosophy amongst others.
Davis Way: All the slogans that are corny but used to mean something.
Davis Method: Everything you hate about him (puppet coaches, signing athletes rather than athletic football players, etc).
I can defend the product and the philosophy without neccecarily defending the man himself, as he’s done some pretty devious sh;t.
And yes, the uniforms are still the best in football.

“The only time Davis seems to relent is if the coaches can convince him that their method or player or scheme or whatever is the better idea.”
Every single coach he’s ever hired has a better method and scheme than him, considering his method and scheme was only effective for a short time in the early ’60s.
“Al appears to have become more rigid as the years march on.”
‘Rigid’ is a kind way of putting it.
“It would seem as though you have to win with the Davis Method just enough to get some credibility in order to apply some sort of Hybrid Method.”
How do you do that, when it’s impossible to win with the Davis method? Gruden didn’t use the Davis method for one second. Neither did Kiffin. That’s why both of them made the Raiders better in their first seasons.
“Once Gruden got his way, or enough of it, he began to build up. Got his guy at QB, weeded out the malcontents, and use his system.”
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Gruden tried to get rid of Jeff George immediately. He insisted on Donald Hollis, a horrible qb, due to that fact that he could run Gruden’s WCO better than any other QB on the roster.
“The implementation of the WCO alone says that Davis was desperate at that point or merely saw some incredible thing in Gruden.”
Exactly. When he hired him. Gruden never had to win with the vertical offense to earn the authority to use the WCO.
“I like Cable when he’s not beating people, but the results aren’t there. Blame Al all you want, but in order for Cable to get anything he wants, it seems to me like he’s gotta break .500, and even that – these days – may mean nada.”
He’ll never break the 5 win mark doing things Al’s way, let alone the .500 mark. No coach has since the ’60s.

“MR,

Let me know when you figure it out.
“My point is why everyone, or most anyway, rejects the philosophy.”
Because ‘everyone’ isn’t as tolerant of the Raiders losing year after year as you seem to be.
“Regardless of the players, and I do agree Wolf played a MAJOR part in succesful Raider teams, the idea has always been the same.”
You make no sense. What idea? Ron Wolf wasn’t doing anything under Al Davis’s ideas. Ron Wolf believed in football players, period. Look at the team he built in Green Bay. Very little emphasis on combine stats. It was all about guys who just like to put the helmet on and smash people. That was always Wolf’s idea.
“Line up. Beat the guy across from you.”
Oh, ok. You mean everyone’s idea? Are you honestly trying to convince us that Al invented the idea of WINNING?
“Even Al could live with the WCO because of the way Gruden made it work.”
Really? Is that why Al stonewalled him when it was time for a new contract? Al obviously couldn’t stand the fact that we were winning someone else’s way.
“Gannon could dink and dunk with the best of them, but they always kept the big play philosophy amongst others.”
There is no player in the h istory of the NFL that didn’t keep the ‘big play’ in mind. Why are you crediting Al Davis for reptilian sports philosophy? ‘beat the guy across from you’. ‘big play’. As if there’s an athlete or coach on this planet who hates beating the guy across from him and the big play…my goodness, dude. Are you here to talk football, or scare me?
“Davis Way: All the slogans that are corny but used to mean something.”
They never met anything. The game’s played on the field, not on the banners hanging from the stands.
“Davis Method: Everything you hate about him (puppet coaches, signing athletes rather than athletic football players, etc).
I can defend the product and the philosophy without neccecarily defending the man himself, as he’s done some pretty devious sh;t.”
He has done some pretty devious s’t. Ask any of the surviving Valleys, or Marcus Allen. Al Davis is NOT a good man.
“And yes, the uniforms are still the best in football.”
And the U.S. flag looks pretty cool, too. But do we credit Betsy Ross for every U.S. achievement?

Quick question whomever wants to can answer. What offense do the NE Pat’s run, and what defense does the Giants, Eagles, Packers, Seahawks, Cardinals, Broncos, Cowboys, Bucaneers, Panthers, Vikings and Titans run? and that’s just as many as I can think of right now?
What defense do all these teams run?
As for offense what do the Pat’s, Saints, Cowboys, Cardinals, Broncos, Rams, Steelers and most teams in the NFL run?
November 10th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
Dude,
Yes! I called Dorian an Ex Con, and I was Right!
November 10th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
WELL PATS COWBOYS SAINTS AND STEELERS RUN WHAT LOOKS LIKE A SHOTGUN / SPREAD . DEFENSE? PACKERS , BRONCOS AND COWBOYS RUN 3-4 …..
November 10th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
Since most people are of the mind that the Raiders run outdated defense and offense. It just shows how bleeding ignorant some of you are. The widely held belief that the coaches cannot run their own schemes then why whenever the coach who was coaching here leaves he continues running the same damn scheme he ran when he was here. But some of you are so blind with hatred and follow every utterance out of your master Jerry’s mouth that you can’t see blatant truth that’s right in your face.
Rob-O is still running the same scheme hje ran when he was here. The same with Breshnahan the same with Fox the same with Gruden. You all seem to be convinced that they can’t run their schemes then why do they run the same thing elsewhere?
If Jerry told you they sky was purple most of you wouldn’t even question it. Skip Peete and I use to talk often about what they were doing on offense and we argued often about a certain HB named Justin Fargas. I used to talk to Chester all the time about the schemes they run and he never ever mentioned what Mr Davis ALLOWED them to do because he knew they ran everything based on the coaches wishes. He played in a 3/4 and a 4/3 here a onegap system and a twogap system which he hated.
I’ve talked to Tim Brown many times about what they did and he never ever mentioned what Mr Davis wouldn’t ALLOW them to do. Also Jerry Rice was here and he loved the system under both Gruden and Callahan which was much more aggressive.
So who has you guy’s believing otherwise hmmmm let me guess………..Jerry!
November 10th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
The Cowboys run a 4/3 almost exclusively sometimes they stand Ware up in a 2 point stance which switches to a 3/4. The Broncos do run a 3/4 defense under Nolan but what do they run on offense?
My point is Dorian almost the entire league is doing the same thing the Raiders are doing. I forgot the Broncos switched this year. And so did the Bucaneers for the first time in almost 13 years they are running man coverage instead of cover2.
November 10th, 2009 at 9:28 pm
Also you’ll see Russell in the shotgun many times something Mr Davis hates and they also run slants another another thing we never did until we hired Mike Shanahan.
November 10th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
Priestj r u really so naive? Dude most of the teams u mentioned play according what the offense or defense give them, meaning in certain situations they will blitz other times they will play cover three or two depending on which down and yard. Raiders is the only predictable team offensively and definisively, we don’t suprise any team except against the Eagle which was not approved by Al Davis according to Asmough n Marshal, therefore please stop trying to twist the facts, we watch the games just like u do btw I think u blind.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
i wonder if this is true
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=jc-directsnap111009&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
• Some people expressed surprise at a report Sunday by ESPN that the Raiders are actually cooperating with the NFL in the investigation/evaluation of coach Tom Cable. Don’t be surprised. The reason, a source familiar with the case said, is that Oakland owner Al Davis is hoping to gather enough information to fire Cable with cause at the end of the season so that Davis doesn’t have to pay Cable.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:17 pm
16, you would have to think that isn’t the case because he is in the throws of trying to get this team turned around. If he makes it loook like he’s done his due diligence as far as the case is concerned no one can question him on it.
But it may be cause for front office conflict and hopefully that wont trickle down. Mr Davis knows the accusations are flimsy at best. Even the league is only concerned with Cable’s behavior this season nothing before.
I can’t believe just how ignorant some people are, they don’t know the difference between scheme and gameplanning. No wonder herry can tell these shep anything and they’ll believe it they don’t have a clue that gameplanning is not necessarily your scheme. Ypou Gameplan an opponent but your basic scheme is consistent from team to team.
Little lost sheep that they are.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
Every team is predictable to a point that’s why you can gameplan them and it works. Teams have personalities, some are running teams and some are passing teams that is there basic personality and the runa scheme within that personality. But they will change as far as gameplanning for a specific opponent.
If yu’re preparing for Peyton Manning you know they are not going to run it 50 times, they probably pass 50 times. they will try to spread you out at attack the seams. So yoour defense has to gameplan that. But they still have a basic scheme that they run.
Get it?

damn man, this place NEVER changes.
I honestly don’t know how some of you do this on a daily/hourly basis. Especially when no ground is ever made, it’s just the same old thing day after day, going on year after year.
I also wonder what some of you would do if the Raiders ever became a consistently winning team. Some of you would have huge voids to fill and many would have no purpose at all.
It’s refreshing to know that human spirit can thrive in any situation.

Good Morning NATION!!!
November 11th, 2009 at 4:27 am
Yahoo’s Jason Cole reports that Raiders owner Al Davis is hoping to fire head coach Tom Cable at season’s end.
Citing a “source familiar” with ex-assistant Randy Hanson’s case against Cable stemming from a training camp fight, Cole says the Raiders are cooperating with the NFL so that Cable can be fired for cause. Davis would then be off the hook for Cable’s remaining salary. The league is exploring whether to force Cable into psychological evaluation and counseling for his history of (alleged) physical abuse against Hanson and women.
******
So I wonder who the “source” inside 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway might be……..

Firing Cbale for cause sounds like a crock to me especially if Cable can win 4 or more games. Davis has no problem paying fools like DeAngelo Hall $8 mill to F off and J Walker to ride the pine. can’t imagine he’d be tooworried about firing Cable without pay for slappin some cheating wh-ore 20 yrs ago. People make mistakes, they move on.
This is a tired “story” that smack of hypocrisy. Like Jerry mentioned, not everyone in the NFL or media would like their past dug into…

So I read that the road team has covered the spread the last 12 times between Chiefs-Raiders with the road team winning the last 5, and like 8 of 10.
The Raiders are only 1.5 point favorites, so for the “cover” trend to continue the Raiders win by 1.
14-13, 7-6, 21-20……which one will it be.

Depression as sanity in this world of constant conflict and dis-ease is a reflection of having a clue about the nature of living here on planet Earth.
4eva seems to have developed a buddhic partiality toward things and that is a better form of sanity with regards to being happy than is depression.
If fear is the source of your depression then tell it to take a hike. Fear is a supposition, not a substantial.

But there is professional handicappers and poker players, so we have a chance.
I’m jaded, unless it is a real good game (say Pats-Colts or something) or the Raiders, I need action to stay focused, especially if the game isn’t in doubt but the spread or over/under is.

…………….
Wow. Vegas Raider, surely you know that the vegas line is not a scientific prediction, but rather an attempt to get as many bets as possible for both teams? You have two god awful teams, how do you get people to bet on both of them? 1 point spread. I’d bet you that considering our offense is getting worse week after week, a true scientific prediction would have the Chiefs winning by 7.

Yes Chris it is, it is called treason, get a clue would you!!!
……………
LOL. Vegas Raider checked in with the right wingers this morning to get his talking points.
Regarding Chris Matthews, he was merely asking the question theoretically, not giving his own opinion. Here’s the full quote.
“See – we have a problem,” Matthews said. “How do we know when someone like Hasan is going to make his move and do we know he’s an Islamist until he’s made his move? He makes a phone call or whatever, according to Reuters right now. Apparently he tried to contact al Qaeda. Is that the point at which you say, ‘This guy is dangerous?’ That’s not a crime to call up al Qaeda, is it? Is it? I mean, where do you stop the guy?”
Reporters ask questions. That’s what they do. He’s giving his panel the opportunity to answer the question. This was not an op ed, where Matthews was giving his personal view.

MR, checked out your responses to my posts last night. Lol, you are so hell bent on misery its sad. First off, I blog from work, so when I leave, I go home. Because you have no girl doesn’t mean others can’t either.
Secondly, I don’t credit Betsy Ross for any real American achievement, as that flag has been changed several times since, whereas the Raiders unis have not. Besides, I said they were the best unis in football, not that Davis deserved anything other than recognition for them and only for that matter. Stop letting your hate for Davis cloud your judgement. They are the best uniforms, IMO. Get over it.
Lastly, I don’t disagree with you that Davis is a snake, but he’s my snake. He built my team. Ron Wolf or not, Jon Gruden or not. LA to TheBay doesn’t backpedal. I clarify. You said Gruden didn’t have to win with the Vertical offense, and therefore didn’t have to use the Davis Way. My point was that Gruden did have to use the roster in place. He went 8-8 and got enough pull to sign Gannon. They went 8-8 AGAIN, but had a watershed victory to close the season.
Hence, he won with the Davis Way (I doubt very much the defense was a Gruden thing).
He was then able to sign the players he wanted, or at least get rid of those he didn’t.
I know you hate Al Davis (the guy who built your favorite team – deny if you must), but don’t let it cloud your judgement too much.

Interesting article today about Raider fan, by Poole..and other fans.
How fans are affecting decisions (contrary to a few clueless toads from these parts guaranteeing otherwise).
KC fans had 32,000 sigs wanting Johnson cut before he gained the 75 yds that would put him as the all time KC rusher. Make a difference? maybe…
Cleveland-last week the OWNER spent two HOURS meeting with two reps from the Dawg Pound, who were organizing a massive boycott of Monday nights game, effectively having fans stay OUTSIDE the stadium until after kickoff..owner addressed the issues..and no boycott.
Washington-fans signs calling for Snyder and Cerrato’s heads has prompted a ban on ALL signs..so much for free speech.
Raider fans supposedly met with Amy “don’t ask what I do” Trask..no apparent results are in. After all, regardless of what puppet is addressed, a blank stare is a blank stare..but fans canceling their season tickets speak volumes…and Amy’s job is “ticket sales and merchandising the team”..there are NO TICKET SALES, and as I’ve stated before..drive down 880..EVEN AT THE OAKLAND COLISEUM THERE ARE NO SIGNS UP FOR THE RAIDERS..nothing..
Which brings up the question..who..exactly..in the Raider organization is doing their job?
Very short list..
