Ellis, N. Miller not practicing

Pretty much a full house as the Raiders completed warmups and drills and began team sessions Wednesday in preparation for Sunday’s game against Kansas City.

As expected, wide receiver Chaz Schilens, left guard Robert Gallery, right tackle Cornell Green and running back Darren McFadden were practicing.

No sign of Nick Miller, who was skeptical about returning this week when he talked with the media Monday. Defensive end Greg Ellis was watching and not particpating, an indication that even thought Cable said he was questionable for the game, Matt Shaughnessy will be the likely starter at left end. Ricky Brown remains out with an ankle injury.

Tommy Kelly, absent Monday to tend to some personal business, was back at practice.

More to come later . . .

Interesting article today about Raider fan, by Poole..and other fans.

How fans are affecting decisions (contrary to a few clueless toads from these parts guaranteeing otherwise).

KC fans had 32,000 sigs wanting Johnson cut before he gained the 75 yds that would put him as the all time KC rusher. Make a difference? maybe…

Cleveland-last week the OWNER spent two HOURS meeting with two reps from the Dawg Pound, who were organizing a massive boycott of Monday nights game, effectively having fans stay OUTSIDE the stadium until after kickoff..owner addressed the issues..and no boycott.

Washington-fans signs calling for Snyder and Cerrato’s heads has prompted a ban on ALL signs..so much for free speech.

Raider fans supposedly met with Amy “don’t ask what I do” Trask..no apparent results are in. After all, regardless of what puppet is addressed, a blank stare is a blank stare..but fans canceling their season tickets speak volumes…and Amy’s job is “ticket sales and merchandising the team”..there are NO TICKET SALES, and as I’ve stated before..drive down 880..EVEN AT THE OAKLAND COLISEUM THERE ARE NO SIGNS UP FOR THE RAIDERS..nothing..

Which brings up the question..who..exactly..in the Raider organization is doing their job?
    Very short list..

“MR, checked out your responses to my posts last night. Lol, you are so hell bent on misery its sad.”

Hey, I’m a Raider fan, aren’t I? Any Raider fan who doesn’t like misery picked the wrong team to be a fan of.

“First off, I blog from work, so when I leave, I go home. Because you have no girl doesn’t mean others can’t either.”

OK, you have a “girl”. I get it. What breed is she?

“Stop letting your hate for Davis cloud your judgement.”

Oh, right, the Raiders are actually 6-2, but my clouded judgment of Al Davis has me seeing it as 2-6! So, that’s why you’re so happy!

“They are the best uniforms, IMO. Get over it.”

Get over it…where have we heard that before…

“Lastly, I don’t disagree with you that Davis is a snake, but he’s my snake.”

    OK, that was creepy.

    “He built my team.”

You’re right, he did. And you’re seeing it take the field every Sunday. Ron Wolf, on the other hand, built MY team, the ’70s team.

    “LA to TheBay doesn’t backpedal.”

Of course not, dude. You’re John Wayne!

However, you did back pedal. You said that coaches had to win Al’s way before they could implement their way, which might be the dumbest thing any kool aid drinker has ever said in here. Gruden was doing things his way RIGHT FROM THE GET GO.

“I clarify. You said Gruden didn’t have to win with the Vertical offense, and therefore didn’t have to use the Davis Way.”

    …still backpedaling.

“My point was that Gruden did have to use the roster in place. He went 8-8 and got enough pull to sign Gannon. They went 8-8 AGAIN, but had a watershed victory to close the season.”

How do you know that? How do you know that Gruden had to reach the 8 win mark before Al allowed him to sign Gannon? Got any audio tape of a conversation between the two?

“Hence, he won with the Davis Way (I doubt very much the defense was a Gruden thing).”

Listen you Davis shilling moron, this team has not won the “Davis way” since the early ’60s, when he was a coach, and when most teams had 300 lb. guys playing safety. Gruden never did anything “the Davis way”. He came right in, clashed with Jeff George, made Donald Hollis his starter and gave no indication he would play George again even when George did recover, and ran a west coast offense, from DAY ONE. Gruden did nothing, nothing Al Davis’s way. Not one single thing. You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. I’m wondering now if you were just a kid in 1998 and are getting your data from some stupid stats website. You’ve done nothing to convince me that you watched any actual games from Gruden’s first season. To even suggest that he was doing anything Davis’s way kills your credibility.

“He was then able to sign the players he wanted, or at least get rid of those he didn’t.”

Again, how do you know what those standards were? As far as anyone knows, Gruden was going to get Gannon no matter what. Gruden was hell bent on playing Donald Hollis, who sucked, even if George got healthy, because Hollis was better at running his offense, not too different from Kiffin going with McCown over Culpepper. You were a kid in 1998. Why are you trying to discuss that team with someone who was an adult then? Get out of here. You are stupid!

“I know you hate Al Davis (the guy who built your favorite team – deny if you must), but don’t let it cloud your judgement too much.”

Your judgment’s clouded from trying to talk about Raider coaches that you’re too young to remember, obviously. Get back to “work”, or your “girl”, (aka, porn.)

I have been reading this blog for years, and only recently started posting. This site is the best among all I have ckecked out- amusing and intelligent fan base,(for the most part lol). Unlike the 16 year olds at Raider beat and some of the other sites. The writers there don’t even check there facts before posting an article. A travesty I tell you!

This just in… Raider fans meet with Al Davis to express their concerns and share their demands. In true Al Davis fashion, he gives the crowd a single finger salute showing us we’re still number 1 in his book.

I guess you just had to be there….

  • HairyBush

This just in… Raiders place Nick Miller on IR

kidding, but seriously it would have been nice for xtra roster spot.

  • LA to TheBay

MR, your personal attacks are rather laughable, so I’ll disregard them.

I watched those teams very closely, as I’ve wached all Raider teams closely since watching the Raiders on a week-to-week basis begininning with the ’88 season, when I was a kid.

I already said that Gruden was using the WCO. Davis hired him to do so. He was playing with Davis’ roster.

He convinced Davis George was snot the guy and brought in Gannon.

Listen to Gannon himself and he will tell you that he and Gruden proceded to get rid of malcontents and bring in winners.

No, 8-8 is not a magic number and there is no recorded conversation. Even though Al Davis is rather Nixonian, I don’t believe he records himself. Gruden went in with cut ups to convince Al after marginal success (8-8) after forgetable seasons prior to him coming aboard.

Hey, thank you! We have hairy bush’s approval. I’ll see you guys later tonight. LAtotheBay, can’t wait to read your response later. Hope you find time between your job and your “girl” to get back to me. Well, you find time to post comments here all day, so I’m sure you will. LOL. Later, buddy.

LatotheBay, you have no way of knowing rather Gruden had to win 8 games in order to get Gannon. Yes, Gruden had to play with “davis’s roster” because it was his first year here. You’re making the point that Gruden did things Davis’s way because Gruden didn’t CUT THE ENTIRE TEAM? What logic. Go home and walk your girl. I’ll get back to you later tonight.

there are a few good 16 year olds out there. your on the short list.

  • LA to TheBay

MR, I think you and I can agree that Gruden was able to challenge Davis and have success.

That was one of the major points of my post. In order to buck the system, you must gain credibility. To get credibility, you have to win, or at least break even.

Once Gruden did that, he was allowed to build the team, with Al’s supervision.

Name me a coach that was allowed that kind of freedom.

Please don’t say Kiffin. Yes, he double the win total in his first season. From two to four.

  • TrueRaider

    Prediction

AL Davis starts DHB and Schillens.

Murphy will be third wide out.

MR, checked out your responses to my posts last night. Lol, you are so hell bent on misery its sad. First off, I blog from work, so when I leave, I go home. Because you have no girl doesn’t mean others can’t either.

RICHOCHET: Just means you can’t afford a computer at home, or hookup.
This is where you state “Oh, I could have a computer if I want, but I choose not to”..then we all can laugh at you.

    #############################

Secondly, I don’t credit Betsy Ross for any real American achievement, as that flag has been changed several times since, whereas the Raiders unis have not. Besides, I said they were the best unis in football, not that Davis deserved anything other than recognition for them and only for that matter. Stop letting your hate for Davis cloud your judgement. They are the best uniforms, IMO. Get over it.

RICHOCHET: First off, Raider uniforms HAVE changed, but..you wouldn’t know that, would you? Secondly, only Raider fan runs the “they’re the best uniforms”. No one else does, ever. It’s black. it’s white. It’s blase’. It’s boring. Shows no imagination. And now, contrary to what YOU have stated, they’re NOT scary. They don’t intimidate.

    ######################################

Lastly, I don’t disagree with you that Davis is a snake, but he’s my snake. He built my team. Ron Wolf or not, Jon Gruden or not. LA to TheBay doesn’t backpedal. I clarify. You said Gruden didn’t have to win with the Vertical offense, and therefore didn’t have to use the Davis Way. My point was that Gruden did have to use the roster in place. He was then able to sign the players he wanted, or at least get rid of those he didn’t.

I know you hate Al Davis (the guy who built your favorite team – deny if you must), but don’t let it cloud your judgement too much.

RICHOCHET: you’re such a spineless flea. see…YOU RAN THE ‘Al Davis IS THE RAIDERS. Everything about the Raiders is Al, and if you don’t love Al, GO SUPPORT ANOTHER TEAM.”

Makes you a flea. A gumbyesque no backbone flea.

    Want to see “clouded judgment”??
You state “Al built this team” Actually, he didn’t. As you stated quality guys like Wolf and Allen did their jobs. Al bought the team (actually scammed) and now is destroying the team. Your “clouded judgment” prevents you from viewing the last 25 years, while dwelling on ancient history.
